MIKE POSEY (and COREY HOLLIS)
MIKE POSEY – The Birmingham, AL native performed as a wrestler and referee initially in Alabama & Georgia, most notably for NWA Wildside. He joined TNA as a referee, and also wrestled in a feud with David Young as “Dropkick” Posey. He resigned from TNA to try-out for WWE and after several dark matches was the 1st referee to join WWE’s development promotion Deep South Wrestling, initially without a WWE contract. Soon he was signed. When the ECW brand was launched he joined the WWE roster as one of its refs, eventually becoming the brand’s Sr. official. In his time in WWE he was a ref in matches on all three WWE brands and appeared at two WrestleManias. Returning to wrestling in 2009, Mike Posey teamed with former WWE Referee, Wes Adams, as the Official Express and Corey Hollis as Alabama Attitude in ROH. Posey won numerous singles titles including RPW TV Title, NWA Ultimate Tag Team Title, APW North Georgia Title, Alabama Junior Heavyweight Title, NWA Tennessee Junior Heavyweight Champion, NWA Pro South All Out & Tag Team Champion, and more. Posey was ranked in the 2012 PWI 500 at 333 up from 438 in 2011 and 470 in 2010.. In 2013 PWI 500 ranked Mike Posey at 320 and Corey Hollis at 318.

ANARCHY WRESTLING in CORNELIA, GA On Oct 26 Corey Hollis was defeated TNS’s Gunner, and Mike Posey defeated Slim J. They returned to Anarchy on November 9 and were defeated by Iceberg & Slim J. December 14 Posey & Hollis def G Rated (Rinauro & Delay). On 12-28, Corey Hollis replacing Franklin Dove def Mike Posey. Mike Posey returned to Anarchy Wrestling on Jan 11 def Kameron Kade. On Jan 25 Posey def Frankie Valentine, and Hollis was def by Billy Buck in a TV Title match. Posey faces Mikael Judas on Feb 8, while Hollis is challenged by John Skyler.
Cory Hollis defeated Mike Posey in a Top Prospect match in Nashville on January 4. Hollis then lost to Raymond Rowe in the second round. Both matches will air on ROH television. www.rohwrestling.com
ROH TV REPORT
We are back and Bill Daly comes out and he says that he will not compete in this tournament. He says that he suffered a high ankle strain and he has been advised to withdraw from the Top Prospect Tournament. He says that he is already the Top Prospect, he demands a World Television Title Match.
Corey’s hand is raised by the referee but Mike Posey, who is in his corner takes the mic and says that Corey does not want to win and advance in the tournament like that. No one knows Corey better than him. He tells Corey that he knows that he is a man of honor and a good sport. He wants Corey to prove to everyone that he deserves to move into the second round and beat him.
Match Number Two: Corey Hollis versus Mike Posey in a Top Prospect Tournament First Round Match
Posey with a wrist lock and take down and then he slaps Hollis in the back. Hollis with a waist lock take down and he slaps Posey in the head and then Hollis with a drop kick and pescado onto Posey. Posey runs Hollis into the guardrails and ring post. Posey with a slingshot leg drop for a near fall.
Posey sends Hollis shoulder first into the turnbuckles and he gets a near fall. Posey with a slam and he hits a series of snap leg drops and finishes with a split leg drop for a near fall. Posey with a key lock but Hollis escapes with an arm drag. Posey misses a move into the corner and he crotches himself.
Hollis with a reverse atomic drop and clotheslines followed by a drop kick. Hollis with a kick to the knee followed by a snap neck breaker for a near fall. Posey with a spinning butterfly suplex for a near fall. Posey with forearms and Hollis fires back with forearms of his own. Hollis with a discus clothesline to the back of the head for a near fall.
Hollis misses a spinning back fist and Posey with a neck breaker and he hits an Alabama Jam for a near fall. Posey slaps Hollis but Hollis with a spinning back elbow for the three count.
