Sometimes the word “legend” is used with monotonous regularity, especially in this, the world of professional wrestling. A fickle mistress, at best. Given that legend status is also largely a matter of opinion, bestowing the title depends on the opinion of the bestowee. However, whether you’ve loved him or hated him, few would disagree that Bret “Hitman” Hart qualifies as one of the genuine legends in a business packed with wannabes and one-hit-wonders.
Bret’s talent had already shone even before Vince McMahon turned wrestling upside-down and changed it forever. His traditionalist style and personality remained a fan favorite when McMahon turned wrestling in a direction in which some thought Bret had no place. Now the legend lives on in honored retirement, his greatest matches still taking pride of place in all “best of” lists on websites across the globe, including that of the WWE.

If you missed the Tuesday January 11th edition of the Online World of Wrestling Radio with host Alan Wojcik and contributors Kevin K. Scott of the Under the Ring, Wrestle Talk Radio/Otaku Talk Radio’s Spug & Mase, here are the highlights:
“WrestleMania Memories” continued this week on the show. For the younger folks tuning in, Alan recapped the three city hosted WrestleMania 2 PPV event. Our 100% free to the listeners’ interview was with former WWF superstar “the Genius” Lanny Poffo who told stories of growing up in the wrestling business, running the ICW promotion with his dad Angelo and brother Randy, memories of working in the WWF of the 1980’s, managing “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig, working with Hulk Hogan, his views on Vince McMahon Jr. and what he does today in helping keep children smoke free with an anti-cigarette campaign via poetry. Catch up with Mr. Poffo on his personal website, www.geniuslannypoffo.com
The Wonderful Brandon Bull

Who’ll ever forget where they were the first time Gordon Solie called Paul that during one of his great GCW squashes? The Brandon Bull. He was and remains that and one pretty tough hombre, cancer be damned.
I think many of us first came to appreciate what a tremendous athlete Paul was in Bill Watt’s talent-laden Mid South promotion that was the standard of excellence for U.S. wrestling in the late 70’s and early 80’s amidst a crowded field(many of the territories were still great up to and including late 1983). Others may have first marveled at his work for Ole Anderson in Georgia Championship(always talent-packed as well).
As with the faux Paul Ellering wrestling “brother,” I think Watts/Mid South also had a faux Orndorff brother tagging with him at the time by the name of “Terry”(similar to Watts’ former area boss, Leroy McGuirk who tried to capitalize on the earliest incarnation of Ivan Putsky with a faux brother called Igor Putski. Oddly, Ivan was originally a near-carbon-copy of Sheik’s Mighty Igor Vodik(Dick Garza) doing that particular non-speaking, allegedly dim-witted Polish man-child gimmick.
Host Alan Wojcik is joined weekly by national contributors like Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, Phil Strum of the Poughkeepsie Journal, Kevin K. Scott of Under the Ring, Sarah & Ari Daigen of “In This Very Ring” plus members of the Wild Talk Radio roster like Spug, Mase, Sir Rockin & Tim Stein. Plus the big boss of Online World of Wrestling, ClickWrestle, Diva-Dirt.com and Chickfight, the Executive Board Member at Cauliflower Alley Club Jason Deadrich will be stopping by from time to time.
Topics to be covered include: All the highlights from Sunday’s TNA Genesis PPV including the shocking debut of Matt Hardy and the new World Tag Team champions Beer Money, World X Division champion Kazarian and World champion Mr. Anderson plus all of the news from WWE Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown as we get closer to the Royal Rumble PPV and the upcoming Independent shows across America.

New Japan Pro Wrestling is coming to the United States. The tour is a cooperative venture with Jersey All Pro Wrestling, which has featured Japanese legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger on several shows in New Jersey and Philadelphia over the last several months, including the 13th anniversary doubleheader. New Japan Pro Wrestling will present three events here beginning Friday May 13.

Jack and OIB were joined by Matt Hardy for the most recent edition of IYH on January 5th. Hardy talks about wanting to try and make wrestling unpredictable again. Hardy believes that wrestling being predictable has hurt the business.
Jack asks Hardy if Internet has helped or hurt the wrestling business. Hardy mentions that he was one of the first people to use the internet to expand his career. He mentions that wrestlers like Shawn Michaels were strongly against the internet early on in their career but now Michaels has a Twitter and YouTube page.
