The Impact (11/19) Insight
Our resident philosopher looks at the post-Turning Point edition of TNA.

The fallout from Turning Point was almost nuclear. Plus, TNA rolled closer to the arrival of Hulk Hogan in the Impact Zone. Most stars gave their feedback, one of which provided a rather cryptic clue about the future.

This Week’s Episode: Burn, Baby Burn

The show opened with a look back at Turning Point. It turned out to be a pretty good show, despite no title changes.

Mike Tenay profiled the main event and then sent it to the ring. Mick Foley and Abyss came out to a huge pop. Tenay talked about Raven returning last week and throwing a fireball into Foley’s face. Foley’s left eye was bandaged. Foley said that almost losing his sight opened his eyes. Foley complained that Dixie Carter didn’t inform him about Hulk Hogan coming to TNA. Foley wondered if he was still valued in TNA. Foley said Carter won’t return his calls and he even had to show his ID to get into the Impact Zone. Abyss tried to calm Foley down and get him back on topic…Dr. Stevie and Raven. Foley started griping about Raven preventing him and Abyss from getting rid of Dr. Stevie. Foley said he was ready to exact revenge. Abyss tried to talk Foley out of it. Foley said Raven and Dr. Stevie were playing with fire.

Out comes Dr. Stevie, Raven and Daffney. Stevie got in all kinds of fire-related puns about Foley looking all hot and bothered. Stevie said he had to answered the challenge of Foley to eliminate him. Stevie compared himself to a cornered, rabid animal. Stevie said “they” would end things. Raven then took over and said he was disappointed with Foley. Raven said Foley was more interested in politics, than fighting. Raven taunted Foley’s authority (great Cartman impression). Raven and Foley got into a war of words, with Foley making a match between himself and Abyss against Raven and Stevie. Taz felt Raven had just “played” Foley.

Tenay and Taz really pushed how great Turning Point was. Tenay then talked about Sting’s press conference. Tenay said it turned into something unexpected. In the back, JB talked with Kurt Angle and A.J. Styles. JB mentioned that both Desmond Wolfe and Daniels both stated that they were not pinned on Sunday. Styles said he would throw out his friendship with Daniels, if he had to. Styles and Daniels would face off in the next PPV. Angle then talked about facing Wolfe. Angle then wanted to know why Daniels got a title shot at Final Resolution, instead of him. Styles said he looked forward to fighting Kurt but he needed to finish things with Daniels. Styles told Kurt he would face him, anytime. The two had a long staredown but nothing came of it.

Scott Steiner came out to the screaming sirens. TNA looked at the situation between Steiner and Bobby Lashley. Steiner blasted Lashley in the head with a piece of steel to take the match. Amazing Red and Don West then came out. West was now wearing a glow-in-the-dark red shirt. West was giving a major pep talk to the X-Division champ, Red.

Amazing Red d Scott Steiner (by DQ)
Non-Title Match

The Finish:

Steiner lifted Red and Press Slammed Red. Steiner dropped Red and then picked him back up. Steiner hit a Clothesline off the Irish Whip. He dropped the Elbow but did Push-ups, instead of taking the pin. Steiner with the Rolling Belly to Belly Suplex. West screamed at Steiner. Scoot with a Stall Suplex into a Brain Buster. Steiner went out and got the steel pipe. The ref warned Steiner, but it didn’t do any good. Steiner popped Red with the pipe. He then put the belt across Red’s face and punched it into Red’s face. Bobby Lashley ran out to make the save. Steiner screamed at Lashley, from the floor.

Grade: C+

Jay’s Thoughts: What the Hell was that? Red is the top guy in the X-Division and he’s used as a way to help push a mediocre feud? Bad, Sport, real bad. Somebody really needs to get TNA new writers, seriously.

JB then talked with Kevin Nash and Eric Young. At the PPV, Nash bashed James Storm in the head with the Global title. Nah handed the Global belt back to E.Y. Nash said Eric was able to out-think him, the smartest man in the business. Nash compared Eric to Scott Hall (kinda). Nash offered Eric the opportunity to tag with him. Nash wanted to know if Eric had a problem with Nash being an American. Eric didn’t. Nash said he would have answers for Mick Foley by the end of the night.

The next match was an 8-man tag. Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley came out in new gear. Tenay teased a return of the nWo. Beer Money, Inc (James Storm and Robert Roode) then came out to join the Motor City Machine Guns. Their opponents were: Kiyoshi, Sheik Abdul Bashir, Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams

Beer Money, Inc. and The Motor City Machine Guns d World Elite
Eight-Man Tag Match

The Finish:

Shelley spun to his feet and they exchanged Knife Edge Chops as the Impact Zoners “Woo’d” in unison. Kiyoshi with a Thrust Kick to Shelley’s throat. Kiyoshi rushed at Shelley, in the corner. Shelley grabbed Kiyoshi and dragged him down, face first, into the middle turnbuckle. Shelley rushed to the corner and brought Sabin back into the match. Kiyoshi tagged out to Magnus. Sabin caught Magnus with kicks to the ribs that sounded like a shotgun blast. Sabin swept the leg of Brutus and then kicked him in the chest. Magnus went to the corner but Sabin bounced off the opposite turnbuckle to get a good running start. He threw a Flying Fore-arm that rocked the Brit. Sabin screamed out and then caught Magnus with a Springboard Clothesline. The rest of the World Elite came in to make the save. The match broke down as everyone went to the floor. Beer Money lifted Bashir and ran his crotch into the ring post. (Every man watching just cringed, including me). In the ring, the Guns double teamed Magnus with a Step-up Dropkick. Beer Money Double Suplexed Kiyoshi on the ramp. Beer Money got in Eric’s face as another ref tried to hold them back. In the ring, Big Rob Terry came in to try and aid his British Invasion partners. He accidentally Clotheslined his own partner, Brutus Magnus. The Guns then hit a Double Kick to the face. Sabin locked in a Neckbreaker and Shelley hit a Flying Crossbody to take out Magnus.

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts: Some Williams and Roode basically get the night off? Their involvement in this one was minimal. The match was still great. I smell a face turn for “Big” Rob in the near future. Throw him in with Hernandez, D’Angelo Dinero and Matt Morgan as “Future Shock”.

Eric read the riot act to “Big” Rob Terry. Backstage, Mick Foley was searching for Kevin Nash.

Foley said to Nash that he was “Hogan’s Boy”. Nash was offended as being called a boy. Foley wanted to know what Hogan was up to. Nash said it was all about business. Nash was upset about getting a two-week suspension. Nash said if Foley could get him his money back, he’d have answers. Nash then left Foley with the cryptic…”When Hulk comes back, he’s not coming alone”. Hmmm…

Jay’s Thoughts: Could there be an nWo reunion? Could Nash be just talking about Bischoff? Will Batman escape the Joker’s latest dastardly joke? Oops…sorry. Anyway, I love when wrestlers get all cryptic.

TNA then went to a video package about Hogan joining with TNA. Hogan said the wrestling world would be turned upside down.

Abyss begged Foley to listen to him. Abyss was concerned about Foley’s eye. Abyss said that there was no jobs for blind wrestlers. (Well, George Weingroff did make a decent living in the old World Class days). Foley made it into a joke about becoming a ref. Abyss tried to get JB to talk sense into Foley. Foley then snapped and said none of this was funny. Foley said he needed to do what he needed to do. Abyss talked about all the years of pain endured and issued. Abyss said Foley was in no shape to fight. Foley appreciated Abyss’ concern but Foley felt the need to make the decision. Abyss accepted it but didn’t like it. Foley then whined about being kept out of the loop by Dixie Carter about Hogan. Foley skirted around my favorite quote of all time:

“When you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” — “Freewill” by Rush

Back to the Impact Zone for a Knockout match. Hamada made her way into the ring. She flipped into the ring as the fans cheered her. her opponent was Taylor Wilde.

Hamada d Taylor Wilde

The Finish:

Wilde kicked out of the pin and flipped out of a Belly to Back Suplex. Wilde did the Gail Kim RopeWalk/Arm Drag combo. Wilde with a Roundhouse Kick to Hamada’s face. Hamada nailed a Close Quarters Superkick. Hamada hit the Moonsault but only got a two. Hamada tried, twice, for a Powerbomb. On the second attempt, Wilde turned it into a Roll-up. She only got a two. Wilde used a Crucifix Backslide for a two count. Wilde with a Flying Headscissors into an Inverted Victory Roll for another two. Hamada rocked Wilde with an Enziguri. Hamada tried for the infamous Hamada Driver but Wilde Floated Over. Wilde tried for a German Suplex but Hamada blocked it. Hamada hit a Jumping Roundhouse Kick to the face and finished off Wilde with the Hamada Driver.

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts: Somebody call the WWE, there are women who can actually wrestle. These two put on a heck of an outing in this short little battle. I want to see more of this. I wish Hamada would bring in a partner from Japan and go after the tag belts.

Abyss flipped Foley’s desk over to block the door so Foley couldn’t go to the ring. Dr. Stevie, Raven and Daffney walked backstage.

TNA ran another video piece of Hogan touting how much TNA is going to explode now that he’s joined the team.

Raven and Dr. Stevie strolled to the ring. Daffney was left in the back, darn it. Abyss’ music then rang out. The Monster walked out alone for the battle. Abyss cleared the ring of his foes. Foley’s music then went off. Foley didn’t arrive for the battle.

Abyss d Raven and Dr. Stevie (DQ)
Handicap Match

The Finish:

Dr. Stevie got Abyss in the ring and pounded away. Raven took the tag and kicked and punched Abyss. Stevie tagged in and they double teamed him. Abyss was choked on the ropes by both opponents. Raven and Stevie took turns pounding on Abyss’ back. That seemed to fire up the Monster, as he started punching away at both men. Abyss Power Whipped Raven into Dr. Stevie, in the corner. Abyss Splashed both of them and went for the Double Goozle. Raven and Dr. Stevie kicked their way free and sent Abyss to the ropes. Abyss managed to Clothesline Raven. Stevie went for the StevieKick but Abyss caught the foot. He hoisted Dr. Stevie into position and delivered a little Shock Treatment. Raven jumped Abyss before Abyss could make the pin. Raven went into his pocket for something. Raven was setting for another Fireball but Abyss Big Booted Raven. The ref, for some odd reason, called for the bell and gave the DQ win to Abyss. Huh?

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: While I’m glad to see Abyss getting some air time, I think this is not a good move for The Monster. He’s completely out of any title picture and he’s fighting two men who are nearing the end of their careers. The only good thing is we get to see Daffney.

After the match, Abyss attacked Raven on the floor. The two threw punches until Dr. Stevie jumped Abyss from behind. Daffney then came out. Raven hit the Evenflow DDT. Dr. Stevie had a heavy duty cable. Raven used it, over the ropes, to hang Abyss.

ODB presented her talk show…Trash Talking. She brought out her guest…Homicide. He brought her a bottle of tequila. ODB brought up “The Skull Guy”, Suicide. Homicide made fun of Suicide’s look, under the mask. Homicide wanted to get rowdy with ODB and make the show “mature”. They stared dancing around, acting a fool.

Jay’s Thoughts: When will these wrestling companies understand that these talk segments are a complete and total waste of air time?

Tomko returned to TNA! Lauren talked with him. He wanted to show Dixie Carter how good he could be. When he walked off, The Beautiful People came out to make fun of Lauren’s announcing skills. It was one of the lamest segments in TNA history. Yawn.

A.J. Styles pushed Hogan’s arrival as a positive change for TNA. Styles wanted to ask Hogan so many questions to learn from The Hulkster.

Alissa Flash came out for the next match. I’m glad she ditched that hood she wore as Raisha Saeed. Flash is actually a very beautiful woman. TNA looked at Flash’s attack on the birth defected arm of Traci Brooks, last week. Flash’s opponent was the other half of the Knockout tag champs, Sarita.
Sarita d Alissa Flash

The Finish:

Flash hit a Fore-arm Smash and then choked Sarita with the boot. Sarita fought back and caught Flash with a great Over-head Suplex. Sarita and Flash went back and forth with Roundhouse Kicks. Sarita ducked a Clothesline and then dropped Flash with a Springboard Dropkick that was too sweet for words. Sarita tried for a Butterfly Back Suplex but Flash powered out. Flash hit an amazing Belly to Back Suplex with a remarkable hang time. Sarita kicked out and Flash just couldn’t believe it. Flash went for a Scoop Slam and another Belly to Back Suplex, both of which were blocked. Sarita with the Inverted Small Package for a two. Sarita caught Flash with an Enziguri-like Mule Kick that knocked Flash out cold.

Grade: B+

After the battle, Traci Brooks came out and tore into Alissa Flash. Security broke it up. In the back, Foley screamed for Raven and Dr. Stevie. They ambushed him and choked him with the cable. They taunted Foley as he gasped for air. They even through out the “Have a nice day” catchphrase at him. TNA went to break.

Jay’s Thoughts: Another decent Knockout match? TNA must be getting ready to launch that all-Knockout show that was rumored. TNA really needs to scout Mexico and Japan to find some fresh female talent.

Team 3D and Rhino came out for a six-man Street Fight. The ring was surrounded by “toys”. Their opponents were D’Angelo Dinero, Matt Morgan and Hernandez.

Brother Ray, Brother Devon and Rhino d Hernandez, Matt Morgan and D’Angelo Dinero

Six-Man Street Fight

The Finish:

Dinero and Ray ended up fighting on the ropes. In the ring. Morgan whipped Devon too the corner. Morgan with a Corner Clothesline. Morgan then put a trash can over Devon’s head and nailed the See-Saw Back Elbows into the can. Morgan with another Corner Splash. Morgan couldn’t get the pin. Morgan and Devon went to the floor. Rhino and Hernandez got in the ring and Rhino hit a Corner Shoulder Thrust. Hernandez kicked him away and rolled up the turnbuckles. Rhino and Hernandez fought on the ropes. Hernandez shoved Rhino down to the canvas. Dinero placed a cookie sheet on Rhino’s chest and Hernandez hit a Sky-High Splash. Rhino was able to get free. ray jumped Hernandez and Scoop Slammed him. Ray called for the Wazzup! Dinero used a kendo stick to stop it. Dinero walloped both of Team 3D, over and over. Devon was Rocker Launched off the ropes by Morgan. Dinero then hit a Savage Elbow off the ropes…into the nether regions of Devon. That just wasn’t right…I don’t care who you are.

Dinero called for Morgan and Hernandez to “Get the Tables!” Morgan and Ray fought on the floor. Dinero clubbed Devon with the can lids. Morgan went for a Legdrop off the apron but Ray moved. Morgan crashed through the table. Team 3D caught Dinero with the 3D. Hernandez hit the Slingshot Double Clothesline. Hernandez went to Border Toss Rhino but saw Devon with a chair. Hernandez released Rhino and punched the chair into Devon’s face. Hernandez Speared Rhino but the ref was pulled out of the ring. Jesse Neal then slid into the ring and busted Hernandez in the head with a chair shot. Jesse had a new Mohawk haircut and all kinds of tribal ink on his chest and arms.

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts: So, Jesse Neal now looks like a cheap imitation of Shannon Moore and has kind of a Mad Max mentality thing going? That beats the heck out of the flag-waving, all-American hero gimmick that made me want to hurl day-glo.

JB talked with the victors of the last match. Rhino welcomed Jesse to “The Cause”. Jesse didn’t like being touched. Ray said Jesse’s new look and attitude came from training with them. He called Jesse a “B.M.F”. Out of respect to our younger readers, I won’t go into what that stands for. Ray said that Jesse was part of the new Hardcore Wrecking Crew. Jesse said he would become the best. Devon said the Hardcore Wrecking Crew would eliminate Dinero, Morgan and Hernandez from TNA. Testify.

Tenay mentioned about the scheduled interview with Sting. Sting now lives in the Dallas area. Sting “No-Showed” for the interview.