Winner: Corey Hollis

Anarchy Wrestling Report from Cornelia, GA for January 25

Anarchy wrestling’s second TV taping of 2014 was a solid enough show, but the big story in Cornelia, GA these days is the resurgence in attendance at the Anarchy Arena.
The show drew 140 coming off 130 on January 11 and 250 for the company’s major holiday show, Season’s Beatings that featured an appearance by AJ Styles. It’s the best run at the gate since Franklin Dove took over ownership of the promotion. It may not seem like much but it is a sizeable percentage move. Attendance at TV tapings was averaging 100 at best and 120 was tops. Another encouraging sign was the large number of new faces in the crowd.
The first half of the show was a bit sluggish, but it picked up midway through with Washington Bullets vs. Ace Rockwell & Steven Walters, and finished strong by setting up an unexpected match that split the crowd. A number of interesting directions were set in motion as the booking continues to defy predictability.
Cold venues don’t make for hot crowds and the Anarchy Arena was frigid. The building has no heat. And the outdoor temperature was hovering around 30 at bell time. Where were those portable heaters they used to have when we needed them? The crowd was on the lethargic side all night long. A number of good matches got only so-so reactions. There was more to it than that though. Anarchy is in somewhat of reset mode, and the new fans are not fully acclimated to the stories and characters.
Mike Posey was accompanied to the ring by an uber reluctant Corey Hollis. Posey professed that Alabama Attitude was a united front, and said his best friend Hollis was going to be the next Anarchy TV Champion before the night was over. Fans chanted “leave the munchkin” at Hollis.
(1)Mike Posey defeated Frankie Valentine in 7:20. Good match, paltry heat. Posey rolled through on Valentine’s O’Connor Roll and used the tights to score the pin. I don’t know what it is about Posey. The guy’s a good talker, easy to dislike, talented in the ring, and he’s been placed in some juicy spot at Anarchy, but he just doesn’t get heat. Valentine was making his return after several years of absence, and most fans didn’t have a clue about him.
Miss Rachael came to the ring with BJ Hancock, Anthony Henry and Shane Marx. Rachael said 2014 had been a wonderful year so far. Her guys dismantled Todd Sexton last time. Todd was on a stretcher, his poor wife was crying, and there she was without her camera. Sexton’s music hit and out came Joey Rhymer. The skinny beard and flesh colored skull cap have transformed his look. What a douche. I love it. Rachael said the time wasn’t right for a singles match between “The Five Star King” Henry and her PCW import Marx, because a match over a girl results in high emotions and jealousy and tonight was about mercilessness.
Brodie Chase did some hilarious mic work. He was accompanied by a new blonde girl, Ginger and a makeshift team of babyfaces. Chase said protection was needed because they certainly didn’t want to catch anything so it nice that she was sponsored by “condom head” Rhymer. Chase conduced a poll to determine the loveliest female which was naturally won by Ginger. That lead to a “Ho must go chant” and that led to Rhymer getting in Chase’s face and having the shit slapped out of him. They got more out of this segment than I could have ever imagined.
(2) BJ Hancock & Anthony Henry & Shane Marx & Joey Rhymer (with Miss Rachael) defeated Lars Manderson & Kameron Kade & Ryan Hunter & Jeremy Foster (with Brodie Chase & Ginger) in 10 minutes even. UIW booker Stan Robinson made his first Anarchy appearance as the referee. Joey mocked Sexton by using the crossface on Foster. Rachael’s team had a rash of selfish, uninvited tags to set up an impressive house cleaning sequence by Manderson. He’s got the height and athletic ability, but looks green and gangly at this stage, and is in desperate need of a name change. Manderson press tossed Rhymer over the top rope onto Marx and Henry, but got dumped out by Hancock. At first, Kade was able to escape from Hancock’s piledriver but the second time was the charm.
Postmatch, Hancock left Ginger laying with a devastating piledriver. Hancock has been unexpectedly awesome as a heel. He was laughing about the dirty deed and it was high fives all around amongst Rachael’s crew. Dove and Bill Behrens came out to check on Ginger, who was carried out by Chase. Ginger sold it like a champ. A stretcher would have really driven home the point with such a slightly built female as the victim.
