WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
6/6 Extreme Rules PPV results from New Orleans, LA: Tommy Dreamer over Christian & Jack Swagger in a hardcore three-way to win the ECW title; CM Punk over Umaga in a strap match; Kofi Kingston retained the U.S.
title over Matt Hardy, MVP & William Regal in a fatal four-way; Santina over Vickie Guerrero in a Hog Pen to win back Miss Wrestlemania crown; John Cena over Big Show in a submission match; Chris Jericho over Rey Mysterio in a no holds barred match to win the Intercontinental title; Batista over Randy Orton in a steel cage to win the WWE title; Jeff Hardy over edge in a ladder match to win the World title; and CM Punk cashed in his MITB to win the World title for the second time.
Really good show sans the Hog Pen match. Five title changes in all. The big surprise was Punk cashing in his MITB to capture the World title from Jeff Hardy who had just captured the title from Edge. Very mixed reaction to the angle and some of the crowd turned on Punk.
Raw tonight is live from the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA. Nothing announced for the show at press time. The Smackdown/ECW tapings are Tuesday at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS with Tony Atlas vs. Evan Bourne planned for ECW. As always we’re looking for reports from both shows to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Jim Cornette updated the Q&A section of his website. Triple H made his
list of overrated wrestlers. Cornette wrote: “For the present, let’s go
with Hunter Hearst Helmsley-McMahon. Actually, he’s a very good worker
and studies the business. His promos are usually as exciting as a coma
and last longer than this recession, but he has good matches. Problem
is, as hard as he’s been crammed down people’s throats for the past 10
years, he should have surpassed Hogan, Austin, and Rock, but HHH is what
is called in the business ‘the guy that works with the guy that draws
money.’ He should be in there to have a good match and put the star
over. Actually, he should have been fired in 1996 when he shit on the
entire sport with the infamous ‘curtain call’ at MSG, but Vince, the guy
with balls of steel, let HHH piss in his face and not only didn’t do
anything about it, but let him marry his daughter! And a sledgehammer?
Jesus Christ, I wish he’d hit me in the head with it before he starts
talking on TV. HHH will be the top guy in the WWE until he looks like
Dick the Bruiser in his final days working an Indiana county fair show,
and if THAT’S not overrated, I don’t know what is.” For more pearls of
wisdom check out www.jimcornette.com.
Impact on 6/4 did a 1.1 rating, its lowest number since February.
