The WWE NXT “Takeover: Respect” Kickoff pre-show starts with Renee Young, Lita, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves. They hype tonight’s show and the Iron Man main event. We go backstage to NXT Women’s Champion Bayley. Lita asks if the pressure is getting to her. She says she’s a little emotional but it’s time they had this match. She says she’s going to show Sasha Banks that Brooklyn wasn’t a fluke and she’s walking out with the title, whether Sasha likes it or not. We go to Dasha Fuentes and Greg Hamilton in the crowd with the rowdy NXT Universe. Hamilton plugs the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and leads us to a video package.

– We come back to the panel for discussion on Dusty and the tournament. Graves says there’s not one person in NXT or at Full Sail that Dusty didn’t touch in some way. Graves says people will be touched by Dusty for years to come. He gets emotional when talking about having a conversation with Dusty when he had to retire and become an announcer. Graves says he misses Dusty every day. We go backstage to Saxton with Cody Rhodes and his mother, wife Eden and Dustin Rhodes (Goldust) with his two sisters Kristin and Tiel. They unveil the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Cup that will be presented to the winners later. We go backstage to Apollo Crews for an interview but Dana Brooke and Emma interrupt. Dana is sick of these new NXT stars like Crews and Asuka getting all the attention. Crews takes a shot and warns her about Asuka tonight. We go back to the panel for more discussion.

– Tom Phillips is backstage with Sasha Banks. She says she will become a two-time NXT Women’s Champion and prove that she’s still the boss of NXT. We get more discussion and a video for the main event and that’s it for the pre-show.

– WWE NXT “Takeover: Respect” kicks off with a video package for tonight’s show. We’re live from Full Sail University with Rich Brennan, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton as fans chant for Dusty Rhodes.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semi-Final Match: Finn Balor and Samoa Joe vs. The Mechanics

We go to the ring and out comes NXT Champion Finn Balor to a big pop. His partner Samoa Joe is out next to another pop.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder are out next. Joe unloads on Dash in the corner early on. Joe misses in the corner as Dawson provides an assist. Dash beats Joe down and tags in Dawson for some double teaming in the corner. Balor is back on the apron now. Dawson works over Joe in the corner and rakes his face over the top rope. Dash tags back in as they keep up the quick offense on Joe. Dash with a 2 count. Joe nails an enziguri in the corner.

Dawson comes in but Balor also gets a tag. He kicks Dawson in the head coming in. Balor with a clothesline and a kick to Dash. Finn with chops and another kick to Dash to knock him off the apron. Finn ends up diving out onto both Mechanics and taking them out to a big pop. Balor brings it back in and dropkicks Dawson into the corner. The Mechanics turn it around and beat Balor down as Joe looks on for a tag. They focus on Finn’s injured leg now.

Finn looks to finally be going for the tag but Joe gets pulled off the apron by Dash. Dawson with an elbow from the top for a 2 count. Dawson with more kicks to the leg. Finn gets stopped from tagging again but finally makes it. Joe unloads on Dash and nails a big boot, then the senton. Joe with a big powerslam for a 2 count. Joe misses in the corner but catches Dash with a big slam. Joe takes Dash up for a Musclebuster but Finn asks for a tag. Joe nails the Musclebuster and Finn follows up with the Coup de Grace. Joe nails Dawson as Finn covers for the win and the spot in the finals.

Winners: Finn Balor and Samoa Joe

– After the match, Finn sells the leg injury as Joe checks on him and we go to replays. Joe and Finn make their exit as we see the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Cup.

– Sasha Banks is backstage getting ready for the main event.

– We get highlights of NXT at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY last weekend.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semi-Final Match: Chad Gable and Jason Jordan vs. Rhyno and Baron Corbin

We go to the ring and Chad Gable is out first with partner Jason Jordan. Rhyno’s music hits next and he runs down to the ring. The lights go out and Baron Corbin’s spotlight hits as he begins his entrance.

