The Iron Sheik is doing a Piper’s Pit segment tonight on Raw. He also filmed some pre tapes running down Hulk Hogan…

Hall of Famer Pat Paterson and comedian Judah Friedlander are backstage along with several members of the New York Yankees baseball team. In an effort to free up more seats they are going for an old-school look tonight with no big screen, no stage, and no ramp way.

WWE and NBC Universal today announced a renewal agreement to keep Raw on the USA Network through 2014. WWE sent out a release spinning that their overall ratings are up 11 percent this year because of the popularity of the guest host gimmick, when in fact it’s entirely down to the addition of the new Superstars show on WGN.

An NBC rep confirmed that they are in early talks with WWE about launching a WWE channel on it’s Universal HD network. Speculation arose stemming from an article today on the LA Times website.

Jesse Ventura was announced as guest host in two week’s for a Thanksgiving themed Raw the night after Survivor Series in Hershey, PA.
It’s a three-hour show with all three brands involved. Ventura will be promoting his new television show, Conspiracy Theory on truTV.

Edge appeared to be moving around okay this past weekend at the Kids Choice Awards in Australia. He even ran along the stage as he made his entrance to referee a celeb tug-of-war contest. Eve Torres also appeared on stage and was slimed.

Good news for UK readers. BskyB said they have no plans to raise the price of WWE PPV in the near future. The price remains at £14.63 or
21.48 Euros on Sky Box Office. WWE and BskyB are also expected to announce a renewal of their TV contract in the next few week’s.

Former Diva Ashley Massaro wrote on her Twitter that she was going to Raw tonight.

Lisa Taylor who was squashed last week by Beth Phoenix on Smackdown is Lisa Fury; a former model from Liverpool who has been active on the UK and European indy circuit for several years. Her grandfather was also wrestler in the 1950s and 60s as Tony Fury.

Superstars last week did a 0.9 rating, up 0.1 on the week before.

The WWE stock closed today up $0.50 to $15.99 it’s highest close in two years.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

11/15 Turning Point PPV results from Orlando, FL: Amazing Red over Homicide to retain the X-Division title; ODB, Taylor Wilde & Sarita over The Beautiful People; The British Invasion over Beer Money and The Machine Guns to retain the tag tiles; Tara over Awesome Kong in a steel cage; Team 3D & Rhino over Hernandez, Matt Morgan & D’Angelo Dinero; Scott Steiner over Bobby Lashley; Kurt Angle over Desmond Wolfe; and AJ Styles over Samoa Joe & Daniels in a three-way to retain the TNA title.

Announced for Thursday’s Impact: Taylor Wilde vs. Hamada; Beer Money & The Machine Guns vs. The British Invasion, Sheik Bashir & Kiyoshi; and AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe & Daniels. There is also an interview with Sting talking about Hogan coming in and the return of Mick Foley after being burned by Raven.

The television tapings are today and Tuesday in Orlando.

***

Everyone was raving about the PPV last night, and even some WWE people, one of whom told me they couldn’t understand how the company let TNA sign away Desmond Wolfe. Tazz even wrote on his Twitter that Turning Point was in the Top 3 of PPV’s that he has ever witnessed live (just think about that for a second), and Dixie Carter was calling Angle-Wolfe and Styles-Daniels-Joe matches of the year.

Angle said that he threw out his back early in his match although he isn’t expected to miss any time. No real serious injuries coming out of the PPV.

Superstar Billy Graham who has just relocated to Florida didn’t attend the PPV as he is back in hospital with intestinal problems.

TNA has booked a show at Stampede Park in Calgary, Alberta on March 27, which is Wrestlemania weekend. One person who is clued in on the Calgary wrestling scene told us: “Stu [Hart] promoted wrestling events during the Calgary Stampede for decades, but there haven’t been any major wrestling shows in the area as of late that weren’t WWE shows, and even their recent run drew poorly. The Harts haven’t had much involvement in Stampede Wrestling in years now, and attendance to those shows was no different to any other local indy… I’d imagine they’ll get one of the Harts or more to appear at the show in some capacity. Several of them still live in the area, including Bruce and Ross.”

Hulk Hogan landed in Sydney, Australia a few hours ago which is now early Tuesday morning ahead of Wednesday’s press conference. The conference takes places at 11am at Star City in Melbourne… I sent a few texts to friends down under earlier today (mostly casual wrestling
fans) and only one person out of six knew anything about the Hulkamania tour. One response was: “To do what? Is he still fighting? He must be like 80!” Advance ticket sales aren’t great for the size of the arenas they are running. They may do okay with walk-ups but nothing is close to a sell-out.

ODB and Daffney will be signing autographs at the Boston Super Megafest on November 21 at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel in Worcester, MA.

ailments, and that he may never fight again. White mentioned some type

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gave an interview to UK press saying that he
sang Spice Girls songs to warm his voice up while recording Sony’s
animated movie Planet 51. “I sang Spice Girls’ reunion tour while I was
in the car, all the way,” he joked, adding: “It’s about a 45 minute
drive so I was ready.”

There is a story on Nick Hogan in the latest Life & Style magazine.
Regarding his stint in jail last year he was quoted as saying: “Jail was
definitely one of the worst experiences of my life, but it was also one
of the best things that ever happened to me – just because of how much
it changed me.”

Mike Caldwell tells us: ‘During last nights Indianapolis Colts/ New
England Patriots football game the announcer said that #61 Stephen Neal
defeated Brock Lesnar in the final match of an NCAA Wrestling Event.’

So Cal Val, Angelina Love, Shane Douglas, and The Rock & Roll Express
will be signing autographs at the Point Flea market in Baltimore from
9am on November 14.

Stacy Keibler and boyfriend Geoff Stults (not Hornswoggle) made gossip
columns over the weekend for partying in San Francisco. One columnist
reported, “the duo drank cocktails in the VIP area, surrounded by
friends – and distractions. At one point, Keibler got her hair and
makeup touched up by someone from the Rogue Lifestyle Galleries.”

Keibler has just landed a guest role on the 100th episode of the CBS
sitcom How I met Your Mother.

WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

11/14 Smackdown house show results from Dublin, Ireland: John Morrison over Matt Hardy; Shelton Benjamin over Zack Ryder; Drew McIntyre over Finlay; Mickie James & Katie Lea over Michelle McCool & Beth Phoenix; Ezekiel Jackson over Goldust; Rey Mysterio over Dolph Ziggler; Christian over William Regal; R-Truth over Eric Escobar in literally five seconds; and The Undertaker over CM Punk in a casket match. Show drew around 10,000. Jericho was advertised but didn’t appear.

***

The Iron Sheik is booked for Monday’s Raw at Madison Square Garden.

WWE received some negative press in the Middle East this past week after they had promised fans in Israel a live event to help keep to wrestling on television which is currently opposed by religious groups. WWE reps were quoted saying that they would be unable to run any shows due to a travel warning issued by the government. This led to some fans calling for people to boycott WWE in the country until they come over for a show.

The Great Khali has agreed to become the brand ambassador of the Special Olympics. Organisers hope his presence will inspire challenged children and would also add to the attraction of their quadrennial events – held next summer and winter. Khali is currently in India to attend his younger brother’s wedding.

Chavo Guerrero wrote a blog in tribute to the four-year passing of Eddie Guerrero on Friday: “Four years ago today I woke to something horrible.
I found my uncle, my brother, my friend, dead in a Minneapolis hotel room. My life went into an immediate tailspin. I can’t even imagine how his wife and kids felt. The Chavo that woke up that morning, died right along side of Eddie. I was changed forever. Sometimes, I feel it’s for the better, sometimes worse, but either way… changed. All of a sudden, I was alone in the wrestling world. A world that can eat you up and spit you out if you let it. The brother that always looked after me and showed me the ropes was gone. I was blessed enough to have boarded my connection flight in Phoenix and saw Eddie sitting there. It put an instant smile on my face. We were able to spend the flight and cab ride after together. We checked into the hotel and made plans to workout in the morning. We kissed and said “I love you” and went to our own rooms.
That was the last time I saw my uncle alive. Needless to say, I barely remember the next day. I realize now that the chance run-in was a gift from God. A chance to spend one last night with my brother before he was called home. I miss you Eddie as I’m sure many other people do too. Save a spot in heaven for me. You can show me the ropes there too.”

Some injury notes from developmental. Kaval (Low Ki) was back working house shows this weekend following reconstructive knee surgery. Wes Brisco recently broke his arm and is wearing a cast. Justin Angel has a knee injury and is on crutches, and Dylan Klein has a shoulder issue.

