AWF WRESTLING

YEAR END EXTRAVAGANZA

MINTO, NSW

SAT 1 DECEMBER, 2007

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) returns to it’s hotbed in the Campbelltown area, debuting at The Minto Indoor Sports Centre to present it’s “Year End Extravaganza” on Saturday 1 December with a huge evening of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers and international visitor from the USA, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman.

The feature bout for the Year End Extravaganza in Minto will see AWF’s most popular wrestler and local Campbelltown resident Mark “The Hammer” Hilton against USA’s Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, in a bout that promises to be an exciting high flying wrestling classic.

Both X-Pac and Hilton possess many similar characteristics. Both competitors compete with a technical and high flying style, are black belt martial artists, weigh in similar and are the same height. The two are virtually evenly matched physically which should make for a fantastic competitive bout.

X-Pac has held numerous Championships around the world, and is a former WWE Cruiserweight and Tag Team Champion, as well as TNA X Division & WCW Cruiserweight Champion. He was an intricate part of two of the most influential wrestling factions of the 90’s in the New World Order and D-Generation X, and has since played a major part in MTV’s Wrestling Society X, Triple A in Mexico, and the rebirth of the NWA in the USA. X-Pac’s skills are at the top of the business, and controversy always follows, so anything probably will happen when X-Pac hits the AWF ring.

Hilton is a former AWF Australasian Champion and has had an eventful 2007 taking it to some of the best wrestlers in the world including Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries and Billy Kidman. Hilton has been super focused in recent months downing international visitors such as Ireland’s Harry Hardshaw, and Lebanon’s Lebo Ceda, and is looking to defeat X-Pac to lift him to the top of the AWF rankings, to be in line for a title shot in 2008.

The Hilton Vs X-Pac bout will be an exciting display of action packed wrestling that promises to be one of the best pound for pound match ups of 2007.

In other anticipated action, AWF Australasian Champion; TNT will battle Jay Law with the AWF Title on the line.

TNT has been continuing his winning ways, defeating the world’s best, and is reigning AWF Champion, remaining unbeaten since January.

Law has been a top contender for both singles titles in AWF. He has recently been waging war with Powerhouse Theo over the Young Lion’s Title and has come close to winning the championship. In February Law battled TNT at The King Tom Club and also came very close to winning the AWF Championship. Since the February loss, Law has toured the USA, intensely training and wrestling, and has returned even more aggressive and polished. Will this be Law’s time? We will find out.

A massive Mixed 6 Person Tag Match will pit The Surf Club of Scotty Club, Dr Waxhead and femme fatale Bodacious Bo against The Freakshow of Il Cognito, Massive Q, and their un named sideshow performer valet. The last time Surf Club and The Freakshow met in regular tag team action the girls got involved and all hell broke lose. This time the action will be legal, but promises to be even wilder!

Other action on the card will see Young Lion’s Championship action with Powerhouse Theo defending against Lebanon’s gigantic Lebo Ceda, Billy Flyswat and Steve Ravenous culminate their feud with a “Minto Street Fight”, tag team action will pit The Platinum Players; Kid Dynamite & Minto local JT Robinson against Chris X & Bluey Bonza, plus Toxin takes on Nick Ferno, plus many surprises on the night.

Preceding the Year End Extravaganza Live event, there will a Meet and Greet at 5pm. Fans will be able to ask the wrestlers questions, obtain autographs and photos, and get up close to X-Pac, TNT, The Platinum Players and other the AWF stars.

“AWF Year End Extravaganza” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at The Minto Indoor Sports Centre right next to Minto train station.

We advise to book early via the AWF Website to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.

AWF WRESTLING

YEAR END EXTRAVAGANZA

CENTRAL COAST, NSW

SUN 2 DECEMBER, 2007

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) returns to The Central Coast Youth Club to present it’s “Year End Extravaganza” on Sunday 2 December with a huge evening of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers and international visitor from the USA, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman.

After a huge debut show in October, with the Niagara Park audience lapping up the action, AWF returns hungry to end the year with a bang, and top the previous show with an even better event from top to bottom.

The main event for the Year End Extravaganza Central Coast will pit the AWF Australasian Champion TNT against USA’s Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, in a bout that has all the makings of a wrestling classic.

Both X-Pac and TNT posses a similar technical and high flying style and are both well rounded and experienced world class professional wrestlers.

X-Pac’s skills are at the top of the business, and controversy always follows, so anything probably will happen when the AWF Title is on the line.

TNT has been red hot in 2007. In January he became AWF Australasian Champion. In March he won the AWA World Title. For the remainder of 2007 he has faced the best competition in the world, taking former world champions such as Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, and Sabu to their limits.

The TNT Vs X-Pac bout will be a true display of pro-wrestling that fans will not want to miss.

In other heart pounding action, Young Lion’s Champion Powerhouse Theo will battle intense rival Jay Law for the championship the two have been feuding over for the last 3 months. Jay Law has been interfering in Theo’s business, trying to cost him the YLC, and bad mouthing and baiting Theo at any chance. Law was defeated by Theo at The Factory on 21 October, however Law cited legal issues and protested for a rematch, and received one due to an incorrectly signed championship bout contract. An infuriated Theo told AWF officials “Enough is enough, at Year End Extravaganza, I will be the judge, jury and executioner! Jay Law you will feel the Power, and it will end YOU!”

