He is also battling pneumonia. Hawk was best known for teaming with Swede Hanson as the Blond Bombers, and he was also a booker for Jim Crockett Promotions in the 1970s. A little known story is that he was encouraged to wrestle professionally in the late 1940s by legendary boxer Jack Dempsey. Another is that he’s the co-inventor of microwave popcorn on the cob.
