Katz Files: My Weekly TNA Notebook!

The Katz Files – Arnie Katz

My Weekly TNA Notebook

The Kingfish Arnie Katz presents his analysis of topics raised by the 11/13 episode of iMPACT

After a video recalled the Main Event Mafia’s triumph at Turning Point Jeremy Borash came on live with Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley.

Double J said it didn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get back up again.

Mick Foley blasted Alex Shelly for not taking things seriously enough.

The Kingfish Comments: At times Jeff Jarrett acts like he doesn’t care. That’s not too likely, so perhaps he is a little rusty and sometimes loses focus. This time, though, he was right on the topic and said something meaningful.

The scenes with him and Foley have not bee as strong as might’ve been hoped. This could be due to the writing;. It sometimes seems like Jarrett doesn’t have anything prepared and, when he wings it, sometimes he comes off as distant and uninvolved.

OWW Wrestler of the Week: Eric Young

HeadLocker — Jay Shannon

OWW’s Wrestler of the Week: Eric Young

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, looks at the new X-Division champion, Eric Young. The TNA Original upset Sheik Abdul Bashir for the X-Division title.

Eric Young is a very talented wrestler. The Canadian superstar has gone through numerous gimmick changes in the past few years. Regardless of the silly gimmicks, Eric has remained one of the most visible personalities in TNA. This week, he took the X-Division title from Sheik Abdul Bashir (with a little help from ref, Shane Sewell). Thanks to his X-title win, as well as years of dedication, Eric Young is this week’s pick for the OWW Wrestler of the Week award.

About the Report Cards

Each month, I issue a report card for TNA. I examine and grade the promotion in all the vital areas. I discuss strengths and weaknesses and chart the ups and downs. The grades in parentheses are for the previous report card. The grades in parentheses represent the previous report card.

Now that the pay per view is past, let’s take a close look at how the promotion is doing in key areas:

Katz Files: My Turning Point Report & Analysis!

The Katz Files – Arnie Katz

Turning Point : Report & Analysis!

The Kingfish Arnie Katz recaps the important happening at TNA’s November pay per view and delves into the meaning of what we saw and heard!.

Let’s look at what happened – and why:

The pre-show concentrated on the ramifications of the feud between the TNA originals and the Main Event Mafia. Videos recapped the story and set up the main matches on the card that are an outgrowth of that storyline.

The Kingfish Comments: It makes no sense to show the same videos as many as five times during the half-hour show – and then showing them again during the actual pay per view! TNA does some nice vids, but they have no impact by the time fans have seen them repeatedly.

TNA Turning Point PPV Recap 11/9

The theme song for this PPV is Indestructible by Disturbed, and the music video is played throughout the preshow.  The show opens with a video montage of clips from the action leading up to the PPV cut in with comments from the wrestlers involved in the TNA Originals vs. Main Event Mafia feud.

Jeremy Borash is at the entrance, trying to get comments from the Main Event Mafia as they arrive, but Scott Steiner is the only one who will talk to him.  Scott says this war is all about respect, and they are going to end it tonight, because “these young punks, they don’t have what it takes to step in the ring with the Main Event Mafia!”  Then he tells JB to get their bags.

My Turning Point : Preview & Predictions

The Kingfish Arnie Katz gets you ready for TNA’s November pay per view event!.

Turning Point, TNA’s November pay per view isn’t one of the company’s highest-profile events, but it could prove crucial this time. The reason is the war between the Main Event Mafia and the TNA Originals.

The feud has begun and it sure looks like this PPV will be the first major battle in this struggle for respect and control.

Shannon: Turning Point Predictions

HeadLocker — Jay Shannon

Nt TNA’s Turning Point Oreductions!

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, breaks out his handy dandy crystal ball to try and sort out the latest pay-per-view offering from TNA.

I’ve been batting around .500 when it comes to predictions lately. This PPV seems pretty easy to pick the winners and losers. Since it seems so cut and dried,TNA is likely going to throw a few swerves at the crowd.

X-Division Seeding Match

This match is going to set the pecking order for the X-Division. There are two ways that TNA might go with this one. They’ve been pushing the arrival of Suicide in the last few weeks. In the video game, which I’ve finally finished, Suicide does battle for and win the X-title. If he’s introduced, I’d say it’s a lock that he takes the win and becomes the number one contender.