Lauren talked with Wolfe and Daniels. Lauren wanted to know if Daniels and Wolfe could get along. Wolfe had a lot of respect for Daniels. Wolfe claimed Kurt used an illegal submission move on Sunday. Daniels wanted Lauren to announce that it was the first time (in TNA) that Wolfe and Daniels had teamed. Daniels said Styles could not beat him. Daniels was determined to prove to Styles that he was worthy of a solo title shot. They headed towards the ring for the main event as TNA went to break.

Daniels and Wolfe came out for the main event. I hear there is another Feast or Fired match in the near future. Daniels should be worried. Kurt then rose from the depths of the Impact Zone. Kurt got a huge cheer and an “An-gle” chant from the crowd. Kurt was in his new ring outfit. Styles then came out through the shower of sparks.

Daniels and Desmond Wolfe d Kurt Angle and A.J. Styles

The Finish:

Daniels took the tag and hit an Inverted Arm Drag on Kurt. Daniels tried to rip Kurt’s arm out of the socket. Wolfe tagged back in and nailed a Trapped Arm Suplex. Kurt began to fight back but Wolfe used a Power Spin Yank to send Kurt crashing to the canvas. Daniels came back in and pounded on the shoulder. Kurt caught Daniels with the Snap Belly to Belly Overhead Suplex. Kurt crawled to his corner for the hot tag. Wolfe also took the tag on his side. Styles dropped Wolfe with Running Fore-arms and Back Elbows. Styles caught Wolfe off the ropes with an Spicoli Driver into a Backbreaker. Wow. Styles set for the Styles Clash but Wolfe powered out. Styles caught Wolfe with the Pele Kick. Styles went to the top rope but Daniels tripped him. Wolfe used a Tower of London (Rope-Assisted Stunner from the top rope). Styles, somehow, kicked out at two. Angle rushed in and charged at Wolfe. Wolfe made a passing tag to Daniels on his way out of the ring. Daniels hit the B.M.E to beat A.J. Styles!

Grade: A+

Jay’s Thoughts: TNA got it right with these four. Daniels plays the poor little ol’ me role to a T. Wolfe lost at Turning Point but still looks promisiong. Styles is ready to face off in a “former best friends” feud with Daniels. Someone definitely earned their Christmas Bonus when they decided to set these match-ups.

Final Grade: B+

Final Thoughts: TNA is in flux. The Hogan thing will either make or break TNA. TNA is building some interesting feuds that could culminate in the revirth of the nWo or something similar. This week’s show was definitely above average.

ECW (11/17) Extreme Exam
Our resident philosopher looks at a Homecoming edition of ECW

It was a reunion show, on many levels, this week. ECW came from the home of Extreme, Philadelphia. Also, a former top star in ECW returned home for a one-night stand. In addition, Paul Burchill put his and his sisters’ careers on the line against the mask of The Hurricane.

This Week’s Episode: Sometimes you Can go home again.

C.M. Punk stepped in front of the ECW logo. He got a monster boo from the crowd. Punk talked about getting his start in ECW before becoming a three-time World champion. Punk expected a long, loud standing ovation, the loudest in ECW history. Don’t hold your breath, kid.

The main event was announced: C.M Punk and William Regal v Christian and R-Truth. After that, Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes walked out together. Rosa and Zack took their own microphones. Zack wanted to introduce the newest Diva, Rosa. Zack just oozed about how great Rosa was. Rosa then went onto a bizarre shopping story that bored everyone, even Zack. Zack wanted Rosa in his corner for his rematch against Shelton Benjamin. Rosa went on another rambling story about Mexican food. Jeez.

Shelton Benjamin then came out to shut the Latina Loudmouth’s weird ramblings. Shelton said he would rather put Zack in the corner and wrestle Rosa. Zack got ticked off. Shelton told Zack he should change his name to “Black and Decker” because he was nothing more than a power tool. Oh, snap. Zack said he didn’t want to fight Shelton, right now. Zack said not to disrespect his girl. Zack then popped Zack and he and Rosa left the ring. Shelton grinned at Zack. Zack better be really worried.

Paul Burchill came out with his sister, Katie Lea Burchill. It was Mask v Career in this battle. Katie looked nervous. ECW ran Hurricane’s great intro. The Emerald Knight emerged from the darkness to bring his brand of justice to the ring.

The Hurricane d Paul Burchill
Mask v Career Match

The Finish:

The two started throwing hard fists. Paul with a kick to the ribs and a bounce off the ropes. Hurricane caught him with the Hurri-Press (Thesz Press). Paul reversed an Irish Whip but took a Back Elbow to the kisser. Hurricane whipped Paul to the corner and then came off the ropes with a Flying Clothesline. Hurricane could only get a two count. Hurricane tried for his Eye of the Hurricane finisher but Paul powered out and hit a off-center Pele Kick. hurricane barely kicked out and Paul screamed in frustration. Hurricane tried, again, for the Eye of the Hurricane but Paul twisted around into a Northern Lights Bridging Suplex for a two plus. Paul called for Katie Lea to help him. Paul sent Hurricane to the corner but got blasted as he charged in. Hurricane mounted the ropes for a Hurancanrana. Paul still kicked out at two. Katie Lea distracted Hurricane, which allowed Paul to shove the masked man into the corner. Paul Jack Hammered Hurricane to the canvas but only got a two count. Paul just couldn’t believe it. Paul set for the Dangerous Buster but Hurricane Floated Over. Hurricane unleashed the Eye of the Hurricane but couldn’t make the pin. When he did, Paul kicked out. Hurricane went to the top rope but got caught. Paul punched away and then climbed the ropes, screaming “I Got Him!”. Hurricane blocked Paul and then hit a Top Rope Flying, Spinning Neckbreaker!

Grade: A

Katie Lea was in total shock as the reality sunk in about her having to leave ECW, along with her brother. Katie seethed at her sibling. The crowd stated singing “Nah Nah Nah Nah Hey Hey Good-bye”. Katie Lea cried as Paul told her that he was sorry.

Jay’s Thoughts: I can only hope that The Burchills get to move over to Raw. Smackdown may have won the honor of being the Top Brand at Bragging Rights, but it still feels like a B-level show. Katie Lea deserves a chance to do something other than play valet to her “brother”.

In the back, Tiffany talked with C.M. Punk. Punk criticized Tiffany for her drinking. Tiffany said she wasn’t a prude. Tiffany told Punk to loosen up and try being a human being. Punk was not impressed.

Lance…sorry…Vance Archer came out for another squash. This week’s victim was Johnny Andrews.

Vance Archer d Johnny Andrews

Vance slapped the taste out of his victim’s mouth and then Power Whipped him into the corner. Vance shoved Johnny into the ring post. Vance slid out of the ring and kicked at Johnny. Vance got back in the ring and punched away at his opponent. Vance hit his version of a Spinning Face Plant. Vance then finished off his poor foe with the Inverted Power Driver DDT.

Grade: C

Jay’s Thoughts: Vance is going to end up in mid-card Hell, I just know it. He just doesn’t have the right feel to become a top star in the WWE. He’ll likely be back in TNA before Wrestlemania.

Josh Mathews and Byron Saxton talked about Survivor Series. Byron pushed how unpredictable the yearly PPV always is. They then ran down the card.

Christian was lacing up his boots when Punk showed up. They talked about both holding the ECW title. Christian wanted to know if Punk was allowed to hold hands with a girl. Christian said Punk wasn’t straight-edged, he was a nerd. Punk got upset at the insult. Punk bragged about being a three-time World champion. Christian reminded Punk that Punk was a champion, while Christian still was. ECW went to break.

Josh sent it to another look at the relationship between the WWE and MSG (Madison Square Garden).

C.M. Punk came out for the main event. He got a less than warm reaction from the Philly crowd. He was joined by his partner, William Regal. It seems strange to see him team with Regal, considering Regal’s past Wellness Program issues. I’m just saying… The two shook hands as Christian’s theme rang out. Christian showed respect to his title by actually wearing the strap. He was joined by the rapmaster of the WWE, R-Truth.

William Regal and C.M. Punk d Christian and R-Truth

The Finish:

Christian tagged in and went to town on Punk. Christian came off the ropes with a Fore-arm Smash and then ran Punk into the corner. Christian nailed the Tornado DDT. Christian turned to pop Regal. Christian with the Morningstar. Christian tried for the KillSwitch, which Punk reversed into a Go-To-Sleep attempt. Christian got free from that and tried for the KillSwitch, again. Punk powered out and shoved Christian to the corner. Punk hit the Elevator Knee on the ECW Champ. Punk tried for the Running Bulldog but Christian stopped and hit the Slop Drop. Regal prevented the pin. R-Truth rushed in and took out Regal with fists and a Dropkick. Christian went for the KillSwitch but Regal nailed a Knee Trembler on the trapped Christian. Punk connected with the GTS to take the win for his team.

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts: Could Punk be heading “home” to ECW? Punk v Christian for the ECW title would definitely raise the interest of fans. Punk would have to see that as a backwards step. ECW really needs a revamping of the top stars. WWE should maybe consider a bi-annual Draft.

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: The Burchills are gone. Sheamus is gone. Tyler Reks hasn’t been seen in months on the Black Brand. The WWE couldn’t try harder to kill ECW if they used a machine gun. I really think it’s time for ECW to combine with FCW. When Superstars gets a bigger push than ECW, something is seriously wrong. ECW is turning into a serious joke, which is sad for the poor guys who are doing their best to make the program work.

My Turning Point 2009 Predictions
Our resident philosopher breaks out his crystal ball, tea leaves and lucky coin to try and decipher and predict the outcomes and future ramifications of this minor Pay Per View

TNA is back with another PPV offering. This one is not even in the same ballpark as their spectacular Bound For Glory show. This second-rate effort is going to throw a lot of nowhere feuds and pretend threats to championships at the fans. I’m not impressed, as you will be able to tell as you read on.

Team 3D & Rhino v Matt Morgan, Hernandez and D’Angelo Dinero

Backstory: Ok, Rhino gets all paranoid and thinks “they” are out to get him. With his recent string of losses, he might be right. Anyway, he’s now convinced Brother Ray and Brother Devon that they are next on the victim list. Team 3D were battling Hernandez and Morgan, when Ray blith-whapped his opponents with a chair. Ray now suddenly buys all Rhino’s baloney and wants to protect himself from the “evil ones”. Speaking of “evil ones”, D’Angelo Dinero, who was off for a family emergency, is back. This time, he joins the yound studs to battle the old guard.

Predictions: My biggest question is: What the heck is Dinero doing on the face side of this one? He comes into TNA as a replacement for Ron Killings, basically, and gets thrown into a decent heel role. He has some kind of emergency and suddenly he’s the face savior. I can only imagine that Suicide is going to turn heel. Speaking of Suicide, I noticed that he’s not on the card, anywhere. To keep the conspiracy theory going, Team 3D and Rhino really need to lose this one. I see the ending as Rhino goes for a Gore! but missed. Dinero then catches Rhino with the D-D-E to take the win.

Predicted Winners: D’Angelo Dinero, Hernandez and Matt Morgan
Predicted Grade: B-

Bobby Lashley v. Scott Steiner

Backstory: Steiner takes a liking to Bobby’s better half and the war is on. That’s pretty much what the tired re-used-a-million-times feud is all about. Just like Rude/Roberts, Flair/Precious and probably a dozen more, Lashley is defending the honor of his family against the lustful Steiner. Oh, Puh-leeze!

Predictions: This is definitely the Beer Run match of the night. This feud was given absolutely no time to build before the near-sighted writers decided to run with a major battle. This is definitiely a no-win situation. If Steiner loses, the feud is dead in teh water. If Lashley loses, it kills any momentum that he had. I just have to think that TNA will go with the smart move and have Lashley destroy Steiner. Lashley could then move another step up the ladder and Steiner could fade into retirement (or join Booker T over in McMahon-Land).

Predicted Winner: Bobby Lashley
Predicted Grade: D

The British Invasion v Beer Money Inc. v The Motor City Machine Guns
TNA World Tag Title Triple Threat Match

Backstory: The Motor City Machine Guns won this title shot at Bound For Glory. Beer Money won their way into the mix with a win on Thursday’s Impact. The Brits took the straps at Bound For Glory and then got themselves suspended for smacking as ref to keep their belts in a match against Beer Money on Impact.

Predictions: This one seems rather complicated but I don’t think it’s going to turn out that way. With Beer Money beating the odds to earn this shot, common sense says they will take the belts. I don’t think so. I’m going with the Guns to take the straps. This could play into the whole Team 3D comspiracy thing and lead to a few really decent matches between the two teams.

Predicted Winners: Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley (New Champions)
Predicted Grade: A

Tara v Awesome Kong
Six Sides of Steel Cage Match

Backstory: Tara, the former Victoria, showed up in TNA a few months back. She immediately set her sights on the top woman in the company, Kong. Kong tried to squash Tara’s pet spider, Poison. Kong has recently disposed of her long-time handler, This latest match is going to be inside the six-sided steel cage.

Prediction: This match means absolutely nothing, since neither woman holds the Knockout belt. If Kong were to hold the belt, I’d give it to Tara. If Tara held it, Kong would win. There is just no way in Heaven or Hell that Tara will get Kong up into the Widow’s Peak. That neutralizes her biggest weapon. The only way I see Tara winning this one is if Raisha Saeed gets involved. Otherwise, Kong hits the Implant Buster and takes the win.

Predicted Winner: Awesome Kong
Predicted Grade: A-

The Amazing Red v Homicide
X-Division Title Match

Backstory: Red pulled off a huge upset when he defeated Samoa Joe for the X-Division title. He did have a little help from Bobby Lashley. Homicide has turned back into his old street thug character after joining the World Elite. He has mugged Red’s promoter, Don West, and raided Mick Foley’s office to steal the barbed wire bat.

Prediction: TNA has so much more that they can do with a Red X-Division title reign. I can’t imagine that they would end his first-ever reign so quickly. This match should be a warp speed affair with tons of high-risk moves and near falls. I’m expecting Homicide to get frustrated and attack either Red, the ref or both. Red gets busted open but keeps the straps, thanks to the DQ.

Predicted Winner: Amazing Red (by DQ)
Predicted Grade: A

ODB and Taylor Wilde and Sarita v The Beautiful People
All Knockout Titles on the Line Match

Backstory: Kong took her first Knockout title from her former beau, Cody Deaner. Sarita and Taylor Wilde won a tournament to become the first Knockout tag team champions. In this upcoming match, both the Knockout singles and tag belts are on the line.

Prediction: This has been billed as an All-or-Nothing match. If any of the Beautiful People were to take the pin, all the belts would go to Von Erich, Sky and Rayne. If that stands, then the straps will stay put and there will be chaos inside the Beautiful People. If they change it to where each champion is individually defended, then the Beuatiful People will take the tag belts and ODB keeps her title. I wish Lacey would take the singles title but she’s not ready. The other two Beautiful People aren’t strong enough to hold the singles title. I’m going to say that the titles will not change hands. I’m expecting ODB to take the win, which will set ODB v Lacey in the near future.

Predicted Winners: ODB, Taylor Wilde and Sarita
Predicted Grade: B

Kurt Angle v Desmond Wolfe

Backstory: The Main Event Mafia is gone. Booker T has left the company. Steiner has gone after Bobby Lashley. Nash is doing…well…something. In the middle of all this chaos, Desmond Wolfe (the former Nigel McGuiness) has arrived in TNA to eliminate Kurt and take his place. Wolfe has attacked Kurt, several times. So far, Wolfe has dominated.

Prediction: TNA is trying to push Wolfe to the top too fast. If Wolfe truly destroys Kurt, as he claims he will do, Kurt might as well join Booker T back in WWE. If Wolfe really gets trashed, he will be effectively useless as a top heel. The only way that this won’t weaken the company is if neither man is dominate. Expect a double DQ in this wild and wooly battle.

