The Kingfish Arnie Katz puts some heat on a few of the folks who script the dramatic segments on WWE and TNA TV shows.

There is no fan so soulless as to have never said, “I wish they’d do it this way,” when watching professional wrestling in the relative quiet of their living room. And it would dishonest not to admit that all of us have occasionally enjoyed Walter Mitty-esque dreams of taking over the booking at TNA or WWE to “show them how it should be done.”

That’s part of the fun of being a smart wrestling fan. It’s like the privilege of second-guessing baseball umpires and debating the judges’ scoring in MMA and boxing.

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, profiles the newest member of the Smackdown roster. The Carnival Freak defeated MVP in his debut match on the Blue Brand.

The week between Christmas and New Years is notorious as a slow time in wrestling. Many stars take the time to spend with their families. The biggest news of the week in the WWE was the arrival of Kizarny. The former Sinn Bowdee/Bowdie really surprised a lot of people with his agility and power. This veteran of the ring wars is this week’s OWW: Wrestler of the Week.

The Kingfish Arnie Katz starts a new year of columns with a look at some of the things that he expects fans will see in the next 12 months.

The start of a new year is always the time for summaries of the year just ended and predictions about the one that’s about to begin. My colleague Jay Shannon did a fine job of reviewing the year with a pair of columns you need to go read, so I’m going to concentrate on looking forward.