The UK Daily Star at http://tinyurl.com/yjn2m72 has a story on Big Show with this gem: “Tours have changed a lot. In the old days we used to go out and tear it up in bars. Now the younger guys just go to their rooms and play Guitar Hero.” Sure they do.

WWE and THQ have just come to terms on a deal where THQ would retain the WWE video game license through 2014.

Palm Beach, FL.

Tara was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in her hometown of
Rialto, CA on Saturday.

There was a major screw up on Virgin One in the UK over the weekeend as
they aired a 4-week old episode of Impact. The channel said this was due
to technical difficulties so that usually means there was a fault with
the tapes or they didn’t receive them.

Stephanie Bellars (Gorgeous George in WCW) was hanging out backstage at
the Friday night house show in Wayne, NJ.

The Baltimore Sun has a Q&A with former Headbanger Mosh, Chaz Warrington
at http://tinyurl.com/ygfc9cj. On whether he is a fan of today’s
product: “Being a fan of the business – that’s tough to say yes or no.
I’m a fan of old-school business. I believe in getting in the ring and
performing and actually being able to tell a story in a match and not
just going out there and flying around and doing a bunch of meaningless
high spots. If I’m flipping through the channels and I see somebody I
know or that I still talk to, I’ll watch it. If it’s two guys that I
really don’t know or the match just doesn’t make sense to me, I can’t
watch it and I turn it off.”

Showtime All-Star Wrestling out of Nashville announced Dutch Mantell as
their new booker. The group runs in Lewisburg on November 26 with
Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Superstar Bill Dundee.

Jessie Ventura was a guest on Opie and Anthony this past week espousing
his belief that the U.S. government arranged the 9/11 attacks.
Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory premieres on TruTV on December 2 at 10pm ET.

Dwayne Johnson is a guest on the syndicated Ellen Degeneres Show on
Tuesday. He is doing a lot of press over the next two weeks promoting
Sony’s new animated movie Planet 51 which he voiced with Jessica Biel.

Here is a photo of Jeff Hardy’s new haircut

WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

11/13 Smackdown TV results from Sheffield, England: CM Punk over R-Truth; Natalya over Mickie James; Drew McIntyre vs. Finlay was a DDQ; Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison was a DCO; Beth Phoenix over Lisa Taylor; and The Undertaker over Chris Jericho.

11/12 Raw house show results from Birmingham, England: Big Show won a battle royal; The Hurricane over Paul Burchill; The Miz beat MVP; Melina & Gail Kim over Jillian & Alicia Fox; Chris Jericho over Evan Bourne over; DX & Kofi Kingston over Randy Orton & Legacy; and John Cena over Big Show.

Thanks to Matt Wall who sent along notes from the show: ‘More people here than last year, crowd looked to be around the 10,000 mark. Really disappointed in the early efforts, a sloppy battle royal and an awful match between the Miz and MVP, really phoned in. Oddly, Divas tag match was excellent. Top, top efforts from Jericho and the other main eventers – just a pity some of those lower down could have looked a little more bothered about being there. One note of amusement. Kelly Kelly was up in the nosebleed section and asked a quiz question to a little girl which she got right, winning front row tickets. The crowd booed the crap out of it, and her. May be worth mentioning that Jack Swagger did not work this show. Not sure if he is injured but he didn’t have a match and didn’t even feature in the battle royal.’

11/13 Smackdown/ECW house show results from Leipzig, Germany: John Morrison over Matt Hardy & Dolph Ziggler in a three-way; Goldust & Shelton Benjamin over Zack Ryder & Ezekiel Jackson; Drew McIntyre over Finlay; Mickie James & Katie Lea over Michelle McCool & Beth Phoenix; Rey Mysterio over Batista via DQ after a chairshot; Christian over William Regal; R-Truth over Eric Escobar; and The Undertaker over CM Punk in a casket match.

11/14 in Hamburg was the same results as Leipzig drawing 7,000 and 10,000 respecitvely.

11/13 Raw house show results from Lyon, France: Sheamus won a battle royal; Paul Burchill over The Hurricane The Miz over MVP; Melina & Gail Kim over Alicia Fox & Jillian Hall with Kelly Kelly as referee; Evan Bourne over Chavo Guerrero with help from Horswoggle; Randy Orton over Kofi Kingston; DX over JeriShow; and John Cena over Sheamus.

11/14 Raw house show results from Lyon, France: Kofi Kingston over Chris Masters; The Hurricane over Paul Burchill; Sheamus over Santino; Hornswoggle over Chavo Guerrero; MVP & Mark Henry over Legacy; Melina & Kelly Kelly over Jillian & Alicia Fox with Gail Kim as referee; The Miz over Evan Bourne; and DX & John Cena over Chris Jericho, Big Show & Randy Orton.

We’re looking for reports from the Smackdown shows tonight and Sunday in Dublin, Ireland to you2us@wrestlingglobe.com.

***

Dave Meltzer broke the news tonight that Shane McMahon had a meeting recently with Dana White at the UFC offices. White refused to comment when asked about Shane this weekend while promoting UFC 105 in England.
Depending on how this plays out this is potentially one of the biggest stories of the decade. The only thing certain right now is that only a handful of people know what took place in that meeting and none of them will be talking about it.

The European tour has been a phenomenal success for WWE grossing many millions of dollars. The Raw crew finished tonight in France while Smackdown has their last house show in Ireland on Sunday. No major injuries to report although many are burned out and looking forward to a few days off after television next week in New York and Philadelphia.

Some of the Raw crew are hoping to arrive in New York City early tomorrow to take in the Metalica concert at MSG ahead of Monday’s Raw which is sold out.

Jim Ross wrote on his blog at www.jrsbarbq.com that he could be facing 3 to 4 months of recovery before, as he put it, is “facially ready” to return to television following a recent Bells Palsy attack. He said he is still keeping active running his restaurant business and attending OU football games.

An interesting note in that TV producer Kevin Dunn dumped half of his company stock for just over $800,000 on Wednesday.

The WWE themed episode of Dinner Impossible on the Food Network did a
0.8 rating, up slightly on it’s usual number.

Katie Lea worked as a babyface tagging with Mickie James this weekend in Germany. She was actually born Lüneburg, Germany and relocated to England as a teenager for college.

The next UK TV tapings are April 12 and 13 at the O2 Arena in London.

Marty “Boogeyman” Wright is telling people he is returning to WWE in January… During an interview with James Guttman at www.clubwwi.com this past week he said won’t be taking his gimmick on the indy circuit because he doesn’t want to devalue what he achieved with WWE. He also talked about going MIA recently and buried booking agent Scott Epstein claiming that he told him not to book him in October because he thought he would be back with WWE for Halloween. He said: “For all those people that he said that I committed to, I want to apologize for any inconvenience that Scott put you in, because I certainly didn’t agree to those particular date. It’s sad enough that my name had to be dragged through the dirt to raise another person’s image… I never once, and God is my witness, ever confirmed any dates that Scott said I was supposed to be at.” Wright didn’t explain why he went MIA in October nor why he didn’t return dozens of messages from concerned friends.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

11/12 Impact TV results from Orlando, FL: Dr. Stevie over Abyss; Alissa Flash over Traci Brooks; Jim Neidhart over Jay Lethal; Awesome Kong & The Beautiful People over Tara, ODB, Sarita, & Taylor Wilde; The Machine Guns & Amazing Red over Homicide, Sheik Bashir & Kiyoshi; Beer Money over The British Invasion in a non-title tables match; and Samoa Joe over AJ styles via KO in a non-title match.

11/12 house show results from Wayne, NJ: Sara del Ray over Alyssa Flash to retain the JAPW women’s title; Daffney over Hamada; Suicide over Chris Sabin; D’Angelo Dinero over Eric Young in a non-title match; Amazing Red over Homicide; Taylor Wylde & Sarita over The Beautiful People; and a preview of Turning Point with AJ Styles over Samoa Joe & Daniels in a three-way.

Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins fame was at the show which drew just under 600 with many comps. Homicide gave a nice speech after his match talking about Eddie Guerrero, who passed away four years ago on Friday.

***

We can confirm that SouthPeak, a video game publisher in Virginia, has acquired assets owned by Midway relating to video games based on the TNA Impact brand. Further details are expected to be released in the near future.

Impact on Thursday night did a 1.1 rating.

A former Knockout is rumored to be returning at Sunday’s PPV.

No update on Angelina Love although she continues to collect on indy bookings around the country. She was released from her contract in September when it came to light that her U.S. work visa had expired.