Predicted Winner: Double DQ
Predicted Grade: B+

A.J. Styles v Samoa Joe v Daniels
TNA World Championship Match

Backstory: These three met several years ago in a stellar match. Styles has been attacked, several times, recently. It looked like it might be Daniels. There was another masked man who jumped A.J. while Daniels and Samoa Joe were in the ring. Styles slapped his long-time friend on the most recent edition of Impact, when Daniels came to the ring during a match between Joe and Styles. Joe was able to lock in the Kokina Clutch to take the non-title win.

Prediction: The unknown masked man is the key to this bout. Since it does not appear that Daniels was behind the attack, taht leaves two options: another contender to Styles or a new member of Joe’s Nation of Violence. I think the mystery person (possibly the former Mr. Kennedy) will show up to attack Styles. It’s possible the mystery man might be Sting but I don’t think TNA would risk turning Sting heel. If the name “Black Scorpion” or something similar comes out, it’s him. No matter what happens on Sunday, Styles will go home with the gold

Predicted Winner: A.J. Styles
Predicted Grade: A-

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: TNA will play safe with this PPV. Don’t expect Hogan to show up or any major title changes, other than the tag belts. With Survivor Series coming a week after this, many fans will save their pennies for one of the WWE’s Big Four. This PPV won’t try to over-power that show, even if it could. It will be a decent PPV but nothing substantial.

TTNA Impact (11/12) Insight
Our resident philosopher looks at the lead-in to Turning Point edition of Impact

TNA was filled with Legends, this week, including Super Dave Osborne. Dr. Stevie and Daffney put their careers on the line in this lead-in to Sunday’s Pay Per View. Also, the final pieces of the puzzle were cemented into place for Turning Point 2009.

The show opened with a recap of the Hulk Hogan/Dixie Carter alliance. Dixie told the roster to either follow her or leave. TNA hinted about major changes that were coming to TNA.

This Week’s Episode: Three’s A Crowd

In Mick Foley’s office, Mick talked with Super Dave Osborne about SDO’s new show on Spike. Foley also pushed him upcoming book (summer 2010). Dave was allowed to book one match. Dave wanted to book a couple matches but Mick wouldn’t give in. Mick gave Dave his office chair. Jay Lethal stormed in to talk to Mick, only to find Super Dave. Jay recognized him as his alter-ego, Marty Funkhauser. Jay wanted to know who he was facing. Jay called for Hogan. After Jay left, Super Dave and JB got into a discussion about twittering. Super Dave, like me, prefers the phone to twittering and texting. Just ask my grandsons. (smile)

Mick Foley came out to join the announce team for the opening match. Mike Tenay and Taz brought up that Mick was unaware of the relationship between Dixie and Hulk, at first. Tenay mentioned that Foley wasn’t at the big TNA company meeting, last week. Taz questioned Foley about his ignorance of Hogan coming to the company. Before Foley could answer, Dr. Stevie’s music echoed off the Impact Zone. The Zombie Hot, Daffney, walked out wearing a tiny, green, sparkly top hat. The Monster, Abyss, then stormed to the ring.

Dr. Stevie d Abyss
Career Threatening Match (if Dr. Stevie loses, he’s gone from TNA)

Abyss caught Stevie with a huge boot to the face. Both Abyss and Stevie missed Corner Splashes and Abyss rolled up Stevie for a two. Abyss lifted Stevie for a little Shock Treatment. Abyss didn’t get to pull the switch because Stevie went to Abyss’ eyes. Stevie came off the ropes and clipped the knee of Abyss. Stevie stomped on the injured knee. Stevie tried, several times, to pin Abyss. Abyss kicked out. Speaking of kicks, Stevie hit the Big Stevie Kick on Abyss. Stevie couldn’t get the pin. Abyss with the Goozle but Stevie kicked the bad knee of Abyss to get free. Abyss caught Stevie with the Black Hole Slam. Suddenly, the lights went out in the Impact Zone. When they came back on, Abyss was laid out. Stevie crawled onto Abyss to take the pin. Huh?

Grade: B-

Dr. Stevie taunted Abyss as Daffney slid a chair into the ring. Foley left the announce table to help Abyss. Foley was pounding on Stevie and checked on Abyss. The lights went out a second time. There was a fireball, thrown by…RAVEN! Raven hit the Evenflow DDT on Foley. The New Flock was born! TNA went to break.

Jay’s Thoughts: A Hardcore/ECW Reunion? With Raven, Stevie, Rhino, Team 3D and Taz in TNA, it would be easy to set up an ECW faction. With Hogan coming in, could an ECW v nWo 2010 be in the offing? Raven just added all kinds of new fuel to the fire. Welcome back, Scotty.

JB tried to talk with Raven and company. Dr. Stevie took over the stick and screamed at the fans. Stevie said he was in TNA to stay. Raven talked about setting Terry Funk on fire in the past because Foley got involved. This time he decided to burn Foley, directly. Raven went on one of his psychotic rants. “Quoth the Raven…Nevermore!”

Taz and Tenay talked about Hogan, again. Tenay said Sting would address the Hogan situation, next week. It led to a video piece about Sting’s possible retirement. Perhaps, Sting will make a final decision, next week.

Alissa Flash came out for the next match. Her opponent was the Playboy Playmate, Traci Brooks. Tenay talked about how Traci’s future has been thrown into chaos by the dissolution of the Main Event Mafia.

Alissa Flash d Traci Brooks

Traci shoved Alissa and the two then Collar and Elbowed. The danced their way to the corner, forcing the break. Flash choked Traci with the boot. Traci seemed to have an injured arm. Flash went to work on the injured right arm. Tenay stated that the right arm was a disability since birth. TNA hadn’t mentioned it in the past, out of respect to Traci. Alissa with the Shoulder Breaker. Flash with the Clutch DDT. Flash slammed the right arm into the mat and Flash slapped on a modified Fujiwara Arm Breaker to force the submission.

Grade: C+

Traci attacked Alissa, after the match, hitting her with fists and obscenities. Traci called for a trainer to check her arm. A mystery figure walked backstage. The legendary member of the Hart Family would face Jay Lethal, next.

Jay’s Thoughts: I’m hoping Traci ends up back in the middle of the search for the Knockouts title. She reallygot the raw deal with the whole Mafia thing. She also kinda got done wrong by Playboy, as well. She deserves a real break.

Jay Lethal came out to a new Tron video. The music was the same. This was the first Black Machismo Invitational match. Lethal was in his silver Macho robe. He waited in the ring to face…Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Neidhart is now billed from Calgary, instead of Reno, NV.

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart d Jay Lethal
Black Machismo Invitational Match

Jay looked shocked at the arrival of The Anvil. Jim moved Jay to the ropes and pounded away. Jim with a Back Body Drop. The crowd chanted “You still got it!” Jim missed a Corner Splash and Jay hopped up to the top rope. Jay hit an Ax Bomber on The Anvil. Jay’s right thigh was heavily bandaged. Jay with the Savage Punches. Jim caught Jay with a weak Clothesline, which Jay really sold. Jay grabbed Jim by the head and jumped over the ropes. Jim’s throat was brought down over the top rope. (Another Randy Savage favorite). Hmm…could a certain Legend be in the offing to face his imitator? Just thinking out loud. Jay with a big Running Elbow Smash to the face. Jim ducked a second one and lifted Jay for the Powerslam. 1-2-3!

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: It was great to see Neidhart in action. He should be in the WWE Hall of Fame but that probably will never happen. He’ll go in just about the same time Marty Jannetty gets the nod. I can only imagine this is part of Hogan helping his friends.

Lauren tried to discuss with Bobby Lashley about his issues with Scott Steiner. Before Bobby got started talking about his wife, Crystal, someone ran out to tell Bobby that there was an emergency in the truck. Bobby went out with the tech guy. Bobby ran to the truck to see a video from Steiner. Scott said he stayed away from the Impact Zone to smarten up Bobby. Scott suggested that Crystal was in love with him. Scott said he found out that Crystal was in room 305 at the local hotel. Bobby rushed out to go get his wife. Bobby took off in his car. A camera crew followed him. TNA went to break.

Super Dave was on the phone. Super Dave asked about Foley. JB said Foley had been rushed to the hospital for his burns. Super Dave asked JB to put together the best match possible. JB brought up the X-Division, which Super Dave liked.

The Beautiful People came out for an 8-Knockout match. They were joined by Awesome Kong. On the other side were ODB, Sarita, Taylor Wilde and Tara.

The Beautiful People and Awesome Kong v ODB, Taylor Wilde, Sarita and Tara
8-Knockout Tag Team Match

Highlights:

Sky Snap Mared Sarita as the show continued. She then knocked Sky off the apron. Sky missed a Low Dropkick but Sarita didn’t miss hers. During the break, The Beautiful People worked over Sarita’s lower back. Rayne and ODB both tagged in. ODB ran over both Rayne and Sky. ODB also got shots in on Lacey and Kong. ODB got Corner Splashes in on both Rayne and Sky. ODB hit her Bronco Muncher (Bronco Buster) on Sky. ODB then hit the Fallaway Slam on Rayne. ODB Kipped Up, only to be decked by a Clothesline from Lacey. Tara then punched Lacey. Tara got too close to Kong, who popped Tara in the skull. Kong got in the ring and Taylor went for the Crossbody. She might as well have been trying to Crossbody the side of a building, for all the good it did. Kong picked up Taylor and tried for the Awesome Bomb. Wilde got free and attacked Kong. Kong hit a Spinning Implant Buster on Wilde to take the win.

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: Is it me or is the Knockout division getting really boring? The Beautiful People come out, flaunt their sexiness, such as it is, and then stink up a match like cheap perfume. Sarita and Wilde are the first Knockout tag champs but they are dull as dirt. ODB finally wins the Knockout title but no one seems to care.

In the back, JB brought the entire X-Division stars into the office. Super Dave wanted something special for Foley. After the X-Division stars agree, Super Dave dismissed everyone except Don West. Super Dave told West and JB that Homicide (”the guy in the neckerchief”) took some stuff out of the office.

Kurt Angle talked about how great it was that Hogan had joined TNA. Kurt said Hogan knows what works in wrestling and what doesn’t. Kurt said Hogan was incredibly intelligent and would push TNA to the next level. Kurt said Hogan was the “change” in TNA.

TNA went to the hotel room where Steiner was. Lashley ran into the hotel room to check on his wife. Steiner jumped Lashley with a lead pipe. Scott crashed a lamp over Bobby’s head. Scott claimed the Lashley baby had his eyes. Crystal screamed for help.

Kurt Angle’s music went off as Kurt rose from the bowels of the Impact Zone. TNA looked at the attack on Angle, by Desmond Wolfe, three weeks ago. Kurt said his match against Wolfe, on Sunday, might be the most important of his career. Kurt threw major respect to Matt Morgan and A.J. Styles. Angle had no respect for Wolfe for injuring his neck. Angle said Wolfe didn’t take him out and hadn’t proven anything. Angle said he would end Wolfe’s career on Sunday.

Wolfe came on the Tron from a pub. Angle called out Wolfe. Wolfe said he was in TNA to hurt Angle and end his career. Wolfe said he was in TNA to take Kurt’s place in TNA. Kurt talked to Wolfe who didn’t answer. It dawned on Kurt that this was a set-up. He turned to face Wolfe, who had slid into the ring. Kurt ducked the Lariat from Wolfe and nailed a European Uppercut on the Britisher. Wolfe bailed out of the ring after getting bashed. Kurt went out and hit another European Uppercut. The audio from the prerecorded tape kept rolling. Kurt went to town on Wolfe. Kurt grabbed a chair but missed the chair shot. Wolfe with a DDT on the floor. Wolfe picked up the chair and waffled the Olympic hero. Wolfe taunted the knocked-out Angle.

Super Dave was at the announce table for the next segment. After another plug for Super Dave’s new show, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley and Amazing Red came to the ring. Their opponents were: Kiyoshi, Sheik Abdul Bashir and Homicide. Homicide was carrying a flag-wrapped package. Homicide set it on the announce table and told all three at the announce table to leave it alone.

The Motor City Machine Guns and Amazing Red d the World Elite
Six-Man Tag Match

The Finish:

Homicide came back to the announce table. Homicide took the flag off what had been previously called “roses” to reveal Mick Foley’s barbed wire bat! Security jumped all over Homicide. Kiyoshi and Bashir double teamed Shelley. Shelley fought back and crawled to his corner. Red took the tag and hit a Dual Missile Dropkick on both World Eliters. Red hit a Jumping Spin Kick on Kiyoshi and Bashir. Red blocked the double team by Kiyoshi and Bashir. Red rolled over Kiyoshi’s back to kick Bashir. Red with a Tilt-a-Whirl Tornado DDT. Red with a Twisting Corkscrew Plancha on Kiyoshi. The Guns hit a Sandwich move on Bashir. Sabin held Bashir in a Neckbreaker, while Shelley flew off the top rope with a Crossbody. I’m sure they will come up with a name for that move. Mine? Impressive.

Grade: A+

Jay’s Thoughts: These are the guys who are going to save TNA from the Hogan Invasion. These men are fast and agile, unlike most of the fossils that Hogan will drag with him into the group.

Lauren talked with Desmond Wolfe. Lauren felt Wolfe might have Kurt’s number. Wolfe didn’t want Kurt’s number, he wanted to replace Kurt. Wolfe said he was a healthier version of Angle. Wolfe swore he would finish the job on Sunday.

TNA looked, again, at Dixie Carter’s address to her troops.

Team 3D came to the ring with their IWGP tag belts. Rhino was with them. Brother Ray talked about Dixie calling for change. Ray said Team 3D was on board with Dixie. Ray talked about taking a chair to Matt Morgan and Hernandez, last week. Ray said he was glad he did what he did. Ray apologized to Rhino for not wanting to believe Rhino’s thoughts about being replaced by the young guys. Ray said Team 3D and Rhino wouldn’t let them get away with it. Ray then called out Morgan and Hernandez.

Hernandez and Morgan came from the back. Morgan said that Ray should come to them, not the other way around. Ray mocked Morgan’s status in the company. Ray called Hernandez “an uneducated Mexican with no green card”. Ouch. Hernandez said he and Morgan took what they’ve gotten in the company, because they can. Ray called for a six man street fight at Turning Point. Ray wanted to know if they had a partner. Morgan called them Team Triple D and Blubber Ray. Devon told Hernandez and Morgan that better get a partner. The call was answered by…”The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero! Dinero put himself in the match. Dinero started preaching about the future being the three of them. TNA went to break after Pope told Devon and the others “The Pope has spoken”.

TNA ran a promo for the Triple Threat World title match between A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe and Daniels. From there, Matt Morgan did a promo for ADHD. 2 of my 3 grandsons suffer from ADHD, so I know what a tough struggle it can be for kids. Morgan told the fans about WWW.CHADD.ORG. That stands for Children & Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

Lauren interviewed the British Invasion. They would face Beer Money, later in the night. If the Brits were too lose, Beer Money would be placed in the World title match against The Motor City Machine Guns and the British Invasion. The Brits were upset that they were being discriminated against but were determined to fight. Eric Young mocked TNA for not standing behind the suspension that they issued to the British Invasion. Eric said he and the World Elite have no problem with Hulk Hogan, yet. Eric reminded everyone “We Came, We Saw, We Conquered” (spoken in Latin).

Tenay and Taz then ran down the finalized Turning Point card. TNA then went to break. After the break, Hogan did an audio comment about flipping the wrestling world upside down. Don West then ran down some upcoming events.

JB talked with A.J. Styles. JB talked about Daniels being on a different page than Styles. Styles apologized to Daniels for thinking that Daniels had jumped him. Styles said he hadn’t forgotten about the person who jumped him. Styles then went back to Daniels. He accused Daniels of “drinking the Kool-aid”. Styles gave Daniels a title shot, because Daniels asked for it. Styles said he would beat both Joe and Daniels on Sunday.

The British Invasion came to the ring for the main event. Beer Money then rolled to the ring.

