September 7 Ring of Honor Report from Birmingham, AL

From Larry Goodman

In a proving ground instant reward match, ReDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated C & C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander) and ACH & Tadarious Thomas and Alabama Attitude (Corey Hollis & Mike Posey) in 12:45. Wall-to-wall action with ACH being the human highlight reel. ACH has something that can’t be seen anywhere else. ROH is missing the boat by putting a rocket up his ass as a singles star. Hollis was way over as the hometown hero. Posey got slammed a bazillion times in a row by the champions. Coleman was shook up after freakish accident with the ropes but got back on track fairly quickly. Hollis was way over as the hometown hero. Fish pinned ACH after a brainbuster/kick combo by Red Dragon. Postmatch, fans chanted “that was awesome”.

November 2 Ring Of Honor Report from Cincinnati

By Trent Von Drisse

1. Bobby Fish w/Kyle O’ Reilly beat Mike Posey w/Corey Hollis

The gimmick here was called “Instant Reward”, if either of “Alabama Attitude” beat either of “ReDRagon” in singles matches, Alabama Attitude would receive an immediate shot at the ROH World tag titles. Fish beat Posey with a Shining Wizard style round house kick to the head.

2. Kyle O’ Reilly w/Bobby Fish beat Corey Hollis w/Mike Posey by submission

O’ Reilly caught Hollis coming off the turnbuckle into a Gogoplata for the submission victory. So no tag team title shot for poor Alabama Attitude on this night.

ANARCHY WRESTLING in CORNELIA, GA Posey & Hollis returned to face the Anarchy tag team champions, The Movement on 3-9 and faced Slim J & Seth Delay on 3-23.  Posey & Hollis return to Anarchy on May 11  and defeated Seven Walters & John Skyler, pinning Walters after Skyler turned on his partner.  Posey & Hollis  were defeated by Gunner & Walters on 6-8-13. 6-22 Posey & Hollis defeated Foster & Coal (Squared Circle) and Hollis was defeated by Slim J, and Posey was defeated by the debuting Cody Hall.  Mike Posey def Steven Walter on 6-29 and as a result will get Franklin Dove “in the ring”. On 7-13-13 Posey & Hollis def Joey Rhymer & BJ Hancock.  On 7/27 Posey defeated Kyle Matthews.  On 8-10 Posey & Hollis def The Movement.  On 8-24 Posey defeated Caprice Coleman and Corey Hollis defeated Slim J.  On 9-14 Corey Hollis faced Steven Walters and Mike Posey faced Wildside.  On 9-28 Posey & Hollis took on Se7en & Shaun Tempers for the anarchy Tag Team Titles. On October 12 they defeated Joey Rhymer & Stryknyn.  On Oct 26 Corey Hollis was defeated TNS’s Gunner, and Mike Posey defeated Slim J.  They returned to Anarchy on November 9 and were defeated by Iceberg & Slim J.   Next appearance is December 14.

Deep Southern Championship Wrestling was created in March of? of 2010 and started running shows once a month in Ellijay, Ga. We started out in a place known as Gilmer Golf and games. Our first show drew a crowd of 35 or 40 people. DSCW didn’t get discouraged though we kept giving good quality matches at a fair price and got our crowds up to 150 or more. We had to move to gyms and civic centers to support our fan base, drawing close to 600 on some of our big shows.

Platinum Championship Wrestling Debuts at Actor’s Express – Live Report

From Larry Goodman:

Platinum Championship Wrestling returned to Atlanta proper for the first time in far long, with “Mythos” their debut event at Actor’s Express.

I was really curious about this show and hoping for something different, perhaps the birth of vibrant, new variety of PCW.

Such an intriguing choice for a pro wrestling venue — the home of a legit theatrical company inside a multi-faceted arts complex located in the one of the coolest parts of the city.

The talent lineup featured the best PCW had to offer. “The Reverend” Dan Wilson was making his PCW debut and The Exotic Ones were returning for a special appearance. Under the tutelage of Stephen Platinum, the creative team was an interesting pairing of Chuck Porterfield and Quasi Mandisco.

I’m wasn’t sure what to expect, bu I expected something better than than this. It wasn’t a bad show. It wasn’t compelling. Bad might have been better. No new ground was broken. No unique identity was created. The theatrical flourishes were more miss than hit. The heavy fan participation from the Academy shows was in full effect. The crowd entertained themselves by making witty, smart-ass remarks and going back and forth with the wrestlers. But I never sensed the crowd took what they were seeing seriously or disbelief was suspended for more than an instant. No fault of the wrestlers, who worked hard all night long. At their best, the Academy shows moved fans a deeper level, eliciting a wide range of emotions. The crowd reacted to this show with mild amusement. Correction: there was a degree of disappointment about the ending.

