* AWA WORLD TAG TITLE CHAOS! WEAVER CUP CONTINUES! TV TITLE MATCH!
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington,
NC this Saturday, July 7th, with a 7:30pm belltime. This is a full
card of great action all taped for television! All bouts are
sanctioned by the AWA, the American Wrestling Association.
With last week’s controversial main event, just who are the AWA World
Tag Team Champions? AWA President William L. Cross states that Ric
Converse & Xsiris are the champions. CWF Mid-Atlantic Commissioner Ty
Dillinger has declared that the Gemini Kid & Jesse Ortega are the new
champions.
“It’s as simple as this,” stated Dillinger. The Commissioner
continued, “I counted the pinfall. I awarded the title belts and
Gemini and Jesse Ortega left with those belts. Therefore they are the
new AWA World Tag Team Champions end of story.”
It’s no secret that AWA VP Jonnie Stewart and former president Dale
Gagne have been at work to remove the titles from Converse & Xsiris.
Gemini Kid even stated as much in Greensboro two weeks ago that
Stewart was the one that provided the championship contract for them.
And it’s no secret that Ty Dillinger has been working in
conjunction with Gagne to run Cross out of wrestling all together.
What will happen this week as the “new” World Tag Team Champions show
up and will Ric Converse or Xsiris have anything to say (or do!) about
this situation over the stolen belts? It’s certain to be an explosive
situation!
Chris Collins, one half of the Neon Lions, scored his biggest singles
win to date last week, earning him a shot at the Mid-Atlantic
Television Title held by “Simply” Steve Greene. The rivalry between
Destiny and the Neon Lions has only escalated as the other Neon Lion,
Lee Valiant scored a huge upset when he dethroned Greene for that very
same TV Title. Greene, Joey Silvia, and Commissioner Ty Dillinger
quickly reclaimed that championship, under dubious terms, but the
2-Time Champion Greene is set to make his first title defense of his
second reign.
Commissioner Dillinger informed us, “Chris Collins, Lee Valiant, Brass
Munkey, they are all the same… LOSERS! Steve Greene is the greatest
TV Champion of all time and when they look in the record books, it
won’t matter that a miracle happened one night and Steve lost the
title for one week. He’s the greatest, the ladies love him, and if he
were here right now, he’d tell you BLAW!”
Will Collins be able to replicate the feat of his partner and capture
the TV Title? What is the status of his injured partner Lee Valiant?
This is sure to be yet another step for the Lions as they carve their
names into championships throughout the territory.
Never at a loss for words, Commissioner Dillinger provided more
comments regarding the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion, Joey Silvia.
“Let me make this clear, Joey Siliva has begged and pleaded with me
to let him defend his title against the biggest, baddest, and toughest
wrestlers I could find. The problem is, there aren’t any left and I
have to keep sending him out to other states to defend his title.”
Dillinger concluded, “Now I know there is a lot of hot air coming out
of Fatback Enterprises about how Mitch Connor deserves a shot at
Joey’s title. Yes, even some fans have e-mailed me the same thing.
And since I am fair and equal, I promise to review those requests and
I plan on announcing my decision this Saturday night.”
Also the 2007 Johnny Weaver Cup Tournament continues this week with
the final two 1st Round matches. Those two winners will join Gemini
Kid, Jesse Ortega, Corey Edsel, Joey Silvia, Alex Adonis, and Trent
Wylde. 2nd Round action will take place later this month and in early
August to end with the final four for August 25th, when Johnny Weaver
will be in attendance to present the winner the Weaver Cup trophy.
This year’s most controversial absences from the tournament was the
removal of Ric Converse by Commissioner Ty Dillinger after Weaver had
initially placed Converse in the tournament.
