5/25 Raw TV results from Los Angeles, CA: Kelly Kelly over Maryse via DQ; Kofi Kingston over Matt Hardy & William Regal in a three way; Mickie James & Santino Marella over Beth Phoenix &  Chavo Guerrero; Goldust & Hornswoggle over The Brian Kendrick & Festus; and Team Lakers (Batista, Jerry Lawler, John Cena, MVP & Mr. Kennedy) over Team Nuggets (Big Show, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes & The Miz).

Lame and embarrassing. Jim Ross was announcing with Michael Cole as Jerry Lawler was wrestling in the main event. Vince McMahon opened the show to confront a fake Stan Kroenke. Sitting ringside was a fake NBA Commissioner David Stern, a fake Lakers owner Jerry Buss, and a fake Jack Nicholson. McMahon cut a promo on Kroenke talking about how WWE was “forced out of Denver,” you know, because they had no choice but to move production over 800 miles to LA, cancel or reschedule five live events, and subject everyone to bad comedy. He ended up shoving the fake Kroenke out of the ring. The Miz then came out in a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey and for cheap heat to declare his team would win the NBA finals. This brought out Cena, which brought out Big Show, which brought out Lawler, which brought out Legacy, which brought out Batista to clean house for the babyfaces and set up the main event. Batista’s jeans were so tight he could barely move.

Next we had a Divas title match with Maryse, who Lilian Garcia announced as hailing from Ontario (Jim Ross made the correction) attempting to carry Kelly Kelly to a half decent match. It was just train wreck ugly.
The finish was even more ugly. They fought to the outside and Maryse was disqualified for pushing Kelly over the top of the announce table.
Seriously. Disqualified for pushing someone over!

Backstage the Bella Twins were hitting on the fake Jack Nicholson. More bad comedy. Goldust and Hornswoggle did a reenactment of the court room scene from A Few Good Men. Goldust is doing the gimmick again where he has Tourette’s syndrome except because they are PG rated now he can’t swear so he just stutters like Matt Morgan.

Kofi Kingston earned a U.S. title shot at MVP next week by beating Matt Hardy and William Regal in a three-way. This was by far the best thing on the show.

Ric Flair called out Randy Orton who said he wouldn’t lower himself to beating up a 60-year-old washed up legend like Chris Jericho did. Flair slapped Orton. They fought with Orton gaining the advantage. Batista tried to run out again in his tight jeans for the save. The idea here is that Flair was mad at Batista for breaking up the fight too soon. Flair thinks Batista thinks he doesn’t have it any more. Enter Mr. Kennedy to announce he would be the mystery partner in the 10-man tag.

Santino and Mickie James beat Beth Phoenix and Chavo Guerrero. It’s going to be Santina vs. Vickie Guerrero at Extreme Rules in a Hog Pen.
They actually did this match 14 years ago with Triple H and Henry Godwinn. It was the scene of one of Owen Hart’s most elaborate ribs when he and Davey Boy Smith herded all the Hog’s they were using that night into Vince McMahon’s office.

Goldust and Hornswoggle beat Festus and The Brian Kendrick. Carlito and Primo were on commentary. The story was Festus refusing to fight Hornswoggle. Goldust eventually pinned Kendrick with the Final Cut.
Kendrick was mad at Festus and was about to hit him with a chair until Primo rang the bell. Festus then came out of his brain dead state and Kendrick ran for his life.

Final segment was the 10-man tag introduced by Lakers public-address announcer Lawrence Tanner. Entertaining match. Towards the finish Kennedy botched a suplex and dropped Orton on his surgerically repaired shoulder. Orton was visible upset and pounded his fist into the mat.
Kennedy was now lost and kept looking back to see when he needed to make the hot tag. Cena tagged in and he and MVP hit a tandem Five Knuckle Shuffle and Ballin’ Elbow on Rhodes. MVP got the pin following a Playmaker. It broke down and everyone hit their finisher including Kennedy botching an RKO in which he appeared to injure his wrist. The show went off the air as Cena and Batista hit a double team suplex on Big Show.