The ambiance was similar to the Academy, the indy theater where PCW ran weekly shows from 2010-2012. PCW had there own space at Academy, a makeshift backroom area that had a grungy charm all its own.

My mind wanders to the night Ron Niemi came through the curtain at the Academy for the first time and blurted out under his breath “What the fuck?”.

Attendance was right at 50 with a number of notable regular attendees at the Academy shows sprinkled in the crowd.

Freddie Ashley, the artistic director at Actor’s Express, made a few opening remarks. He watched the first match. That might have been it for him. Of that I am not sure.

Porterfield did live commentary as a solo act. He said PCW would be returning to Actor’s Express in February.

(1) Casey Kincaid defeated Sylar Cross and Geter in a triple threat match at 8:30. Geter took a high impact combo, then spent most of the match outside the ring selling. Geter eventually woke up and cleaned house, but in the end, Kincaid hit a flying DDT for the pin. The wrestling was fine. They went for the unexpected twist where the small guy pins the giant at the expense of much-need credibility. Geter is among the select few talents in Georgia on the watch list of the larger organizaiton. If you beat him, there needs to be point and this match didn’t have one.

“The Reverend” Dan Wilson gave ghastly greetings to the groovy ghoulies in attendance. Rev introduced himself as the conscience of PCW and said we were about to hear the footsteps of evil. Instead we got a relentless stream of blaring static over the PA. I felt so bad for The Rev helplessly waiting..and waiting…and waiting for those damn footsteps.

Jeff G Bailey came out with EMPIRE such as it is – PCW Champion Chip Day, loser Sylar Cross and a member of the Black Chair Brigade, calling them the most dangerous spectacle since Christians were fed to lions, qute a stretch if you ask me. Bailey scoffed at the idea that Day was facing some boogie man and told his security guy to take his post and be on the lookout for Grotesque.

(2) Washington Bullets (Jon & Trey Williams) defeated De La Vega & Brian Blaze in 14:18. Corey from Team All You Can Eat got on DLV about his hairline. DLV said he could lose his hair but you will never lose that weight. Porterfield mentioned that Bullets were barred from facing Blaze and his normal partner Geter until Sacred Ground 2014. A fan in the front row said DLV was a Grown Ass Man in little girl clothes. For such a small guy, DLV is great at conveying a larger than life quality as a heel. No shortage of action in this match. The Bullets are so talented. The finishing sequence had all kinds of twists and turns, a little too long and involved for my tastes. Trey pinned Blaze after the Marion Barry. This was the best match of the night and deservedly received a hearty round of applause.

Johnny Danger Time was the highlight of the night thanks to Oscar Worthy. Danger explained that he decided wrestling wasn’t for him after getting concussed by Cross and having acid thrown in his face by MAIM, but he still wanted to be part of the show. Danger tried to quash the idea that he had racial prejudice just because MAIM was an all black faction. He just hated buttholes.

Oscar Worthy (award-winning actor, award-winning playright, award-winning wrestler, and award-winning award said he was better than the everyone else. “I’m cream. I rise” Especially the blacks that couldn’t compete with him for a job and the gays that had to go to another state to get married. Worthy was hilarious. His comedic ability temporarily elevated this show to another level.

Rick Michaels came out and explained that he was gay and part the only openly gay tag team in pro wrestling, Ergo, Worthy was in for an ass whipping. Worthy was shaking in his shoes. Worthy said he represented theater but he did have a man in the back. Hilarity ensued. Worthy introduced Hate Crime to chants of “back door Hate Crime”.

(3) Rick Michaels defeated Hate Crime (with Oscar Worthy) with the Double Shot in 1:10. Hate Crime was just a Warhorse of a different color.

Postmatch, Worthy got a cheap shot in on Danger. Michaels challeged Worthy to get a partner to take on Danger and himself.

Grotesque laid out Bailey’s security guy and dragged him through the curtain.

“Manager of Champions” Miss Rachael introduced the greatest wrestler in PCW history, “The Revelation” Shane Marx and said nobody in the back was a match for him. The challenge was answered by former PCW Champion Supernatural.

(4) Shane Marx (with Miss Rachael) pinned Supernatural in 12 minutes with the Natural Selection (Death Valley Driver). Early on, Supernatural used Corey’s lap for boost on a Sliced Bread #2 but Marx planted him on the apron and went on to dominate the match. Super’s comeback was hard to buy due to the size difference, but his Sliced Bread from the ring apron to the inside was impressive. The theme of if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again continued, as Super hit a rana off the ropes and a double stomp to the back of the head. The finish saw Rachael distract Super as he went for the old school ropes walk. Marx then crotched him and hit the DVD.