Jordan starts off with Corbin and they lock up. Corbin shoves him back into the corner. They lock up again and Jordan ends up getting tossed through the ropes. He comes back in the ring and counters a slam by landing on his feet. Corbin finally drops Jordan with a shoulder for a 2 count. Rhyno tags in but misses a clothesline. Jordan slams him for a 2 count. Gable tags in and rolls Rhyno up for a pin attempt. Fans chant for Gable as Rhyno launches him into the corner. More back and forth. Rhyno with a shoulder and a 2 count.

Gable works on the arm and tags in Jordan for some double teaming. Jordan continues working on Rhyno’s arm. Gable comes in for a double team suplex and holds it for the 2 count. Gable with an armbar on the ropes. More back and forth. Corbin comes back in and works Gable over on the floor, slamming him into the apron a few times. Corbin with a big right hand and a 2 count. Corbin with more offense and a 2 count. Rhyno comes back in and keeps Gable grounded. Rhyno overpowers a comeback and tags Corbin back in. Corbin uses the bottom rope and applies a submission as fans chant for Gable. Corbin drops Gable and knocks Jordan off the apron. Corbin with a boot on Gable but the referee is distracted. Corbin with a 2 count. Rhyno comes back in and slams Gable. Rhyno goes to the top but misses a diving headbutt. Jordan tags in as Corbin does. Jordan unloads on both of them and sends Rhyno out to the floor. Jordan with a suplex on Corbin. Jordan with a big spear in the corner. Gable tags in but Corbin drops Jordan. Corbin catches Gable but Jordan makes the save and breaks the pin. Rhyno takes out Jordan with a belly to belly. Fans chant NXT now. Gable ends up rolling through and hitting a German suplex for a 2 count as Rhyno breaks the pin. Rhyno with a Gore on Jordan to send him to the floor. Rhyno follows. Corbin misses a clothesline but catches Gable in End of Days for the win.

Winners: Rhyno and Baron Corbin

– After the match, as Corbin and Rhyno stop and pose with the Dusty Classic Cup.

– We see WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash in the crowd.

– We get a video for Asuka’s debut.

Dana Brooke vs. Asuka

Emma and Dana Brooke are out first. Asuka is out next and fans start chanting “Asuka’s gonna kill you” before the bell. Dana denies a handshake before they go at it. They lock up and trade holds. Dana taunts Asuka and slaps her. Asuka smiles and fans chant “you fucked up” at Dana. Asuka unloads with kicks and strikes on Dana. Asuka with a Rear View. Asuka mocks Dana by doing her poses as fans pop. Dana talks trash and fights back but Asuka catches her in an armbar.

Emma ends up providing an assist and Dana takes control. Dana with a clothesline out of the corner. Dana with a body scissors as fans chant for Asuka. Asuka easily escapes the scissors and applies an ankle lock. Asuka with a big German suplex. Asuka with a jumping armbar to a big pop. She sits up on the hold but Dana comes out. Asuka immediately applies another hold. Emma gets on the apron and talks trash but Asuka decks her. Asuka goes back to work on Dana as fans chant “Asuka City” now. Asuka takes Dana down in the Asuka Lock, a crossface chicken wing and body scissors combo, for the win.

Winner: Asuka

– After the match, Asuka celebrates as we go to replays. After the match, Dana knocks Asuka’s arm away as the referee is raising it. Asuka drops her again as fans chant her name. Asuka leaves the ring and stops to stare down Emma at ringside. Emma turns and looks away as Asuka smiles at her. Asuka leaves but stops to turn around and smile some more. We go to a break.

– We come back and get a look at Finn Balor backstage. They air a Nia Jax promo.

Tyler Breeze vs. Apollo Crews

Tyler Breeze is out first for the next match as his fans at Full Sail pop. Apollo Crews is out next to a big pop. They lock up and go to the corner. Crews drops Breeze with a shoulder and connects with a nice dropkick. They go to the floor and Crews runs him over. Crews brings it back in the ring but Breeze attacks.

