What Happened NXT — The Semi-Finals

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, looks at the penultimate edition of WWE’s failed experiment, NXT.

Well, this train wreck is almost cleared off the tracks. NXT has two weeks left to bore the fans to tears and then they will pick the “next WWE superstar”. This week, one of the Final Four got the boot. Which one would go? And…would Daniel Bryan really apologize to Michael Cole. Read on, McDuff.

My Over the Limit Predictions

Our resident philosopher breaks out his crystal ball, tea leaves adn lucky coin to examine and predict the outcomes of the various matches in WWE’s newest Pay-per-View.

The show has gone through several name changes before reaching Over the Limit. This is basically a serious re-hash PPV. Most of the matches are just the repeats of many of the matches from the last few PPVs. Let’s take a look.

What Happened on the 5/18 NXT show

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, looks at who was the next kid to get his walking papers on WWE’s Lame Duck Show…NXT.

The dominoes continued to tumble as NXT released yet another pretender to the throne. The five men were on pins and needles as they had to show off for the pros to keep their spot.

Matt Striker brought out the pros to talk about what they look for in the Rookies. They all basically said the same thing: exciting, entertaining and the ability to keep the WWE Universe’s attention.

The Impact Insight Returns!

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, resurrects his old TNA Recap/Analysis column for TNA. The show is now back on Thursdays.

TNA is rushing towards the annual Slammiversary mega-show. The pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place, this week. Plus, an old favorite returned to the Knockout division. TNA also announced the Top 10 contenders to the TNA World Title.

The show opened with a look at Sacrifice. Tara was gone after the show. Jeff Jarrett was taken to the hospital, a beaten and bloody mess. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall somehow retained the World Tag Team titles. RVD got past A.J. Styles, thanks to Jay Lethal neutralizing Ric Flair.

My Sacrifice Predictions

Our resident philosopher looks at the next TNA Pay Per View. He picks the winners and makes a few predictions about future storyline possibilties.

TNA is back with another semi-gimmick Pay-per-view. Not all the matches have goofy stipulations but many do. This PPV made some major changes after Thursday’s Impact. There are new tag champs, thanks to a Feast or Fired briefcase that has been in storage for months. This show is basically the set-up for the Slammiversary show. Let’s take a look at this B-Grade PPV and see what just might happen.

Beer Money v Motor City Machine Guns v. Team 3D
#1 Contender Match

Predictions: I have to think that the winner of this one gets a title shot at Slammiversary. With wCw (We Control Wrestling) aka The Band just winning the straps, I would imagine the TNA really wants to roll out the big guns for the next PPV. With that in mind, I really expect Team 3D to take this one and move forward to challenge for the belts.

Predicted Winner: Team 3D
Predicted Grade: B- (basically an Impact Hour Turner-level match)

The Monday Night War Ends

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, looks at the final round of Monday Night battles.

Opening Segment:

TNA: Jay Lethal came out to do a fantastic Ric Flair imitation. Flair came out, ticked off, and beat the daylights out of him. This led to a multi-segment gang war between Team Hogan and Team Flair.

RAW: Batista came out and grumbled about John Cena doing him over with the whole Duct Tape thing. Miz then came out and said he was so injured from Big Show’s shot to the jaw that he needed a proxy to battle for him. Out comes Daniel Bryan. Bryan works a great match but ended up losing.

Winner: RAW

Monday Night Wars Analysis

The Monday Night Wars Analysis for April 26,2010

Our resident philosopher compares the two Monday Night wrestling programs on several key components and picks the weekly winner.

Raw offered up it’s annual 3-hour Draft special. TNA countered with the beginning of the Rob Van Dam era. Raw threw out several “Draft Pick” battles, while TNA brought Ric Flair out of retirement, yet again, to face a Monster. Let’s compare the two and see who was better.

Opening Segment

RAW: The Hart Dynasty d Big and Awesome for the Unified Tag Team titles. Bret Hart dissed Miz, The Mountie and David Arquette in one little rant that was one of the best disses that I’ve heard in a long time. After the match, Big Show busted Miz in the jaw, dissolving ShowMiz for good. (Show would later be Drafted over to Smackdown)

TNA: Hulk Hogan came out and pushed RVD to the extreme. RVD then came out and talked about how some people didn’t understand his lifestyle and personal choices. Whatever. A.J. Styles and Ric Flair came out to rant and rave. Same ol’ Same ol’.

Winner: RAW

What Happened NXT

Our resident philosopher looks at the latest episode of WWE’s latest failure, NXT.

NXT is rushing, head-long, towards it’s conclusion. The Eliminations start in a couple weeks and the Rookies are doing their best to impress the Pros, if not the fans/

Matt Striker waited in the ring. The crowd was actually kinda into the show. Striker introduced the Rookies. Heath Slater got the best pop of the eight. Striker talked about 10 Million people checking out Skip Sheffield on WWE. com. This week, it was time for the Seal the Deal Challenge. The Rookies had to sell merchandise for 60 seconds. The winner would be the person with the most money in their hand at the end of the time period. The winner would get a chance to battle the Pro of their choice,, next week. All 8 took turns running around the arena, selling stuff. Skip Sheffield got the chance to hawk programs at $15 each. He ended up earning $60.

The Monday Night Wars (04/19/2010) Analusis

Our resident philosopher compared the two Monday night wrestling shows and picks the weekly winner.

Thanks to the volcano in Iceland, almost all the Raw superstars were stuck in Ireland. WWE brought in the Smackdown guys to run the show. TNA offered up two former World Champions facing off to get a shot at A.J. Styles’ World title.

Opening Segment

RAW: Triple H came out and did an extended comedy skit, in which he humiliated C.M. Punk and others.

The Monday Night Wars Analysis for April 12, 2010

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, compares the two Monday night shows and picks a weekly winner.

Opening Segment

TNA: Jeff Jarrett came out and threatened to beat an answer out of Sting for why he joined Flair’s forces. Jeff went up onto the catwalk and ambushed Sting. They fought down the stairs and to the ring. Jarrett was taking the fight to the Sting until the lights went out. When they came back up, Sting had his black baseball bat. He went ballistic on Jarrett, beating him silly with the bat. The rest of Team Hogan ran down to make the save. Typical opening for TNA.