The Reverend returned and said the Evil he spoke of had revealed itself in the form of the EMPIRE, and like the vestages of any infestation, when you leave one or two, they will multiply and overwhelm you before you know it.

Intermission

The Rev returned and was rudely interrupted by Mandisco and TMZ. I don’t think they made the best use of Rev’s talents on this show. I envisioned him as the full-fledged host in place of Porterfield’s benign commentary.

Mandisco said Marko Polo was trying to use fan adulation to make up for the lack of love from his parents. That brough Polo out with fire in his eyes. He was attacked by TMZ, who instructed Mandisco to seat Polo in a chair at ringside. TMZ crashed and burned on a slingshot dive onto the chair. They brawled all over the seating. Full Disclosure — my computer screen was fucked up for good byTMZ landing in my lap.

(5) Chip Day (with Jeff G. Bailey) defeated Grotesque (with Mathias Darkthorne) in 51 seconds. The bodyguard was back without explanation after being dragged backstage and started to do battle with Grotesque. Cross attacked Grotesque, wasted him with multiple chairshots, splashed him against the post and rolled him inside the ring. Day covered immediately but Grotesque kicked out. Moments later, Day scored the pinfall with Day of the Dead (double knees of the top). Some fans match for the main event. I’m thinking that’s not the kind of heat you want to generate that first time at a venue.

From the front row, Corey started giving Day all kinds of crap. Day said Corey Diabetes on legs.

Darkthorne implored his monster to stand and show the people what real destruction was. I have no idea who this Darkthorne guy is, but he needs to go back to wherever he came from, because his mic work was beyond horrible, like it was his first time talking in front of a crowd. It’s mind boggling that an unknown, untested commodity was placed in a key spot on the show.

Grotesque rose up on command and exacted revenge on Bailey’s bodyguard with a chokebomb. What a hokey finish. The fans saw the real monster get beat in the first match, and here they’re being asked to buy the superhuman powers of a guy that looks like a masked sanitation worker.

Bullets and Supernatural joined Grotesque and Darkheart. They stood over the bodyguard and got a brief “PCW” chant out of the crowd. Grotesque dragged the bodyguard through the curtain to close the show.

December 7 Platinum Championship Wrestling Report from Porterdale, GA

From Alicia Stockton:

There were about 30 people in attendance. The place felt like a graveyard. The crowd size was down, the diehard fans tried to muster enthusiasm, but it was dead.

The opening match pitted Sylar Cross against newcomer Eric Mayne. Mayne beat Cross by using his weight against him and rolling him up. Sylar was a sore loser and beat Mayne up. The crowd yelled “Loser” at Sylar.

De La Vega, Ricky Nugent, and Adrian Armour participated in a triple threat match. It was good to see Priority Male Ricky Nugent return to Porterdale. I found this match to be confusing and boring. It did manage to set up a feud between Adrian Armour and De La Vega, but it didn’t connect with me on any emotional level. Adrian Armour won the battle, and he and De La Vega did a pose off at each other.

Sugar Shane faced Dynomite Soul Eric Walker. Sugar Shane tried to exit the match early by running back up the stairs, but Dynomite dragged him back to the ring. Dynomite Soul won the match with a running knee to Shane.

Johnny Danger came to the ring for his popular Johnny Danger time segment.

He still sported sunglasses. He said that the past couple months were the lowest point of his life, but his fans had stood behind him through all of it. He sang “Amazing Grace” at us to illustrate that he was once was blind but now he sees. Responsibility was the theme of the segment. He felt partially responsible for the stranglehold that Quasi Mandisco has on PCW. He held Quasi responsible for the scar on his face, and stated that even though management would no longer allow him to wrestle because of his previous injuries, he wasn’t dressed to wrestle, he was dressed for a fight. Quasi Mandisco insulted the fans, and then he presented Johnny Danger with a restraining order that stated that Johnny Danger wasn’t allowed to come within 2000 feet of him at any time. He said if Johnny Danger violated that order that he’d sue PCW, Tim Savage, and Stephen Platinum. Shane Mackey kicked Johnny Danger out of the building, and according to reports on Facebook Johnny Danger’s been fired from PCW. PCW is really putting the fans through the emotional wringer right now.

Mason came out and said he wasn’t here to wrestle. Chip Day attacked him from behind after Jeff G. Bailey said “Life is hard, but it’s a lot harder when you’re stupid. You say you’re not here to wrestle, well, you don’t have a choice. The match raged on. Mason went for the scales of justice and knocked out referee Chuck Porterfield. Sylar slammed Mason, and Chip hit him with a leather belt and then choked him with it. Chip pinned Mason because Sylar woke the ref after all that punishment.