It appears there are no plans to use Jethro Holiday (the former Trevor
Murdoch) moving forward as his bio was removed from the TNA website. He hadn’t been used on TV since August.

The Feast or Fired gimmick match returns at Final Resolution on December 20.

Kevin Nash is advertised for the January house shows in Westbury, Poughkeepsie, and Danbury so I guess that is his punishment for his outburst a few week’s ago at the TV tapings. They also appear to have dropped his search for a new valet.

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Brock Lesnar was hospitalized last week in Canada. Dana White revealed tonight at the UFC 105 post-fight press conference that Lesnar is currently undergoing treatment some where in North Dakota for Mono and a disease that was just detected that Lesnar has asked UFC to keep private. White said: “I can’t really talk about it right now, but he’s in rough shape. He’s in really bad shape, and we’re going to have to do some stuff to take care of this guy. He is not well and he’s not getting any better. We’re going to have to send him to the Mayo Clinic or to Scripps, or one of those really good hospitals to figure out what’s wrong with this guy.” White did specify that Lesnar does not have cancer or AIDS but is now out of UFC indefinitely.

While TNA drew 600 last night in New Jersey, Northeast Wrestling drew 800 at the high school in Waterbury, CT with Bret Hart cutting a promo, and Jim Neidhart, Ken Anderson, Paul London, and TNA’s own Christy Hemme working matches. The show was a fundraiser to benefit the local Police Athletic League. Results: Matt Taven over Mike Bennet; Christie Hemme over Alexxus; Ricky Steamboat Jr over Jake Manning which was said to be a very good match; Jim Neidhart & The NOW over Bob Evans, Rob Eckos & Thomas Ciampra; Ron Zombie & Bull Dredd over Brian Anthony & Jalil Salim; Paul London over Jason Blade to win the title; and Mr Ken Anderson over Romeo Roselli.

Border City Wrestling also out drew TNA last night in Windsor, Ontario with 900 in the building to see Kurt Angle as special referee in the main event of Scott D’Amore & Petey Williams over Joe Doering & Tyson Dux.

Includes comments from Cary Silkin, Gabe Sapolski, Jay Brisco, Mike Quackenbush, Colt Cabana, and Ken Doane. The story also mentions WWE coming to town for a TV taping and mentioned that TNA is the only real national competition but that it’s roster is “clogged by aging WWE cast-offs — the latest being yet another resurgence by Hulk Hogan.”

***

Talk about blast from the past, former announcer Sean Mooney had a job interview at Titan Towers earlier this week while WWE crews shot television in England. His presence at HQ already has a lot of people talking, and even some worried that this might be a sign that Jim Ross is not coming back anytime soon. Mooney previously worked for WWE from
1988 to 1993 and was best known for being a backstage interviewer although he also did play-by-play on syndicated shows and hosted numerous Coliseum Video releases. After leaving WWE he worked as anchorman for WWOR-TV in Secaucus, NJ and later WBZ in Boston. His most recent TV work was as a reporter for Fox Sports Arizona covering college sports. He also had his own production company called Moonrise. His last WWE appearance was a taped interview talking about past moments of Raw during the Raw Homecoming pre-show when WWE returned to USA Network in 2005.

Axl Rotten, 38, is currently in WWE-sponsored rehab for substance abuse.
He had been promoting a wrestling convention in Baltimore this weekend that was canceled leaving a lot of unhappy vendors and talent.

Rey Mysterio needs knee surgery soon as his ACL and PCL are completely destroyed. He is said to be working through a lot of pain at the moment and his injured joint is virtually bone on bone.

Jack Swagger may have picked up a knock as he has been MIA from the last couple of Raw shows in Europe this week.

Edge talks injuries in a story with no point at http://tinyurl.com/yfzggjv saying that “guys in the WWE wrestle hurt all the time – that’s a given”. Well, you’re not supposed to admit that even when it’s true. He said regarding his broken neck a few years back:
“Yeah, I thought I was hurt… So I kept going and going, basically.
Kept training and wrestling to the point where I almost ended up in a wheelchair. And it all came to a head one afternoon when I was lifting weights in a San Francisco gym. Curling dumbbells. I was curling away when I went to go with my left and – boom – it just wouldn’t go. Even when I tried to flex my bicep, it stayed soft. It really hurt. Then next day it looked like someone had gouged out my shoulder. My left arm started disappearing. By the time I went in for an operation it was about half the size of my right arm.”

The Sun posted part one of a two-part interview with Rob Van Dam at http://tinyurl.com/ydue3tq basically telling the story of how Vince McMahon nixed the concept of reviving a modern day ECW after creating a buzz from the DVD and One Night Stand PPV in 2005.

Management relayed to talent this week that they can keep their Twitter accounts but were warned of the consequences if they posted anything that leads to negative press against the company. WWE tweets are way down since word got around.

Former Diva Stacy Keibler told the Baltimore Sun that she had her agent contact WWE to enquire about guest hosting Raw in Baltimore on November 30, “and nobody ever got back to us,” she said. “So I guess they’re not interested.” She noted she is still under a developmental contract to ABC and wouldn’t be able to go to TNA if they contacted her.

ECW did a 1.0 rating this week and averaged 1.27 million viewers…
Smackdown back on October 30 did a 2.2 rating, one of it’s highest ratings of 2009.

Vince has asked the creative team to come up with suggestions for the 2010 Hall of Fame. This happens nearly every year and Vince ignores most of the suggestions and gives the nod to who he decides anyway. Two names that have come up for the past few years are Ted DiBiase and Jake Roberts who would be strong contenders with a lack of big names this time around, and also The Honky Tonk Man, who lives in Phoenix. There is also a lot of speculation regarding The Ultimate Warrior, since the lawsuit is settled, but the chances of that happening are very slim, according to a well-placed source.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will start earlier at 4pm next year, to give production more time to edit the show for a tape delay USA broadcast.
they are also nixing the giant stop clock that they had in place in Houston which limited those giving speeches to just a few minutes.

Chris Jericho drew enough heat at the house show yesterday in London to prompt fans to pelt him with DX glow sticks. Fan cam footage at http://tinyurl.com/yeqrouq.

Edge and Eve Torres are currently in Australia promoting the upcoming tour over there. Both will be appearing at the Australian Kids’ Choice Awards broadcast live across the country on Friday night.

WWE was granted an extension until November 16 to respond to Jody Hamilton’s lawsuit against them for breech of contract for severing ties with Deep South Wrestling when Hamilton ran the group for WWE as developmental.

Monday’s Raw from Madison Square Garden with Roddy Piper as guest host has The Undertaker & John Cena vs. Triple H & Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho & Big Show in a three-way tag as the main event, and Melina vs.
Alicia Fox for the Divas title. I sense a title change here.

A new Quinnipiac poll shows Linda McMahon is second favorite in the Connecticut GOP primary just 11 percent behind former Rep. Rob Simmons.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

Impact tonight on Spike has AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe in a non-title match; The British Invasion vs. Beer Money in a non-title tables match; Abyss vs. Dr. Stevie and if Dr. Stevie loses, he must leave TNA; The Machine Guns & Amazing Red vs. Homicide, Sheik Bashir & Kiyoshi; plus Kurt Angle responds to Hulk Hogan coming in; and a new storyline with Jay Lethal.

***

SoJo Bolt (Josette Bynum) best known for being part of The Kongtourage but used sparingly in recent months was released from her contract. They may still use her in future although she was given the line about creative having nothing for her.

Kurt Angle celebrated all the charges being dropped against him yesterday with more horse riding lessons for his upcoming movie role.

Meanwhile, Trenesha Biggers told media in Pittsbrugh that she plans to re-file charges against Kurt with the DA’s office. She claims she has voicemail recordings and other evidence that she was not able to submit before dropping the charges on Monday.

Daniels will be a guest on Sirius / XM’s Busted Open show on Friday at 4:30pm ET promoting Sunday’s Turning Point PPV.

Matt Morgan is the latest athlete to donate his brain after death to Chris Nowinski’s Sports Legacy Institute.

It’s rumored among gaming websites that the license to the TNA game was picked up by publisher SouthPeak Interactive, a company funded by venture capitalists in Virginia.

Lie To Me by Like A Storm will be the theme song for the Genesis PPV in January.

Mick Foley has a cameo on an upcoming episode of the new Super Dave series on Spike.

Chris Grey (Cody Deaner) got married last weekend. Guests included Eric Young, Shawn Spears and his mentor Derek Wylde.

Alez Marvex interviewed Samoa Joe at http://tinyurl.com/y9bkjrt who says he is a big fan of Hulk Hogan. Isn’t everyone in TNA right now?

