Career Highlights

In the Beginning:

  • 1984: Mark Calaway signed a four year contract to start his wrestling career with and would be given ring name Texas Red.
  • Mark Colloway’s first match (masked Texas Red) was against Bruiser Brody, who legend has it, roughed him up as a warm welcome.
  • Mark Calloway would later work under another mask as “The Punisher” and “Master of Pain”, managed by Skandor Akbar.

United States Wrestling Association:

  • April 1, 1989: Master of Pain (Mark Calloway) defeated Jerry “The King” Lawler for the USWA Unified Heavyweight title!
  • October 5, 1989: The Punisher was awarded the USWA Texas Heavyweight title by forfeit from Eric Embry.
  • Interesting Fact: Brian Lee was the best man at Mark’s wedding to Sara.

  • Late 1989: Mark Calloway arrived in World Championship Wrestling as “Mean” Mark Callous
  • Mark Calloway wrestled as “Mean” Mark Callous, a member of the Scyscrapers replacing Sid Vicious teaming with Dan Spivey.
  • February 6, 1990 – The Clash: The Skyscrapers (Spivey and Callous) defeated The Road Warriors by disqualification.
  • May 19, 1990 – Capitol Combat: Mark Callous defeated Johnny Ace.
  • June 13, 1990 – Clash of the Champions: “Mean” Mark Callous defeated Brian Pillman.

  • Mark Calloway signed with the WWF and was given the “Undertaker” gimmick, and was managed by Brother Love.
  • Mark Calloway initially worked house shows to test out the gimmick under the name “Kane the Undertaker”.
  • The Undertaker made his WWF debut at the Survivor Series 1990 along side Ted DiBiase for a Survivor Series match.
  • The “Kane the Undertaker” name was used at least once on TV after his Survivor Series debut, beyond the house shows.

  • September 7, 1991 – King of the Ring: The Undertaker vs Sid Justice ended in a Double disqualification in the Second Round.

  • November 27, 1991 – Survivor Series: The Undertaker defeated Hulk Hogan to win the WWF Heavyweight title!

  • May 23, 1992 WWF Superstars of Wrestling: The Undertaker defeated Bill Pierce.
  • June 20, 1992 WWF Superstars of Wrestling: The Undertaker defeated Duane Gill.
  • August 29, 1992 – Summerslam: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated Kamala.
  • November 24, 1992 – Survivor Series: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated Kamala in a Casket Match.
  • January 11, 1993 – RAW debut: The Undertaker defeated Damian Demento.
  • January 24, 1993 – Royal Rumble: The Undertaker entered at #15 but was eliminated by Giant Gonzales (not official participant).
  • February 22, 1993 – RAW: The Undertaker vs Skinner match was still underway when RAW went off the air.
  • April 4, 1993 – Wrestlemania: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated Giant Gonzales w/Harvey Wippleman by disqualification.
  • ~~~Giant Gonzales rendered The Undertaker unconsious with a rag soaked in Chloraform.
  • ~~~The Undertaker woke up while being stretchered out, and cleared Giant Gonzales out of the ring!.
  • July 5, 1993 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Samu.
  • August 30, 1993 – Summerslam: The Undertaker defeated Giant Gonzalez w/Harvey Wippleman to regain posession of the urn.
  • ~~~Harvey Wippleman tried to pick a fight with Paul Bearer but got knocked out cold with one punch!
  • ~~~Paul Bearer once again took posession of the urn which helped the The Undertaker recover and win the match!
  • November 24, 1993 – Survivor Series: Lex Luger and Undertaker and Steiners beat Yokozuna and Ludvig Borga and Crush and Jacques.
  • ~~~The Undertaker showed a brand new side to his character, revealing that he was a true American patriot.
  • January 22, 1994 – Royal Rumble: Yokozuna defefeated The Undertaker in a Casket match with help from a group of heel wrestlers.
  • ~~~The Undertaker was in control when an army of heels attacked him and helped subdue the Undertaker inside the Casket!
  • ~~~Yokozuna and company then began pushing the casket down the isle when the lights began to flicker and crackle.
  • ~~~The image of the Undertaker’s rotting corpse showed up on the screen and he delivered an erie promo warning of his return!