Beer Money, Inc. d The British Invasion
Championship Challenge Match

The Finish:

Doug drove his knee into Roode’s back. Taz and Tenay pushed Dixie’s new Twitter page. Doug with a Rear Chin Lock. Roode Elbowed free. The Brits tried for the double team but it backfired. Roode hit a Stereo BuffBuster on Brutus and Doug. Storm got the tag. He threw hard rights at both Brits. Storm with the Jawbreaker and Flying Clothesline on Brutus. Storm used a Slingshot to bring in Doug. He then Bulldogged Doug into the mat. Storm with a solid right to the jaw. Brutus reversed an Irish Whip but Storm flipped him up and over the ropes. Brutus landed on the apron. Brutus got a shot in but Storm answered it. Storm then pulled a page out of Randy Orton’s playbook with the Rope-Assisted DDT. Doug tried for a Kneedrop to prevent the pin but ended up hitting Brutus, by accident. Beer Money took out Doug with the Double Suplex. They did the Beer Money Dance. Roode caught Brutus with an Inverted Atomic Drop. Roode then Clotheslined Brutus into a Back Stabber from Storm. Somehow, Brutus kicked out of the move. Roode slid a chair in the ring. He wanted Brutus to take it, which he did. Doug stopped him from striking Storm, which would have brought the DQ loss. Roode slid into the ring and Beer Money shoved the Brits into each other. Doug was tossed over the top rope and Beer Money caught Brutus with their DWI finisher. This time, Brutus didn’t get so lucky.

Grade: A

Jay’s Thoughts: There were rumors that James Storm might end up back with Chris Harris. I’m really glad that didn’t happen. Beer Money is destined to go down as one of the best tag teams in wrestling history, if some fool writer doesn’t split them up in the next couple of years. They mesh so well with each other in the ring.

Lauren talked with Roode and Storm, after the match. Roode said, on Sunday, Beer Money would prove they were the best tag team, ever. Storm told both the Brits and the Guns “Sorry about your damn luck”.

JB was with D’Angelo Dinero, Hernandez and Matt Morgan. Hernandez thought Dinero was shady. Dinero said he wore sunglasses because his future were so bright. Morgan wanted to know why he should trust a “street pimp”. Dinero said when he gives his word, it’s golden. Dinero felt that Team 3D and Rhino wanted to keep him down, as well as Hernandez and Morgan. Dinero said the three of them would be pimpin’ on Sunday.

Lauren then chatted with Daniels. Daniels was bitter that Styles thought he could attack him. Daniels said that they would always be friends, but this is business. There are not friends in business. Daniels started whining about TNA not supporting him. Daniels said that Styles wanted to fight him, after he was dropped on his head by Joe.

Speaking of Joe, he came out for a non-title match. This was the actual main event of the night. There were just about 6 minutes left in the show. A.J. Styles then came through the shower of sparks.

Samoa Joe d A.J Styles
Non-Title Match

The Finish:

Joe reversed an Irish Whip but Styles hit a Back Elbow. Styles Back Flipped out of the corner but Joe caught him with a Clothesline. Styles kicked out at two. Joe went for another Powerbomb but Styles rolled over the top. Styles then rocked Joe with a Crescent Kick. Styles called for his finisher but Joe turned the Styles Clash into a Back Body Drop. Styles ducked a Clothesline and hit the Pele. Styles went to the top rope but Daniels distracted him. The two argued as Joe smiled. Styles smacked Daniels in the face. Joe slapped on the Kokina Clutch. Styles passed out.

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: This match deserved a good 20 minutes, not 6. I think there is going to be a huge Daniels v Styles feud after Sunday. I also think Samoa Joe is going to get left out in the cold.

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: Turning Point should be called Turning Stomachs. It is lining up to be serious sad, as PPVs go. Much like the WWE, TNA is running far too many PPVs. They don’t give stories the proper time to grow and mature. Angle v Wolfe should have taken 3 months to get to the big battle, not 3 weeks. The whole Knockouts thing is a yawn-fest. I realize that TNA is playing it safe, with Survivor Series running next week but the fans deserve better. This week’s Impact was as good as it could be, considering it was a two-hour informercial for a defective product.

ECW (11/10) Extreme Examination
Our resident philosopher looks at the pond-jumping edition of ECW

William Regal was home in England for his final shot at the ECW title. He was joined by several of the top stars of the Tuesday Night Delight.

The show opened with a touching tribute to the troops. I grew up in a military family. My grandfather and step-father both served this great country of ours. Health issues kept me from joining them in service but I always support those who lay their lives on the line for their beliefs and their country.

Tony Atlas came out to introduce Abraham Washington for the Abraham Washington Show. Abe came out to talk with Yoshi Tatsu. The crowd was dead for the annoying talk show host, at least at first. They started booing when he began to speak. Tony mentioned how the people in England talked funny. Abe then made fun of the people’s teeth. The crowd were both irritated and bored with the whole segment. Abe then called out Yoshi Tatsu. Yoshi was in a suit and tie. Yoshi mentioned that his English was not very good, but he was nervous. They got into that silly “Thank You” back and forth thing. Abe wanted to know who Yoshi thought would win. Yoshi said Christian would retain his title, despite Regal being really tough. Yoshi called Abe “Chris Tucker” which annoyed Abe. Yoshi made fun of Tony’s goofy laugh. Abe said only he got to make fun of Tony. Abe ended the painful segment and left with Tony.

Segment Grade: D-

Jay’s Thoughts: I didn’t think Abe could get any worse. He flubbed more lines that a junior high drama student. Rather pathetic.

ECW looked at Regal’s desire for the ECW title. Regal, along with Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson, made Christian’s life pure Hell over the past few weeks.. Tonight’s match was Regal’s last shot at gaining the platinum and leather strap.

Paul and Katie Lea Burchill came out for the opening match. Next week, Burchill will face The Hurricane. If Burchill loses, he and Katie Lea will leave ECW. If he wins, Hurricane must unmask. This week, Burchill faced Goldust.

Goldust d Paul Burchill

The Finish:

Goldust worked over Paul’s knee to get free. Paul immediately went back to work on the ribs. The crowd was getting bored, again. Paul stomped on the ribs. Goldust began to punch away at Paul and dropped him with the Goldustin Uppercut. Goldust hit a pair of Clotheslines and set for his Bulldog. Paul shoved out of the move and Goldust landed awkwardly. Paul hit a Running Field Goal on Goldust’s ribs. Suddenly, Hurricane’s music rang out. The Emerald Knight rushed to the ring. The distraction allowed Goldust to hit his Final Cut finisher on Burchill.

Grade: B+

Jay’s Thoughts: I’m wondering if the WWE is planning a union between Paul Burchill and Drew McIntyre on Smackdown. I can’t imagine that they would unmask Hurricane.

ECW looked at the issues between Zack Ryder and Shelton Benjamin. Zack was distracted by Rosa Mendes. Zack and Shelton will square off on Superstars. Zack ran into Rosa, in the back. Rosa started rambling about her abilities. Zack said he liked her and couldn’t stop staring at her. She invited him to come out to the ring with him. Zack went into a fantasy vision of himself and Rosa getting all romantic and skipping backstage. He had a silly grin on his face as ECW went to break.

Regal chatted with Tiffany in the backstage area. Regal wanted to clear the air with the GM because he got a title shot without her knowledge. Tiffany was ready for a fresh start, whether Regal won the title or not.

Vance Archer stomped down to the ring. The former Lance Hoyt had a near demonic grin on his face. His opponent was local guy, Jason Blackwell.

Vance Archer d Jason Blackwell

Vance cut a quick little promo threatening his opponent. Vance threw Jason to the mat and kicked Jason. Vance with a Clothesline. Jason got a shot to the face and grabbed a Headlock. Vance threw the kid to the mat and then picked him up for a Spinning move that was a cross between and F5 and a Chokeslam. Vance stomped the kid’s head and choked him in the corner with the boot. Vance with a Rolling Belly to Belly Suplex. Vance hit his Powerspin Inverted DDT.

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: I have a really bad feeling that Archer is going to end up alongside Matt Morgan, Test, Berserker, Mike Knox and a dozen more grapplers that just stayed at mid-card status. I don’t see him ever taking the ECW title and doubt seriously if he’d get a run at any of the four other singles titles, either. His best shot is to find himself a partner and get set to go after tag team gold.

Christian walked backstage. He would defend his title…next.

William Regal got a respectful pop from the crowd. Some booed him but many more cheered for their countryman. Just a fun little trivia fact…William Regal did a bit of acting not far from Sheffield. He played a German officer in a couple of episodes of the long-running British Comedy “Allo Allo”. He was in the 8th season under his given name, Darrin Mathews. Regal just grinned at the love from his fans. He then went back into character and scowled. Christian then came out to screams from his British Peeps.

Christian d William Regal
ECW Championship Match

The Finish:

Christian rallied the crowd and hit the Slider Elbow Drop on Regal. Regal kicked out of the pin at two. Christian ran Regal into the corner and tried for the Tornado DDT. Regal blocked it and shoved Christian off the top rope. Christian fell to the outside. Christian fought his way back into the ring and then took down Regal with a middle rope Missile Dropkick. Christian then went back to the corner and hit a top rope version of the Missile Dropkick. Regal still managed to kick out. Christian went for a second KillSwitch but Regal spun around and decked Christian. The count seemed a tad slow. Regal missed with the Knee Trembler but came back around and nailed a weaker version. Christian kicked out at 2 and a half Christian went for another KillSwitch but Regal converted it into the Regal Stretch. Christian was able to break the hold and Dropkick Regal. Regal sat on the top turnbuckle and waited for Regal to get up. Christian hit the Morningstar (Spinning European Uppercut) to drop Regal onto his pompous posterior. Christian went for a third KillSwitch but Regal turned it into an Exploder Suplex. Regal set for the Knee Trembler. Christian avoided it and finally pulled the KillSwitch to retain his title.

Grade: A

Jay’s Thoughts: So, where the heck does William Regal go from here? I have to imagine that he will turn to full time management. There is a possibility that he could pull off a coup and take over for Tiffany. I would have almost bet my pitbull, Molly, that Regal was going to take the strap, only to drop it to Tatsu or Ryder. I personally think it was bad booking. The match, however, was phenominal. Both men were allowed to show just how good they are. The finish felt a touch weak, which is which I knocked a half point off my grade.

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: I’ve dissed Abe Washington to death, so let’s not go there. I want to talk about the action. One word…solid. The main event was given plenty of time. Burchill and Goldust really gave a good showing, as well. I’m also glad to hear that several ECW stars will be in action at Survivor Series. After the slap in the face from Bragging Rights, it’s nice to see everyone get to play.

Peace

The TNA Impact (11/5) Insight
Our resident philosopher looks at the so-called new beginnings of TNA

Dixie Carter laid down the law to the troops, this week. Daniels and A.J. Styles squared off, with Samoa Joe as the special guest ref. The stars of TNA started giving their opinions on Hulk Hogan (and his entourage) joining the company.

The show, of course, opened with the press conference from last week. Eric Bischoff introduced The Hulkster. Hogan has started making the press rounds to push his alliance with the organization. It still hasn’t been revealed what Hogan’s role will be.

This Week’s Episode: A New Beginning

Dixie did her best Dolly Parton Chicken Ranch speech (From Best Little Whorehouse in Texas). She said that people could have different opinions but if they questioned her, they could leave. Harsh. There was still no sign of Jeff Jarrett. Dixie said it was time to swing for the fences. Dixie said that the roster would be tested but if they pulled together, TNA could be the best. I will not be shocked if people start leaving the organization after hearing that hard-nosed speech.

On to the Impact Zone where A.J. Styles made his way from the back. Styles addressed the changes in TNA. He started by saying that he hasn’t changed. They crowd gave a mixed reaction when Styles mentioned Hogan’s name. Styles grinned as he said TNA was at a whole new level. Styles then looked at the negatives. Styles said he was a fighting champion but he has been jumped, several times. Styles said the mystery person should “Man Up”, whether Foe or Friend, and face him.

Daniels stormed from the back. Mike Tenay and Taz suggested that Daniels was the attacker. Daniels questioned Styles about the Foe or Friend comment. Styles said he didn’t have to explain his comment. Daniels disagreed. Daniels wondered if Styles was so gullible, or stupid, to buy Joe’s comments. Daniels accused Styles of being arrogant. Daniels talked about all the opportunities that Styles has been given. Daniels accused Styles of being pampered and spoiled. He suggested that Styles gets special treatment. Daniels said he is every bit the wrestler that Styles is. Daniels said the company has kept him down, while helping Styles up. Daniels hoped that things would change, in a positive way, for him. He expected that he would face another seven years of Hell. Styles got upset at his long-time friend. Styles wanted to know if there was anything that Daniels couldn’t say to him…

Enter Samoa Joe. Joe said Daniels was working Styles. He called Daniels “a bald-face liar”. Joe said the friendship was a lie, as well. Joe accused Daniels of being jealous of Styles. Joe said he wanted what Styles had, the World title. Joe said he was honest enough to say it face to face. Joe suggested Daniels attacked Styles like a cowardly punk. Daniels snapped and said he could beat Styles, anytime he wanted to. Styles called him on his remark. Styles challenged him to prove up…tonight. Styles said they should put their friendship aside and get this settled. Daniels and Styles shook on it to agree. Joe had a wicked smile as he watched the scene.

Eric Young and Big Rob (Terry) came out to face Beer Money, Inc. Last week, Eric renamed the Legends title, last week. It is now the Global Championship. Eric said he would not defend the title against US wrestlers or in the US. James Storm rode out on the Boozer Cruizer. Taz wanted a beer.

Beer Money d Eric Young and Big Rob

The Finish:

Eric ran in but took an Enziguri, in the corner, from Storm. Eric fell out of the ring. Storm was elevated over the ropes and onto Rob. Rob struck his head on the concrete floor. Storm rolled Rob back in and Beer Money tried for the DWI. Rob fought back and lifted Roode with a drop. Eric brought in the Global belt and accidentally clocked Rob with it. Rob was easy prey for the pin.

Grade: B+

Eric rushed in and tried to smash his title into the heads of Beer Money. They both dodged him and set for the DWI. Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams in their Good Humor outfits hit the ring to stop the assault on their so-called leader. The ref called for security to break things up. The World Elite started up the ramp. Brutus and Doug read the riot act to Rob. At he top of the ramp, The Motor City Machine Guns jumped the British Invasion.

Jay’s Thoughts: Do I hear the opening strains of a face turn for Big Rob? I’d love to see him and Hernandez form a team. They’d be a real threat to either tag belt.

In the back, the Beautiful People talked about filming their second video “Meanest Girls, Part II”. The trio took the camera crew to the video shoot. TNA took a break before visiting the set.

The Beautiful People were looking for Taylor Wilde and Sarita<\. They found ODB. They got into some great verbal shots at each other. The Beautiful People jumped on ODB and sprayed her in the face. They shoved ODB into a laundry bag.

Lauren then talked with Jay Lethal. Lethal went into full Savage mode. he threw out a little history lesson. Lethal then welcomed Hogan to TNA. Lethal created the Black Machismo Invitational. he said he would fight any given Legends. He called for Bundy, Flair, Koloff, etc… I heard that he gets his first challenge, next week, which will hit him like an Anvil.

JB talked with Mick Foley. JB tried to ask about the issue with Abyss. Mick diverted the conversation to Hogan. He then went to talk about the video footage of the office and wanted to know what JB was trying to hide. JB then switched it back to Abyss. Foley said he had a surprise for Abyss. TNA went to break.

Desmond Wolfe then came out in an Undertaker-like blue fog. I guess that was supposed to represent the London fog. TNA then showed Wolfe's Lariat of Angle, last week. Wolfe had the former Knockout Champion, Cody "Cooter" Deaner, in the ring.

Desmond Wolfe d Cody Deaner

Ok, this took mere seconds. Deaner charged at Wolfe. Wolfe hit the Lariat. Deaner was gone. Yep, that quick.

