Superstars on WGN Thursday night drew a 0.9 rating, virtually the same as last week.

WWE will be touring Western Canada in August with Raw and Smackdown shows in Saskatoon, Regina, Kamloops, Medicine Hat, Kelowna, and Red Deer. TV’s will be taped in Calgary and Edmonton.

More draft continuity not that I mind in this instance… Jerry Lawler is wrestling at the Smackdown/ECW tapngs in Memphis on 6/2.

DJ Gabriel (remember him?) wrote a very defensive blog on his MySpace complaining about Internet wrestling websites. Although I haven’t read or heard anything about this he is mad that there were reports some where that the company was planning to release him with Alicia Foxx moving to Smackdown. He wrote: “I’d like to make my statement and say I’ve been in the company for nearly four years, and it has been an honor. And I’d like to state that my tenure within the WWE is at a good pace, and I do believe it will continue that way. These so-called accurate websites are actually wrong most of the time. It is just a rumor mill site, just like TMZ. I give the site publishers credit for actually trying to find out the inside scoop on our company, but it is no use. They thrive for the rumors, and usually post one by one on every site on here. So next time a publisher actually does claim something about me, they can contact me at any time. They can contact me on the MySpace, on the WWE Universe site, or even in person at a live event/airport/etc. I’m giving the publishers the chance to contact me, and I can state that the ‘facts’ they are discussing, are only opinions.” He also wrote about being upset that he wasn’t including on the European tour or at Wrestlemania. Not a smart move.

Candice Michelle at http://tinyurl.com/chm2yt claims she secretly wished she was drafted to Smackdown. She said she is looking forward to feuding with Michelle McCool.

Empire Magazine in the UK has a positive review of 12 Rounds with John Cena. I’m assuming the writer actually saw the movie. The UK release date is 5/27.

The Top 10 Sport DVD’s in the 5/2 edition of Billboard Magazine are: 1.
NFL: Super Bowl XLIII Champions: Pittsburgh Steelers; 2. UFC: Best Of 2008; 3. Phil Mickelson: Secrets Of The Short Game; 4. UFC: The Ultimate
Fighter: Season 8; 5. WWE: The History Of The Intercontinental Championship; 6. WWE: No Way Out 2009; 7. WWE: The Best Of Saturday Night’s Main Event; 8. WWE: The Legacy Of Stone Cold Steve Austin; 9.
NHL: The History Of The Boston Bruins; and 10. WWE: The Twisted, Disturbed Life Of Kane.

The WWE stock closed out the week at $10.94 on the NYSE.

TNA NEWS

4/24 house show results from Lakewood, OH: Suicide over Brutus Magnus; Sojo Bolt over Madison Rayne; Sheik Abdul Bashir over Shark Boy; Lethal Consequences over Beer Money, Inc.; Rhino over Sheik Abdul Bashir (due to no Matt Morgan); and Samoa Joe & Jeff Jarrett over Scott Steiner & Kurt Angle.

Show drew around 400 in a venue that holds 500. Jeremy Borash was doing his usual deal hyping the crowd by offering “backstage passes” to the loudest people in attendance and saying he received a text message from Steiner who said everyone in Lakewood is a Jabronie. Said to be a good show with everyone working hard. There was a lot of fan interaction due to the intamicy of the building. After the main event Angle got on the mic and claimed they are getting close to beating WWE in the ratings. I guess he means ECW but they are beating Superstars at the moment.

TNA run tonight at the Eastwood Expo Center in Niles, and also the Franklin County Veterans Memorial in Columbus on Sunday. We’re looking for reports from both of these shows to [email protected]

Matt Morgan missed the show last night in Lakewood. Jeremy Borash said Morgan was involved in an auto accident but at press time we are still trying to confirm the story. If true that would be the second in as many weeks.

Jay Lethal has signed a new three-year deal.

A certain TNA employee who doesn’t live in the area was spotted yesterday in Connecticuit. Just saying.

Impact on Thursday night drew a 1.2 rating.

Announcer Lauren Brooke is hosting the College Sports Minute video channel over at Hulu.com.

A funny note from the UK. Lockdown, which aired for free on Wednesday, listed the show as follows on it’s EPG guide: “Catch TNA’s biggest stars as they go head to head filmed before a live audience. Featuring an epic battle between veteran wrestler Mick Foley, and his younger rival Sting.” To be fair Foley, 43, does look arguably older than Sting, 50.

Foley threw out first pitch last night at the Reading Phillies Baseball Game. He will be appearing today at the Steel City Con in Pittsburgh.

A couple of house shows added. 6/19 at the Deltaplex Arena in Grand Rapids, and 6/19 at the Civic Arena in St. Joseph, MI. They are now are offering a $5 discount at house shows to all college students and military personnel with I.D.

Warner Bros. said they may be interested in picking up Midway Games, the maker of the TNA video game, who filed Chapter 11 on 2/12.

OTHER NEWS

The swine flu epidemic in Mexico has caused over 60 shows to be
cancelled in the Distrito Federal. Apparently due to the virus this
would be first time since 1985 (earthquake) that an Arena Mexico show
has been cancelled. The government has said they don’t want people to
gather in masses due to the risk of the virus spreading. They have also
closed all the schools in Mexico City.

Kenny Omega of ROH talks WWE developmental at http://tinyurl.com/ddjyv6
saying he’s glad he left: “… it didn’t take long for me to realize
that I really wasn’t in it for the money and it started to feel like a
dead end job or a chore. It took the fun and purpose out of my life a
lot of the time, because you really have no friends in the wrestling
business. Everybody (in WWE developmental) was just trying to kiss ass
and was willing to stab you in the back just to elevate their own
career. It just wasn’t the environment I wanted to be in.”

Torrie Wilson was announced for the cast of NBC’s new show I’m a
Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here debuting on 6/1. That’s a huge deal for
her. ABC originally aired one season of the show in February and March
2003 before it was cancelled. The show is really popular overseas,
especially in the UK. Other confirmed cast members include former
supermodel Janice Dickinson, The Hills star Heidi Montag and her heel
boyfriend Spencer Pratt, actor Stephen Baldwin and American Idol star
Sanjaya Malakarref. Access Hollywood will be running a piece on the show
in the next few days.

The Poughkeepsie Journal at http://tinyurl.com/cxuof2 has a story on
Bret Hart who talks about wrestling in the town many years ago. He told
a story about how Vince got mad at him in one match for using a
piledriver, which was Paul Orndorff’s finisher at the time.

Terry Funk has been added to the Legends of the Arena event in
Philadelphia, PA on 6/27.