World Wrestling Federation – Feuding with the Million Dollar Corporation:

  • Summer 1994: Short video packages were shown on TV of regular people describing their Undertaker ‘sightings’.
  • ~~~Eventually Ted DiBiase appeared on television and claimed to have gained control of the Undertaker and is bringing him back!
  • ~~~Paul Bearer also showed up and claimed he had contacted the REAL Undertaker and wanted to face DiBiase’s EVIL Undertaker.
  • August 29, 1994 – Summerslam: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated The Undertaker w/Ted DiBiase.
  • ~~~Ted DiBiase brought down his Evil Undertaker – played by one of Undertaker’s “real life” friends – Brian Lee.
  • ~~~The lights began to flicker (simulating thunder and lighting) and The REAL Undertaker finally made his entrance.
  • ~~~The REAL Undertaker tombstoned The Evil Undertaker and pinned him, then rolled him into a casket!
  • September 12, 1994 – RAW: The Undertaker (The real one) defeated Kwang.
  • The Undertaker set his sights on extracting revenge on Yokozuna and began tormenting him with a casket on TV.
  • October 21, 1994 – Jacques Rougeau Retirement Show: The Undertaker defeated Yokozuna in a Casket Match.
  • November 23, 1994 – Survivor Series: The Undertaker defeated Yokozuna in a Casket Match.
  • December 26, 1994 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated The Brooklyn Brawler.
  • January 22, 1995 – Royal Rumble: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated Irwin R. Schyster w/Ted DiBiase.
  • ~~~After the match, King Kong Bundy went eye to eye with the Undertaker while IRS attacked Paul Bearer and stole the urn!
  • ~~~King Kong Bundy repeatedly splashed The Undertaker’s lifeless body.
  • April 2, 1995 – Wrestlemania 11: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated King Kong Bundy w/Ted DiBiase.
  • ~~~The Undertaker regained control of the urn but it was once again stolen, this time by Kama.
  • April 7, 1995 – SMW: The Undertaker and Tracy Smothers defeated The Gangstas and D-Lo Brown in a “Loser Salutes the Flag” match.
  • May 29, 1995 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Jeff Jarrett.
  • June 3, 1995 – WWF Superstars of Wrestling: The Undertaker defeated Tony DeVito.
  • June 25, 1995 – King of the Ring: Mabel defeated The Undertaker in the Quarter-finals when Kama interfered.
  • July 23, 1995 – In Your House: The Undertaker defeated Kama in a Casket Match in a dark match (shown on Home Video).
  • August 21, 1995 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Tatanka.
  • August 27, 1995 – Summerslam: The Undertaker defeated Kama in a Casket Match.

  • September 25, 1995 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated The British Bulldog.
  • October 9, 1995 – RAW: Yokozuna and Owen Hart and The Bulldog defeated Diesel and Shawn Michaels and Undertaker.
  • King Mabel attacked The Undertaker and smashed his face in causing Undertaker to disappear temporarily.
  • November 19, 1995 – Survivor Series: The Undertaker and HOG and Savio and Fatu defeated Mabel and HHH and Jerry Lawler and Isaac Yankem.
  • November 27, 1995 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Mo.

  • September 22, 1996 – Mind Games: The Undertaker defeated Goldust in a Final Curtain match.
  • October 20, 1996 – Buried Alive: The Undertaker defeated Mankind in a Buried Alive match.
  • ~~~After the match, a masked Executioner (played by Terry Gordy) appeared and smashed Undertaker’s head with a shovel!
  • ~~~Mankind crawled out from under the dirt and tossed Undertaker into the grave and buried him – - ALIVE!!!!!!
  • ~~~Lightning struck the tombstone and Undertaker’s hand came up from the earth just as the show came to a close.
  • November 16, 1996 – Survivor Series: The Undertaker defeated Mankind with Paul Bearer suspended in a Cage above the ring.
  • ~~~Afterwards, Paul Bearer was lowered from the Cage but the Executioner (Terry Gordy) ran in to make the save!
  • December 9, 1996 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Mankind.
  • December 15, 1996 – It’s Time: The Undertaker defeated The Executioner (Terry Gordy) in an Armageddon match.