Crews counters with a long vertical suplex. More back and forth. Breeze dumps Crews through the ropes and to the floor. Breeze follows and whips Crews hard into the apron. Breeze brings it back in for another 2 count. Breeze with stomps and an elbow drop now. Breeze whips Crews hard into the corner for a 2 count. Breeze keeps Crews grounded now. Breeze goes on and hits a backstabber for a 2 count. Breeze goes to the top but Crews presses him. Breeze slides out and goes for a Sharpshooter. He lock it in. Crews eventually makes it to the bottom rope but Breeze keeps the hold locked in as long as he can.

Crews with a big clothesline out of nowhere. Breeze with forearms to the lower back. Breeze mounts Crews with right hands in the corner. Crews goes to slam him out of the corner but Breeze counters and drops down onto him. Crews drops Breeze with a huge kick out of nowhere. Crews comes in from the apron but sells the back injury. Breeze with a superkick for a 2 count. Breeze keeps control and goes to the top. Crews catches him on the way down with a big powerslam for a 2 count. Crews with a Gorilla Press. He goes for the standing moonsault but Breeze holds his legs. He fights him off and goes for it again but lands on Breeze’s knees. Breeze with a 2 count. Breeze with running forearms in the corner. Breeze runs into a big boot. Crews with a powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Apollo Crews

– After the match, Crews recovers as we go to replays. We come back and see Hideo Itami sitting ringside with Funaki. Crews celebrates as we go to a break.

– We see Bayley backstage preparing for the main event.

– They show highlights from the Dusty Classic matches tonight.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals: Samoa Joe and Finn Balor vs. Rhyno and Baron Corbin

We go to the ring and Dusty’s daughter-in-law Eden is doing the announcing. Baron Corbin is out first followed by Rhyno. Samoa Joe is out next followed by NXT Champion Finn Balor.

Finn starts off with Rhyno. Balor with an early pin attempt. More back and forth as Corbin comes in. We’re off to a slow start until Corbin decks Finn. Finn comes right back with a dropkick. Joe tags in and unloads on Corbin. Joe with a chop, a kick and a knee drop for a 2 count. Joe with more strikes and offense until Corbin catches him for a 2 count. Corbin mounts Joe with right hands and a 2 count. Rhyno tags in for a bit of double teaming. Rhyno with chops and strikes in the corner. Rhyno keeps control and hits a belly to belly for a 2 count.

Corbin comes back in and keeps control of Joe for another 2 count. Finn finally gets the hot tag and has issues with his leg. He runs into a big boot. Finn still nails an enziguri. Rhyno comes over and takes out Finn’s bad knee on the apron while the referee is distracted. Corbin slams Finn’s leg into the ring post a few times. Corbin keeps control for another pin attempt. Balor nails a Slingblade out of nowhere as fans rally. Joe and Rhyno get the hot tags and go at it. Joe unloads and nails a big boot. Joe with the senton. Rhyno whips Joe into the corner but Joe slams him. Joe with a STO on Corbin. Joe turns around to a Gore from Rhyno but Finn breaks the pin up. Finn with a DDT on Corbin. Finn sends Corbin to the floor. Rhyno knocks Finn to the floor. Rhyno runs into a kick from Joe. More back and forth until Joe and Balor get the win.

Winners of the WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic: Samoa Joe and Finn Balor

– After the match, the Rhodes family comes in to present the cup to Joe and Balor. Cody Rhodes talks about remembering and respecting The Dream. Cody talks about how fans let Dusty into their homes for years and makes it official – everyone is a Rhodes tonight. Fans chant for Dusty as his theme music hits. Joe and Balor raise the cup as a “thank you Dusty” chant starts. Joe and Balor pose with the Rhodes family to end it.

– We come back from a break and see Stephanie McMahon, Lita, Becky Lynch and WWE Divas Champion Charlotte at ringside. Fans are very rowdy as the announcers hype tonight’s main event and we get a video.

30-Minute Iron Man Match for the NXT Women’s Title: Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

We see Sasha Banks backstage as she begins her entrance to a pop. We see NXT Women’s Champion Bayley backstage as fans start chanting her name. Out she comes to a big pop.