Mason told Shane Mackey to cut the music. He wanted to set up a tag match pitting himself and Supernatural against Chip Day and Sylar Cross since Chip Day wants to take on former champions. Chip reminded Mason that he’d been run out of PCW and can no longer wrestle due to the stipulation of his match with Shane Marx at Sacred Ground. Instead of Mice and Men will know face Fred Yehi and Supernatural. PCW will return to Porterdale on December 21st.

Empire Wrestling Entertainment was in Rossville, GA on November 30th. Results: Johnny Viper defeated Ryan Vega to retain the Empire Jr. Heavyweight championship. Bobby Hayes defeated Chris Ganz (w/Corey Coxx). After the match, Hayes attacked Coxx until Logan Alvey made the save. Jason Hampton defeated Joey Lynch. “Best of the Best” Lamar Phillips defeated “The chunky Dragon” Keith Hamill. “The Strong Style Psycho” Tank (The Rev) defeated “The Temptation” Shaun Tempers (w/Steve-Dave Flanagan) by count out. Tempers retains the Empire Heavyweight championship.

December 7 Empire Wrestling Report from Rossville, GA

From Empire Wrestling:

“The Freakin Star” Matt Fortune defeated “All That” Adam Jacobs when Jacobs was disqualified for using a foreign object that Steve Dave attempted to give Fortune.

Kyle Matthews defeated “Punk Rock’s Last Hope” Ryan Vega when Vega tapped out to a Texas Cloverleaf. After the match Matthews said that he requested the match with Empire management after hearing about newcomer Vega. He told the crowd that Vega had the early makings of a great wrestler and deserved everyone’s respect. He also announced he would be back at Empire on 12-21.

Banks beat Joey Lynch when Banks rolled through a high cross body and put his feet on the top rope in one motion.

On the video screen Johnny Viper approached Kyle Matthews to sarcastically congratulate him on beating “a punk that I’ve wiped the mat with every time I’ve faced him.” Matthews stopped Viper from walking away and challenged him to a match tonight. He assured him that he was sure Commissioner Ben Thrasher wouldn’t mind. Viper agreed but added that he wouldn’t defend his Junior Heavyweight Championship because Matthews “didn’t deserve a shot”.

Empire Heavyweight Champion “Temptation” Shaun Tempers spoke after being obnoxiously introduced by Steve Dave. He said he gave former champion Tank his rematch and he was done with him. Tonight he is moving from Devils to Dragons and he has the Dragon Slayer right here (pointing to his bicep). This brought out one half of the former Empire Tag Team Champions The Double Dragons, “The Red Dragon” K.T. Hamill.

Shaun Tempers defeated K.T. Hamill. After an attempt from Steve Dave to blind him with “Temptation for Men”, Hamill fell victim to being tripped from the top rope, crashing neck first on the turnbuckle, and Tempers’ Neckbreaker.

Post match it was announced that despite Empire’s next Mega Event being Long Cold Winter on January 4th, 2014, Empire would have a huge event Christmas night that would be headlined by Shaun Tempers defending the Empire Championship against “Strong Style Psycho” Tank in an environment where members of the Tempers’ led Cabal could not be a factor….a 15-Foot High Steel Cage.

Matt Fortune appeared on the video screen with a message for his Long Cold Winter I Quit Match opponent, Ace Rockwell. He said that on December 21st Ben Thrasher will allow Fortune to pick Rockwell’s opponent and vice versa. Fortune said “Pick my opponent wisely, because there’s no one that can touch The Freakin’ Star”. He also stated that since he heard Kyle Matthews will be at Empire on 12-21 and he’s arguably the best wrestler in the state of Georgia and possibly the United States, that is who Ace Rockwell will face.

Kyle Matthews defeated Empire Junior Heavyweight Champion Johnny Viper in a non-title match. The match wasn’t without controversy. During the match, a man covered in a black ski mask came from the audience and attempted to enter the ring. While the referee and all members of security were ejecting him from ringside, a second masked man entered the ring and nailed Viper with a side kick. Both men immediately fled from the building. As Viper pulled himself together in the corner, he turned around to meet the “Slurpee Kick” from Matthews.

Upcoming Events:

December 21st featuring already announced Kyle Matthews vs Ace Rockwell.

December 25th featuring the Main Event of “Strong Style Psycho” Tank vs “Temptation” Shaun Tempers for the Empire Heavyweight Title inside a 15-Foot High Steel Cage.
