Here are some of the highlights from Kaz’s appearance on the show, provided by The Mayhem’s co-host, The Big Mosh.

Mosh & Blade welcome Kaz back to the show (for the first time in close to four years), a long-time friend of The Mayhem. Blade wished to inform the listening audience that himself & The Big Mosh would not be fielding any questions for Kaz involving the cutting of hair nor a certain superstar that shares his name with a hit ’80’s TV show (“Hunter”). With that being said, The Mayhem was up for its first interview of 2008!
Kaz said that he has been enjoying his time with the company over the past few months, and agrees with the old-age expression, “hard work & dedication pays off.” He is thankful that he has been given the opportunity to work against guys the likes of Christian Cage & Kurt Angle recently, and proving the “Doubting Thomas’ of the world” out there wrong. Kaz believes that he has proved to everyone that he “can hang with” the main-eventers in both TNA & the WWE. Momentum is on his side into the new year.
As a result of being given this opportunity (which he defines as the biggest of his career so far), he knows that he has to step up his A-game — something he feels that the fans around the world have seen. Kaz still describes himself as the same Kaz from Day One in TNA, and that he has not lost who he is personally, even with his elevation within the ranks in the business. He is very thankful of where he is going into the beginning of the new year in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Kaz feels ready for his match against Black Reign at Final Resolution. He describes working with Dustin Rhodes as “exciting & something different.” Having worked guys such as Angle, Christian, & Bobby Roode over the past six months or so, this match with Black Reign will be a different level of physicality, a different level of mind games, & a new challenge — which is something he embraces. He is looking forward to getting a measure of revenge as well on Black Reign, for putting a plastic bag over his head with his rat (Misty) a few weeks ago on iMPACT. What will happen when these two collide? Tune in tonight to find out!

Back in the summer of 2003, Kaz was part of the first Ultimate X match. Since that point in time, we have seen different variations of the Ultimate X bout (including tonight’s match with Team 3-D & Johnny Devine vs, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal & The Motor City Machine Guns). Kaz looks back on that match five years ago still as one of his career-defining moments, and that the Ultimate X has indeed changed the wrestling business. Kaz does not think the Ultimate X matches are “played out,” but should be used in the proper context, to prevent the contest from being overused. “The Ultimate X match is very dangerous, very high-risk, & very special.” He is looking forward to seeing tonight’s bout, especially with seeing Team 3-D “trying” to climb the cables.
On the heels of TNA iMPACT’s most recent programming & its very successful Nielsen ratings, the huge crowds that attended the Canada house show swing at the end of December, drawing well over 25,000 fans in Japan’s Tokyo Dome for their joint show with New Japan Wrestling, & TNA’s upcoming house shows this month, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has been having their busiest month on record in company history. Kaz honestly believes that it is truly great to be a part of TNA right now. The fact that the company is still growing since Day One, from the Wednesday night TNA PPV’s to where they stand right now with iMPACT on Spike TV every Thursday night for two hours, is very rewarding & refreshing. From how he sees things, the morale is really good in the locker room.
Blade asked Kaz what he thinks TNA can do to continue to expand its fan base to non-wrestling fans. He believes that it is essential to reach out to those who are watching TV. Keeping everything fresh is also integral, he feels. “The wrestling has never been a question” without a doubt, but Kaz’s take is this simple: having new storylines, fresh characters, & beautiful women will help the company take things to an even higher level.
Kaz also is very proud of coming out victorious against “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles in the Reindeer Suit Match on the Christmas edition of TNA iMPACT — as he described holding the reindeer head in his hand after the match as “surreal.” Kaz agrees with Mosh’s take of AJ becoming “a modern-day Andy Kaufmann with athletic ability,” as the wrestling fans around the world have seen a newer side of AJ over the past year. Kaz also teased the listening audience by saying that he thinks his battles with Styles are far from over. Working with AJ in various matches/contests over the years are also some of Kaz’s proudest moments.
Kaz also gave his uncensored thoughts/takes on the leaked copy of the TNA iMPACT script, the full story on meeting Mike Tenay back in 1997 at a WCW on-sale date in San Diego, CA (that “The Professor prefaced in his Mayhem appearance back several weeks ago) & how “he called his shot” of telling Tenay how he would call one of his matches one day in the future, training & working with John Cena & Samoa Joe in his time in the California independent scene, any regrets about his departure from the WWE, whether or not he thinks the X-Division “defeated” the Cruiserweight division, his comparisons to others in the entertainment business with one name (Cher, Bono, Sting), whether or not Kaz stills enjoys his Pop Tarts (something Kaz went on record saying was his guilty pleasure food when he started in professional wrestling) & his love for Metallica. An excellent way to kick off your 2008…spending some time with the star who Mosh & Blade predict will be in the main event for TNA’s Bound For Glory PPV this year!