Jonathan Feltner urged the fans to fire up because the next match was being shot for a movie (by Funk Productions). Dory Funk was introduced as the special referee and received a much better reaction than I expected. He thanked Anarchy Wrestling and the fans in Cornelia for helping out. Marti Funk was at ringside shooting the footage.
(3) Jessica “Powerhouse” Hill defeated Hollywood Heather in 6:31 with special referee Dory Funk. Heather is a legit six footer. They did a few very good things in the context of a truly horrible match. The fans saw it for what it was and tuned it out. Heather had Hill beaten after an elevated double chicken wing face plant that looked tremendous, but she decided to parade around the ring and make a nonchalant cover that Hill reversed with a crucifix pin.
The postmatch was comedy gold of the unintentional variety. Hill and Heather continued to fight at ringside. Behrens sorta broke it up and took his first bump in five years. Funk and Heather argued.
(4) Hot Commodity (CB Suave & Tommy Penirelli) defeated Brandon Parker & Joey Romano in 8:07. Penirelli has added some new wrinkles to his offense. Romano communicates well with facial expressions and has good instincts in the ring, but looks like he’s never seen the inside of a gym. There’s no way to take a guy with such a terrible physique seriously as a pro wrestler. Romano instigated a Hot Commodity collision to set up the hot tag. Parker’s babyface fire has never been better. He was killing them with Kawada kicks, but made an ill-advised tag to Romano, who flew from the top. Penirelli rolled through and submitted Romano with an ankle lock.
Postmatch, Penirelli was not happy about Suave celebrating and stealing his thunder.
(5) Bobby Moore defeated Alex Averignos in 4:12. Averignos is a work in progress. This was a competitive match while it lasted. They sold generously for each other. The importance of that as a key ingredient to a goo match cannot be overstated. Averignos missed a hammerlock clothesline and got obliterated by Moore’s discus forearm. Moore won it with the sick kick that he usually uses for a near fall.
(6) Ace Rockwell & Steven Walters defeated Washington Bullets (Jon & Trey Williams) in 14 minutes. A fine blend of comedy and action. The Bullets were entertaining as always. Fans gave them grief for their chicken ways. Ace said to quit yelling chicken or the Bullets would get hungry. Jon took a Hall of Fame bump for Walter’s European uppercut. Bullets used chicanery to get heat on Rockwell. Rockwell got a clear path for the tag, but Walters had been knocked off the apron. Rockwell hit a super backdrop suplex on Trey. Both down. Tags made. A roller coaster back and forth followed. Walters had Jon in a leglock submission and got nailed by Trey to break it up. Jon celebrated like a fool and paid for it. Rockwell hit Aces High when the ref wasn’t looking and Walters covered for the 1-2-3.
Bullets faked dissension after the match.
(7) Leon Saver defeated Ethan Case and Laredo Kid and Eli Daniels in a fatal four way match in 4:08. For ring presence and skill, Case blew away the other guys in the match. Case dominated but couldn’t convert on his finisher, and in the end, Saver reversed it for the pin.
(8) Shaun Tempers (with Jeff G. Bailey) pinned Kevin Blue to become the new Young Lion’s Champion at 10:11. Blue got one of the better babyface entrance pops of the night. This was more compelling than their first match at Season’s Beatings. Blue nailed Tempers with high boot to the mush that looked absolutely wicked. Tempers rolled to the floor for some TLC from Bailey. Blue tried to follow up with a tope and got cut off by a Tempers forearm. Back inside, Tempers hit a Tiger Bomb for two. Blue had Tempers’ cobra clutch backbreaker scouted. Likewise, Tempers had Blue’s Air Raid Crash scouted. Tempers then kicked out of an O’Connor Roll sending Blue into a face full of the Temptation Spray from Bailey. Blue was easy pickings for the Tempers neckbreaker. Blue’s run with the title was constructive and there was certainly no shame in losing it to Tempers. It feels to me like the fans now see him on a higher level. Tempers is hardly a young lion so it will be interesting to see what he direction he takes with the title.
