KENNY DYKSTRA DISCUSSES NOT WANTING TO GET IN THE BOX WHEN DX MAILED THE SPIRIT SQUAD TO OVW, WANTING TO TURN THE SQUAD BABYFACE, HOW JEFF HARDY MADE HIM APPRENHENSIVE ABOUT RING OF HONOR, AND MORE By WorldWrestlingInsanity.com

Give three cheers because the man who lead the Spirit Squad, Kenny Dykstra, has come to ClubWWI.com for a 49 minute in-depth uncut shoot interview about his entire career from his wrestling school debut at 13 to today.

Whether you jeered or cheered him, Kenny was a huge part of WWE programming for over a year. Not only did the group main event pay-per-views, but Dykstra himself picked up pinfall victories over the likes of Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels. Ken addresses all that in his discussion with James Guttman plus: Thinking That Vince McMahon Was Joking About The Spirit Squad Gimmick, Why They Debuted Badly, Sneaking Backstage at WWE Shows, Debuting In WWE At 16, The Time WWE Asked His Favorite Wrestler And He Gave The Wrong Answer, Training School Hazing, The One Match He Won on Smackdown and Why, The Night He Got a Standing Ovation Backstage The WWE Wrestler Who Was Supposed To Be In The Squad, His Challenges To Lenny Dysktra, How His Match With R-Truth Made Him Realize It Was Over, Victoria, Dolph Ziggler, TNA, Andre The Giant, LOD’s Foam Spikes, and More

One subject that many fans remember is the end of the Spirit Squad. The night was strange in that after months of being featured in big roles, the group ended on Raw with DX putting them in a box and “mailing” them to OVW, WWE’s developmental territory at the time. It was an anti-climatic ending to a storyline that most assumed would lead to the Squad feuding with each other. It never happened and JG didn’t understand why. Kenny recalls the night to ClubWWI.com members:

“I don’t know, I think it was Hunter’s idea. I don’t know who’s idea it was, but I thought they were just joking. T hen someone goes, ‘We got the (OVW) sticker.” I went, are you joking me? I was like, ‘I’m not getting in the box. I was like, ‘Hell no. I’m not going back to OVW. That’s bullcrap.. I know I’m not the greatest wrestler in the world, but I feel like I’m pretty good. You know? But I was just like, ‘Man. It’s a little messed up..'”

Being unaware if WWE was kidding or not seemed to be a theme with a lot of Kenny’s stories. He spoke about how he wasn’t sure if Vince McMahon was joking when he first pitched the male cheerleader idea to begin with. Vince was serious then and the company was serious about the box idea too. After months of telling the group they’d be splitting, one day it just happened:

“All of a sudden, one day, they were like, “This is it. At the start of the show, you guys are wrestling DX and (Ric) Flair. After the match, you come back, we’ll do the thing where they put you in the box and you guys are done.’ We’re like, ‘OK.’ I thought it would have been cool if we feuded with each other or like maybe even want to turn us babyface. We were getting to the point where people were cheering us. They cheered for some of the cool moves we did too, you know?”

Ken goes into detail on ClubWWI.com about his ideas for the Squad’s future and other plans that could have transitioned into a split. They never happened, though, and the cheerleaders ended their run abruptly. Now, as he’s free from his WWE contract, Dykstra has many options. He speaks about TNA, how he watches it each week, and those he’d like to face. However, Ring of Honor may be a different story…

“I don’t know about Ring of Honor. That crowd is pretty hardcore. I don’t even know if they’d like me.”

James brings up Jeff Hardy’s somewhat disastrous appearance at ROH and Dykstra says that’s the exact reason he’s apprehensive.

“I know. That’s what I’m saying. You’d think Jeff is a big huge babyface and they’re like, ‘We hate you.’ So it’s pretty crazy.’

Dysktra goes on to talk about working against Nigel McGuiness, what Nigel has done for ROH, myths about size, and more. It’s an in-depth discussion with Kenny Dykstra you won’t hear anywhere else but ClubWWI.com, where in addition to Kenny, you’ll hear over 150 uncut shoot interviews including: Bobby Heenan, Terri Runnels, Kevin Nash, The Iron Sheik, Jesse Ventura, Bobby Lashley, Terry Funk, Jerry Lawler, Vince Russo, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Eric Bischoff, Nikita Koloff, Nunzio, Armando Estrada, Dangerous Danny Davis, Ronnie Garvin, Colin Delaney, Jim Mitchell, Chris Harris, Ahmed Johnson,Glacier, Balls Mahoney, Francine, Sid Vicious, Paul Bearer, Brian Knobbs, Bruno Sammartino, Bryan Clark, Sean Mooney, Scott D’Amore, Tito Santana, Al Snow, Tod Gordon, JJ Dillon, Charlie Haas, Tom Prichard, Jacques Rougeau, Paul Roma, Jim Powers, Tammy Sytch, Too Cold Scorpio, The Honky Tonk Man, Ole Anderson, Kid Kash, Ivan Koloff, Jackie Gayda, Mr. Hughes,