Grade: C

Jay’s Thoughts: I couldn’t help but hearing the obnoxious bragging voice of an old ex-friend in my head. He used to run his mouth at the bar saying “There ain’t gonna be but two hits…I hit you and you hit the floor”. TNA is just determined to keep using the same old boring Goldberg Pushh with every new kid that comes along. Yawn.

Taz and Tenay were trying to talk to Kurt Angle. Angle said his larynx and neck were injured. Angle said Wolfe caught him off-guard. The medics were in the ring to check on Deaner. Wolfe wanted to talk. Wolfe said Deaner was just another victim of the Wolfe. Wolfe said it was easy for people to get in the ring with him but not so easy to leave. Wolfe called Kurt “Mr. Mangled”. Wolfe said he would face Kurt at Turning Point. Wolfe said he could smell the blood, already. He said he was “Hungry Like a Wolf(e)”.

Lauren talked with Suicide. Lauren said Homicide now knew his identity. Suicide said he would not reveal himself to the audience. Suicide said the “Dark Savior” would strike down on Homicide, soon.

Lauren chatted with Brother Ray and Brother Devon of Team 3D. She asked if Team 3D believed Rhino’s conspiracy theory. Ray wanted to talk about Hulk Hogan. He said Dixie Carter had the biggest set of grapefruits in the business. Rhino came in and threw out that The Guns won, last week, because of the conspiracy. He started ranting about all the coincidences in TNA around him and Team 3D. Devon threw respect to Matt Morgan and Hernandez. Ray said “To Be the Team, you have to Beat the Team”. Ray threw respect to Ric Flair, although he didn’t call him by name.

Samoa Joe came out for the Hour Turner match. Joe was wearing Undertaker purple gloves. Daniels then came out, stone faced. Daniels stared daggers at Joe. In the back, JB talked with Styles. Styles was jumped by a masked man and threw him into a wall. Daniels tried to rush back to him but Joe stopped him. Joe nailed a Muscle Buster on Daniels. Joe left the ring. TNA went to break.

Tara came out for the next match. She had Poison, the tarantula, with her. TNA showed Awesome Kong’s attack on Tara, last week. Tara’s opponent was Hamada.

Tara d Hamada

The two locked up and then broke when neither could gain an advantage. Hip Toss by Tara. Standing Switch by Tara and Hamada. Hamada took Tara down but couldn’t get the pin. Hamada with Knife Edge Chops. Tara Clotheslined Hamada, twice, and then hit the Scoop Slam. Tara with a Standing Moonsault. Tara Shouldered Hamada in the corner. Hamada reversed an Irish Whip but got hoisted over the ropes by Tara. Hamada Headbutted Tara and then went Old School (Undertaker-style) on Tara. Taker should get royalties from this week’s show. Hamada with a brutal Enziguri into a La Magistral Roll-up. Hamada with a Side Suplex. She then went for the Moonsault but Tara got the knees up. Tara used her Widow’s Peak finisher to take the win.

Grade: B+

Kong then stomped down the ramp. Security tried to hold her back. Tara with a Crossbody off the top rope onto Kong! The two fought around ringside. Security tried to keep the two apart. Tenay announced that Tara and Kong would face off in the Six Sides of Steel at the next PPV.

Jay’s Thoughts: Hamada deserves better than this. She should be a top contender for the Knockouts title. Instead, she’s just floundering in mid-card Hell. Tara v Kong does look to be a decent fight.

Lauren spoke with Tara. Tara warned Kong that she would be locked up with Tara in the cage.

Mick Foley then came from the back. TNA showed Mick Foley save Abyss from an attack by Dr. Stevie. Foley had had a gift for Abyss. Foley called out The Monster. Foley told Abyss that he understood why Abyss didn’t trust him. Foley set the gift in the corner. Foley talked about the brutal battle that they had at Bound For Glory. Foley said he felt bad about his negative comments about Abyss. Foley said he needed to see if Abyss was as good as everyone said he was. Foley said Abyss was as tough as he thought but he wasn’t as good as he thought…he was better. Foley threw out respect to both Bruiser Brody and the Dynamite Kid, as well as Terry Funk and Harley Race. Foley said he felt it was an honor that Abyss was compared to him. Foley got the gift from the corner. He handed the picture to Abyss. It was another caricature, this time Foley and Abyss. Abyss was almost in tears. Foley stopped his exit to say that Abyss had one more thing to prove. He made the match of Abyss v Dr. Stevie. If Abyss pins Dr. Stevie, Stevie must leave TNA.

JB interviewed Scott Steiner. JB wanted to know what Steiner thought of Hogan’s arrival. Steiner talked about his history in the nWo. He said he might have Hogan join him in the Main Event Mafia. Steiner then suggested that Crystal Lashley was lusting after him. Steiner said you can’t stop the lust of a woman. TNA went to break.

Matt Morgan talked about Hogan’s arrival. he felt it was a big thing. He talked about being a Hulkamaniac. He said that he got a lot of insight from Hogan during their time together at American Gladiators.

Homicide then got in the ring. TNA showed the non-title win over Amazing Red, last week. Homicide got Bobby Lashley. Lashley had Crystal at his side.

Bobby Lashley d Homicide

Earl Hebner forced Crystal to go to the back. Bobby was ticked. Homicide jumped Bobby and punched away. Lashley shoved him away. Lashley whipped Homicide into the corner but missed a Splash. Homicide hit a Missile Dropkick to drop “The Boss”. Lashley kicked out with authority.Lashley with a Leapfrog and a monster Chokeslam to take the easy win.

Grade: B-

Homicide jumped Lashley after the bell. Homicide took off his boot and started to hit him. Bobby went for a Press Slam but Steiner and Crystal showed up on the ‘Tron. Steiner kidnapped Crystal but Lashley caught them. Bobby destroyed Steiner in the back, throwing him into the wall. Various wrestlers tried to pull Lashley off. Lashley kicked at Steiner as TNA went to break.

Jay’s Thoughts: Lashley comes in as the greatest thing since sliced bread and he’s stuck in a silly feud with Steiner? You know, if Dixie is going to make some major changes, maybe she should start with the lousy writing staff.

Homicide attacked Earl Hebner, after the break. Red rushed to the ring and took the fight to Homicide with a Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissors and a Jumping Spin Kick. Red went to the top rope and hit the Crimson Clothesline. Homicide bailed out of the ring and hightailed it. Tenay and Taz ran down the updated Turning Point card. This one is shaping up to be awesome.

Madison Rayne dressed in Angelina Love-like fishnets and leopard print outfit. Her opponent was one half of the Knockout Champions,Taylor Wilde.

Taylor Wilde d Madison Rayne

Wilde with a headlock. Rayne sent Wilde to the ropes but took a boot to the ribs. Wilde with a dive over Rayne and an Arm Drag into a Arm Bar. Wilde went for the Flying Headscissors but Rayne pulled back and Wilde hit the mat with a splat. Rayne mounted Wilde and punched away. Rayne showed off and Wilde tripped her. Wilde hit a Rolling Back Bridge to take the quick win.

Grade: C

The Beautiful People attacked Wilde en masse. Sarita rushed down to aid her partner. It was still a 3-on-2 beat down until ODB came down to help. The Beautiful People scooted out of the ring to avoid the Trailer Park Princess.

Jay’s Thoughts: The Double Championship battle at the next PPV intrigues me. It has the potential to really be a fun match. I’d like to see Lacey Von Erich take the Knockout title. Unfortunately, if the Beautiful People take the title, they will probably share both of them. That would stink like week-old fish.

Don West ran down some upcoming shows, including a special Nashville show. Lauren then interviewed Matt Morgan and Hernandez. Hernandez and Morgan blew off the conspiracy theory. Morgan had respect for Team 3D but he and Hernandez were going to knock them off their perch. Hernandez echoed the comment with “Like it or not” (in Spanish).

A.J. Styles then made his way through the shower of sparks to make a second attempt to battle Daniels. TNA showed the attack, early, in the back. Daniels was already waiting for him, as was Joe.

A.J. Styles d Daniels
Non-Title Match, Special Guest Ref — Samoa Joe

The Finish:

Daniels clamped on a Seated Abdominal Stretch. Styles got to his feet and punched free. Daniels with a kick to the ribs. Daniels with a Scoop Slam and a Split-Legged Moonsault. Daniels drove the knee into Styles’ ribs. Joe threaten to DQ Daniels. Styles began to fight back. A knee from Daniels slowed him down. Styles with a Suplex into a Neckbreaker. Joe began to count them down. Daniels really took a wicked bump to the neck at Bound For Glory. My grandsons were in my office to watch the replay with me and Tim, who is 14, yelled out to his mom “This dude is so dead!”. Styles with a pair of Clotheslines. Daniels reversed an Irish Whip but Styles hopped over the ropes and onto the apron. He popped Daniels in the face on the rush-in. Styles went for the Springboard Crossbody but they cracked heads. Both men were down and stunned. Daniels rushed Styles to the corner. Styles with the Springboard to try and hit the Inverted DDT. Daniels actually countered it into a Snap Mare. Styles with a Crucifix into the Styles Clash!

Grade: A

Joe handed Styles the title and left the ring. When Styles went to check on Daniels, Joe rushed back into the ring and slapped the Kokina Clutch on Styles! Joe choked out of Styles. Daniels was in no shape to help the TNA champ. Joe picked up the TNA title and held it aloft. TNA went to break.

Jay’s Thoughts: This three way battle just seems rather weak to me. I realize that all three men are extremely talented but this just doesn’t have the excitement factor that a Triple Threat World title match should have.

Hernandez felt Hogan’s arrival to TNA would bring great exposure to the company. From there, Lauren talked with Dr. Stevie and Daffney. Lauren told Stevie that Foley played them both. Stevie said he wasn’t about to leave TNA. Stevie said he planned to take out Abyss, once and for all. Stevie looked forward to sharing his brutality with Abyss.

Team 3D arrived for a non-title match against Morgan and Hernandez. Devon’s knee was heavily braced. It was injured at Bound For Glory. Matt Morgan and Hernandez came out together to face the IWGP Champs.

Matt Morgan and Hernandez d Team 3D (by DQ)
Non-Title Match

The Finish:

Devon took the tagged and hit an Elbow Drop off the ropes. Devon jammed his knee on the landing. Hernandez pulled Devon into the middle of the ring and twisted the knee. Rhino came to the ringside area and told Ray to pay attention to what was going on. Ray told Rhino to go away. Morgan tagged in and went back to work on the knee. Rhino said Morgan was trying to take out Devon’s knee. Ray lost it and shoved Rhino away and told him to get the freak out of here (Ray’s actual words). Morgan with a Single Leg Crab> Hernandez took the tag and went back to the knee. Morgan came back in and hit the Knee Breaker and called for the Chokeslam. ray came in with the chair and took out both Morgan and Hernandez.

Grade: B

Ray was confused after the match. Rhino came in and hugged Ray, who shoved him away. Rhino hit Gores! on both Morgan and Hernandez. Ray was totally confused by all the chaos. TNA faded to black.

Jay’s Thoughts: Make up your darn minds, writers! Will Team 3D be faces or heels? This is just darn annoying. The whold conspiracy angle is lame. It just muddies the waters of the tag team scene.

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: If this was the new beginning, I’m thinking beginning of the end. Jeff Jarrett has disappeared to play house with Karen Angle. Dixie’s now trying to be all high and mighty, doing the “the door is thata way” speech. Hogan’s arrival is just not going to be a good thing. TNA is sliding into a major boring rut. Expect all of Hogan’s buddies to show up in the company. Lethal’s challenge is likely going to be the door that they walk through. I already know the first challenger, which I hinted at above. I’m expecting Brutus Beefcake (probably called something silly like Brother Bruti) to be next. The Nasty Boys are on the way, as well as Greg Valentine, Bundy and probably a slew of former WCW guys. The clock just rolled back 10 years and moved from Orlando to Atlanta.

Peace

ECW (1/3) Extreme Exam!
Our resident philosopher looks at an action packed hour of ECW.

ECW unveiled Sheamus’s replacement on the roster. (He’s a transplant from TNA by way of FCW). William Regal also made another bid to earn a title shot.

This Week’s Episode: Sharp as an Archer’s arrow

The show opened with highlights of Christian v Yoshi Tatsu, from last week. Tatsu really came close to taking the title. The match was filled with great moves and the crowd was on their feet for the whole match. After the match, William Regal had Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson take out Christian.

Speaking of Christian, the champ stormed down to the ring. He was not a happy camper. He didn’t even recognize his fans, like he normally would. he called for the stick. Christian demanded that Regal come to the ring, immediately. Regal made Christian wait. Christian decided to go looking for the leader of the Ruthless Roundtable. He was stopped by Tiffany, ECW’s General Manager. She strolled down to the ring as her annoying music blared. Tiffany said she owed Christian an apology. Tiffany wanted to handle this situation, since Regal’s actions were because she wouldn’t give him a title shot. Tiffany tried to explain that if Christian gave Regal a title shot, he would be playing into Regal’s hands. Christian said he didn’t care.

Regal, Kozlov and Jackson then strolled from the back. Christian urged Regal to come to the ring. Regal wanted to know why he should give Christian what he wanted? Regal wanted to know if Christian would put the ECW title on the line. Christian was ready to scrap his other match to face Regal. Christian reminded Tiffany that he was in the same arena where he won his first ECW title. Regal refused to face Christian, right then. Regal said he would only face Christian, on his terms. Regal wanted to face Christian, next week, in England. Christian said he would see “Bill” in England, next week. Tiffany said Kozlov and Jackson would be banned from ringside. Tiffany then told Regal he would fight, next. Christian waited in the ring. He drilled Regal with a Baseball Slide Dropkick to the chest. ECW went to break.

Regal was nursing a sore neck as ECW returned. His opponent was Goldust. The Bizarre One got a huge pop as he arrived.

William Regal d Goldust

Goldust danced around to throw Regal off his game. The two locked up and moved to the ropes. Goldust and Regal exchanged fists, with Goldust coming out on top. The two fought out to the floor, where Goldust dropped Regal. They got back in the ring and punched away. Regal threw Goldust to the outside and they started fighting on the floor, again. Goldust rolled Regal into the ring and hit an Atomic Drop. Goldust mounted the turnbuckles and punched away. regal came back and threw Goldust into the corner and punched away. Regal Irish Whipped Goldust to the corner and hit a Fore-arm Shiver to drop Goldust. Regal slapped on a Rear Chin Lock. Goldust turned and got to his feet. he punched at the ribs and hit the Goldustin Uppercut. He hit Running Clotheslines on Regal but ate a boot. Goldust hit a weak Powerslam. Goldust nailed a Bulldog and went for a Splash. When he missed, Regal nailed the Knee Trembler to take the win.

Grade: B-

Jay’s Thoughts: ECW goes to England, next week? I smell a serious title switch. It could open the door for Yoshi Tatsu to follow up with a title shot to gain his first gold.

Rosa Mendes chatted with Zack Ryder. Zack was smitten with the lovely Latina. ECW went to break.

Rosa was introduced as the guest ring announcer. Rosa rambled about practicing her ring announce duties. She called out Zack Ryder, after a cameraman told her to get on with it. Rosa was absolutely gorgeous, other than her legs are way too thin. She then introduced Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benjamin d Zack Ryder

The Finish:

Shelton got to his feet but Zack used a Back Heel Trip to take Shelton back down. Shelton worked over the ribs to get free. The two got into a slugfest. Shelton came out on top in that little exchange. Shelton with the Back Body Drop and an Irish Whip. Shelton nailed the Stinger Splash and sent Zack to the ropes. Zack got a shot in on Shelton but then fell victim to the Belly to Belly Overhead Suplex. They ended up on the floor, again. Zack flipped Shelton into the ring but stopped to stare at Rosa. That let Shelton hit Paydirt on the distracted Zack Ryder.

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: I have to think this match was a thank you to Shelton for making Sheamus look good in the last few weeks. I’m hoping he finally gets brought up to championship matches.

