The Trump of Doom
The Katz Files – Arnie Katz
Vince, Donald and Col. Sanders
The Kingfish Arnie Katz discusses an angle that was short, but far from sweet..
If the “Donald Trump Buys WWE” angle is over and wrestling fans will never get back the five hours they wasted on it. From conception to blow-off, this might be one of the all-time worst storylines.
Let’s look at the angle’s credentials for this dishonor:
1. It filled most of five hours of WWE television, plus time on the other shows and, for the truly devoted, the Green Bay press conference.
2. The whole angle added up to nothing more exciting than Trump’s puny face slap, this was a whole lot about absolutely nothing. There wasn’t even a RAW match connected with it.
3. Even leaving aside his very poor delivery, Donald Trump has to be about the most dislikeable babyface of all time. He made even a commercial-free TV show and arena cash refund sound vaguely sinister and disreputable.
4. The angle didn’t make logical sense. Why would Vince Mc McMahon sell RAW in the first place? The quick buy-back proved that you can have an anti-climax without having an actual climax.
5. The definition of “commercial free” must be pretty elastic, because the “commercial free” RAW stretched that definition to its extreme limit. They may not have had commercials, but the relentless plugs for KFC grilled chicken and the promos for other USA Network shows sure looked like commercials.
The only thing you can say about the abrupt and dull ending is that at least it’s done. I think we’ve had enough of “billionaires on parade.”
That’s all for now. I’ll be back tomorrow with a fresh installment of the Internet’s fastest-rising pro wrestling column. I hope you’ll join me then and, please, bring your friends. You, too, Nic.

Yes indeed O Kingfish – apart from the HHH/Orton match, this Monday’s RAW was incredibly weak – two “commercial free” hours and still only four matches is pathetic. Hard to see what was achieved by the Trump/Vince angle apart from making Vince look rather foolish. As I mentioned to you after the show, the only logical development (if there is any) would be for Vince to start a “cost-cutting” angle (that is, having to let some of the talent go fairly publicly) as a result of his botched deal with the Donald.
Any way you cut this cheese it comes up Limburger…
