My Elimination Chamber Predictions
Our resident philosopher looks at the next “gimmick” Pay-Per-View from the WWE, Elimination Chamber.
It used to be called No Way Out. Now, the WWE presents Elimination Chamber As of Saturday morning, when I’m writing this, the WWE has only scheduled four matches. Surely, they are going to toss in a few more. I’ll predict what we know, so far.
Maryse v Gail Kim
Divas Championship Finals
Backstory: Melina got injured and had to forfeit her title. The WWE ran a tournament to get to the final two. Gail and Maryse ended up in the finals.
Prediction: Gail Kim really should head back to TNA. She’s been misused ever since she stepped foot back into the WWE. I don’t expect that to change on Sunday. Gail will get some near-falls but Maryse will slap on her French Kiss DDT to become the new championette.
Predicted Winner: Maryse
Predicted Grade: B- (if we’re lucky)
Drew McIntyre v Kane
Intercontinental Championship Match
Backstory: Drew took the I-C title from John Morrison. Drew then ran afoul of The Big Red Machine.
Prediction: Honestly, I’m not that big a fan of Smackdown. Drew seems like a decent enough champ. Kane is definitely past his prime. drew is going to take this one, rather easily.
Predicted Winner: Drew McIntyre
Predicted Grade: C
The Raw Elimination Chamber
The Participants: Sheamus (c), John Cena, Triple H, Kofi Kingston, Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Randy Orton
Predictions: The Smackdown one is so easy for my to predict. The Raw side is a tad more confusing. I’m pretty sure Cena won’t take the strap. He’s on his way to a feud with Batista at Wrestlemania. I don’t think Sheamus is strong enough, yet, to work a main event at Wrestlemania. Kofi is needed for the Money in the Bank. Triple H is on all the posters, so it would seem logical that he would take the strap. I don’t think he will. I still think he is being considered for some kind of thing with Shawn Michaels. My favorite thought is D-X v Brothers of Destruction. That leaves DiBiase and Orton. Orton is getting ready for a face turn. That could leave Edge with a choice between his two partners in the main event. Ok, so I jumped the gun a bit on who I think is going to take the Smackdown side. Anyway, I think it will come down to DiBiase, Orton and HHH. Orton will expect DiBiase to help him with HHH. Dibiase will try to do over Orton, which will set off the Viper. DiBiase is going to end up a bloody mess, which will lead to a Wrestlemania match between Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase (with their dads in their corners). Bottom line, Randy Orton takes the strap to a huge cheer.
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
Predicted Grade: A-
The Smackdown Elimination Chamber
The Participants: Undertaker (c), Chris Jericho, R-Truth, C.M. Punk, John Morrison and Rey Mysterio
Prediction: Shawn Michaels is going to attack Undertaker, make book on it. Undertaker is going to lose the World title on Sunday. The question is who is going to take it? R-Truth is a former NWA/TNA champion. He is also the male equivalent of Gail Kim, disrespect and under-used. He’s not taking home the gold. Punk is coming down off his push and he is going to be busy with the Straight Edge Society and NXT. Rey Mysterio is still somewhat in the doghouse, thanks to his recent Wellness issues. I think it is going to come down to Jericho and Morrison. I’m not sure how badly Morrison messed up his leg, a couple weks back. I really think Jericho is going to take the title. That leaves Edge a choice between Jericho and Orton for the main event. I think he’ll choose Jericho.
Predicted Winner: Chris Jericho
Predicted Grade: A
Final Grade: B+
Final Thoughts: This is supposed to be the lead-in to Wrestlemania. It’s not going to be much of a show. I expect Miz to defend his US title or Big and Awesome to put up the tag belts. They aren’t schedule, yet. Four matches just aren’t enough to fill a PPV. I’ll be scouting the ‘Net to find out what happens.