Paul and Katie Lea Burchill waited in the ring for The Hurricane. Hurricane’s cool intro ran and the Emerald Knight same tot he ring with his new green and black kendo stick. Hurricane got a Halloween shot at Katie Lea. Paul was tired of the fraud that Hurricane put over on the fans. Hurricane said the fans loved to fly and “chicks dig super-hero types”. Paul had a proposal to end it all. If Paul wins, Hurricane will unmask. If Hurricane wins, Paul and Katie Lea will leave ECW. Hurricane accepted with a modified Green Lantern rhyme.

Jay’s Thoughts: So where will the Burchills go when they lose? (Which they will).

In the back, Tony Atlas and Abraham Washington grumbled about William Regal tearing up his Rent-a-Center furniture, last week. They started talking about the new set they waned from Tiffany. The newest ECW superstar, Vance Archer (Lance Hoyt/Rock), walked past Washington and Atlas. Tiffany said Archer was “intense”.

The Raw Rebound looked at all the fun and silliness of the Osbournes on Raw. They brought out Great Khali for a segment called Raw’s Got Talent. Chris Masters flexing pecs thing was the funniest darn thing I have seen on wrestling in years. My daughter, Jess, was impressed.

Vance Archer d Logan Jones

Vance grinned/smirked at his victim. Archer shoved Logan out of the ring. Jones, like Triple H, was trained by the late, great Killer Kowalski. It didn’t help him much against Vance. Vance slapped Logan and then hit a Rolling Hip Toss/Slam combo. Vance took the win with a Inverted Powerspin DDT (The Final Touch).

Grade: Big D, actually a solid B

Jay’s Thoughts: The long hair did wonders for Lance/Vance. He sure as heck ain’t no pretty boy. I hope he doesn’t get lost in the shuffle like he did in TNA, but I kind of expect it to happen.

The main event was next. Kozlov and Jackson would face Christian and Yoshi.

The Ruthless Roundtable waited in the ring for the ECW champ and the Japanese Superstar. Christian came out, wearing his title belt. This time, he showed love to his “peeps”. Christian waited at the base of the ring for his partner, Yoshi.

Christian and Yoshi Tatsu d Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson

The Finish:

Kozlov with the Locked Arm Headbutt. Kozlov with the Belly to Belly Suplex. Jackson tagged back in and pounded the ribs. Jackson slapped on a different version of the Double Underhook. Jackson pounded Yoshi in the back of the head. Jackson threw Yoshi into the corner but missed the Splash. Yoshi crawled to his corner and brought in Captain Charisma. Christian went after Kozlov with hard fists to the head. Kozlov Irish Whipped Christian to the corner but ate a boot on the run-in. Christian with the Morningstar (Flying European Uppercut off the middle ropes). Christian Dropkicked Jackson off the apron. Christian scampered up the turnbuckles but got caught. Kozlov threw Christian into the ring. Kozlov with a Gut Wrench into a Body Vise. Christian slipped free and put Kozlov down with the Slop Drop. Jackson prevented the pin. Yoshi rushed in and joined Christian in an attack on Jackson. They flipped him out of the ring and to the floor. Yoshi then hit a Flying Crossbody over the top rope, onto Jackson. Back in the ring, Kozlov used a Fallaway Slam on Christian. Kozlov missed a Charge into the corner. Christian went to the corner for a Tornado DDT. Christian pulled the KillSwitch to take the win for the team.

Grade: B

William Regal rushed the ring and tried to Pearl Harbor Christian. It led to a serious slugfest between the two. Jackson then jumped Christian from behind. Jackson stomped on Christian. Christian was dragged into the ring post. His ribs hit the steel. Regal then locked in the Regal Stretch, on the floor. Regal shrieked like a Banshee as he twisted the ECW Champ’s body.

Jay’s Thoughts: Did ECW just kill all possible momentum with Kozlov and Jackson? Those two powerhouses were upstaged by a team that is almost half their size. This is why Kozlov bombed over on Smackdown. To think, I was looking forward to Kozlov/Jackson v JeriShow. Never mind.

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: So Regal gets yet another shot at the title. Tyler Reks is still MIA. Sheamus leaves and Archer becomes teh latest Goldberg wannabe. Yes, it’s pretty much status quo in the Land of Make Believe err.. Extreme.I’m wondering how ECW will get left out of Survivor Series. It’s going to happen. I’d just about bet the farm on it.

Impact (10/29) Insight
Our resident philosopher looks at what may go down as the true turning point episode of Impact. Major changes are about to happen on Thursdays

The landscape of TNA changed forever on Thursday. Hulk Hogan made his first appearance, along with Dixie Carter, since the news that rocked the wrestling world was announced (Hogan is now in TNA). Also, one of the key players in the X-Division and tag team division was badly injured during the show. In addition, Eric Young had a major announcement about his newly-won Legends title that would forever change the status of the title

TNA opened with a promo for Hogan and then went into the attack on Kurt Angle by Desmond Wolfe. Wolfe, who sounds like Baldrick (Tony Robinson) from Black Adder, attacked Angle, twice, last week.

Desmond came out to a wolf howl into a screaming guitar. Wolfe took the stick and introduced himself to the crowd. He said that he was just Wolfe to his friends, but the fans could call him Mr. Wolfe. He considered himself the “Only Thing”. He said he was raised to be the world’s greatest fighter. Wolfe felt that he was destined to be a champion, which is why he came to TNA. Wolfe said that Kurt Angle didn’t win his gold medal, it was given to him. Wolfe said Angle’s tough guy image is just a facade. Wolfe reminded Angle that he took the fight to him, twice, last week. Wolfe claimed that he became the greatest wrestler in TNA, last week.

Kurt Angle then came out to a great ovation. Angle said that he didn’t know Wolfe before, but he knows who he is now. Angle said he would eliminate Wolfe, tonight. Angle threw respect to A.J. Styles, Hernandez, Matt Morgan and Eric Young. He then told Wolfe that he made a mistake by challenging him. He said “no one comes in my backyard and p*sses in it”. Kurt challenged Wolfe to a Street Fight, later in the night. Angle swore he would beat Wolfe’s *ss like it had never been beaten before.

Lauren talked with Styles about being jumped, last week. Styles didn’t know who attacked him. Samoa Joe. walked in and accused Daniels of being the attacker. Joe stirred the pot by saying that Daniels has resentment and jealousy towards Styles. Styles wouldn’t buy it. Joe set Styles off by suggesting that Daniels was stabbing him in the back.

Awesome Kong was shown destroying Raisha Saeed’s locker room. This went down, last week. This week, Kong was unleashed, solo, for the first time. Mike Tenay and Taz started to run down the show but sent it to a video package of Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan arriving for a historic press conference.

Alissa Flash was waiting in the ring. Tara, along with her pet spider, Poison, made their way down to face her. Tenay pushed the Knockouts in Muscle and Fitness. I’ve seen the issue out at the Pilot Truckstop in Fernley, NV and the women are beautiful.

Tara d Alissa Flash

The Finish:

Flash got caught on the top rope. The two women fought on the ropes and Tara nailed the Superplex. Tara hit a weak Spicoli Driver on Flash. Flash kicked out at two. Tara sent Flash to the ropes and hit a pair of Clotheslines. She followed up with a Snap Suplex. Flash hit a Pump Handle Suplex for a two. Flash cinched in modified Surfboard into a Curb Stomp. Tara lost some of her hair. Tara lifted Flash into a Fireman’s Carry into a spinning Side Slam. Call that…the Web Spinner!

Grade: B+

Jay’s Thoughts: I wish TNA would figure out what the heck they are going to do with Tara. She’s just spinning her wheels (or would that be her webs) so far.

Suddenly, Kong’s music sounded. Kong stormed the ring at a full run. Kong caught Tara in the face with a Full Boot. Kong used the Implant Buster and dropped Tara onto Flash. Kong mouthed “I’m Back”! Kong is out-of-control.

In the back, Team 3D talked about facing The Motor City Machine Guns. Rhino came in and talked about what Hernandez tried to do to him, last week. Rhino whined that TNA wanted to take him out. Rhino mentioned that he had to face Matt Morgan. It was all part of a conspiracy. Brother Ray said they were saving Hernandez from himself. Ray said Rhino was paranoid. Rhino said Team 3D stopped Hernandez because they believed him. Brother Devon said that he didn’t sweat The Guns. Rhino said for them to watch their backs because they are all out to get them.

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley came out for the next match. I will have special notes about this match, after it’s over. TNA showed highlights of last week’s match between The Guns and Lethal Consequences. Team 3D then came out with their IWGP Tag titles.

The Motor City Machine Guns d Team 3D
Non-Title Match

The Finish:

Sabin went to the ropes and Ray caught him for a Uranage Sabin took one Hell of a bump as he landed directly on his neck from the move. Sabin spun a little too far in the move. Devon took the tag and lifted Sabin for a Press Slam. Shelley rushed in and clipped the knee of Devon. Devon gently dropped Sabin as he went down. Shelley took the tag and kicked at Devon’s bad leg. Sabin was down in the corner. The trainer was out checking on Sabin. Shelley with the Step-Over Toe Hold. Devon kicked free and tagged to Ray. Ray hit several hard fists and a Side Slam. Shelley with a Kneelift. Shelley flipped out of a Belly to Back Suplex and nailed a SuoerKick to Ray’s face. Ray kicked out at two. Devon took the tag and limped back into the ring. Devon went for his Amazing Grace Slam but Shelley flipped over. Shelley clipped Devon’s knee and took him down. Shelley went for the Single Leg Boston Crab. Devon slapped the mat in frustration, which the ref mistook for a tap out!

Grade: B+

Jay’s Thoughts: I hated to see Sabin take that nasty bump. Fortunately, he was only stunned (according to TNA) TNA cut Kevin Nash’s nasty rant about the injury. They had to cut something to make room the Hogan thing.

Ray was hot about the decision. The ref refused to reverse or cancel the decision.

In the back, Lauren chatted with Scott Steiner about his issue with Bobby Lashley. Lashley is demanding that Steiner apologize to Lashley’s wife, Crystal. Steiner said he was sorry…that Crystal didn’t know what a real man was. He said he was going to make Crystal his Number One Freak. Steiner said he would be watching Lashley’s match and he had a big surprise for Crystal.

Desmond Wolfe was lacing up his boots in the locker room. He was ready to fight Kurt, later in the night.

Tenay pushed the unique shows on TNA.com. Hermie Sadler interviewed Amazing Red and Don West. Red said he wanted West as his mouthpiece. West said that Red was a good model and he was all that was right about wrestling. I completely and totally agree!

Eric Young came out to defend his Legends title. Taz pushed Eric’s “Big Announcement”. TNA showed how Eric Young did over Kevin Nash to take the title. Nash’s opponent was Bobby Lashley! TNA showcased the situation between Scott Steiner and Bobby Lashley. Crystal Lashley was in the front row for this match.

Eric Young v Bobby Lashley (No Contest)
Legends Title Match

The Finish:

Eric rolled Lashley back into the ring. Eric Shouldered Lashley and slid between Lashley’s legs. Lashley caught Eric and powered him up into a Sideways Torture Rack Gutbuster. Lashley slapped on the Dragon Sleeper but Steiner slid in the ring with a chair. Steiner bashed Lashley with the chair and locked Lashley in the Steiner Recliner.

Grade: C

Jay’s Thoughts: So Steiner is now doing the old Rick Rude courts Cheryl Roberts angle, where the angered hubby, Jake Roberts, comes to battle the rude dude thing. Yawn. Steiner simply is no match for Lashley, period.

The rest of the World Elite joined Eric in the ring. They were all dressed in white, Elvis-like Jumpsuits. It was announced that the British Invasion have been suspended until Turning Point for striking the ref, last week. The Brits were also fined. Eric then took the stick and insulted the US fans. Eric reminded the fans that he just handed Bobby Lashley his first defeat. Huh? Eric was there to make a major announcement. Eric said that the Legends title was no more. It was now the TNA Global Championship. Eric said he would never defend the belt on American soil or against an American wrestler because the fans didn’t deserve him.

Kevin Nash then made his way from the back. Nah was carrying a steel chair. Nash wanted to know about the 60 Grand that Eric promised him. Eric smirked as Nash mentioned that he would not take Bashir’s offer of $50,000 Iranian Dollars (which Nash said was worth about $13.25). Nash wanted to know if this was how Eric did business. Eric said he learned from Nash, who had been doing the same thing for years. Eric said he was just making sure that he didn’t get screwed. Eric told Nash to join him in the ring. Beer Money slid in the ring and attacked the World Elite with chairs. Nash told Eric that he could run but couldn’t hide. The World Elite in their Good Humor uniforms were laid out around ringside.

In the locker room, Daniels walked up to Styles. styles dismissed Joe’s claims but Daniels took the wrong attitude. Daniels felt that Styles was doubting him. Daniels left to settle things with Joe.

The Beautiful People slinked from the back for a six-Knockout battle. This was Lacey Von Erich’s first official match. Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne and Lacey did their sexy ring entrance. The faces to face the Beautiful People were ODB, Christy Hemme and Hamada. TNA went to break before the match got rolling.

Lacey Von Erich, Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne d ODB, Hamada and Christy Hemme
Six Knockout Tag Team Match

The Finish:

Lacey tagged in and Hamada was powered to the corner. She instantly tagged back out to Rayne. Rayne tried to get pins. Sky tagged in and they missed the Double Clothesline. Hamada Dropkicked both Sky and Rayne. Hamada kicked free from the Beautiful People and tagged out to ODB. The Trailer Park Princess Steam Rolled Sky and Rayne and even got a shot in on Lacey. Sky was launched with the Fallaway Slam. ODB with the Kip Up and then checked on her “girls” before hitting a huge Splash in the corner. ODB hit a Bronco Buster and Tenay threw out some interesting new names for the move (Bronco Muncher and Carpet Buster). ODB with a Scoop Slam on Sky and tagged out to Hemme. Rayne took out ODB and Hemme missed the FFG. Sky made the tag to Lacey. Lacey hit one of the weakest Chokeslams in recent history, but it was still enough to get the win.

Grade: C

Jay’s Thoughts: Lacey finally works a match and doesn’t finish it with the Iron Claw? What the heck is up with that? She wins with a pathetic Chokeslam. Lacey lost major points with me on that match.

Kong’s music rang out, again. Kong stormed the ring. The Beautiful People took off. Tara jumped Kong and the two started fighting at ringside. The Security forces ran in and basically got their butts handed to them. Five men couldn’t keep the two women apart. TNA went to break.

The two women were still fighting in the back as TNA returned. TNA then looked at the issues with Abyss/Mick Foley/Dr. Stevie. The Monster’s Ball at Bound For Glory was one seriously brutal battle.

Dr. Stevie then came out for a no-DQ match. Stevie had a microphone. Stevie talked directly to Chris. Stevie said Chris created a monster in him when he hurt Daffney. Abyss didn’t have to be asked twice. Abyss stomped down the ramp and took the battle to Stevie.

Abyss d Dr. Stevie
No Disqualification, Weapons Match

Abyss threw Stevie in the ring. Stevie punched Abyss, who shook it off. Stevie ducked a Clothesline and kicked the shin of Abyss. Stevie went to the ropes and got Clotheslined. Abyss tossed Stevie over the top rope and into the ring barricade. Abyss went to the outside and slammed Stevie’s face into the steel steps. Abyss punched Stevie in the face and Knife Edge Chopped him. Abyss threw Stevie into the ring and told the cameraman to move. Abyss tossed trash cans into the ring. Both cans struck Stevie. Stevie got a chair and threw it into Abyss’ face. Stevie bashed Abyss with a hockey stick. Stevie worked over Abyss’s leg. Stevie tried for a Figure Four but Abyss kicked free. Stevie went for a Tornado DDT but Abyss shoved out. Stevie went for his Stevie Kick (Superkick) but Abyss caught the foot and turned it into the Shock Treatment for the win.

