Nobody Asked Me about RAW, But…

The Kingfish Arnie Katz continues a “Katz Files” tradition with answers to some ticklish questions that no one asked him. This t time, he as been watching RAW and thinking about what flashes across the screen,

I was watching RAW this week and…

Nobody asked me, but…

… Commentators who are still complaining about Maria and Kelly Jelly in the ring should watch their more recent matches. Kelly Kelly is twice as good as she was two months ago. At this rate, she’ll be as good as Mae Young—when she gets to be as old as Mae Young. Seriously, she works better, more fluidly and with more confidence every time she gets in the ring.

… Am I the only one who is getting tired of all this bellyaching about respect? Between RAW and iMPACT, it feels like at least half of all the wrestlers are either demanding respect or refusing to give it. Please, come up with something a little fresher.

… Isn’t it a shame they didn’t let fans vote on the costumes for the Diva Fuzzy Dice on a Pole Match scheduled for Cyber Sunday? Fans could come up with some much more… exciting… choices for the Divas. Dressing as Marilyn Monroe is all very well for Candice Michelle, even if she does have dark hair, but she’d have been much more spectacular as Betty Boop – or maybe Bette Page.

… Speaking of costumes, wasn’t that an amazing get-up that Santino Morella wore on the 10/20 RAW? Maybe they should just scrap the vote and let him wrestle himself for 10 minutes. I doubt it would make much difference, considering the three options.

… It’s good that Jim Duggan can still get a paycheck, but isn’t it just a little sad to see a performer who main evented in his prime become a figure of ridicule in his golden years? I’ll bet a lot of WWE fans would be shocked to see what a big star he was before he came to WWWE,

… Why doesn’t WWE try giving Charlie Haas a push with his new gimmick? They have finally, apparently, realized that he has to be a babyface, but now they need to give him a winning streak. There’s not much sense in having him dress him every week and then lose.

… If Charlie Haas and Sharkboy could’ve somehow combined their Steve Austin imitations, the results would be really, really close to the original. Sharkie has the moves, mannerisms and holds down perfectly and Haas certainly captured the look in his outing against JBL on the 10/21 RAW.

… Those gauntlet matches looked like part of a campaign to set up the basis for Adamle’s removal as General Manager. Having them fight the same three men sounds good, but letting Batista and Jericho take turns beating up guys whom the other had already destroyed made for some grimly boring ring action. It probably didn’t do William Regal’s reputation much good, either.

…… When will Jillian Hall make a music CD? Maybe WWE will send it to me when she does; I need more coasters. Cold beverages really sweat in the dry air of Las Vegas.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another installment of the Internet’s fastest-rising wrestling column. I hope you’ll join me – and I’d be especially grateful if you tell your friends about it.
