Over 20,000 people attended Eddie Andelman’s 18th Annual HOT DOG SAFARI at Suffolk Downs in East Boston, MA yesterday (Sunday, June 3).  The event, which is a benefit for The Joey Fund, which battles Cystic Fibrosis, raised over $500,000 for this worthy cause.  Portion of the event were broadcast live on CN8, the Comcast Network.

New England Championship Wrestling and World Women’s Wrestling were the featured entertainment for the day, putting on a day long combined live event.  The results and highlights of this extraordinary day:

In a wild opening six-man contest, 2D Edge (Pat Masters & Jose Perez) & Triplelicious defeated the team of The Kreeper, Iraqnid, and Nick Amaral.

In a WWW feature match, Ms. Della Morte scored a tainted pinfall win over Cha Cha when Mistress Belmont interfered. Cha Cha challenged the two to a tag match later in the night when Nikki Roxx arrived from her delayed flight.

The debuting, dancing Curry Boy fell to Jon Thornhill via a half-nelson/chickenwing suplex.

Sean Gorman and NECW Triple Crown Champion DC Dillinger came out to address the fans at the Safari. They made some harsh remarks and were confronted by “The Real Deal” Brandon locke who sent Dillinger packing for safer ground.

“Big” Max Bauer scored a big win over the returning thrid generation star the “Rocket” Fred Curry.

Handsome Johnny and “The Human Nightmare” Evan Siks battles to a double count out.

“Big” Max Bauer eliminated Handsome Johnny, Evan Siks and Fred Curry in the closing moments of the match to win the 2nd annual NECW Hot Dog Safari Rumble.

Brian Cairo endeared himself to the fans in attendance by insulting them, the Red Sox, and Boston culture. He then began to sing the Canadian National Anthem, but stopped and left the ring refusing to complete the sing for the “rude people”.

The debuting “Irish Ambassador” Gary Cassidy got his first NECW victory with a hard-fought pinfall over “The Talent” TJ Richter. Portions of this match aired live on the Comcast CN8 Network.

The upstart team of Nikki Roxx and Cha Cha battled the rain and managed stereo spinebusters to simultaneously pin Mistress Belmont and Della Morte in the tag team WWW feature.

Rick Fuller and “Straight Edge” Brian Fury battled to an exciting 15-minute time limit draw.

The Canadian Superstars (J-Busta & Dave Cole) with Brian Cairo defeated Kreeper and Iraqnid with a powerbomb-backcracker combo.

Comcast CN8 Network host of “Out of Bounds” John Carchedi came into the ring to do a live interview for the CN8 broadcast with NECW Triple Crown Champion DC Dillinger and his manager Sean Gorman. Dillinger tried to intimidate Carchedi who said he expected such a thing to happen so he had back-up planned. Out ran “Straight Edge” Brian Fury who literally ripped the dress clothes off the champion and sent him packing in his underwear and socks. Fury and Carchedi high-fived and Fury walked out carrying the Triple Crown gold.

Ring Announcer “Stormin'” Chris Norman announced that members of the NECW family had faired extremely well in the annual Hot Dog Safari Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest. One member of the NECW roster, Handsome Johnny, had upset the competition and was victorious! Handsome Johnny came back to the ring to gloat that he had once again found a way to rise above the average people around him.

In the main event, “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke upset and pinned NECW Triple Crown Champion DC Dillinger in a non-title match. Fans were so excited with the victory of Locke, that members of the crowd hoisted “The Real Deal” on their shoulders!

NECW returns to live action this Saturday night, June 9, for the 4th Annual IRON 8 Championship.  World Women’s Wrestling returns the following night, Sunday, June 10, at Good Time Emporium in Somerville, MA.