(9) Billy Buck defeated Corey Hollis to retain the Anarchy TV Title in 12:06. Best match of the night. It had the aura of an authentic struggle. The match had dramatic tension instead of outright heat. The crowd didn’t want to root against either one. Buck is as over as it gets and Hollis is in the midst of turning baby. Posey kicked Feltner out of the announce booth and hijacked the color commentator spot. A cautious feeling out process built to each ducking the other guy’s finisher. Buck punched on the break. Hollis returned the favor. Hollis took a full rotation bump on Buck’s german suplex. Buck tried it again. Hollis landed on his feet and lit into Buck with clotheslines. Hollis with a falcon arrow for two. Buck with a spinebuster for two. Hollis with a pair of near falls but a Buck superkick sent him out of the ring. Buck hauled Hollis back into the ring just before the 10 count, but Hollis kicked out. They traded submissions, Hollis with a crossface chickenwing and Buck with the figure four. Hollis tried for the back elbow. It missed and Buck’s superkick was a thing of beauty, right on the button.
Posey challenged Buck and received a title on February 8– with Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Mikael Judas!
(10) Iceberg defeated former Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Geter via DQ at 2:50. It was best to keep this short and they did. Geter jumped the bell and had the better of it until missing a charge into the corner. Iceberg tattooed Geter with punches and kicked him in the nuts. Geter decked Berg with a right hand. The action spilled to ringside where Berg whipped Geter into the post and was attacked by Urban Assault Squad (Shadow Jackson & Nemesis).
Judas came to Berg’s rescue and they were attacked by Se7en & Tempers (with Bailey). Slim J and Hate Junkies (Stryknyn & Dany Only) ran out to even the odds leading to…
(11) Unforgiveable Blackness (Geter & Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) & The Elite (Shaun Tempers & Se7en with Jeff G. Bailey) defeated Mikael Judas & Iceberg & Slim J & Stryknyn & Dany Only in 4:51 when former champion Geter pinned current champion Judas. First Only and then Slim were isolated and beaten down. Judas took the tag and had his sights on Se7en when he was Pounced by the 400 pound Geter. WOW. Se7en killed Judas dead with a high boot, but Geter made a blind tag and stole the pin with a running splash. Again, short was the right way to go to maximize the impact.
Geter and Se7en locked eyes in an intense staredown with the crowd split down the middle. Geter vs. Se7en to determine the number one contender for Judas’ title was announced for February 8. Chaos ensued as the two combatants were separated by their teammates to close the show.

Deep Southern Championship Wrestling was created in March of of 2010 and started running shows once a month in Ellijay, Ga. We started out in a place known as Gilmer Golf and games. Our first show drew a crowd of 35 or 40 people. DSCW didn’t get discouraged though we kept giving good quality matches at a fair price and got our crowds up to 150 or more. We had to move to gyms and civic centers to support our fan base, drawing close to 600 on some of our big shows.

Report from Platinum Championship Wrestling in Porterdale on February 1

This show was what I’d call the calm before the proverbial storm. It was good, and it was the build for the return of Stephen Platinum on February 15th where huge things will happen. The crowd was composed of only the diehards. It’s possible that the weather from earlier in the week kept others away, but there were 56 people in The Main Event for PCW action.