The Register Citizen at http://tinyurl.com/ygb75sg has a story on Christy Hemme coming to Winsted, CT this weekend for an autograph signing.

TNA has just released a new theme music CD at www.shoptna.com.

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Ric Flair was married for the fourth time last night in Charlotte, NC.
He had kept his plans under wraps until the last minute, even keeping them from long-time friends and two of his children. He made the public announcement an hour before the ceremony on a local sports talk show called PrimeTime with the PacMan. His bride, believed to be in her 40s, is a former waitress called Jackie Beems who he met while partying at Del Friscos Steakhouse. He said when they met she didn’t know who he was and have been together for several months following the break down of his last marriage to Tiffany VanDemark which lasted just over two years.
Flair and his new bride were due to fly out to Australia today to honeymoon for a few days ahead of the Hulkamania tour.

There were online reports that Flair was involved in an altercation during a Walmart signing due to this photo (http://tinyurl.com/yzeeh5f) appearing on the People of Walmat site. We understand there was no altercation and the dabbing of his lip was for a cold sore he was having an issue with at the time the photo was taken.

The advertised line up for the Hulkamania tour is Hogan vs. Flair on top; Orlando Jordan & Edward Smith Fatu (Umaga) vs. Solofa Fatu Jnr
(Rikishi) & Brian Lawler; Sean Morley (Val Venis) vs. Ken Anderson (Mr Kennedy); Lacey Von Erich vs. Koa Marie Turner vs. Kiara Dillon vs.
Stephanie Pietz in a Bikini contest; Brutus Beefcake w/Jimmy Hart vs.
Heidenreich; Vampire Warrior (Gangrel) & Black Pearl vs. The Nasty Boys; Matt Cross vs. Shannon Moore; and Nick Dinsmore (Eugene) & Pimp Fatha (The Godfather) vs. Rock of Love.

Hogan arrives in Sydney next Tuesday and has a big press conference planned for Wedesday.

Teddy Hart and Jack Evans are returning to Ring of Honor for the Final Battle weekend. More info at www.rohwrestling.com.

Jim Cornette’s first promo as Executive Producer of ROH is online at http://tinyurl.com/yhvaa4b.

Val Venis pulled out of a CMLL tour this past week citing personal reasons. He is doing the Hogan tour next week so that may have been a factor.

Monthly wrestling is returning to Charlotte beginning in February, 2010.

Glenn Gilbertti (41) and Trent Acid (29) both celebrate birthdays today.

RF Video is taking Bruce Prichard as Brother Love to the K&S WrestleFest on December 13 at the Radisson Hotel in Carteret, NJ. More info at www.kandswrestlefest.com.

WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

11/9 Smackdown/ECW house show results from Cardiff, Wales: The Undertaker over CM Punk in a casket match; Mickie James won a Diva battle royal ;Finlay & Yoshi Tatsu over Zack Ryder & Ezikiel Jackson; Drew McIntyre over Matt Hardy; Cryme Tyme over The Hart Dynasty; John Morrison over Dolph Ziggler; Michelle McCool over Mickie James; Christian over Goldust; and Rey Mysterio over Batista.

11/9 Raw TV results from Sheffield, England: Alicia Fox over Kelly Kelly; Sheamus over David DeVille; Evan Bourne over Jack Swagger; Randy Orton over Mark Henry; Ricky Hatton over Chavo Guerrero; and DX over JeriShow.

Smackdown and ECW was taped earlier today in Sheffield, England with Christian vs. William Regal (told this is a great match going 15 minutes before a hot crowd) for the title headlining ECW; and John Morrison vs.
Dolph Ziggler for the IC title; and The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho headlining Smackdown. There was also a Raw house show today in Cardiff, Wales. We’re looking for reader reports to you2us@wrestlingglobe.com as well as reports from the shows this coming week in London and Birmingham, England; plus France, Germany and Ireland.

***

A SEC filing today reveals that Linda McMahon resigned as a Director of WWE on November 6 citing, “continuing demands on her time resulting from her campaign for the United States Senate, representing the State of Connecticut.”

The Ricky Hatton-Chavo Guerrero match on Raw received media play all over the UK including television and national newspapers. Chavo on his Twitter earlier today said: “Just to let you know… The punch Was REAL!” That comment would have gotton him fired 25 years ago.

Sheamus’ opponent on Raw was David DeVille, the current British Wrestling Heavyweight Champion at night, and a legit footman to Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace during the day.

Undertaker-Punk was opening match last night at the Smackdown show in Cardiff so Taker could make the finish of Raw.

Raw did a 3.1 rating and 4.25 million viewers, down on last Monday, and it’s lowest rating of 2009. This can’t be good news for the creative team who have to sit on a plane with Vince for the next 10 hours.

The Hurricane vs. Paul Burchill in a mask vs. loser leaves town was bumped to TV next week in Philadelphia.

The WWE stock closed today at $15.30 on the NYSE surpassing it’s 52-week high. Likely a few celebrations in Titan Towers as certain people just scored bonuses.

The new Hulk Hogan DVD was advertised today before the live crowd at the TV tapings.

Maryse is working off ring rust this week in Tampa.

Jim Ross posted a new blog at www.jrsbarbq.com. I assume this matter of fact was aimed at the talent relations department: “Anyone who puts exact physical requirements on any prospective new wrestler is never going to be class Valedictorian from where I sit. Stars come and have for decades come in all shapes and sizes. Stars have many intangibles that cannot be measured in an 8X10. Stars have to be athletic, in shape, have a wrestling aptitude, and an overwhelming work ethic. They must be students of the game. No one should be disqualified from consideration just because they are less than 6 feet tall and don’t weight north of 230 or so. If I started listing all the HUGE stars that were under 6 feet tall, we would assemble one of the greatest rosters of all time.”

The WWE.com story on Jamie Noble was updated to where he has now decided to “retire.” Noble has been working behind the scenes as a producer for some time now.

New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor, who one headlined a Wrestlemania against the late Bam Bam Bigelow, was arrested this past week on charges of leaving the scene of a traffic accident. He claimed he thought he had hit a guard rail, not another vehicle, according to the Associated Press.

A reminder that Dinner Impossible with Jim Ross, The Miz, Santino Marella, Stephanie McMahon and Gail Kim airs tonight at 10pm ET on The Food Network.

One of our readers spotted Kozlov at the Strikeforce event in Chicago on Saturday night headlined by Fedor vs. Brett Rogers. Apparently he was with the M-1 entourage. Kozlov, under his real name of Oleg Prudius, was a 2005 USA Open Heavyweight Sambo Champion and former USKBA International Heavyweight Grappling Champion.

One of our readers in the UK is selling his WWE DVD collection on eBay;
27 DVDs, mostly documentaries and matches. Quite the collection at http://tinyurl.com/yfvfe53.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

11/9 house show results from Nashville, TN: Suicide over Homicide & D’Angelo Dinero in a three-way; Hernandez over Kip James; Tara over Velvet Sky; Abyss over Rhino in a Monster’s Ball match; Bobby Lashley over Scott Steiner; Beer Money & Frank Wycheck over World Elite; and AJ Styles over Samoa Joe with Tennessee Titan players as lumberjacks. This was a charity show raising $130,000 for The Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee.

***

Kurt Angle was cleared of all the charges, including an assault charge, brought against him by Trenesha Biggers (Rhaka Khan). Prior to a hearing this afternoon in Coraopolis, PA Biggers told the local ABC news affiliate that she was terrified by the alleged assault she suffered and feared that Kurt was going to kill her. However, the major point of contention in the case was that Biggers was still living with Kurt at his house nine days after the alleged assault took place. Biggers claimed that was because she feared for her job with TNA. An emotional Kurt said after the hearing he would never hit a women because his mother brought him up the right way.

Kurt’s attorney, Michael F. Santicola, released the following statement:
“Kurt Angle was completely and utterly exonerated of all charges of assault which was alleged to have occurred in August of 2009. A Preliminary Hearing was held today before District Magistrate Mary Murray in which Mr. Angle’s accuser, Trenesha Biggers, was given a chance to tell her tale of assault. At the conclusion of her testimony, the Judge summarily dismissed all charges as baseless. Ms. Bigger’s story did not make sense, was not believable, and was shown to be untrue. Her actions immediately after this alleged incident was completely inconsistent with someone who experienced what she has
claimed. Mr. Angle did not even have to testify, the story of Ms.
Biggers herself was enough to have these charges dismissed. During this long ordeal, Mr. Angle has maintained that Ms. Biggers is a disturbed and confused individual who falsified a story about him due to his celebrity status. When this story actually found the light of day, it was shown to be inaccurate. It is unfortunate that the legal system allowed the case to exist for 3 months when we have known all along that Ms. Biggers was not a credible person in this instance. Mr. Angle wants to move forward with his life and thanks the individuals who believed in him and supported his position of innocence.”

