Rated O Radio – Episode 62 Recap (05/01/2008)

 This week’s show includes all of your favourite segments: “Tha Os and No’s,” “Road Stories,” “Tha Pit Stop,” “Tha Round Table,” as well as the announcement of the winner of Tha O Hoe contest! Joining Dan-e-o and Big Daddy Donnie in-studio this week is Ontario Indy Superstar Hayden “Hippy” Avery.

 

Segment #1 – “Tha O’s and No’s”

Donnie O’s for:

- Raw’s controversial ending, which established William Regal as a top-level heel

- Shawn Michael’s dominating win over Batista at Backlash

- Mike Adamle walking out of the ECW broadcast before the main event, although the negative aspects of the angle are also discussed

 

Donnie No’s for:

- the marks who thought Regal buried Kennedy’s return

- the WWE ignoring the fans’ negative responses to Cena and Batista

- Triple H winning the WWE title, because he doesn’t need it and Orton was doing such a good job as champ

- Matt Hardy winning the U.S. title, comparing him to 80’s stars who didn’t need titles to get over

 

Dan-e-o O’s for:

- Regal’s stiff punch on Mr. Kennedy

- Jericho’s Highlight Reel, which included old school highlights and planted the seed for a feud with Shawn Michaels

 

Dan-e-o No’s for:

- TNA’ s wacky stipulations and Jim Cornette as Head of TNA Management – and Dan-e-o gives his impression of Cornette from last week’s iMPACT!

 

Hayden chips in with his own O’s and No’s: he O’s for Santino vs. Cody Rhodes on Raw (which gave Santino a chance to show his skills), but No’s for Katie Lea’s promo.

Segment #2 – “Road Stories”

Hayden teams up with fellow Ontario Indy Superstar Josh Alexander for one of the best “Road Stories” of all time, which involves The Flatliners’ Asylum drinking after the GCW show in Angus, Ontario. After more than a few drinks, the boys decide to get something to eat at McDonald’s, where Asylum causes a scene, yelling at the customers and stealing food (not to mention, the promoter and the promoter’s wife show up soon after). Hayden finally gets him to leave the restaurant, but during the car ride home, the story gets even more unbelievable (and yes, puke is involved). In an unofficial “shit-talkin” segment, the boys discuss Mick Foley’s move to the broadcast booth on SmackDown! Also, Donnie reveals some of the latest news from the past week:

- Michael Hayes’ racist comments directed toward Bobby Lashley and Raw writer and on-screen character Dave Kapoor

- Boogeyman being ordered to get replacement teeth (could it signal the end of the character?)

- Maria getting groped by a fan during an overseas tour, causing Umaga to get hot

- Ultimate Warrior challenging Vince McMahon to a match at WrestleMania XXV

- Great Khali is returning to India and will be off TV for awhile

- WWE’s theme CD plummeting down the charts

Segment #3

The winner of “Tha O Hoe” contest is: contestant #4, Kay! She joins the boys on the phone to express her gratitude in becoming part of Tha O Show. Next week she’ll join the crew in-studio, where the drinks will be flowin’, and she promises a sexy wardrobe.

 

“Tha Pit Stop”

Notorious TID starts by discussing the recent roster cuts in UFC. TID says Dana White’s new mandate is that anyone who loses on the undercard will get cut! Kalib Starnes, Charles McCarthy, Joe Doerksen, Travis Lutter, Hermes Franca, and Hector Ramirez are the latest casualties, although TID explains why the talent shouldn’t get down on themselves. TID answers the question, “Would Brock Lesnar get cut if he loses to Mark Coleman?” TID also reveals which former UFC fighter is running for office in Oregon. And TID’s favourite” fighter, Ken Shamrock, is opening up a MMA school and the Notorious One also gives Shamrock props for helping legalize MMA in Arizona. Segment #4 -”Tha Round Table”

Hulk Hogan’s alleged incestuous behaviour with his daughter Brooke is discussed first, and Donnie, Dan-e-o and Hayden all think the media coverage is overblown. Other topics of discussion:

- Petey Williams having his orbital bone broken at the iMPACT! tapings on Tuesday – Hayden suffered a similar injury in October 2006 and has a unique take on Petey’s situation, including how he must have felt as it happened and what kind of recovery he can expect

- “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s uneventful appearance on Raw

- Undertaker being stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown!

- Sandman being drunk beyond belief in a match with Necro Butcher in Syracuse, forcing Necro to pretty much bury himself in the match – Sandman has officially been inducted into the “Lick Our Balls Club,” which now features Test, Michael Hayes, and Sandman