Bayley’s family is at ringside with superman Izzy. Greg Hamilton does formal ring introductions as fans chant for Bayley. A big “women’s wrestling” chant starts before the bell. They also chant “this is awesome” and “you deserve it” before they even lock up. They finally lock up and Sasha pushes Bayley off after tangling. They lock up again as we get dueling chants. Sasha with a headlock. Sasha with a 2 count and a roll up for 1. Sasha with another pin attempt and a headlock. Bayley drops Sasha with a shoulder for a pin attempt. Bayley with a few more pin attempts as they face off 0-0 with 27 minutes left.

More back and forth and pin attempts. Sasha nails a dropkick. Sasha goes on but Bayley catches her in a big hip toss and another that drops Sasha on her neck and shoulder. Bayley with a 2 count. Sasha counters but gets sent to the apron. Sasha goes to the top and tosses Bayley across the ring. Bayley blocks a Banks Statement. Sasha blocks a Belly to Bayley. Bayley extends her hand and helps Sasha up. They shake and fans cheer. They go to hug but Sasha slams Bayley to the mat for a close 2 count. Sasha runs into an elbow and gets tossed across the ring. Bayley with a splash and more offense. Bayley with a dropkick that sends Sasha to the floor. Bayley dropkicks Sasha under the bottom rope. And another on the opposite side of the ring. Bayley brings it back in the ring and trips Sasha on her face. Bayley with a bulldog and a 2 count.

Sasha gets a 2 count and argues with the referee. This leads to her blocking the referee’s view and hitting Bayley with a thumb to the eyes for the three count and the first fall.

Sasha keeps control until Bayley slams her head into the turnbuckles repeatedly. Sasha turns it around and sends Bayley face first into the turnbuckles. Bayley blocks the double knees and drops Sasha chin first into the corner. Bayley gets the second fall after a Bayley to Belly.

They end up on the floor and Bayley gets dropped right in front of her family. Sasha talks trash to her family and brings it back in for a 2 count. They go back to the floor and Sasha sends Bayley into the LED board. Sasha comes back to the ring and Bayley gets counted out. Sasha is up 2-1. Sasha is running around with Izzy’s headband on and we see Izzy crying. They eventually come back in with Sasha in control. Bayley barely hangs on after another 2 count. Bayley kicks Sasha off but Sasha gets the Crab applied after stomping on her broken hand. Bayley makes it to the bottom rope and breaks the hold. Bayley gets a three count out of nowhere to tie it 2-2.

Lots more back and forth action for a few more minutes. Sasha hits the knees in the corner for another close 2 count. Sasha ties Bayley upside down in the corner and charges but misses and hits the ring post. They fight on the floor and Bayley slams Sasha’s hand on the steps. Bayley brings it back in for a 2 count. Bayley knocks Sasha back to the floor by her injured arm. Bayley leaps off the steps with a big clothesline as fans pop. Sasha kicks Bayley back into the steps. Sasha leaps out onto Bayley but she catches her in a Bayley to Belly on the floor. A big “holy shit” chant starts. Bayley brings it back in for a 2 count.

Bayley takes Sasha to the top but they’re both dragging. Sasha fights Bayley off. Bayley comes back and climbs up but Sasha sends her back to the mat. Bayley runs back up and hits a super Bayley to Belly for a pin attempt but Sasha’s foot was on the bottom rope. The pin does not count. More back and forth and close calls. Sasha gets the submission locked in with 2 minutes to go but Bayley manages to get out. Bayley slams Sasha’s fingertips into the mat. Sasha with another Banks Statement but Bayley counters with her submission with 15 second left. The bell rings with the submission locked in and Bayley wins 3-2.

Winner: Bayley

– After the bell, Sasha is out on her face as Bayley starts to recover. Bayley is announced the winner and both start to get up. We see Becky, Charlotte and Lita at ringside. We go to replays and come back to an emotional Bayley with her title. The NXT roster is out also. Stephanie, Sara Del Rey, William Regal and Triple H give flowers to Sasha when she exits as fans chant “thank you Sasha” and Bayley looks on from the ring. Triple H enters the ring and presents Bayley with flowers also. He raises her arm as Sasha and the roster looks on. Fans start another “you deserve it” chant. Takeover goes off the air with everyone cheering Bayley on.