WTAE TV in Pittsburgh has an interview airing tonight with Biggers giving her account of her relationship with Kurt Angle.

Daffney returned to the ring with Shimmer this past weekend in Berwyn, IL. She worked a tag and short singles match which was more storyline advancement than anything physical. This was her first time back in the ring after suffering a concussion with that insane bump last month at Bound For Glory.

Hulk Hogan called into the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show on Monday claiming he is working on bringing Randy Savage and Steve Austin to TNA.
Well, Austin is still on the WWE payroll, and from someone close to
Savage: “Macho is retired, nothing is going to change… Hogan’s just doing what he does best and hyping his move to TNA. Macho looks after his Dad, and has no interest in wrestling.” Hogan also talked about Bubba joining him on the TNA writing team and claimed Vince McMahon wanted him to guest host Raw at MSG on November 16 but he turned him down because he was still mad at Vince about his $700,000 payoff for Wrestlemania 18, or some bulls–t along those lines.

Samoa Joe was scouting talent with Terry Taylor at the TNA offices in Nashville on Monday. Joe wrote on his Twitter: “Dear wrestlers, f–k you’re intro video include actual wrestling on you’re DVD’s… No lights and fuzzy camera = thrown out DVD. Please send it in watchable, common sense.” Also at the TNA offices on Monday was Abyss wrapping gifts and Homicide answering phone calls. I guess this is what Dixie means about being a team player.

The Slam Wrestling website at http://tinyurl.com/ylk9c9c has a story on Petey Williams who is still dumbfounded as to why TNA released him. He
said: “My contract was up for renewal in January 2009 and everything seemed to be going well… Out of the blue, I received a call from head of talent relations for TNA, Terry Taylor, saying my contract was not going to be renewed. I still don’t understand why the contract was not renewed. It may have been a money issue since I was the highest paid guy in the X Division. They also mentioned freshening up the roster but I am one of the youngest guys so that doesn’t make sense. I guess more than anything, I would like an explanation why I was released.” He said he had offers from WWE, but didn’t want to go to developmental in Tampa as he has mouths to feed and bills to pay. “If I had the same offer five years ago I would have agreed,” he said. “Now that I am married with a mortgage, it changes things.”

In an effort to push ticket sales a number of gimmick matches were announced for the January UK tour dates including Ultimate X in London at the same venue they broke their attendance record last year. More info at www.tnawrestling.com.

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Stacy Keibler won the Baltimore Sun Celebrity Smackdown contest over a bunch of other Baltimore celebrities including Mayor Sheila Dixon, former MBL star Cal Ripken Jr., swimmer Michael Phelps, and violinist Marin Alsop. I assume they had permission from WWE to use the word Smackdown, which WWE claims they own, or well, you know how that goes…

Keibler has a cameo tonight on Dancing with the Stars.

Nick Hogan was told by his doctor that he needs shoulder surgery. He has suffered multiple dislocations during the past year which has completely destroyed his left shoulder.

Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro said she is suffering with kidney stones.

Former WCW promoter Gary Juster was in attendance at the Ring of Honor show in Edison, NJ this past weekend apparently for both business and pleasure. Story is developing.

There is also a Smackdown house show tonight in Cardiff, Wales.

We’re looking for reader reports from these shows to you2us@wrestlingglobe.com

***

Three elimination matches are confirmed for Survivor Series: Team Kofi Kingston [MVP, R-Truth, Mark Henry & Christian] vs. Team Randy Orton [Legacy, C.M. Punk & William Regal]; Team Mickie James [Melina, Eve Torres, Gail Kim & Kelly Kelly] vs. Team Michelle McCool [Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Jillian & Layla]; and Team John Morrison [Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin & Finlay] vs. Team The Miz [Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger].

Raw has a new theme song which debuts next week at Madison Square Garden. It’s called Burn it to the Ground by Nickelback.

The first internal number for Wrestlemania 26 tickets which went on-sale this past weekend is just over 35,000 sold. The capacity for Mania at the University of Phoenix Stadium has been set at around 72,000.

Phil Strum of the Poughkeepsie Journal at http://pojoslam.blogspot.com/ has new interviews with Ken “Mr. Kennedy” Anderson and Dusty Rhodes.
Anderson noted he has just signed a one-year deal with a New York agency to handle his wrestling bookings and help find him acting work. “I’m currently reading like five different scripts and auditioning for different roles,” he said. “I truly feel that within the next year, I’ll be able to land some roles. I think the more they get me, it’s just the numbers game. Eventually, something will stick.” He said he wouldn’t entertain going back to WWE revealing he was mostly unhappy during the three years he worked for the company: “I’m not bitter about [his release]. I’m not sad about it or anything like that. It’s something that happened and I’m happy to be gone. After I got the initial shock and the punch in the stomach, it was like an elephant just stepped off my chest. I was pretty unhappy there for about three years. I thought that I could used a different way and I wasn’t. That’s OK. That was their business decision. They decided not to go that way. That’s fine.
That’s on them. Now, I’m going to try to stick it [to them] basically and prove them wrong. Hopefully, someday they’ll look back and say ‘[expletive], we could have had that guy.’” Rhodes also talks about working in WWE creative and helping to develop new talent in FCW.

WWE.com has a story on Jamie Noble working a storyline that Noble is considering retirement after the beating he received at the hands of Sheamus last week.

JJ Redick was awarded a WWE replica title belt as the winner of the Orlando Magic Iron Man award.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has a story on Jerry Lawler and other celebs talking about their love of the Cleveland Browns at http://tinyurl.com/ydre9xk.

Jim Ross said he is going to try acupuncture this week to combat his recent Bells Palsy attack.

One of our readers in the UK is selling a brand new and sealed copy of Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 for the XBox 360. Price is £28 including P&P.
In resolution to the case, the parties entered an agreement that neither party will contact the other party or act in any inappropriate manner towards the other party.

Today’s Fayetteville Observer at http://tinyurl.com/yaphf2e has a story
on prescription pain pill abuse in pro wrestling connecting Jeff Hardy
and a number of WWE names from the past who are no longer with us. Dr
Black, who runs WWE’s Wellness Program, is quoted defending the program
noting that prescription pill abuse is no greater in WWE than in society
at large. Carolinas promoter Greg Price is also quoted but is unhappy
with how the story came out, specifically the tie-in with Jeff Hardy
whom he hasn’t spoken to in over a decade. Greg told us: “I have no
reason to believe WWE doesn’t do whatever it can to help it’s employees
with prescription drug issues. But I am willing to talk about
prescription drug abuse, most importantly pointing out that prescription
drug abuse is one of society’s big dilemmas. It’ not just wrestling
folks that have these issues, but folks I meet in everyday life are
caught up in prescription drug abuse. Housewives, retired folks,
middle-aged America. I know folks of all ages that every little pain
they have, they get their doctors to write them a prescription for
painkillers. Some use the pills themselves; others use the opportunity
to sell the pills for money to buy other drugs. And these aren’t
wrestlers. They’re common, everyday people. Everything in the article
attributed to me is accurate, although some sentences are picked from
different discussions and placed together to make it sound like I’m
blaming WWE. But, my intention from the beginning was to point out that
prescription drug abuse is something that effects society as a whole and
isn’t limited to just pro wrestling. I’m happy to have that conversation
at any time with anybody.”

No numbers available yet on the first weekend of ticket sales for
Wrestlemania 26. They sold out ringside seats and the first few rows but
there are still good seats remaining in all other sections.

Catalina White, a former Maxim model who had been working in WWE
developmental earlier this year under the name Saylor James is part of
an upcoming adult video titled Model Amateur Tour. “Unlike a lot of the
other celebrity sex tapes, Catalina’s scene really delivers,” said
Andrew S., CEO of Shane’s World. “She isn’t shy or reluctant, she is
really into performing for the camera, and she has great chemistry with
her partner. She’s a famous model, a WWE wrestler and an up-and-coming
recording artist. She actually has talent, and her performance in this
scene shows us some other amazing talents she possesses that her fans
have never seen before, and will probably never see again.” Not very PG
I assume…

Kyle Busch won Saturday’s O’Reilly Challenge NASCAR race in his WWE
Smackdown vs. Raw video game themed car. Busch celebrated with his
replica title belt and said: “We out wrestled all these other guys!”
Jerry Lawler, R-Truth and The Bella Twins were in attendance
representing WWE.