Match 1: William Huckaby (w/Shawn Adams) vs. Joe Black
Winner: Joe Black
The match began with grappling, and William Huckaby attempted to pin Joe Black by rolling him up. Black put Huckaby in a side headlock, but Huckaby rolled out. Black elbowed Huckaby in the face and continued working the head. Black attempted a submission where he wrapped his entire body around Huckaby, but it ended in a rope break. Black slid out of the ring as Huckaby jumped back in. Huckaby rolled outside. Black jumped out of the ring. He did a tornado DDT through the second rope that knocked Huckaby to the floor. Huckaby powerbombed Black on the apron, there was a pin attempt, but Black kicked out at 2. Huckaby elbowed Black in the shoulders then followed with a backbreaker. Black punched Huckaby in the jaw. Huckaby answered with a spinebuster to Black. Huckaby slammed Black’s head into the aprong then chopped him in the chest several times outside the ring. Huckaby slammed Black’s head into the ringpost. Huckaby tried to pin Black, but the referee caught him trying to put his feet on the rope for leverage. Shawn Adams distracted the referee, and Joe Black began arguing with Adams. Adams meant to strike Black, but Black got out of the way and Adams struck Huckaby. Black pinned Huckaby in the confusion.
Adams and Huckaby argued over their miscommunication while Joe Black took a bow and said “Hey, Huckaby, maybe next time.” Shawn Adams asked for some competition of his own.
Match 2: Sugar Shane vs. Shawn Adams
Winner: Shawn Adams
Quasi Mandisco came to the ring. “William Huckaby, Shawn Adams, Do you see this? This is the mask of Supernatural, one of the fan favorites. We got rid of Supernatural. If you want to come back to Porterdale, then leave the ring. This man is a member of the baddest group in professional wrestling. He is God’s gift to wrestling.”
Anyone who wrestles one of Quasi Mandisco’s goons instantly has a one match face turn, as Quasi now holds the title of most hated man in Porterdale. The crowd was clearly behind Adams for this contest.
Shawn Adams dominated the match early on, but Sugar Shane quickly got control as he cornered Adams. Quasi choked Adams in the corner while the referee was distracted trying to keep William Huckaby from interfering in the match. Shane thumbed Adams in the eye, and while the referee dealt with that Quasi interfered again. Shane attempted a pin, but Adams kicked out. Shane did a neckbreaker, then unsuccessfully attempted another pin. Adams hit Shane with a couple of clotheslines. Huckaby clocked Shane while the referee argued with Quasi. Adams capitalized and won the match. Quasi pitched a fit all the way up the stairs because Sugar Shane was beaten at his own game.
Jeff G. Bailey sang the praises of Chip Day. He noted that he and Chip added a special song of celebration and that they were trying to help us escape our boring lives. “You’ve no idea what is offered to you because you’re too stupid to realize you’ve got the opportunity to be part of something great.” Bailey went on for a while, and the crowd grew rabid at his ravings. He said he’d heard Platinum was in the building, and Def Leppard’s Rock of Ages played, but instead of Stephen Platinum we were graced with Chip Day dressed in Platinum’s trademark green track jacket. Chip Day said that he, not Stephen Platinum, was the true life force of PCW.
Match 3 : Warhorse vs. Sylar Cross
Winner: Sylar Cross.
Sylar Cross dropkicked the Warhorse and pounded him in the face. Cross followed this with a standing suplex and a huge forearm to the head of the Warhorse. Cross hit the Warhorse three times, and the Warhorse was down in the corner. Cross buttslammed Warhorse in the face. Cross picked Warhorse up, slammed him into the canvas, and it was over. Sylar continued his assault by twisting the Warhorse like a pretzel into his version of a lion tamer.
Match 4: Bobby Moore(w/Miss Rachel) vs. Dynomite Soul
Winner: Dynomite Soul
Rachel spoke about February 15th. “Stephen Platinum’s been crowing a lot lately on his little vanity trip. He’s taking time from those hardworking people in the back playing wrestler. Steve, I hope you realize what happens here tonight is only a taste of what happens to you when you face Shane Marx on the 15th.
