Career History

The Legendary Guerrero Family

  • Eddie Guerrero is the son of the legendary Gory Guerrero and brother of Hector, Chavo and Mando and uncle of Chavo Jr..
  • Early on Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Eddie Guerrero wrestled each other during the intermissions of Gory Guerrero promoted shows

In the Beginning

  • 1987: Eddie Guerrero debuted in EMLL teaming with El Matematico against Flama Roja and El Vikingo
  • 1989: Eddie Guerrero went to the NWA where he worked as a jobber facing off against such talent as Terry Funk
  • 1992 – AAA: Eddie Guerrero and El Hijo del Santo became the new version of La Pareja Atómica (The Atomic Pair),
  • ~~~the original La Pareja Atómica was composed of the two men’s fathers, Gory Guerrero and El Santo

Eddie Guerrero and The Love Machine

  • Late 1993: Eddie Guerrero joined forces with “Love Machine” Art Barr and formed La Pareja del Terror.
  • ~~~Konnan joined Guerrero and Barr and they formed the legendary stable called “Los Gringos Locos” with several others.
  • ~~~Other wrestlers joined them: Black Cat, Madonna’s Boyfriend (Louie Spicolli), Misterioso, Chicano Power and King Lion.
  • Love Machine and Eddie Guerrero feuded extensively with El Hijo del Santo and Octagon.
  • ~~~The feud that was culminated in a hair vs. masks match in the first ever lucha libre only PPV in the United States.
  • November 6, 1994 – When Worlds Collide: El Hijo del Santo and Octagon defeated Love Machine and Eddie Guerrero.
  • ~~~As a result, Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr were shaven bald in the middle of the ring!
  • ~~~With the PPV, Eddie Guerrero gained world-wide exposure, and he was destined to stardom.
  • At this time, ECW was very interested in Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero coming into their company.
  • The plan was to have them feud with their top tag team Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge).
  • Amazingly, at the same time, WWF, WCW and New Japan also showed interest in La Pareja del Terror.
  • November 23, 1994: Art Barr was found dead at his home in Springfield, Oregon.

  • January 31, 2000: The Radicalz shocked the wrestling world by showing up on RAW sitting in the front row.
  • February 3, 2000 – SD!: The New Age Outlaws defeated Eddie Guerrero and Perry Saturn to retain the Tag Team titles.

  • November 9, 2001: Eddie Guerrero was arrested on a DUI charge near his home in Land O’Lakes, Florida.
  • November 12, 2001: Eddie Guerrero was released by the WWF to deal with his personal problems.

  • January 30, 2002 – Maryland Championship Wrestling: Adam Flash defeated Eddie Guerrero in 16:00.
  • February 23, 2002 – Ring of Honor: Super Crazy defeated Eddie Guerrero to become first IWA Intercontinental champion
  • February 24, 2002 – WWA: Eddie Guerrero defeated Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera to win the WWA International Cruiserweight title!
  • ~~~Eddie and Psicosis were upset at Juvi for showing up late to the event, resulting in poor preperation.
  • March 1, 2002 – IWA MS: Eddie Guerrero defeated CM Punk and Rey Mysterio Jr. to win the IWA MS Heavyweight title!
  • March 2, 2003 – IWA MS: CM Punk defeated Eddie Guerrero to win the IWA Mid-South World Heavyweight title.
  • March 2002: Eddie Guerrero cancelled his April tour with New Japan, so that seems to indicate he’ll be starting imminently with WWF.
  • April 27, 2002 – ROH Night of Appeciation: Eddie Guerrero and Amazing Red defeated Jose and Joel Maximo.

  • May 22, 2003 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri defeated Team Angle by disqualification to retain the WWE Tag Team titles.
  • May 29, 2003 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri defeated Team Angle by disqualification AGAIN to retain by tricking the referee.

  • October 30, 2003 – SD!: Chavo Guerrero got on Eddie’s case about letting him down lately saying he has to make it up to him.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero goes to the ring and gives a heartfelt apology, before getting attacked by the Basham Brothers!
  • November 6, 2003 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero defeated The Basham Brothers (2-on-1) to secure a title shot for Los Guerreros.
  • November 13, 2003 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero rushes home after he’s told his wife’s sister was in a car accident.
  • ~~~However, this was all a trick by the Basham Brothers and Shaniqua to get out of their title match with Los Guerreros.

  • ~~~Chavo Guerrero yells at his uncle Eddie about “not being there” when he needed his help!
  • November 27, 2003 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero beats Charlie Haas and Chavo gets attacked again and Chavo blames Eddie!
  • December 4, 2003 – SmackDown: Chavo Guerrero beat Shelton Benjamin with Eddie’s help, who Chavo accuses of stealing the spotlight!
  • December 11, 2003 – SmackDown: Los Guerreros (Eddie and Chavo) vs The World’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas).
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero separated his shoulder during the match and Charlie Haas continued to work stiff against him.
  • ~~Backstage, behind the scenes, Eddie confronted Charlie Haas, who claimed he wasn’t aware of the injury.
  • ~~Tempers flared and punches were thrown before WWE personel pulled them apart and they shook hands.
  • December 25, 2003 – SmackDown in Iraq: Eddie Guerrero defeated Chris Benoit and they shook hands after the match.