WWE has a ‘best of Raw 2009′ DVD in the works. Must be a real task
putting this title together.

Fozzy, Chris Jericho’s band, releases their new and fourth album Chasing
the Grail via Riot! Entertainment on January 26, 2010.

ECW ring announcer Lauren Mayhew talks her upcoming movie Frat Party at
http://tinyurl.com/yauure4.

For whatever it’s worth, Vince McMahon’s WWE.com bio has been moved
across to the Smackdown subsite.

***

Dixie Carter posted on her Twitter that Kurt Angle has been taking
horseback riding lessons in preparation for a new movie role. “Stay
tuned for more details,” she Tweeted. Well, you don’t have to stay tuned
because we have out-scooped Dixie on her own story and can exclusively
reveal the film is called Deadman’s Gold from Lionsgate Home Video. Kurt
will play a villain called Boone. The film also stars Luke Perry, who
will be directing, replacing Lou Diamond Phillips, as Phillips had a
scheduling conflict on his Stargate show, plus Luke Goss (80s UK pop
star) and America Olivio (Friday The 13th). Kurt got the role because he
put himself on tape in Pittsburgh and sent it into the casting office.
Two other interesting notes on the film is that Paul Heyman was almost a
producer on the project, and Brock Lesnar was approached as one of the
villains. Both turned down the project, but the casting director is said
to keep in close contact with Heyman. The film, originally scheduled to
be shot in Vancouver, is now scheduled to be shot in California in
December.

Hulk Hogan’s book My Life Outside the Ring entered the New York Times
hardcover nonfiction list at No. 12. This is a bad news for Hogan as the
Mick Foley, Steve Austin and Ric Flair bios all entered The Times’ best
seller lists in higher positions with far less publicity going in.

WRESTLING GLOBE MAILBAG

My friend and I went to the Raw DX Invasion Tour today at Liverpool.
Overall, the event was really good, though some of the matches left a
bit to be desired.

First up, Kofi Kingston against Chris Masters. Kofi got a nice pop,
Masters just got booed for the sake of it really. The match was good,
one of the best of the night simply because of Kofi whose high energy
was a good opener to the show. The match progressed with Masters in
charge and Kofi attempted to come back, but Masters thwarting his
attempts. In the end, Kofi fought back, there were a few near falls, but
Kofi won after about 10 minutes with Trouble In Paradise.

Next was an ECW match between Hurricane and Paul Burchill. I was
surprised there was no support for Burchill even though he is English.
The match was fairly simple and there was pretty much zero crowd
reaction throughout and Hurricane won in around 5 minutes.

The third match was Sheamus v Primo. Before it began Sheamus got on the
mike, and bashed Liverpool as a city and then the football teams saying
they were a ‘joke’. Primo recieved some support and got in a little bit
of offense but Sheamus won in around 5 minutes again with his kick to
the head.

The next bout was between Evan Bourne and Jack Swagger. Swagger attacked
Bourne on his entrance which got him a lot of heat, then he proceeded to
beat him down, Bourne rallied and teased the Shooting Star Press a few
times, but Swagger always got up before he could do it. This match was a
good technical match and Swagger won by reversing a Bourne move and
pulling him up into the Powerbomb.

Then The Miz fought MVP for the US Title. Pre-bout Miz got on the mike
and asked why people chanted he sucked when he was the only Raw member
to win at Bragging Rights, and he’s awesome. Miz had tons of heat and
was loving it. This match was very mat based and contained many
submissions. Miz won in around 10.

Santino v Chavo was up next. Santino got a good pop and cut a promo
saying he had been beaten by Chavo so went to the library and got out 7
books and 2 DVDs and learnt martial arts. He had created his own martial
arts Marella Martial Arts and was going to use his new move the Cobra
which could paralyse his opponent. I had heard he cut promos about this
before but he was genuinely funny, and throughout the match the 2 worked
really well making the crowd laugh with Marella going to use his Cobra
move. There was also a nice spot where Chavo went to the top rope for
the Frog Splash and Marella rolled to the opposite corner so Chavo went
to that corner and Marella rolled to the opposite one again. A decent
match with some nice reversals and Santino won with a roll-up.

Then there was a Divas Tag match between Jillian and Alicia Fox and
Melina and Kelly Kelly. Jillian started singing a Beatles song but was
thankfully cut short by Kelly’s entrance! The match was OK Kelly was
exposed and teased the tag for a while before finally Melina got in and
cleared house before pinning Jillian.

Chris Jericho v Mark Henry was next. Jericho cut a great promo talking
about why the crowd were saying he sucked when it wasn’t possible
because he’s not a scouser (a derogatory term for someone from
Liverpool), he was brilliant on the mike and said that the reaction to
him after he had flown a long way to be there meant he was going to
leave, but Henry’s music hit stopping him going. The bout took a long
time to get going as Jericho was not prepared to lock up with Henry.
Henry dominated, but Jericho tried to target his back and neck to keep
him down, when this was failing he got a chair and hit Henry in the
midriff and back to get disqualified, leaving Henry the winner. I
thought it was good Jericho kept his momentum but a realistic finish
without him cleanly beating Henry. Henry got his revenge and hit the
Worlds Strongest Slam after the finish.

Finally, the main event was Cena and DX against Orton and Legacy. The
match was good and fast-paced as you’d expect with a 6-man tag. There
was a funny spot with Cena and DX pulling Orton and Legacy’s trunks down
to reveal their buttocks and the superstars seemed to be having fun with
the match. The finish was a nice go home moment for the fans with the
faces winning each one hitting their finishing move on a separate
person.

Overall, the crowd took a while to warm up but were electric for the
main event. Cena and DX got the biggest pop followed by Kofi, while
Orton and Legacy got the most heat followed by Jericho.

Lilian Garcia was assaulted yesterday on the streets of New York City during a Yankees ticker tape parade. Somebody tried to snatch her cell phone but she held on tightly and was thrown to the floor. She filed a police report and cops are hoping to catch the culprit from CCTV footage. She is okay now but grazed her elbow during the fall and was pretty shaken up by the ordeal.

Multichannel News at http://tinyurl.com/yeybyz6 has a story on WWE reducing PPV events from 14 to 13 in 2010 and increasing the price by $5. An unnamed company spokesperson (WWE is upset about the leaked memo) was quoted as saying: “We’re looking at building long term growth and focusing on providing value to our customers.”

Batista presented an award to Beyonce at the MTV Europe Music Awards, following a possibly drunk David Hasselhoff, according to The Telegraph newspaper at http://tinyurl.com/ycw2orz. Batista is quoted as saying:
“Oh God, I want to party with David Hasselhoff.” I think he meant to say play video games…

The Arizona Republic at http://tinyurl.com/ybqnadw has a story on Chris Jericho and Kelly Kelly in town for the Wrestlemania 26 on-sale party last night in Glendale. There is also a video from one of the local news stations. A newscaster is interviewing Sgt Slaughter and Maryse. When asked about a foreign country that people wouldn’t expect to be crazy about wrestling, Maryse answered MEXICO!

Superstars on Thursday night did a 0.8 rating.

Somebody pointed out to me today that Monday’s Raw in England will be the 12 year anniversary of the Montreal screwjob at Survivor Series, and the show is hosted by Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton.

WWE has canceled several house shows in January. The canceled events
are: Erie, PA; Youngstown, OH; Altoona, PA: Bowling Green, OH; and Charleston, WV. There are likely some disappointed fans in Altoona and Bowling Green as both of those events were originally booked for late 2009, then moved to January and now canceled. (Thanks to Devin Cutting)

Ring announcer Lauren Mayhew is offering a free download of her new song I SPY through Topspin Media at her official MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/laurenmayhew. I SPY is co-written by P.O.D.

Some developmental notes. Zivile Raudoniene made her FCW debut this past week as Askana. Kyle Rasmussen is working under the name of Conrad Tanner, Dos Caras Jr. is Alberto Banderas, and Pate Fifita (son of former WWE wrestler Haku) is Jimmy Uso. Danny Basham was at the TV tapings on Thursday. So were Tommy Dreamer and Ricky Steamboat who signed autographs for fans before the show. Kaval (Low Ki) is almost ready to return following reconstructive knee surgery.

Not good considering all the Hogan hype from last week.

