Congratulations to the New Champions

Over the last few months, Pro Wrestling Riot has held the Road to Gold Tournaments to determine the first Pro Wrestling Riot Heavyweight Champion and the first Pro Wrestling Riot Tag Team Champions. Pro Wrestling Riot wants to congratulate Bruce Santee who won the sixteen man tournament by defeating Roderick Strong in the first round, Shawn Osborne in the quarterfinals, Chris Jones in the semifinals and Sideshow in the Finals.

My Backlash Predictions
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, looks at all the craziness that is Backlash. This PPV is the follow-up to Wrestlemania 25.

Wrestlemania 25 was a fantastic card. The WWE, as always, continued many of the story arcs with this minor PPV. The matches look reasonably solid. Expect some major swerves in this one that will launch the summer series, leading up to the next Big PPV, Summerslam. Not only will I give my predictions on each given match, I’ll throw in a few suggestions as to where I think the WWE will go from here.

Santina on Khali Kiss Cam

Who called Vince Russo? This dumb segment is part annoyance, part inappropriate. Santina, which is Santino in drag, has to head to the Khali Kiss Cam to smooch the Punjabi Playboy. Does anyone in their right mind really want to see a 7 foot plus giant play kissy face with the Lord of the Unibrow? I don’t think so. I can only hope that Khali tries to get a bit fresh, only to learn the “secret” of Santina. Khali could then destroy Santino and give the fans a much needed break from the ridiculous faux Italian dweeb, Santino.

The Kingfish Arnie Katz reports on the second episode of WWE’s new one-hour show on WGN America.

The Kingfish’s Overview

Superstars came off slicker and smoother in its second episode, cast on WGN America on Thursday (4/23). The show seemed more professional, though some serious problems remain.

The hand-offs among the three announcer teams were less tentative and the recap clips for the other three shows seemed better-positioned and more connected to Superstars.

SABU TO BREAK HIS LEGENDARY SILENCE ON YOUSHOOT

The word ‘mystique’ so rarely applies to modern day wrestlers anymore. A few still manage to pull it off. Part of Sabu’s mystique is having protected his in-ring persona by not speaking. Well that’s about to go out the window as Sabu has agreed to do the ultimate in breaking kayfabe…face the wrestling public via YouShoot. Submissions are being taken now.

April 23rd: We [ROH] regret to inform the fans that El Generico will not be able to perform this weekend in Dayton or Chicago. He is meeting with his orthopedic surgeon today to review his MRI, but as of this morning, he was still unable to bend his knee or put any weight on it. Kevin Steen was in contact with ROH officials this morning as well, confirming Generico’s replacement for the weekend. Steen asked us not to announce anything until he has had a chance to address the fans himself, and to that end we offer a letter we received from Steen today at http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2744. Both matches that were scheduled for Steen and Generico will take place this weekend, which opens up a bunch of new possibilities.