Grade: B-

Jay’s Thoughts: Boring. How can an Extreme Rules be boring? This one was.

Stevie attacked Abyss with a kendo stick, after the match. Mick Foley’s music then played. Foley stomped down to the ring. Foley called for the kendo stick. Instead of nailing Abyss, Foley struck Dr. Stevie! Foley then slid out of the ring. Everyone was confused, none more than Dr. Stevie. Tenay called for JB to talk with Foley as TNA took a break.

JB tried to ask Foley what was going on. Foley would not comment. Foley just laughed and said the situation was just between him and Abyss and that was all the people needed to know. Foley did a Baron Von Raschke imitation, according to Tenay.

Rhino came to the ring for his match. TNA looked at the situation with Hernandez, from last week. Matt Morgan then came out to fight.

Matt Morgan d Rhino

Rhino kicked and punched Morgan. Rhino went to the ropes and ended up running into the brick wall that was Morgan. Morgan popped Rhino and the War Machine fell into the ropes. Morgan hit the Leg Lariat and slid over the ropes. Rhino knocked Morgan off the apron and the two stated fighting on the floor. Rhino and Morgan got in the ring and Rhino went to town on Morgan with kicks and fists. Rhino pounded on Morgan’s back. Tenay brought up the connection between Morgan and Hogan through American Gladiators. Rhino pounded on Morgan in the corner. Morgan with a Back Elbow and a pair of Clotheslines. Morgan with the Side Drop. Morgan Goozled Rhino but Rhino fought free. Rhino hit a Belly to Belly Suplex. Rhino set for The Gore! but ran into the Carbon Footprint! Morgan took the easy pin.

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: And again Rhino jobs to someone. Sad, isn’t it?

Rhino jumped Morgan, after the bell. He hit another Belly to Belly and hit The Gore! Rhino celebrated his attack on Morgan. Morgan clutched his ribs as Hernandez’s music rang out. Rhino took off when SuperMex entered the ring. Rhino grabbed a stick and said only the strong survive. Rhino said no one would take him out. Hernandez lifted Morgan’s hand in victory.

Daniels confronted Samoa Joe. Daniels said he didn’t attack Styles and Joe should know that. Joe stirred the pot by saying that Styles rolled his eyes when Joe suggested that Daniels could hurt him. Joe said that Styles felt that Daniels wasn’t even in his (Styles’) league.

Don West ran down some upcoming cards. He was interrupted by Homicide. Homicide demanded a shot at Amazing Red at Turning Point. Homicide took West’s wallet, stealing a picture of his wife and his money.

JB then talked with Kurt Angle. JB noticed that Kurt was ticked off. Angle said that Wolfe would reach a dead end, tonight. JB suggested that someone brought in Wolfe to take out Kurt. Kurt said JB was just being paranoid.

Lauren ran up and found A.J. Styles, who had been jumped. Styles was out cold. After the break, Lauren said that Styles was being taken to a local hospital to evaluation.

Kurt Angle then rose from the depths of the Impact Zone. Kurt stomped to the ring with a look of determination on his face. The wolf howl went off against to herald the arrival of Desmond Wolfe.

Kurt Angle v Desmond Wolfe (No Contest)

The Finish:

Kurt ran Wolfe into the steel steps. Kurt punched away and chased Wolfe around the ring. Kurt slammed Wolfe into the barrier and tried to throw him into the ring. Wolfe came out with a Back Elbow. Wolfe threw Kurt into the ring. Wolfe threw a brutal Fore-arm Shot and another European Uppercut. Wolfe slapped Kurt in the face. Kurt started punching the Londoner. Wolfe grabbed Kurt’s arm and Power Snapped him down to the mat. Wolfe went for his Clothesline finisher but Kurt ducked an hit the Hat Trick German Suplex. Wolfe came out of nowhere with hit Lariat. Kurt was out. Wolfe screamed at Kurt. Wolfe grabbed the ref and moved him out of the way. Wolfe rolled over Kurt and screamed at him. Wolfe swore he would end Kurt’s career.

Grade: B-

Jay’s Thoughts: So wolfe is a cross between William Regal and JBL? He’s already annoying as all get out to me. Is he going to replace Eric Young as the leader of the World Elite? Is there some dark force working behind the scenes to lead him? This and more on future episodes of “As the Stomach Turns”. Nigel should have taken the WWE offer.

Mike Tenay stated that Chris Sabin was not hurt as bad as originally thought. The commentary was recorded on Thursday morning, while doing the updated commentary for the show. The original show was taped a week back. Sabin did not have a severe neck injury, which is what it originally looked like. TNA went to break before the Hogan press conference.

Eric Bischoff introduced Hulk Hogan. Bischoff is also coming to TNA. Hogan came out and worked the crowd, big time. Hogan introduced his business partner, Dixie Carter. Dixie pushed Hogan’s legacy. Hogan said he felt reborn by his partnership with TNA> They then brought out the head guy from SpikeTV. He was thrilled that Hogan was in the company. Hogan said that he wanted to make TNA bigger than any other wrestling organization (jab at WWE?). Hogan compared TNA to WCW. Hogan avoided saying what his role would be in TNA, wrestler or other position.

Jay’s Thoughts: Bischoff, Hogan, Nash and Russo all working together, again? That sends shivers down my spine and not in a positive way. Somebody call Vinny Mac, there may be a new acquisition in the near future. There is an old saying about learning from our mistakes or we will repeat them. When will they remane the show TNA Thunder?

Final Grade: B-

Final Thoughts: It’s pretty pathetic when they push a major announcement for the whole show and the silly segment gets less than 5 minutes of air time. I think Carter and the Jarretts just signed the death certificate for TNA by bringing in Bischoff and Hogan. They just lost that something special that made them stand out from WWE. Heck, why not get Dusty Rhodes on the phone and bring him in as a booker and totally kill TNA? Ok, now I’m officially cranky.

The ECW (10/27) Extreme Exam
Our resident philosopher takes a look at an exciting edition of the Tuesday Night Delight, ECW

Sheamus made his final appearance on ECW. The main event had Christian defend his ECW title against Yoshi Tatsu.

ECW debuted a new announce team, this week. Matt Striker has taken over for Jim Ross on Smackdown, at least for the time being. JR has had another severe attack of his Bell’s Palsy and is unable to work the announce table. I want to send out my very best wishes to the Hall of Famer for a speedy recovery.

Tony Atlas was introduced by Lauren, the new ring announcer. Tony then brought out (sigh) Abraham Washington and The Abraham Washington Show. Abraham had Tiffany as his special guest. The crowd was overly hostile of Abe. Abe finally accepted that there were “haters” in the crowd. Abe said he would shut his mouth, this week. Tony started laughing. Abe threatened to fire Tony. Abe then brought out Tiffany to new music and video package. Abe started flirting with Tiffany, as did Tony. Abe talked about the criticism that Tiffany has received by ECW being left out of Bragging Rights. She countered that several members of Team Raw and Team Smackdown got their first break on ECW, including John Morrison and Kofi Kingston. Abe asked about Sheamus leaving ECW. Tiffany said she didn’t want anyone in ECW that didn’t want to be there. She said Sheamus would have one final match against Shelton Benjamin before leaving.

As Abe started to talk about Tiffany’s banged up arm, William Regal and the Ruthless Roundtable came out. Regal pleaded for another title shot. Tiffany said her answer has not changed, it was still no. Regal said he was losing his temper with her. Tiffany said Regal might never get another title shot. She dismissed him and left the set. Regal snapped and completely trashed the Abraham Washington set. Regal screamed like a maniac as he tossed furniture around.

Segment Grade: D

Jay’s Thoughts: Why the heck did ECW just waste so much time with a segment that went absolutely nowhere? Poor Tyler Reks and Zack Ryder have to take the night off so this no-talent Arsentio wanna-be can rattle off his boring tripe. I thought ECW got rid of that albatross.

Josh Mathews introduced his new announcing partner, Byron Sexton. Byron has been working down in FCW, recently. Byron has a feel of a young Jonathan Coachman. They sent it to a video package about Yoshi Tatsu.

Sheamus arrived for his final ECW match. The crowd was less than pleasant towards the Celtic Warrior. ECW looked at Shelton Benjamin’s attack on Sheamus, last week. Savannah chatted with Shelton before he went to the ring. Shelton was offended about Sheamus’ comments that he was mediocre. Shelton thought, at first, that Sheamus might be right. After rethinking it, Shelton felt that Sheamus was nothing but a coward. Shelton was determined to give Sheamus a parting gift. Shelton then arrived for the battle.

Sheamus d Shelton Benjamin

The Finish:

Sheamus cinched in a variation of the Rear Chin Lock. Shelton rolled under to break the pressure. Sheamus pounded Shelton’s neck and went to the ropes. Shelton launched Sheamus with an Over-head Belly to Belly Suplex. The two men started exchanging brutal fists. Shelton got the better of it and went for an Irish Whip. Sheamus reversed the move but Shelton took advantage with a Springboarrd Crossbody. Shelton hit a pair of Clotheslines and sent Sheamus to the corner. Shelton hit a Stinger Splash on Sheamus. Shelton missed the 360 Enziguri but did catch Sheamus with a Bridging German Suplex. Sheamus was able to grab the bottom rope. Sheamus dropped Shelton over the top rope and then hit the Bicycle Kick to leave on a high note.

Grade: B+

Jay’s Thoughts: I’m glad to see Sheamus go to Raw but he might be making the jump just a little too early in his career. He really didn’t deal with the top level talent in ECW. He got bogged down with feuds against Goldust and Shelton Benjamin. Shelton should get a chance to move up the ladder, slightly, now that Sheamus is gone. I just hope that don’t go with a rip-off of the A.J. Styles “feeling sorry for myself, I think I should quit” storyline. That was annoying in TNA and it would be just as bad in ECW.

Rosa was still happy to be in ECW. She talked with Gregory Helms about all her shopping and such. Gregory said he was just trying to say hello. Paul and Katie Lea Burchill walked up to Helms. Paul said that he had plans to end the feud with The Hurricane, next week. Paul wanted Helms to be sure that Hurricane would be there. Helms said that there was no doubt that Hurricane would be there.

Byron and Josh sent it to a video package of the 7-on-7 tag match. It felt like rubbing salt in the wound. Big Show turned on his partners to hand the win to Team Smackdown. Savannah then talked with Christian. She mentioned that Christian has really talked positively about Yoshi Tatsu. Christian said that Yoshi earned his way to this title shot. Unlike Regal, Yoshi actually won some matches. Christian said tonight was a lesson in losing that he had to teach Yoshi.

Christian arrived for his title defense. The crowd was hot for “Captain Charisma”. Christian showed respect to those who came before by actually wearing the championship belt, instead of just slinging it over his shoulder. Christian soaked in the adoration of his “peeps” as his music rang out. Yoshi Tatsu then came out in gold and red.

Christian d Yoshi Tatsu
ECW Championship Match

The Finish:

Christian crawled to the corner. Yoshi hit the Flying Double Knees into Christian’s chest. Yoshi then went for his Rolling Bulldog. Christian dodged the Buzzsaw Kick and then took down Yoshi with the Slop Drop. Yoshi still kicked out at two. Yoshi kicked out at Christian and then whipped Christian to the corner. Christian hit the Back Kick and went for another Springboard Sunset Flip. Yoshi rolled through and nailed Christian with a brutal Mafia Kick to the chest. Christian was still able to kick free. Yoshi was getting frustrated. Yoshi missed his finisher kick and Christian tried, again, for the KillSwitch. Yoshi shoved out of the move and Christian ended up in the corner. He slid through the ropes to deliver the Pendulum Kick. Christian with the Morningstar (Flying European Uppercut). Christian got the crowd clapping along with him as he stalked Yoshi. On his third try, Christian finally hit the KillSwitch to retain his title.

Grade: A

Jay’s Thoughts: What a great main event! Yoshi is growing into quite a good wrestler. He will hold either the Intercontinental or US title within 18 months, count on it. I was hoping that Yoshi would take the title, but it wasn’t meant to be. Both men should be proud of their performances

After the match, Christian checked on Yoshi and showed respect to his foe. Suddenly, Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov hit the ring and attacked Christian. They hit the Double Uranage on the ECW champ. Regal then picked up the ECW title and stared at it. He got down into Christian’s face and talked trash to the knocked out champ. Regal held the belt aloft as ECW faded to black.

Final Grade: B

Final Thoughts: Despite a lousy start, ECW turned out to be a pretty good show. I was glad to see that Regal and his goons waited until after the match to attack. I would have given the show a failing grade if they had pulled a typical “Dusty Finish”. It looks like Regal is going to face Christian at Survivor Series, if WWE doesn’t screw over ECW again. It will likely open the show. I’m thinking that Edge, who is already in FCW, will be back on the main roster by Royal Rumble and joining forces with his “brother”, Christian, to face JeriShow.

Peace

The !mpact! 10/22 Insight
Our resident philosopher looks at the aftermath episode to one of the top three Pay-Per-Views of the entire year.

After an amazing Bound For Glory Pay-Per-View, TNA picked up the pieces.and moved forward. One of the biggest independent stars made his TNA debut, under a new identity.

This Week’s Episode: Black Thursday?

The show kicked off with a highlight package for Bound For Glory. As I told my daughter, Jess, and a couple of friends, every match had it’s own “Are you Kidding Me?” moment.

Kurt Angle came out to the ring, alone. He talked about not having “family” with him, this week. This was the one year anniversary of the Main Event Mafia. By all reports, Booker T is gone from TNA. The rest of the Mafia is falling apart around Kurt. Kurt mentioned that the Mafia was misunderstood from day one. Kurt talked about how the Mafia was supposed to stand for respect. He mentioned that some members of the Mafia were in it for recognition and “a place”. Kurt said that he was in it for love of the sport, not ego. Kurt said the Mafia was supposed to be about being the best. Kurt then admitted that he made a mistake about the TNA’s younger guys. He thought that they were just a bunch of punks looking for a hand-out.

He said he now realized that they were young boys that have grown into men. Kurt threw respect to A.J. Styles, saying that Styles has tremendous talent. Angle also talked about the fire and passion that Matt Morgan shows. Kurt said that Matt almost had him at Bound For Glory. Kurt said that the TNA no longer have to prove themselves to him. He said that he wanted to join them in their battles.

Rhino then came down to the ring. Rhino gave Kurt grief about his new attitude. Rhino said the Main Event Mafia is no more. Rhino talked about Booker being out. Rhino said that TNA management wanted the old guys gone. Rhino whined about the young guys taking their spots. Kurt said the TNA guys earned respect. Rhino said that they haven’t earned anything. Rhino grumbled about being replaced by Bobby Lashley.

Team 3D stormed to the ringside area. Brother Ray wanted to rip Rhino apart. Rhino said he did what he did to get Team 3D’s attention. Ray told Rhino that he was paranoid. The crowd gave Rhino Hell for his nasty attitude. Ray grabbed a chair and was ready to bash Rhino. The crowd called for a fight but Rhino said that there wouldn’t be one. Rhino told Team 3D to check the card and find that they aren’t on it. Rhino invited Team 3D to come out and watch Rhino fight Hernandez. Security had to restrain Team 3D. Kurt Angle asked Brother Ray to stop. Rhino said that TNA wanted him gone, but they would have to drag his lifeless body out of the Impact Zone. Rhino then stormed off.

Jay’s Thoughts My daughter has the perfect name for Rhino…Whine-O. His “Poor Lil’ Ol’ Me” rants are annoying. He has lost just about every high profile match in the last couple years. As for Kurt, I guess he’s going for a face turn. It’s not a good move for him. He’s always been better as a nasty heel.

Lauren talked with A.J. Styles and Daniels. She wondered what the two thought of Kurt’s comments. Styles said that if Kurt was sincere, it was a major step forward for the company. Lauren talked about the upcoming three way TNA World title match at Turning Point, which would Daniels, Styles and Samoa Joe. Daniels talked about how great the first Triple Threat between the three of them was incredible. He said the next one would top the first one. Daniels mentioned about almost dying in the ring at Bound For Glory. (He did take one Hell of a bump, landing on his neck after falling from the Ultimate X ropes). Daniels said that he and Styles were ready to face Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash, later in the show.