Regarding Dixie Carter’s talent meeting, some of which aired on Impact, one TNA wrestler told us: “I have no idea why Dixie wanted that to air.
She sounded terrified. After the meeting there were a lot of guys rolling their eyes. This locker room isn’t one big happy family as [Dixie] wants us to portray publicly. Everyone is divided over the idea of Hogan coming in, and not in a good way.”

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Bryan Alverez reported that Adam Dykes passed away on Thursday night. No
details at press time. He worked on the Northwest indy scene for around
a decade mostly under the name of Adam Firestorm. I didn’t know him
personally but exchanged several emails with him over the years and he
always came across as a nice guy. He was just 32-years-old and is
survived by his wife Emile and young son Thomas. My deepest condolences
to his friends and family.

Lucha star Octagon was arrested last weekend in Coahuila, Mexico after
failing a breathalyzer test at a police roadblock. His car was impounded
and he spent four hours in jail before a judge sentenced him to 20 hours
of community service. Octagon was said to be distraught that his arrest
made news headlines and begged for forgiveness from his fans especially
the children saying that he just had two drinks which was wrong but it
wasn’t a robbery or murder. (Thanks to Kris Zellner)

In other news out of Mexico, Cibernetico also hit headlines after a nude
photo of himself surfaced on an adult dating website. Ciber, who is
married, said he has no idea how the photo ended up on the dating site
and claimed the only person who he sent this photo to was his wife. He
said he rarely goes on the Internet and would never do anything like
this since he is married and would never expose himself to the world or
would be involved in any type of “prostitution.”

James Guttman at www.clubwwi.com interviewed Sim Snuka about his WWE
release. He said he would love to work for TNA but getting back to WWE
is his main goal: “I’d love to be a part of TNA. I wasn’t sure when
they first started up, but I was hoping for them, I was like, “Man.
Hopefully these guys can do something.” Just because it gives the boys
opportunities to work somewhere else. Then they just kept going. When I
got my release from WWE, I think that happens with a lot of guys, one of
their first thoughts is, “How about TNA?” And I actually, one of the
first things I wanted to do is go back to Japan. And TNA is a thought as
well. I’d love to work for those guys and see what that would be like.
But my ultimate goal is to go back to WWE. I don’t feel finished there
yet.”

A memo leaked to us by a senior cable industry source reveals that WWE is planning to raise the suggested retail price of it’s PPV specials by
$5 to $44.95 in the United States, starting with the Royal Rumble on January 31. This appears to be a move to offset losses by reducing the numbers of PPV events from 14 to 13 in 2010.

The memo read:

“As part of our ongoing efforts to maximize the WWE pay-per-view business, we have made several changes to our branding strategy in 2009.
A key priority was to rename and retheme several of our events to better describe those pay-per-views and to build interest for our fans through new “hooks” and stronger themes. In contemplating the future of the pay-per-view business, we would like to make you aware of two important changes we are making to our pay-per-view strategy in 2010.

1. WWE will increase the suggested retail price of its pay-per-view events (excluding WrestleMania), by $5.00, to $44.95. This change in the SRP shall become effective commencing with Royal Rumble, which will be held on January 31, 2010. This will be the first price increase for non-WrestleMania events since 2006. Please note that the SRP for WrestleMania will remain $54.95.”

2. WWE is eliminating one of our June pay-per-view events therefore reducing the number of pay-per-view events in 2010 to 13 events. Please find the preliminary 2010 WWE pay-per-view event schedule below and attached.”

The strategy of reducing our pay-per-view calendar to one event per month (except for October) achieves both creative and business objectives for WWE. It allows us to better develop compelling storylines and arcs in order to motivate our fans to purchase more pay-per-views.
This change also allows for increased marketing windows for each event, during which we can more effectively communicate our sales message.”

The memo also contained a calendar of events for 2010 which is listed below by event, date, location and arena:

Dixie Carter’s talent meeting prior to the TV tapings this past week is
online at http://tinyurl.com/yagw7zx. It’s a less abrasive version
speeches that Eric Bischoff gave to the WCW locker room in the late 90s;
one in which Raven walked out and much later Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn,
Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero. One former industry power-player
analysed Dixie’s speech by saying she is no Stephanie McMahon but is
moving in the right direction: “I don’t think she’s in Stephanie’s
league as a ruthless businessperson, but this is how she chose to
publicly address the members of her staff and locker room. If she went
this far, she should have offered releases to talent. It’s been done in
WWE in the past. Bischoff did it in WCW and only Raven took him up on
it. It was done in ECW. She wanted to position herself in public and
behind the scenes as a strong leader. I don’t think she came off as
strong as Stephanie, and that’s the standard she needs to live up to
when she says she wants to go forward and step up in the industry. She
didn’t do anything wrong, and came across like a person who had belief
in the direction she chose. She also didn’t instil any confidence,
either.”

The updated lineup for Turning Point next Sunday is AJ Styles vs. Samoa
Joe vs. Daniels in a three-way for the TNA title; Kurt Angle vs. Desmond
Wolfe; Bobby Lashley vs. Scott Steiner; The Machine Guns vs. The British
Invasion for the tag titles; Tara vs. Awesome Kong in a steel cage;
Amazing Red vs. Homicide; and ODB, Taylor Wilde & Sarita vs. The
Beautiful People.

WRESTLING GLOBE MAILBAG

Me and a friend decided on short notice to visit the house show in
Frankfurt yesterday. We got some good seats (approx. tenth row) and from
my thinking the arena was almost packed, I would say around 8.000 people
or so.

Opener Cryme Tyme vs. Tyson Kidd and D.H. Smith was the right thing to
open the show with. Shad and JTG knew how to get the crowd hot, for the
start they received huge pops. Match was solid, classical architecture,
strong heel offense from the start, hot tag, face victory after
turbulence in the ring.

Next up Zack Ryder vs. Yoshi Tatsu. Crowd was almost dead during the
whole match. It seemed, that nobody in the arena watches ECW and knows
those two are.

Ezekiel Jackson vs. Goldust was kind of a squash. First heel victory
today for which also nobody seemed to care. Ezekiel is an impressive
figure.

Diva battle royal for a title shoot tonight was what you expected,
Mickie James and Beth Phoenix being the main actresses. Towards the end
of the match we realised that the battle royal was not top rope since
Mickie kicked Beth through the ropes below and Natalya over the second
rope for the win.

ECW title match Christian vs. William Regal. Regal came to the ring with
huge heat. He took the mic and discredited Germans “I could never
possibly suck like a German”, nice draw for even more heat. Christian
seems to be loved here, hugest pop until now. Christian interacted with
the crowd so the start of the match took a while. Good mat wrestling in
the beginning. Match seemed to long, but not to long and having
Christian win with a not so good looking Unprettier. Nice long
celebration in the ring afterwards. You could tell that Christian loves
to be in the ring. Match of the night psychology wise.

Next up a fatal four way for the Intercontinental title. John Morrison
vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. Match of the night
entertainment wise. The faces started of by beating down Ziggler.
Afterwards Matt and Rey teamed against Morrison and then it was a free
for all. Intense match with lots of near falls, all signature moves and
a win by Morrison in the end. After the match the three faces celebrated
together on the ramp.

After a 15 minute break Drew McIntyre entered the ring almost no
reaction. He drew good heat with defamation of Germans and even read
some sentences in German, which I thought was really good. Of course
Finlay then had a good stand with the crowd. He even took a German flag
with him to the ring. After a little bit of drama the match had some
good mat wrestling stuff. Drew won with a roll up with his feet on the
ring ropes. Finlay did not.

Diva title match Michelle McCool vs. Mickie James was a normal diva
match without particular highlights, won by Michelle.

Main event was, as announced, a casket match between The Undertaker and
CM Punk. Punk received good pops at his entrance, and had an argument
with a fan ringside. Undertakers entrance was the loudest the arena had
heard this evening. During the match Punk had much fear of the casket.
Highlights were an almost-rope walk of Taker, a nice chokeslam, a
beautiful GTS and the chair usage of Punk against Taker. Taker won as
expected after an nicely executed tombstone. Celebration afterwards was
fairly short for his “last” tour.

Overall a solid around three hour show with good work by some talent
(Drew McIntyre, participants of the fatal fourway, Christian, Regal,
Cryme Tyme).

We waited behind the arena for around an hour (maybe 50 meters away from
the buses, behind a fence) to meet some talent. Finlay and Matt did
wave, but that’s all we got.

