Jim McMaster wrote: My dad began wrestling professionally when he wasn’t playing professional rugby league as a prop (front-row forward) for the Leeds Rugby League Club in England (1948-52).I was born at Leeds in 1949 and mum & dad came home to Australia in early 1952. Dad played a few more seasons with Brisbane Brothers Rugby League and wrestled local and visiting overseas wrestlers until mid 1956 when he toured South Africa as a wrestler for 6 months. He came back to Australia and retired to take over the ownership of the Wallaby Hotel at Mudgeeraba in the Gold Coast hinterland. He sold the pub in 1979 and retired to Tallai, a suburb a couple of k’s outside Mudgeeraba, to concentrate on a string of trotters he’d built up. The trotters were sold off in the early 90′s. Dad suffered a heart attack and died while attending a presentation ceremony (dad was to receive his cap for his 4 Tests against the All Blacks on the 1946 tour of New Zealand) by the Australian Rugby Union at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