  • April 12, 1999 – RAW: The Big Show beat Christian (Undertaker forced Christian into this match to “proove” himself).
  • ~~~Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart w/Debra beat The Acolytes by disqualification when the Ministry interfered and took Debra hostage.
  • ~~~The Undertaker threatened to sacrifice Debra, but Ken Shamrock ran down with a baseball bat and cleaned house.
  • ~~~The Undertaker told Ken Shamrock that Ryan Shamrock was in the basement, so he ran down to rescue her.
  • ~~~It was only a trap though, as The Ministry ambushed and attacked Ken Shamrock and Mankind in the basement.
  • ~~~The Ministry tried to sacrifice Ken Shamrock but The Brood disobeyed the Undertaker and the Ministry began to fight.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock called out Undertaker, but The Ministry attacked him, and Triple H and Bossman made the save…
  • ~~~Suddenly though, Triple H and Bossman attacked Ken Shamrock by orders of Shane McMahon.
  • April 19, 1999 – RAW: The Acolytes (Bradshaw and Farooq) beat The Brood (Edge and Gangrel w/Christian) by disqualification.
  • ~~~After the match, The Undertaker punished the Acolytes for “failing” to take out the Brood.
  • ~~~The Big Show beat Viscera by disqualification (Undertaker and Viscera double-teamed Big Show until Mankind made the save!)
  • ~~~Mideon showed up at WWF Headisqualificationuarters and Vince McMahon sprinted to the parking lot to attack him.

  • June 16, 2005 – SmackDown: John Bradshaw Layfield defeated The Undertaker with help from the newly drafted Randy Orton!!!
  • ~~~Randy Orton yelled at The Undertaker saying that he better get used to getting RKO’d because the Legend Killer is on SD!.
  • June 23, 2005 – SmackDown: Randy Orton bragged about RKOing The Undertaker last week only to have the Undertaker show up!
  • ~~~Randy Orton bailed out, and retreated to the stage, where he was “struck by lightning” that came down from the ceiling.
  • June 30, 2005 – SmackDown: JBL beat Christian and Undertaker and Booker T and Chris Benoit and Muhammad Hassan in a 6-WAY.
  • ~~~General Manager Theodore Long showed up and revealed that JBL had actually won #1 Contendership to Batista’s World title!
  • ~~~During the match, The Undertaker got specifically involved with Muhammad Hassan – perhaps setting up a future match.
  • July 2, 2005 – Live Event (Super Show): The Undertaker and Kane and Rey Mysterio defeated Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero and Edge.
  • July 7, 2005 – SmackDown: The Undertaker defeated Khosrow Daivari (Muhammad Hassan had convinced Daivari to be a sacrifice).
  • ~~~After the match, five unidentified masked terrorists hit the ring and attacked The Undertaker with piano wire around the neck!
  • ~~~The five masked terrorists then lifted the unconscious Daivari above their heads and carried him out as if he were a martre.
  • ~~~controversy immediately broke out, because the day of this airing, there had been terrorist bombings in London, England.
  • ~~~The tape sent out to the United Kingdom had this particular segment edited out, but it played everywhere else…
  • July 14, 2005 – SmackDown: UPN made the decision to ban Muhammad Hassan from appearing due to last week’s storyline.
  • ~~~Instead, Hassans “attorny” read a prepared statement from Hassan, but he was chokeslammed and tombstoned by Undertaker!
  • July 24, 2005 – Great American Bash: The Undertaker defeated Muhammad Hassan w/Masked Terrorists.
  • ~~~The Undertaker powerbombed Muhammad Hassan through a hole in the stage all the way down to the concrete floor.
  • ~~~The last we see of Hassan was him laying in a pool of blood – thus “killing off” the Hassan character.
  • July 28, 2005 – SmackDown: John Layfield defeated The Undertaker in a #1 Contenders match with help from Randy Orton!
  • ~~~The Undertaker had the match won when Randy Orton showed up and RKO’d Taker and JBL covered him for the win!
  • August 4, 2005 – SmackDown: Randy Orton challenged the Undertaker to a match at Summerslam and promised that he would win.

