The Katz Files – Arnie Katz
Nobody Asked Me (about TNA) , But…
The Kingfish Arnie Katz continues a “Katz Files” tradition with answers to off-the-wall questions that no one asked him and some observations about things that stuck in his mind as he watched a whole lot of wrestling.iMPACT ratings dip exactly what you expected? The 9/4 episode was the first good one in about three weeks – and the ratings work by momentum. A bad show one week hurts the rating of the following week’s program. Unfortunately, it isn’t quite as easy to get those people back with a good show, because they have stopped watching the show and won’t return until, and unless, they hear intriguing word-of-mouth.

I was watching wrestling this week and…

… Doesn’t TNA have to regret starting that dumb feud between Madison Rayne and her two former partners? They’d probably love to just plug her into the beautiful people until Angelina Love can return. They may do it anyway.

… Isn’t the recent TNA

… didn’t the Four-way Gauntlet match raise the status of the British Invasion? Even though the other teams can dismiss it as a fluky win due to the way they booked the finish, buy it also gives the Brits some bragging right. Since fans perceive them as the least of the four major teams, anything that gives them the upper hand makes their matches seem more competitive.

… Isn’t it time for TNA to decide whether to keep Raisha Saeed as a character or go with Alissa Flash? She’s good in either role (or as Cheerleader Melissa), but it would be better if she didn’t have to do double duty.

… weren’t you glad when Matt Morgan finally went face by helping Styles and Daniels win and then dropping Angle with the Hellavator? They’ll probably drag it out until No Surrender, even though they shouldn’t.

… the Homicide swerve made so much sense that it almost didn’t seem like a true surprise. LAX is done, at least for now, so TNA needs to find a new role for the very valuable talent, Homicide. (The plans for Hernandez are included in plans for the main event group.)

That’s all for today. I’ll be back tomorrow with a fresh installment of the Internet’s fastest-rising wrestling column. I hope you’ll join me then – and, please, bring your friends. A few doughnuts would be nice, too.
