Sunset Flip pesents: The Downfall of Bret Hart? Part 2
 By Jim Boy Star

As I am writing this article, we are hours away on finding out if Bret Hart will truly be the guest host for Raw. Last week, I wrote an article stating why I feel this may not be the best for the legacy of Bret Hart.  (more…)

Top 2009 Non-Wrestling Characters

The Katz Files
Top 2009 Non-Wrestling Characters
The Kingfish Arnie Katz picks his favorite WWE and TNA non-wrestling characters for 2009.

Pro wrestling is mostly about what happens inside the ropes — and in the ringside area – bur a lot of what makes a show special often depends on performers who don’t throw a Suplex or score a pinfall

The show’s non-wrestlers act as foils or instigators who advance the plot that, hopefully, will lead to exciting and dramatic matches involving the promotion’s wrestling performers.

You sure wouldn’t want a promotion that focused on non-wrestlers and forgot the all-important great matches, but you wouldn’t want to lose the excitement, color and complexity that non-wrestling characters contribute.

The show opened with a look back at Vladimir Kozlov v Ezekiel Jackson, from last week. William Regal pulled a good strong swerve when he turned on Kozlov to help push Jackson to the next round of the tourney. Kane also moved forward in the tourney.

News on Gentleman Chris Adams DVD

by W.D. Hatfield (Host of The Wrestling Hotseat)

Several months ago, in fact, almost a year ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Mickey Grant, the former director and innovator of World Class Championship Wrestling’s highly successful and influential television program.

Mr. Grant had appeared to promote his ,at the time, new film “Gentleman’s Choice: The Chris Adams Story“. For myself, and several other people, the film was rated as a “must see” and in my opinion, is probably one of the most honest professional wrestling movies ever made. Mr. Grant has made many documentary films since he left the world of professional wrestling and has achieved a great deal of success in that film genre, with multiple films being shown in festivals, theatres, and even television channels like Home Box Office (HBO), BBC2 and PBS. Mickey considers “Gentleman’s Choice” to be not only one of his best films, but also the most personal film he has ever made.

As 2009 moves into 2010, it’s time for the 13th annual AS I SEE IT Year-End Review. As usual, I should note that my selections are based on what I’ve actually seen this year, either live, online, on TV, or via tape/DVD; which primarily means North American wrestling.
