Against All Odds: Preview & Predictions

The Kingfish Arnie Katz gets you ready for TNA’s February pay per view event!.

Against All Odds is the pay per view at which TNA’s underdogs have their day, at least to some extent. The February pay per view has several of what appear to be slam-dunk matches, but outcomes are likely to be less certain than usual on this show.

A can of the card suggests that not much will be settle at Against All Odds, though the action will be up to TNA’s high standards. Injuries have made it difficult for TNA writers to advance the plot as they probably intended and this is likely to be a “catch up” show, where a lot of things will happen very quickly.

Let’s look at the card match by match…

Shannon: Against All Odds Predictions

HeadLocker — Jay Shannon

My Against All Odds Predictions (and suggestiong)

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, takes an in-depth look at this Sunday’s TNA Pay Per View. He looks at the matches, themselves, and the future remifications from this show.

TNA is in a tough spot on Sunday. The WWE’s Royal Rumble drained a lot of PPV budgets, especially if (like me) a person did the three PPV package deal. TNA’s really going to have to throw everything they have into this one. They have some really solid matches. My only concern is how the finishes are going to happen. I think fans are going to be surprised (and not necessarily in a good way) by how Russo and the boys do this one.

Katz Files: IS WWE Wimping Out?

The Katz Files – Arnie Katz

Is WWE Wimping Out?

The Kingfish Arnie Katz examines the dangers of WWE’s aggressive move to gain a “PG” rating.

Shakespeare might’ called WWE’s behind-the-scenes changes “The Taming of the Shrewd.” If there’s one thing you can say about Vince McMahon it’s that he is shrewd. Sadly, it looks like we can now say that, in this case, he is zigging when he should be zagging.

What’s Happening?

WWE has recent made a number of moves and decisions calculated to move its TV shows from a “TV-14” to a “PG” rating. They’ve censored the language, toned down the action and made little changes like renaming John Cena’s finisher, formerly called the “FU,” the “Attitude Adjustment.”

The idea is to make WWE “family-friendly” entertainment. This is such a miss-guided concept that it raises the question of whether blandness could put pro wrestling out of business.

Shannon: The (2/3) ECW Extreme Examination!

Headlocker — Jay Shannon

The (2/3) ECW Extreme Examination!

Our resident philosoher, Jay Shannon, takes a slightly delayed look at the Tuesday Night Delight, ECW.

After a day of fighting with Java issues and other malfunctions, I’m ready to look at the action and backstory of Tuesday’s ECW. Sorry about the delay, friends.

The show opened with a look back at the theft of Jack Swagger’s ECW title, last week. Hornswoggle had scarfed it, to use it as a plaything. Jack got nasty at the idea of Hornswoggle having his belt. Jack shoved Hornswoggle to the mat when the dwarf went to return the belt. Finlay snapped and knocked out Swagger.

ECW came from St. Louis, MO. The main event was Finlay v Jack Swagger in a non-title bout.