  • January 1, 2004 – SD!: Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin beat Los Guerreros (Eddie and Chavo start to have problems within).
  • ~~~After the match, Eddie and Chavo nearly came to blows until they were held apart by Kurt Angle.
  • January 8, 2004 – SD!: Kurt Angle reunites Los Guerreros and gets them a Tag Team title shot.
  • ~~~The Basham Brothers defeated Los Guerreros; after the match, Chavo brutally attacked and busted Eddie open!
  • January 15, 2004 – SD!: Chavo Guerrero Sr. shows up and tries to apoligize to Eddie Guerrero for Chavo Jr’s actions recently.
  • ~~~It turned out to be a trick, as Chavo Jr. showed up and Chavo Sr jumped Eddie from behind and issued a beat-down!
  • January 22, 2004 – SD!: Chavo Jr. and Chavo Guerrero Sr. defeated Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle in an AMAZING tag team match.
  • ~~~Eddie accidentally thumbed Kurt in the eye, and Kurt gave Eddie a blind AngleSlam! The Chavos beat on Eddie for the win!
  • January 25, 2004 – Royal Rumble: Eddie Guerrero defeated Chavo Guerrero w/Chavo Sr – After, Eddie assulted Chavo and made him bleed!

He jumped the barrier between the fans and the ring and just basically confronted the guy, basically just asking him why he felt he had to do that. He was shaken, but did not try to attack the fan, though you can tell he wanted to. I can confirm this because I was sitting 3rd row ringside and this happened right in front of me.

  • November 11, 2005 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero defeated Mr. Ken Kennedy by disqualification in a Survivor Series Qualifier Match.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero gave Mr. Ken Kennedy a chair and layed on the mat, the referee saw this and Disqualified Kennedy.
  • ~~~Mr. Kennedy was furious at being tricked, so he delivered a vicious chairshot on Eddie’s head and yelled “Disqualify THAT!”

Eddie Guerrero RIP – Viva La Raza!

  • November 13, 2005: Eddie Guerrero tragically passed away at the age of 38 as a result of reported Heart Failure [Eddie RIP FanJam].
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero arrived in Minneapolis for the scheduled combined RAW/SD! Television tapings at the Target Center.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero was staying at the Marriott City Center hotel in downtown Minneapolis.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero got an early wake-up call just after 7 a.m. and he didn’t answer.
  • ~~~Chavo Guerrero tried calling the room and also got no answer. The two had been traveling together.
  • ~~~Several people knocked on his door after numerous attemped calls went unanswered.
  • November 13, 2005 – TNA Genesis: An “In memory of Eddie Guerrero” screen was shown at the beginning of the Pay Per View.
  • November 13, 2005 – OVW House Show: The show opened up with a special 10-bell salut in honor of Eddie Guerrero’s life.
  • November 13, 2005 – IPW:UK: Vampiro gave a speech about the passing of Eddie Guerrero (who he roomed with in Mexico).
  • November 14, 2005 – RAW Eddie Tribute: The RAW and SmackDown rosters came together to pay tribute to Eddie Guerrero.

  • MSN.com included Eddie Guerrero in a list of famous people who died in 2005 as part of their Year in Review.
  • December 25, 2005: Eddie Guerrero won “Best SD! Wrestler” and “Most Inspirationa” on the 2005 OWW.com Awards.

  • Eddie Guerrero was listed as Legacy.com’s 3rd most eulogized person of 2005 behind Rosa Parks and Luther Vandross.
  • January 2006: Eddie Guerrero was honoured in his hometown of El Paso in a ceremony attended by his wife and children.

  • February 20, 2006 – RAW: They announced that Eddie Guerrero will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 1, 2006.
  • April 1, 2006: Eddie Guerrero was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Chavo Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio.
  • May 13, 2006 – Live Event (SD! crew) in El Paso, Texas: Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero paid their respects to Eddie Guerrero.
  • Mike Aldren wrote (On October 10, 2009): Chavo Guerrero did an interview with www.mondaynightmayhem.com talking about the late Eddie Guerrero, who would have turned 42 on Friday, He said: “For people who met him or if you didn’t meet him, you met him through the TV, or through other means. Eddie was a very giving person. He was not only a Christian man, but very giving. The charity I’m doing now is a charity that honors veterans and people on active duty now. And when Eddie would go to Iraq, he used to come back so elated, so full of life, so blessed because he saw people that was fighting for us and making our life better. And he was always so grateful about this.”