The Smackdown/ECW tapings are tonight at Staples Center with Eve vs.
Lalya announced for the show and they are also doing another skit on the Denver Nuggets. A dark cage match with Edge vs. Jeff Hardy is advertised locally. I assume match will actually happen although they false advertised cage matches for Raw last night.

Following the show last night most of the Raw crew flew out of LA and straight to Monterrey, Mexico. They run Wednesday and Thursday at Arena Monterrey, Friday at Plaza Del Toros in Queretaro and Saturday at the Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City. Rey Mysterio is on the tour from Thursday and John Cena is only listed for Monterrey.

We’re looking for reader reports from all these shows to you2us@wrestlingglobe.com.

The ECW main event tonight is a trios match of Finlay, Tommy Dreamer & Christian vs. DH Smith, Tyson Kidd & Jack Swagger.

As noted Santina vs. Vickie Guerrero in a Hog Pen was added to Extreme Rules in New Orleans on 6/7. WWE.com confirmed the Miss Wrestlemania crown is on the line. The card is now complete with Randy Orton vs.
Batista in a steel cage for the WWE title; John Cena vs. Big Show in a submission match; Edge vs.Jeff Hardy in a Ladder match for the World title; CM Punk vs. Umaga in a Strap match; and Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho in a No Holds Barred match for the IC title.

Raw last night drew around 8000 fans some of whom didn’t pay as WWE were handing out free tickets all over town, and even outside the Staples Center before the show. WWE has a blanket policy of not revealing numbers to media unless they sell out. It was funny as Michael Cole several times during the live broadcast kept claiming the building was “at capacity.” The LA Times even ran a story saying they were sold out at a “special limited capacity.” In reality all the upper level seats were tarped off and darkened. Also most of the concession stands were closed. They announced that anyone who wants to go to tonight’s Smackdown taping can get 50% off if they show their used Raw ticket stub at the box office. For Superstars they taped Primo & Carlito vs. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, and Jack Swagger vs. Finlay. After the show Cena beat Miz in what was said to be a solid 15-minute match. Cena then got on the mic and thanked LA for coming out at such short notice.
(Thanks to Brian Baiotto, Mark Jacobs and many other readers who sent in notes from the show)

No update at press time on Kennedy who appeared to injure his wrist last night after the main event.

The Iron Sheik and Rob Vam Dam were among those backstage visiting at the show. Candice Michelle was also there but she is still rehabbing an ankle injury. Former Diva Joy Giovanni was sitting second row on the hard camera side as a fan. I was told a story that she tried to go backstage but security didn’t know who she was and they refused her entry.

At the Smackdown house show this past weekend in Las Cruces, NM a 9-year-old boy jumped the guardrail and hugged CM Punk following his match with Dolph Ziggler. Over zealous security pulled him out of the ring by his leg and he fell face first on the floor. His family went nuts at security and they were ejected from the building.

The Sun at www.the-sun.co.uk/wrestling has a new interview up with John Cena pushing 12 Rounds in the UK. He says anyone who pans his movies before watching them are ignorant and challenges Dwayne Johnson yet again.

Exodus, the 4-year-old daughter of Wrestlemania 14 main eventer Mike Tyson was listed in critical condition at a Phoenix hospital last night after she was found hanging by the neck of treadmill cable in what appears to be a freak accident at Tyson’s home. Responding officers performed CPR on the girl as they rushed her to the hospital. Tyson had been in Las Vegas over the weekend attending the UFC show but flew back to Phoenix immediately after learning of the accident. Footage from local TV station KTVK showed Tyson arriving at the hospital and going inside. A statement released by the Tyson family this morning said: “The Tyson family would like to extend out deepest and most heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and support, and we ask that we be allowed our privacy at this difficult time.”
