[WWE] WWE® Reports 2007 Fourth Quarter Results: STAMFORD, Conn., February 12, 2008 – World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:WWE) today announced financial results for its fourth quarter ended December 31, 2007. Revenues totaled $132.6 million as compared to $107.6 million in the prior year quarter while operating income was $24.7 million as compared to $17.5 million in the prior year quarter. [Obituary] Johnny Weaver dead at 72 – By CLEVE R. WOOTSON JR. – Johnny Weaver, a Charlotte wrestler who mastered the Sleeper hold, died Friday of natural causes. He was 72. Weaver, who later became a Mecklenburg Sheriff’s deputy, was found in his home by fellow deputies after he didn’t show up for work on Friday. Funeral arrangements had not been finalized by Friday night. Weaver, who started wrestling in 1955, often fought in the old Charlotte Coliseum and in the 1960s & 1970s went up against foes like Baron von Raschke and the Missouri Mauler. He was in the ring in an era when Charlotte was a wrestling capital and performers would drive themselves to matches across the South.

We discussed the pending Senate Bill 413, which could essentially end professional wrestling in the state of Georgia. Behrens is heading a group called the Georgia Wrestling Promoters Advisory Committee in a battle to separate them from the bill and produce a new form of documented regulation to keep wrestling under reasonable policing.