The match started on the mat. Dynomite Soul elbowed Bobby Moore and got Moore back down. Moore countered and put Dynomite into a headscissors, but Dynomite broke it. Dynomite seized control of the match, but at the 5 minute mark, Moore regained the upper hand. The referee argued with Moore while Rachel assaulted Dynomite outside the ring. Moore stomped Dynomite’s head. Moore kicked Dynomite, then spun a forearm into Dynomite’s chest. Moore then did a neckbreaker and attempted to pin Dynomite. Dynomite kicked out. Moore had him down in a headlock, but Dynomite managed to get up. Dynomite hit Moore with a jawbreaker. Moore slammed Dynomite then unsuccessfully attempted to pin him. Dynomite threw Moore into the corner. Dynomite went to the top rope and landed an elbow but did not manage the pin. Dynomite punched Moore in the face, but Rachel broke up the next pin attempt. Dynomite argued with Rachel while Moore got his “special” elbow pad. It made no difference. Dynomite Soul pinned Bobby Moore and got the win.
Match 5: De La Vega vs. Adrian Armour
Winner: Adrian Armour
De La Vega said that last time Adrian Armour cheated and grabbed his tights. He wanted him to come out and face him like a “Grown Ass Man”. Armour circled the ring, grabbed the black chair, sat outside the ring in the chair, and didn’t enter the ring until the 9 count. Armour got back in the ring for one second, then got out and argued with fans. Vega followed. Vega punched Armour in the face. Once back in the ring Vega landed a cross body onto Armour. The referee kept Vega from following Armour outside the ring. Armour returned to the ring, and Vega hit him with shots to the midsection. Armour knocked Vega down and tried to pin him, but Vega kicked out. He tried to make him submit, but Vega broke the hold. Armour kicked Vega and stomped his face. Armour tried to put Vega out with a sleeper hold but Vega stayed in it. Vega punched Armour. Armour hit Vega with a backbreaker. Vega answered with a high impact neckbreaker, but Armour kicked out of Vega’s pin attempt. Armour managed to pin Vega, but his feet were on the rope. Vega was furious that Armour cheated again, so he punched Armour in the gut and kicked him out of the ring.
Main Event: Marko Polo vs. Chip Day for the PCW Championship
Marko Polo started out strong with shots to Chip Day’s face. Polo slammed Day three times. Day left the ring to regroup. Day threw Polo out of the ring and Polo hit Day in the face while outside. Once they returned to the ring Day answered Polo’s blows with kicks. Polo countered with a flying clothesline. Day’s ringside companions interfered, and Polo is kicked to the outside. Day firmly punched Polo, but Polo still returned them to the ring. Day flipped over the rope onto Polo, but he didn’t manage to put him away. Day punched Polo in the head and followed that with a crisp kick. Day unsuccessfully attempted a pin a second time. Day punched Polo, and Polo answered with a kick. Day clotheslined Polo, but still only managed a 2 count. Polo turned it around with with a clothesline, then he drove Day into the turnbuckle, slammed him, and hit him with a legdrop. Day kicked out at 2. Polo hit Day with a forearm, and then he attempted his version of a “Sister Abigail”, but Chip held the rope. Chip regained control. He repeatedly kicked Polo in the corner, lifted him to the top rope, but Polo punched Day down. Day snapmared Polo off the top turnbuckle then kneed him in the back of the skull. Day attempted a pin, but Polo kicked out. Polo whipped Day into the ropes then answered with a pretty kick. Day’s companions interfered, and Day kicked Polo in the face and pinned him for the win, retaining the title. Day and his companions threw Polo out of the ring so they could celebrate.
Jeff G. Bailey said “Don’t you turn our music down. Tell all your friends how Shane Marx will bury Stephen Platinum in the ring, and that stupid banner will come off the wall forever. “(He referred to the PCW Banner over the commentary table). The fans continued to yell at Jeff G. Bailey, and it seemed they were interested in arguing for the rest of the evening. He yelled into the microphone so loud at this point that it sounded like “rah rah rah rah”. Still, the crowd continued to throw their insults at Day’s win and Bailey’s comments.
Chip Day and Sylar Cross are set to take on the Washington Bullets at PCW’s next show on February 15th. The main event of the next show will be Stephen Platinum vs. Shane Marx in Stephen Platinum’s last in-ring appearance.