Other bouts on the card will see Tag Team Title action with The Surf Club taking on Central Coast local Billy Flyswat and the exciting Chris X, wrestling gangsters “The Platinum Players” will be forced to go against each other in 3 way action, “The Freakshow” lead by Il Cognito will test a new potential member “The Stand Up Guy” Max Comic, plus there will be more action and many surprises on the night.

Preceding the Year End Extravaganza Live event, there will a Meet and Greet at 4pm that will last for approximately an hour. Fans will be able to ask the wrestlers questions, obtain autographs and photos, and get up close to X-Pac, TNT, The Platinum Players and other the AWF stars.

“AWF Year End Extravaganza” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at The Central Coast Youth Club in Niagara Park.

We advise to book early via the AWF Website or from the venue to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.

AWF NEWSWIRE

The Year End “X”travaganza is approaching, December 1 & 2, and American wrestling star X-PAC invades AWF rings to face AWF’s top two fan favourites in Mark Hilton and TNT.

Regardless of the outcome of the Hilton bout at Minto on 1 Dec, X-Pac has been granted an AWF Australasian Title shot on the basis of his strong history of Championship wins and recent form in Mexico. AWF Champion, TNT through the years has often been compared by fans as having a similar style to X-Pac, so it will be an interesting battle on 2 Dec at Central Coast Youth Club to say the least. That being the case, if TNT survives the onslaught of Jay Law on 1 Dec at Minto.

In all it’s going to be one hell of a Year End “X”travaganza that fans will not want to miss!

October Wrestlefest from 5-7 October saw all AWF Championships remain in tact.

TNT was successful in AWF Australasian Title defences against DragonGate Japan’s Super Shenron and Gamma.

Tag Team Champions “The Surf Club” defeated Platinum Players, Black Venum & Pub Rockers to remain on top of the tag team division.

Young Lion’s Champion Powerhouse Theo stepped up pinning Super Shenron, and taking it to the more experienced Gamma in an exciting non title bout at Blacktown.

The events also saw Sabu return to AWF rings defeating Il Cognito & Steve Ravenous, and going to a no contest with TNT when the Platinum Players interfered.
Supanova on 13 & 14 October at The Dome in Homebush, NSW turned out to be an eventful weekend with lots of fun had by all.

Major news from the event saw Massive Q turn on friend TNT at the conclusion of the TNT Vs Il Cognito Title bout on 13 Oct. The next day Il Cognito announced he was forming a group to be known as “The Freakshow” and Q would be the first member.

Other noteworthy events saw the rivalry between Powerhouse Theo and Jay Law escalate, with both men interjecting and viewing the others bouts.

“7 Foot Thunder” Conan Stephens returned to AWF action defeating Ireland’s Harry Hardshaw dressed in Leprechaun regalia. Hardshaw was so beaten up after the bout that he may not compete in AWF again, which is a shame, because he was just starting to really find his stride in the ring.

There were also celebrity guest appearances by Fat Momma, and Sam “Flash Gordon” Jones as part of the proceedings.

Organisers were happy with the reaction AWF received and will look to make AWF part of future events.

On 20 October AWF debuted at the Central Coast Youth Club, Niagara Park, NSW in front of 250 enthusiastic fans for a great night of AWF action for the first of three “Pro-Wrestling Showdown” events. In the main bouts The Surf Club downed The Freakshow, Powerhouse Theo pinned Chris X and TNT & Raven teamed to down all 3 Platinum Players. After the bout TNT detonated Kid Dynamite on the AWF Title busting him open.

21 October saw AWF at The Factory Theatre, Enmore, NSW in front of a small crowd of only 70 fans. Main bouts saw TNT and Billy Flyswat go to a no contest after Platinum Players interfered, Conan Stephens downed Lebo Ceda, Powerhouse Theo bested Jay Law, and Raven with help from Bodacious Bo downed The Platinum Players. In the end JT Robinson was singled out by Raven, and TNT & Flyswat joined in on the celebrations, humiliating JT mid ring.

Another small crowd turned out to The Croxton Park Hotel, Thornbury, Vic on 26 October to see main results of Spike Steele downing Billy Flyswat, Powerhouse Theo pinning Mad Dog Mcrea and TNT & Raven besting the Bastard Brothers.

The main thing to come out of the Enmore & Thornbury events were that the crowds were AWF’s smallest in years. It is a shame these events were not supported as the shows were great and the venues are excellent. It will be difficult to return to these areas for a long time. L

A big shout out to AWF fans Jeremy and Jess who traveled from Northern Territory to come to the October Wrestlefest events and gave us great support, and Alan Absolom who came all the way Tasmania once again, to support the Pro-Wrestling Showdown. If we had more loyal fans like you guys Australian wrestling would be much better off. AWF thanks you guys for your big efforts and support! You guys rock!