***

WWE today announced financial results for it’s third quarter ended September 30, 2009. Revenues totaled $111.3 million and profit was $8.9 million, up from $5.3 million during the same period in 2008. This was more to do increased television rights fees ($3.9 million) and cost cutting than anything else. PPV buys were down 22 percent with SummerSlam losing 108,000 buys from 2008. Consumer products declined 14 percent mainly due to drops in licensing and magazine publishing revenue. Home Video showed a gain of $200,000 but that was mostly due to promotional offers and a 20 percent reduction in DVD prices. As with the last few quarters the profit didn’t cover the dividend but they are sitting on healthy cash reserves of approximately $230 million with virtually no debt.

During the investors conference call Vince McMahon said he thought the company had a good quarter. He pointed to an increase in average attendance at live events (5,800 vs. 5,300) and television ratings as his barometer. However, that doesn’t stand up too well when you consider they’ve run more overseas events with lower ticket prices comparable to the last quarter, and also added the Superstars show on WGN, which attributes to the overall increase in ratings. The Q&A portion of the call mostly featured softball questions from analysts, to the point you would think it’s scripted, asking about utilizing archive footage from the 70s and 80s, and WWE’s partnership with The National Guard.

Vince did talk about Linda and Shane leaving the company. He said:
“We’ve lost Linda in terms of her CEO role of course which I have assumed, she still sits on the Board. The other aspect of family, some people perceive this to be a family business, which I do not. But nonetheless, my son Shane as well has decided to pursue other opportunities in the marketplace. Nonetheless, I have mentioned before that the strength of our management team is stronger now than it has ever been. And if your last name is McMahon or not, decisions are always made on your abilities in terms of whatever position you hold now and/or will in the future and be judged on your performance, not because your last name is McMahon.”

Vince also talked about a “revised film philosophy and practice” with regards to WWE Studios, and confirmed launching a cable television channel in the future, although he admitted they are very early in that process. He said the new film philosophy was to concentrate on movies with a $5 million budget and roll them out quickly direct-to-video rather than produce big budget theatrical releases. In the financial report it was hinted at that 12 Rounds with John Cena broke even but they didn’t post any revenue. During the call, WWE Chief Financial Officer George Barrios mentioned The Marine 2 was coming out in December and said they project WWE’s future direct-to-video releases will surpass breakeven profits.

WWE also revised it’s business outlook, targeting average annual earnings growth between 15 to 20 percent over the next three years. The stock market reacted favorably to the results with the stock price jumping 7.2 percent to $14.51 by the close of play.

“We believe we can achieve meaningful growth by strengthening our global expansion and television distribution, leveraging our new partnership with Mattel and continuing to improve operating efficiency,” said Vince McMahon in a press release. “Through disciplined cost management, we expect our operating leverage to deliver outstanding earnings growth with even moderate increases in revenue.”

***

Maryse and Sgt. Slaughter were studio guests this morning on KiiM-FM radio in Tucson, AZ. They were in town as part of WWE’s kids reading challenge and promoting live events in the area. Maryse said she hopes to return for and be back in the ring at Survivor Series, which is two weeks away.

Chris Jericho made TMZ today for not very PG comments two weeks ago during the screening of his movie Albino Farm at the Sacramento Horror Film Festival. He made a few jokes and referred to the moderator as “Hadji” which apparently is perceived a racial slur against Middle Easterners. Jericho has now apologised and TMZ has him quoted as saying, “After seeing the video I realize some inappropriate comments were made and I apologize if I offended anybody… Just know that everyone on stage was having a blast and we all shared a drink and a laugh after!
The good news is I got my wish of being posted on TMZ.” Story is at http://tinyurl.com/yjvj644.

GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) jumped on the story, because Jericho also said the word “fag”, and released this ridiculous
statement: “Just three months ago, Chris Jericho’s boss and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon acknowledged to GLAAD that words matter. There is no time, context or occasion in which it is acceptable to utter racist and anti-gay slurs. Jericho’s hollow apology `if offended anyone’ is a template used by many and is insincere and worn.” How this group can determine the sincerity of an apology when they haven’t heard it is beyond me.

A correction from yesterday. Jeff Hardy’s next court date is actually December 2, not November 14. When we called the court house yesterday afternoon we were mistakenly given the date of a hearing for a different person also named Hardy.

Mark Henry was good to go tonight in Scotland although he is having some knee issues.

Already announced for ECW next week in England is Christian vs. William Regal for the ECW title; and Paul Burchill vs. Hurricane. If Burchill loses, he and Katie Lea must depart ECW, and if Hurricane loses he must remove his mask.

Jerry Lawler is scheduled to appear at the Texas Motor Speedway this Saturday.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

Impact tonight on Spike has AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels with Samoa
Joe as the special referee; Bobby Lashley vs. Homicide; Madison Rayne
vs. Taylor Wilde; Team 3D vs. Matt Morgan & Hernandez; Tara vs. Hamada;
and Beer Money vs. Eric Young & Rob Terry. They will also be airing
footage of a meeting Dixie Carter held with talent at the tapings this
past week, and also, so I am told, hyping a interview with Sting to
discuss his future with the company.

TNA are back on the road this weekend. They run in Murray, KY on Friday
and Jackson, TN on Saturday. There is also a special charity event on
Monday at the Wildhorse Saloon to benefit The Boys and Girls Clubs of
Middle Tennessee. More info on that at www.tnawrestling.com.

***

Hulk Hogan has been claiming at booking signings this week that he was
going to introduce Rob Van Dam to Dixie Carter and bring him to TNA. You
know, the same guy who recently met Dixie at Bound For Glory. On a
related note, RVD did an interview with The Monday Night Mayhem radio
show. Regarding Hogan signing with TNA, he thought it was a good for the
business but wasn’t too sure that Hogan should have any booking power.
You can listen in at www.mondaynightmayhem.com.

Hogan was interviewed today on Good Day LA in Los Angeles. He was having
difficulty walking and had to be helped onto the set. He first plugged
his book and then plugged TNA saying he would be running the company and
giving everyone a choice.

Hogan’s book made No. 14 on the Publishers Weekly Best-Sellers list.

Kevin Nash released the following statement regarding his suspension:
“Thought I would clear up some internet bulls**t. The reason I did not
receive a letter from T.N.A was because this matter was discussed
between President Dixie Carter and myself. I promise you it cost me
money not a paid vacation at my beach home. I understand Dixie’s reason
for the action she has taken but stand by my reaction to what at the
time appeared a serious neck injury to Josh [meaning Josh Harter aka
Chris Sabin].”

Highspots.com released the following statement on Wednesday regarding
the sale of Ric Flair’s NWA title belt: ‘It has been accurately reported
that, Highspots is one of two companies that Ric Flair pledged his NWA
belt to for outstanding amounts owed. To ensure that the eventual buyer
has no potential issues, Highspots has continued to work with the other
holder of the lien on the title belt at issue. After speaking with our
counsel, Combraco, Inc. has informed us that they decided to give Mr.
Flair an additional six months in which to repay the more than $300,000
that he owes to them. While we are disappointed by the delay, we respect
the legal process and continue to work to resolve the issues with Mr.
Flair’s other creditors to protect the interest of our customers. In
the unlikely event Mr. Flair pays these funds owed, we will be the only
remaining lien holder on the belt and will place it back for sale. If he
does not, we anticipate working with Combraco after the period ends to
reach a final agreement to facilitate the sale. Again, we are sorry for
the delay, but Highspots is a long standing and respected company that
values its integrity and respect for the legal process. We will continue
to hold the belt and will update the situation and contact all
individuals who submitted bids again this spring.’

Who’s Slamming Who at www.WhosSlammingWho.podomatic.com has brand new
Behrens, and some jabroni called Kenny Bolin. Cornette talks Hulk Hogan,
Vince Russo, and more.

Michele Mupo is handling indy/convention bookings for a number of Divas
including Candice Michelle, Tara f.k.a. Victoria, Sunny, Karen Angle,
Terri Runnels, and many others. For a full client list you can call

Lillian Garcia is not taking any new convention bookings and is going to
be concentrating on her music.

Brock Lesnar confirmed he is suffering from mononucleosis [kissing
disease]. His doctor told him not to train for a month so the idea of
fighting Shane Carwin at UFC 108 on January 2 is off the table. Carwin
wrote on his website: “I hope Brock gets well soon. I highly suggest he
get into a Max Muscle store because they have the best advice and
supplements to support that advice. It really is the only way to make it
through the grueling weather and training we live through.” It’s
believed that Brock won’t be ready to fight until March.

National Wrestling Superstars has a double shot this weekend in
Belleville and Dunellen, NJ with 7-foot-7 Giant Silva and Tammy “Sunny”
Sytch. More info at www.nwswrestling.com.
