Unfortunately, IWC was forced to postpone their Checkmate live event, scheduled for June 16th. But IWC will be back and better than ever on 07/07/07 when we bring you the most anticipated match of 2007: JOE vs. ROWE!

“The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe vs. “The Baddest Man in IWC” Raymond Rowe
Raymond Rowe’s first year in IWC was unlike any other. He jettisoned to stardom with his impressive strength and incredible performance after performance. Despite being a pro-Cleveland wrestler in the Pittsburgh area, the fans took to Rowe, and suddenly, he became one of the most popular stars in IWC. His career-making performance at Boiling Point 2 in September shows just why the fans took to Rowe in the first place. He, along with his Cleveland Mafia partner “The Big Daddy of Destruction” J-Rocc, took down 3 other teams in a huge scramble match. Then later in the night, when Shirley Doe seemingly had no opponent in the IWC Title Tournament, Rowe stepped up to take on the then-leader of the Unholy Alliance. Moments away from making the longest reigning IWC champion in history, Doe, tap out, the Unholy Alliance interfered with an alcohol-soaked rag, and Rowe moved on in the tournament. With fatigue and effects fo the alcohol setting in, Rowe passed out while in the dragon sleeper of the eventual winner, Ricky Reyes. Since then, Rowe has been an unstoppable monster, whose only issues came about due to outside interference or cheating by his opponents. Samoa Joe isn’t that kind of man. He is a remorseless submission master, the longest Ring of Honor champion in that company’s history, and a former TNA X-Division Champion. But he does not cheat. He is a straightforward monster in his own right, just like Rowe. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object on July 7th in Elizabeth, PA in the single most anticipated match in IWC for 2007!

IWC World Heavyweight Title Match:
Dennis Gregory defends against Ricky Reyes

Two matches stemmed from the IWC World Heavyweight Title Match at Super Indy VI on May 11th. Dennis Gregory and his hired hitman, “The Shooter” Brent Albright, screwed former champion Ricky Reyes out of the title. Gregory’s war strategy to get the title back upon his return to IWC after an Air Force mission in Afghanistan can only be described as “by hook or by crook”. Albright laid Reyes out with a chair shot and allowed Denny to get the pin. But now, Gregory will be making his first IWC World Heavyweight Title defense of his 4th reign on July 7th. He’ll be taking on the man he pinned for the title and the former champion, Reyes!

No Rules Match:
“The Shooter” Brent Albright vs. Jon Bolen
After Gregory revealed his plan at Super Indy VI, Reyes came to and tried to attack both men. He was beaten down when the odds were 2-on-1, but making the save, and his long-awaited return to IWC, was Jon Bolen! Fresh from a stint as a WWE developmental talent in OVW and DSW, Bolen was just visiting his friends in the IWC locker room when he saw the events go down in the ring. After seeing his former Team IWC partner brutally attack Reyes, Bolen rushed to the ring to assert himself into the situation. Albright and Gregory ran off, but not before the damage was done to Reyes. Bolen petitioned IWC officials for a match with Albright in the days following. But apparently Albright would not accept the match unless it was a No Rules Match. Bolen agreed, and now Jon Bolen will return to the ring in a No Rules Match against Brent Albright in a battle of former OVW stars!

IWC Tag Team Title Match:
Michael “The Bomber” Facade & Johnny Gargano defend against The Gambino Brothers
Yet another first title defense will be made on July 7th. The IWC crowd stood in shock as they realized referee Bobby Williams’ hand hit the three-count against J-Rocc & Raymond Rowe and awarded Michael “The Bomber” Facade and the debuting Johnny Gargano the IWC Tag Team Titles. Never before have the Tag Team Titles been awarded to two men teaming together for the first time, let alone a debuting young star winning a title in his first match in IWC! The glory of the title win might be over, however. Now, the new team has to focus on their first defense at Summer Sizzler 4: Checkmate. Facade & Gargano will have to defend the titles against the men who lost the titles in the gauntlet match, Mickey & Marshall, the Gambino Brothers! The Gambinos’ fiery tempers have been flaring since they lost the belts on May 11th, and they’re going to be on the warpath come July 7th. The miracle story of Super Indy may come to an end, unless Facade & Gargano can pull out another incredible victory.

Winners Get a Shot at the Tag Team Titles on July 21st:
Sexual Harassment vs. The Hollywood Balds
Two teams that are shifting their focus towards July 21st are Sexual Harassment and the Hollywood Balds. Both teams took the Cleveland Mafia to the limit in the Tag Title Gauntlet Match at Super Indy VI. The Cleveland Mafia eventually went on to pin the IWC Tag Team Champions The Gambino Brothers in that same gauntlet match. As a result, IWC officials granted both teams a match on July 7th where the winners will face the Tag Team Champions on July 21st. “The Aerial Icon” Justin Idol & “The Sexual Icon” Eric Xtasy will face Vendetta & “DeeeeeLicious” Jimmy DeMarco for a shot at either The Gambino Brothers or current champs Michael Facade & Johnny Gargano at Ellsworth Basebrawl 2007!

IWC Promoter Norm Connors has invited
Sterling James Keenan
to return to IWC and accept a future IWC Title Shot!
IWC Promoter Norm Connors knows when to admit he’s made a mistake. On May 11th at Super Indy VI, he admitted that he made 2 on April 14th. He admitted that he made a mistake trusting Dennis Gregory. And he admitted that he made a mistake when he fired Sterling James Keenan. On April 14th at Throwdown / Stay Down, SJK was ready to pin “The Shooter” Brent Albright to win his shot at the IWC World Heavyweight Title and finally end his road to the title. But, as referee Bobby Williams was out cold from a sick implant DDT from Albright, Norm Connors was forced to insert himself into the match as the referee, as has been done in the past. However, prior to the event, Norm was persuaded by Gregory to screw SJK out of his title shot. Gregory manipulated Connors to believing SJK was restarting the Unholy Alliance, only so Gregory could line himself up to win the IWC title back on May 11th. Connors counted to two before yelling “SCREW YOU” at Keenan. That left SJK to be laid out and pinned by Albright as Connors counted the pinfall. Afterwards, Connors delivered the now-infamous line “You quit on us, we quit on you. You’re fired!” Now, Connors is willing to admit he made a mistake screwing SJK out of his title shot. As a sign of goodwill, Norm has invited Sterling James Keenan to appear at Checkmate and accept a future shot at the IWC World Heavyweight Title! Will SJK show up? Will he even accept Connors’ goodwill gesture?
