Bill Apter leads Terry Funk down memory lane

New Series Host Bill Apter Leads Terry Funk Down Memory Lane on “Ringside”

There’s nothing quite like two old friends sitting down and symbolically rolling around in the dirt.  Well, that’s exactly what Terry Funk and Bill Apter, every legendary wrestler’s old friend, have done on Kayfabe Commentaries’ latest edition of “Ringside.”  The series sits the legends of the business down before the Ringside announce table monitor, as their careers literally materialize onscreen before them.

In this edition of the series, subtitled “The Classic Years,” Funk relives his early highlights against such opponents as Abdullah, Brisco, Flair, Hogan, Race, and more.  Apter leads Funk through those years and territories, unveiling some long lost stories and perspectives from the legendary Funk.  Apter also seems the perfect foil for the dry but comical Funk.

Owen Hart Tribute Show
Hosted by JT Evans & Anthony  Thomas

Hard to believe it’s been 11 years since we lost Owen Hart

The show opened with Smith Hart. Smith said that he feeled that Owen hadn’t reached his prime when he passed. He spoke about a rib that Owen did on Davey Boy Smith. Davey was taking an early flight back to Florida (where he lived at the time), and gloating about leaving early. Owen took it upon himelf to lock Davey Boy’s bag to a locker with a padlock while he was showering, causing him to miss his early flight. But that wasn’t it: Owen convinced the flight attendants that Davey Boy was a groupie, and had him escorted back to his seat.

My TNA Notebook

The Katz Files – Arnie Katz
My Weekly (5/20) TNA Notebook

The Kingfish Arnie Katz provides insight and analysis based on the 5/20 episode of iMPACT.

The Rankings
Eric Bischoff introduced the Heavyweight Division Rankings with a great deal of fanfare at the top of the 5/20 episode of iMPACT. Though it took a little extra time to get the rankings going, TNA did a pretty decent job once they got it ready.

Too many wrestling journalists will write columns about how the rankings are meaningless. That’s simply not true. The list doesn’t correlate with any measure of worth or popularity, but the rankings are a good marketing tool for TNA and will give knowledgeable fans a way to judge who is in favor with TNA management at any given time.

The position of top-ranked contender is an obvious example, but there are others. Both Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe will be trying to work their way up the list for the next month or so, possibly on the way to a confrontation with each other.