  • September 9, 2005 – SmackDown: The Ortons presented The Undertaker with $1,416 for his retirement fund but Lightning struck it!
  • September 16, 2005 – SmackDown: The Undertaker defeated Randy Orton w/Cowboy Bob Orton but not without its bizarre moments.
  • ~~~Bob Orton backed a truck down to the ring containing a casket, when it opened, Undertaker found a wax replica of himself inside!
  • September 23, 2005 – SmackDown: Randy Orton and Bob Orton presented a funeral for Undertaker with the wax dummy in the casket.
  • ~~~Half way through Randy Orton’s speech, fans began to notice the wax dummies eyes moving, so Randy Orton had a closer look.
  • ~~~Suddenly the wax dummy came to life, it was the REAL Undertaker, and grabbed Randy Orton by the throat and attacked him!
  • September 30, 2005 – SmackDown: The Undertaker defeated Cowboy Bob Orton despite constant interference from Randy Orton!
  • October 9, 2005 – No Mercy: Randy Orton and Bob Orton defeated The Undertaker in a Handicap Casket Match.

  • ~~~Lights went out, and Casket was rolled out by druids. lightning struck the Casket and The Undertaker stepped out from inside!
  • November 29, 2005 – SD! Special: The Big Show vs Rey Mysterio (who drove Eddie’s low-rider to the ring) ended in a No Contest.
  • ~~~The Big Show and Kane hit Rey Mysterio with a double-choke-slam, suddenly the Undertaker showed up to make the save!
  • ~~~Randy Orton ran down and RKO’d The Undertaker and Bob Orton smashed Taker in the head with a crowbar!
  • ~~~Randy Orton placed The Undertaker on the back of the low-rider and backed in up crashing through the SD! set!

Mike Aldren wrote (On February 22, 2010): The Undertaker got the shock of his life last night when he was engulfed in a fireball due to a pyro malfunction during his ring entrance. The TV cameras didn’t show entirely what happened but he ran down the aisle while frantically trying to remove his black leather robe. He suffered first and second degree burns on his chest and neck, and off camera as the match progressed referee’s handed him bottles of water to douse his burns. You can watch fan cell phone footage of the incident on YouTube although WWE has been working hard all day to remove them claiming copyright infringement. Backstage after the PPV, according to sources, Taker cut a promo on production crew, as he was understandably upset over the incident. He isn’t expected to miss any time.

  • September 24, 2010 – SmackDown: Kane said he destroyed Undertaker’s body on Sunday and now he will destroy his legend and soul.
  • ~~~Kane challenged Undertaker to a Hell in a Cell match (a casket was rolled down to the ring and Paul Bearer popped out with an urn!)
  • ~~~The lights went out and Taker appeared behind Kane.. Kane retreated and freaked out at the return of his father in Taker’s corner.
  • October 1, 2010 – SmackDown: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer defeated C.M. Punk in a squash match with the Tombstone Piledriver.
  • ~~~Later that night, the Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) showed up and over-powered Kane – causing the big red machine to run away!
  • October 3, 2010 – Hell in a Cell: Kane defeated The Undertaker in a brutal Hell in a Cell match to retain the World Heavyweight title.
  • ~~~Manager Paul Bearer turned on the Undertaker, shining a light in his eyes, and helping his son Kane successfully defend his title!
