SHIMMER – WOMEN ATHLETES returned to the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL on Saturday, July 5, 2008. Volumes 19 and 20 of the SHIMMER DVD series were filmed during the course of the taping.
The first half of the taping consisted of matches which will comprise SHIMMER Volume 19.
1. The opening contest was the first ever twenty-one woman SHIMMER battle royal, with each participant drawing a number and entering the match at 30 second intervals. Once a wrestler was thrown over the top rope and both feet touched the floor, they were eliminated. The winner received a shot at the SHIMMER Championship against MsChif in the Volume 19 main event.

6- CAT POWER

The closing moments of the match saw JETTA, SARA DEL REY, NIKKI ROXX, MERCEDES MARTINEZ, and ARIEL remaining. Del Rey eliminated Roxx, and then also tossed out Martinez. Ariel quickly came up on Del Rey from behind and dumped her out, leaving the final two wrestlers as Ariel and Jetta. Jetta got the advantage and placed Ariel on the top turnbuckle, at which time a bitter Del Rey (from the floor) pulled Ariel off the top rope and down to the floor, which caused Ariel to be eliminated and Jetta to be announced as the winner of the battle royal and the title shot. Del Rey immediately whipped Ariel into the steel barricade and brutally attacked her. Sara kept shouting that Ariel cost her the opportunity to regain “my belt” and took out her frustrations on her until referees were able to force Del Rey back to the locker room.
REBECCA BAYLESS interviewed DAIZEE HAZE in the ring. Daizee explained how she suffered a rib injury during training this past week, and for the first time she would have to watch a SHIMMER taping from the sidelines. Haze vowed to return on Volume 21, and said at that time she would be coming after the SHIMMER Championship.
2. PORTIA PEREZ defeated SHARK GIRL with her feet on the ropes for leverage. During the course of the bout, Perez successfully countered two bodyslam attempts.
3. SERENA DEEB defeated DANYAH with a spear.
4. ASHLEY LANE & NEVAEH defeated CAT POWER & VERONIKA VICE with their double team STO/Yakuza kick combo.
5. AMAZING KONG defeated LORELEI LEE with a spinning backfist that knocked Lee’s jaw out of place.
6. NIKKI ROXX defeated NICOLE MATTHEWS with the Barbie Crusher.
7. ALLISON DANGER defeated “Girl Dynamite” JENNIFER BLAKE with a rollup. After the match, Danger praised Blake on the microphone saying that it’s great to see rising Canadian stars such as her entering SHIMMER competition. This brought out “The Canadian NINJAS” PORTIA PEREZ & NICOLE MATTHEWS who declared themselves the best frickin’ Canadian wrestlers in SHIMMER. Perez called Danger a “Diet Canadian” and challenged her and Blake to a tag team match on Volume 20.
8. LUFISTO defeated RAIN of the “International Home Wrecking Crew” with a burning hammer.
9. SARA DEL REY defeated ARIEL with the Royal Butterfly.
10. “The Latina Sensation” MERCEDES MARTINEZ defeated CHEERLEADER MELISSA with a fisherman buster in roughly 20 minutes of back and forth action.
11. SHIMMER Champion MsCHIF defeated JETTA of the “International Home Wrecking Crew” following the Desecrator to retain the title.
The second half of the taping consisted of matches which will comprise SHIMMER Volume 20.
12. SHARK GIRL defeated VERONIKA VICE following a stunner.
Prior to the next match, PORTIA PEREZ announced that she is the master of avoiding the bodyslam. ALLISON DANGER responded by vowing to slam Perez within the first minute of the match. Perez declared that she’s so confident in her claim that she will put up $1,000 CAD if Danger can do it. As the match began and the clock began to tick away, Perez was successful in backing up her claim. She did not fall victim to the bodyslam.
13. “The Canadian NINJAS” PORTIA PEREZ & NICOLE MATTHEWS defeated ALLISON DANGER & “Girl Dynamite” JENNIFER BLAKE when Perez forced Danger to tap out to a Fujiwara armbar after Danger re-aggrivated her collarbone injury. Post-match, Perez intentionally did further damage by giving Danger a vicious divorce court. On her way to the locker room Perez boasted of being the one to put Danger back on the disabled list.
14. AMAZING KONG defeated DANYAH with a sitout powerbomb.
15. CAT POWER defeated DAFFNEY via submission with a figure four leglock. Power targeted Daffney’s bad knee for the duration of the match.
16. “The International Home Wrecking Crew” RAIN & JETTA defeated ASHLEY LANE & NEVAEH when Rain pinned Nevaeh with a handful of tights.
17. ARIEL defeated NIKKI ROXX with a wheelbarrow rollup. Roxx raised Ariel’s hand after the match in acknowledgement of a hard fought victory.
18. SARA DEL REY defeated SERENA DEEB via submission with a leglock.
19. CHEERLEADER MELISSA defeated LUFISTO with the Kudoh Driver in an explosive, hard hitting contest that earned a standing ovation from the fans in attendance.
20. SHIMMER Champion MsCHIF defeated “The Latina Sensation” MERCEDES MARTINEZ following the Desecrator to retain the title. The match was a very brutal, very even contest.