Mike Tenay talked about the Knockouts being in Muscle and Fitness. I saw the issue at the local superstore , the other day, and the girls are seriously hot in the magazine. Lauren talked with Raisha Saeed about having to fight Awesome Kong. Saeed was offended that Kong wanted to get rid of her and run solo. Saeed told Kong that she (Kong) was the puppet and Saeed would destroy Kong, later in the night. Tenay and Taz ran down the night’s card.

In the entrance tunnel, Homicide attacked Amazing Red. Homicide ran Red into the ring post after a brutal Clothesline. Red caught Homicide with a Superkick. Homicide tried for a Back Body Drop, on the concrete, but Red ended up on the apron, where he Back Kicked Homicide. Homicide brought Red down onto the apron.

Homicide d Amazing Red
Non-Title Match

Taz and Tenay talked about how Homicide trained Red. Homicide with the Scoop Slam but missed a trio of Elbow Drops. homicide launched Red with a Pump Handle Suplex. Homicide threw Red into the corner. Don West rallied the crowd for Red.Homicide Irish Whipped to the corner but missed the Splash. Homicide hit a Snake Eyes on Red and tried for a dirty pin. When the ref saw it, Homicide argued with him. That gave Red the opportunity for a School Boy, which garnered him a two.Red clocked Homicide with a Seated Enziguri. Red Dropkicked Homicide, in the corner, and then took Homicide down with a Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissors. Red ducked a Clothesline and hit a variation of the Superkick. Red then surprised everyone with a modified Canadian Destroyer! Homicide barely kicked out of the pin. Red Irish Whipped Homicide to the corner and went for a Splash. Homicide turned it into an Alabama Slam. Homicide then finished off Red with the Gringo Killa!

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts I’m not thrilled with Homicide’s new heel turn. He’s just becoming a foul-tempered thug that disgraces his massive talent with a stereotype character that annoys everyone. I’m still waiting for Don West to turn on Red and do him dirty. It’s really nice to see Red get his chance to shine.

Lauren chatted with Scott Steiner. She asked Scott is the Main Event Mafia was over. Scott said that the mafia would exist as long as Steiner was in TNA. Steiner wouldn’t give credit to the young kids. Steiner called Matt Morgan “Mike”. Steiner said he was ready to beat Morgan until he didn’t know his own name.

To the ringside area where Matt Morgan was making his entrance. Morgan really impressed me at Bound For Glory. He actually held his own against Kurt Angle. The siren wailed to herald the arrival of Steiner.

Matt Morgan d Scott Steiner

The Finish:

Morgan caught Steiner with a Short-arm Clothesline. Morgan Clotheslined Steiner and hit a Splash in the corner. Morgan nailed the Discus Clothesline. Morgan placed Steiner on the ropes and hit the Leg Lariat. The two went to the floor and fought next to Crystal. Steiner stopped and went back to Mrs. Lashley. He grabbed her and forced her to touch his chest. Bobby Lashley rushed down and went to town on Steiner. Steiner went to the eyes and tried for an Irish Whip. Lashley reversed it and Steiner struck the steel. Lashley threw Steiner into the ring and jumped on the apron. Morgan took advantage and took out Steiner with the Carbon Footprint!

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: So, Steiner gets to be the next stepping stone on Lashley’s “Goldberg Push”? Steiner deserves much better than that.

Lauren interviewed Awesome Kong. Kong took the stick. Kong said “No More Orders! Tonight, Finish!” TNA went to break.

Lauren tried to apologize to the Lashleys. Bobby said that TNA didn’t need to apologize, Scott Steiner needed to. Lashley told Scott that this was a game that he (Scott) didn’t want to play.

Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash came out for the tag team war. TNA looked back to Bound For Glory for for the screw-job by Eric Young Young double-crossed Nash to take the Legends title. A.J. Styles then arrived through the shower of sparks. He was joined by his long-time friend and partner, Daniels.

Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash d A.J. Styles and Daniels

The Finish

Tenay mentioned that Eric Young did not pay off the $60,000 that he promised Kevin Nash. Joe punched at Styles, who answered with punches of his own. Joe hit a Fore-arm Smash and tagged out. Nash hit a hard Fore-arm. Nash had a broken hand. Nash threw repeated Kneelifts in the corner. Nash then hit multiple Back Elbows to stun Styles. Styles kicked Nash and started punching. Nash cut him off with another Kneelift. Styles hit the Springboard Flying Fore-arm. Daniels called for the tag, which he got. Daniels took down both Joe and Nash with Leg Lariats and Fore-arm Shots. Nash reversed an Irish Whip but Daniels ended up Corner Clotheslining Joe. Daniels then shoved Joe into Nash and took them both down with a Flying Clothesline. Nash accidentally DDT’d his partner in the move. Daniels only got a two count. Daniels went to the ropes, only to get Clotheslined by Nash. Styles took out Joe, on the floor, with a Springboard Moonsault off the ropes. Daniels Enziguri’d Nash and went for the tag. Styles wasn’t there and Daniels ended up on the wrong end of a Chokeslam. Nash took the pin.

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts: I smell a Daniels heel turn coming. TNA needs to quit throwing out so many gray hats. Make them either black hats (heels) or white hats (faces).

Lauren talked with Nash, after the match. Nash said Eric stole his belt and his 60 Grand. Nash warned Eric that he was looking for him.

JB pushed the TNA text service. Eric rushed in and told Nash that he wasn’t hard to find. Eric said that he was the leader of the most dominant force in TNA. Eric said he had a major announcement for next week that would rock TNA to its core. He finished with “Vini, Vidi, Vici”…”We Came, We Saw, We Conquered! (I didn’t sleep through every second of High School Latin, just most of them).

Lauren interviewed Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley about their Tag Team Ultimate X match against Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed. It was a first for TNA. Chris talked about the Machine Gun Movement. Sabin said that they did double duty at Bound For Glory. Shelley, with an injured throat, croaked out that they out to make a name for themselves.

TNA went to a video package for The Beautiful People’s new film project, The Meanest Girls. It was a fluff piece about harassing the catering crew and Taylor Wilde and Sarita. The girls went all over the catering area. It turned into a serious food fight. Taz was doing his best Jerry Lawler imitation as the girls poured food all over the Knockout Tag Champs.

Raisha Saeed was already in the ring. Kong waited in the backstage area. She stormed towards the ring as TNA went back to break.

Awesome Kong d Raisha Saeed

Kong stormed to the ring as the crowd cheered her. Saeed was nervous as Kong stomped towards the ring. TNA showed how Saeed cost her the Knockouts title on Sunday. Kong blasted Saeed, who tried to crawl away. Kong sent Saeed around with the Giant Swing. Kong missed a Big Boot and a Splash. Saeed kept rolling to stay away from Kong. Saeed hit several Fore-arm Shots and a Dropkick to the knee. Kong then caught Saeed’s foot. Both went for Spinning Back Fists but missed. Kong Brick Walled Saeed and went to the corner. Saeed popped Kong in the race and kicked her, repeatedly. Saeed hit a Legdrop from the corner and drove Kong to the mat. Wow! Saeed kicked at Kong and climbed the turnbuckles. Saeed flew off the ropes…right into Kong’s knees. Kong went for the Double Underhook but Saeed spun free. Saeed went to the ropes and almost found herself in an Awesome Bomb. Saeed tried to Sunset Flip Kong but couldn’t get the 275 pounder over. Kong squashed Saeed with the Sit Down Splash. Kong finished off her now-former manager with the Implant Buster.

Grade: B

After the match, Kong dragged Saeed up the ramp. Kong kicked away at Saeed as they went to the top of the ramp. Kong Powerbombed Saeed through the pyro area of the entrance ramp. Saeed was down and seriously out. The ref called for help for Saeed. The trainer asked her if she was ok. She slipped and said “It’s not broken” She was saying something else, out of character, but TNA went to break.

Jay’s Thoughts: It looks like TNA is getting ready to eliminate the Raisha Saeed character and have the Alissa Flash become the dominant character in the Saeed/Flash/Cheerleader Melissa group.

Raisha Saeed was taken out on a stretcher. Rhino was then introduced for the next match. He was set to battle “SuperMex”, Hernandez. Team 3D were at the announce table to watch the match. Ray said that Rhino gave him a concussion on Sunday. Hernandez came out in his old outfit. No more red, white and green. He was back to the tank top and khaki shorts.

Hernandez d Rhino

The Finish:

Hernandez rolled rhino back in the ring and started to climb back into the ring. Rhino kicked the middle rope up into Hernandez’s nether regions and the big man fell to the mat. Rhino stomped away at Hernandez and choked him with the boot. Rhino rammed Hernandez’s face into the turnbuckle and then Snap Mared him to the middle of the ring. Rhino Scoop Slammed Hernandez and went to the ropes. Rhino missed the Benoit Flying Headbutt. Hernandez hit a pair of Clotheslines and sent Rhino to the corner. Hernandez hit a Big Splash and a Spinebuster. Rhino managed to kick out at two. Rhino sent Hernandez to the corner and Speared him. Hernandez rolled up the turnbuckles and sat on the top one. Rhino jumped Hernandez and tried for the Superplex. Hernandez shoved Rhino off and hit the Top Rope Splash to take the win.

Grade: B

Jay’s Thoughts: First, Hernandez loses his push, now he’s lost his tri-colored ring gear. I guess he hopes of a title run are all but gone, now. He needs a partner and a chance to go after one of the two tag belts.

Rhino jumped Hernandez, after the match. Rhino planted Hernandez with the Belly to Belly and set for the Gore!. Hernandez side stepped it and tore off his shirt. Hernandez went for the Border Toss. Devon and Ray rushed in to prevent the move. The fans weren’t happy. Ray told Hernandez that he had a bright future ahead of him. Team 3D raised Hernandez’s hands in victory.

JB talked with Kurt Angle. Kurt admitted he was wrong. JB talked about Rhino’s issue that TNA wanted to replace the veterans. Kurt said he thought Rhino was just under confident. Desmond Wolf (Nigel McGuiness) walked in and introduced himself. Wolf said he got into wrestling because of Kurt. Kurt welcomed Wolf to TNA. Wold then attacked Kurt with European Uppercuts and Fore-arm Shots. JB asked Wolf if he was out of his mind. Wold walked off without comment.

TNA looked at the attack on Kurt from the last segment. Then it moved forward to Lethal Consequences v The Motor City Machine Guns in the first Tag Team Ultimate X Match.

Sabin and Shelley d Lethal and Creed
Tag Team Ultimate X Challenge Match

The Finish:

Lethal fought out of the Double Team but Shelley got a Knife Edge Chop in to stagger Lethal. Lethal was Double Whipped to the corner but he was able to get the boots up for both members of the Motor City Machine Guns. Creed hit a Springboard Missile Dropkick to Sabin but Shelley caught Creed with a vicious Back Heel Kick to the face. Lethal kept Shelley from going up the turnbuckles. Lethal launched Shelley with a Release Dragon Suplex. Sabin drilled Lethal with an Enziguri. Sabin followed that with a Springboard Tornado DDT! Lethal rolled to the apron. Creed hit a Clothesline on Sabin. Creed hit a Thrust Kick and Lethal joined him for a Cradle Powerbomb. Sabin fought off both opponents, kicking Creed in the face. Lethal tripped Sabin and locked in a Boston Crab. Creed started up the truss but Shelley stopped him. The Guns worked together to hit a Springboard variation of the Doomsday Device. Sabin started to climb to the Ultimate X ropes. Lethal caught him, brought him down and applied the Lethal Combination. Shelley, meanwhile, was starting up the other side. Lethal rushed over and started pounding on Shelley. Shelley hit Sliced Bread off the truss on Lethal, while Sabin also Powerbomb Lethal! Shelley grabbed his knee in pain as Sabin started up the truss. Sabin seemed dizzy just before he jumped for the Ultimate X ropes. He started to scoot across the ropes but Creed went to stop him. It was too late as Sabin grabbed the “X” and dropped down to the canvas to take the future title shot for his team.

Grade: A+

Jay’s Thoughts These two teams deserve to be in the tag title hunt. They are great in the X-Division but the tag scene is getting rather stale. The Guns now get a shot at the tag belts at the next PPV. Well, maybe they will. I don’t want to totally spoil things but one of the Guns got hurt pretty bad at a TV taping, after this show.

Don West ran down some upcoming events. Lauren then congratulated the British Invasion about winning the TNA World Tag Titles. Doug talked about being able to eliminate the Main Event Mafia. Brutus said that they would make Beer Money both sober and poor. Brutus Magnus mocked Beer Money by saying “Sorry ’bout your Bloody Lock”. JB then talked with Roode and Storm, Beer Money. Roode said that they weren’t worried about facing the Brits inside the steel cage. Storm asked the Brits “Who’s Yer Daddy?” Storm told the Brits to “Take out the tampon and grow a set”. “Sorry about your Damn Luck”.

Both teams arrived for the steel cage title match. The match would get going, after a set of commercials.

Beer Money, Inc. d The British Invasion (by DQ)
Six Sides of Steel for the TNA World Tag Titles

The Finish:

Doug went to the top of the cage and Storm rocked Brutus with a Jumping Enziguri. Storm rushed up to get Doug. Brutus slid underneath Storm for an Electric Chair from the ropes. Roode went for a Powerbomb on Brutus. Storm, meanwhile, hit a UltraPlex off the top of the cage. All four men crashed to the canvas. It was a monster Tower Of Doom! The crowd exploded at the huge move. Beer Money nailed their DWI finisher but Brutus stopped the ref from counting. Brutus slugged the ref, Slick Johnson. Earl Hebner, along with other refs, came out to check on Johnson. Hebner, as senior ref, disqualified the British Invasion. Beer Money won the match, but the Brits kept the gold.

Grade: A-

Jay’s Thoughts: That match would have had a much higher rating but that lousy finish really ruined it. I’m curious to see what the future holds for Roode and Storm. Chris Harris has been making backstage appearances, of late. I wonder if America’s Most Wanted will face the British Invasion in the near future. As for Roode, I expect him to feud with Eric Young, eventually.

The Brits mocked Beer Money. In the back, Kurt Angle walked towards the entrance area…in full ring gear!

Lauren caught up to A.J. Styles. She tried to push an issue between Styles and Daniels. Styles blew it off. Styles was jumped as he put his gear in his car. It was impossible to see who jumped him.

Jay’s THoughts: Nothing like a over-cliched “Who Done It” storyline.

Tenay and Taz ran down next week’s card. Kurt came out yelling that no one was going to make a name off him. Kurt called out Wolf as the cage was being taken apart. Kurt took off his medals and waited for Desmond Wolf. Kurt went out to find Wolf. Wolf Blind Sided Angle and then went to the ring. Angle jumped Wold and ran him into the announce table. Angle threw Wolf into the ring. Wolf hit a nasty Low Blow on Angle. Wolf put Angle on the top rope and hit a Rope-Assisted Diamond Cutter on Angle. Wolf grabbed a steel chair and got back in the ring. Rolf put the chair into Angle’s throat and threatened to slam it into the throat. Wolf told Angle to think about him…Wolf, Desmond Wolf!

Jay’s Thoughts: Desmond/Nigel gets the gold star for best debut in a major federation in many years. Why not go after one of the top guys in the business, right off the bat.

Final Grade: A-

Final Thoughts: TNA followed up a fantastic PPV with an above average Impact. I think Wolf is going to make things really interesting in TNA. Angle really needed a good feud to get back on top. This one’s going to push both men. TNA’s title pictures are a bit hazy, right now, but they should smooth out in the next few months. TNA is gettting even closer to being on par with WWE. It may never happen, but they are putting on shows that are much better than WWE, these days.

Peace
