In The Meantime

  • Chris Jericho (participant) and Goldberg (assistant coach for other team) did a skit during the NHL All-Star hockey game.
  • ~~~Jericho “went insane” in the second period and started beating up the referee and the other team’s goalie.
  • ~~~Bill Goldberg finally went over, picked Chris Jericho up, and carried him back to his bench.
  • April 2002: Bill Goldberg participated in a Celebrity Auto Race but didn’t finish the race due to car problems.
  • ~~~Goldberg got pissed and smashed his arm on the car, breaking his left arm and will wear a cast for 6-8 weeks.
  • ~~~Bill Goldberg continued to collect money from his guaranteed contract from Time/Warner after the sale to Vince McMahon.
  • May 2 2002: Bill Goldberg signed a contract buyout with AOL/Time Warner, making him a free agent.

Japan

  • August 2002: Bill Goldberg went to Japan about possible involvement in various Shoot Fighting and Wrestling origanizations.
  • August 12, 2002: PRIDE confirmed that Bill Goldberg would appear and do color commentary for the 8/28 Shockwave event.
  • August 30, 2002: Bill Goldberg made his return to the ring for All Japan Pro Wrestling, his first match since January 2001.
  • ~~~Goldberg only needed four minutes and two seconds to defeat Japanese super star Satoshi Kojima.
  • ~~~Goldberg didn’t use the spear and jackhammer, but rather a flying clothesline for the victory.
  • ~~~Goldberg did still have the same pyro and enterance music.
  • August 31, 2002 – AJPW: Bill Goldberg defeated Taiyo Kea
  • September 1, 2002: Goldberg agreed to work additional dates with All Japan.
  • ~~~The deal was not ‘exclusive’ and allows Goldberg to negotiate with another company.
  • ~~~The deal even allowed him to work for other companies in Japan as well.
  • November 17, 2002: Bill Goldberg defeated Rick Steiner in Yokohama, Japan at a W-1 show.
  • December 2002: Bill Goldberg has apparently been approached about a Rock vs Goldberg match at WrestleMania 19.
  • January 8, 2003: Bill Goldberg and Vince McMahon met in a hotel in Los Angeles to discuss a WWE contract.
  • ~~~Bill Goldberg’s WWE contract is reported to expire shortly after next year’s WrestleMania XX.

  • April 21, 2003 – RAW: Goldberg interrupts the “Rock” Concert II but Rock ends up whacking Goldberg with a steel chair!

  • September 15, 2003 – RAW: Triple H throws a “Going Away Party” for Goldberg, but Goldberg shows up and gorilla press slams HHH!
  • September 21, 2003 – Unforgiven: Bill Goldberg FINALLY defeated Triple H to capture the World Heavyweight title!
  • September 22, 2003 – RAW: Bill Goldberg defeated Chris Jericho to retain the World title with interference from Bischoff and Austin.
  • September 29, 2003 – RAW: Triple H (taped segment) issues a $100,000 bounty to anybody who take “take Bill Goldberg out of the game”.

  • November 3, 2003 – RAW: Bill Goldberg returns to RAW, saving GM Steve Austin from an Evolution beating – + beer bash.
  • November 10, 2003 – RAW: Bill Goldberg defeated Batista by disqualification when Triple H interfered with a sledgehammer.
  • November 16, 2003 – Survivor Series: Bill Goldberg used a sledgehammer to defeat Triple H dispite interference by members of Evolution.
  • November 17, 2003 – RAW: Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton defeated Bill Goldberg in a Handicap match.
  • ~~~After the match, Kane came down to chase off Evolution, and then gave Goldberg a big chokeslam from hell!
  • November 24, 2003 – RAW ROULETTE: Bill Goldberg vs Triple H (NO CONTEST) Kane ran down and chokeslammed Goldberg again!

  • December 14, 2003 – Armageddon: Triple H defeated Kane and Bill Goldberg in a triple threat to recapture the World title!
  • December 15, 2003 – RAW: Bill Goldberg beat up The Coach and La Resistance and got “deactivated” by Eric Bischoff for 30 days.
  • January 4, 2004 – Z1 Hustle-1: Bill Goldberg beat Naoya Ogawa when heel-referee suddenly recovered as Goldberg went for pin.
  • Janaury 12, 2004 – RAW: Matt Hardy returned to RAW, demanding “unique” opponents.. Bill Goldberg squashes Matt Hardy.
  • Janaury 19, 2004 – RAW: Goldberg wins a Battle Royal to capture the #30 spot in the Royal Rumble this Sunday!
  • January 25, 2004 – Royal Rumble: Goldberg entered the Rumble at #30 and eliminated Nunzio, Billy Gunn and Charlie Haas.

  • February 2, 2004 – RAW: Steve Austin gives Bill Goldberg a front row ticket to SD!’s No Way Out PPV to get closer to Brock Lesnar.
  • February 9, 2004 – RAW: Bill Goldberg accidentally spears Steve Austin, after a confrontation with Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman.
  • February 15, 2004 – No Way Out: Eddie Guerrero defeated Brock Lesnar after interference from Goldberg to win the WWE title!!!!
  • February 2004: Bill Goldberg starts shooting “Santa’s Slay” in Edmonton and will not work any WWE dates until Wrestlemania XX.
  • March 14, 2004 – Wrestlemania XX: Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar with Steve Austin as referee.
  • ~~~After the match, Steve Austin STUNNED both Goldberg and Lesnar, who are both departing the WWE after Wrestlemania!
  • March 31, 2004: Bill Goldberg has reportedly entered into negotiations with the WWE to get a new contract with the company.
