PWO FIRST TV TAPING A SUCCESS; TV DEBUT ON 11/3!

This past Saturday night, Pro Wrestling Ohio, perhaps the most talked about new promotion in wrestling today, held its first live event and television taping at the Lakewood Masonic Temple in Lakewood, Ohio just outside Cleveland, and to say it was a success may be an understatement. The event, from the opening bell to the main event, was a fact-paced adrenaline-fueled showcase of what the PWO roster is capable of, complete with a raucous crowd of fans who came out in mass to support the beginning of the PWO era. It was an absolutely electric atmosphere and the best part about it is… it was only the beginning.

Gagne announced that the American Wrestling Association (AWA) will no longer sanction independent territories effective immediately. NECW returned to the National Guard Armory in Quincy , MA this past Saturday night, October 27th for FIGHTS & FRIGHTS – a jam-packed card with tons of action and a number of big surprises.To start the event, Brian Cairo interrupts ring announcer Chris Norman and says how 2007 was supposed to be the year of Team Cairo, to date it hasn’t been good “but the year ain’t over yet”. Cairo calls out Scott Osbourne, talking about for his abilities, potential and his future as a Champion. Next Cairo calls out the Canadian Superstars (J-Busta and Dave Cole). Cairo says they WERE the best team in the business, they fell apart and were unable to regain the belts they lost. Cairo blames the Canadians for being selfish, self- centered and now that they are all on the same page again, success will come. Busta and Cole began to respond and Cairo acted indignant. Dave Cole went to grab Cairo and Osbourne stepped in the way.  (Continued…..)

Biographies are not new to pro wrestling. World Wrestling Entertainment has put out biographies of their superstars since the late 1990’s when Mick Foley wrote the first of his three NY Times Bestsellers. Since then we have seen books from people deserving one like the Rock, Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and William Regal.) I have read all of them and never felt compelled to write about one, until now.

At an initial glance of the roster there is one superstar who I didn’t think deserved a book about them, that was until I read his book and truly believe he deserved it be published and receive the accolades that I hope will follow. That person is Dave Bautista AKA “the Animal” Batista the multi-time World Heavyweight champion. With the help of writer Jeremy Roberts, Bautista (the real spelling of his name according to the opening pages) give wrestling fans BATISTA UNLEASHED (WWE/Pocket Books, 305 pp, $26.00) one of the most honest books ever, not just in wrestling.
