FCW results from Melbourne including NXT

My brother and I attended a Florida Championship Wrestling house show in Melbourne FL on June 9th, 2010.  This was the second show FCW has run this year in Melbourne.  For those don’t know, FCW is the developmental promotion for the WWE, based in Tampa, FL.  My brother and I enjoy watching the weekly TV show and house shows, as it gives us an early look at the future Superstars of the WWE.

Before the show, fans had the opportunity to meet WWE Superstars The Miz and Christian, as well as NXT Rookies Daniel Bryan, Heath Slater, and Justin Gabriel.  The NXT Rookies were wearing the “N” armbands they sported on Monday Night RAW.  When I asked Bryan if their faction had a name, he said, “You’ll have to keep watching to find out.”

The crowd had high energy for most of the evening, even during the undercard matches.  The event was held at the Melbourne Auditorium and I estimate there were 400-450 fans in attendance.

NWS Chris Candido J-Cup Tournament Results

Friday night May 14th, NWS held its biggest show of the year, the 2010 Chris Candido Memorial J-Cup Tournament, at the Kenilworth, NJ Veterans Center. A capacity crowd, including standing-room-only fans, filled the hall to see twelve of the circuit’s best cruiserweight, middleweight, and junior heavyweights. And they were certainly not disappointed, as this was one of the wildest J-Cup Tournaments ever, and they didn’t even notice the lack of air conditioning and the hot weather outside, as the action in the ring was even hotter.

The night began with all twelve J-Cup participants surrounding the ring and paying tribute to the late great Chris Candido.

WSU “On The Road” News & Results

WSU the leader in womens wrestling today, returned this past Saturday for two “On The Road” matches, matches that will appear on the upcoming WSU “On The Road Spring Tour” DVD.

At our big brother promotion, National Wrestling Superstars (NWS) in Brick, NJ, new WSU Tag Team Champion Jana was upset by rookie sensation Niya! While Jana was able to dominate most of the match, Niya was able to catch Jana out of no where to win the match via pinfall! Jana was enraged after the match and has expressed interest in a rematch with the rookie.

At EVOLVE, WSU World Champion Mercedes Martinez kept her winning streak alive, going 3-0 in EVOLVE competition. Previously defeating Niya & Sumie Sakai, Mercedes Martinez defeated one of her newest rivals, Brittney Savage, with ease after a fishermans buster.

EVOLVE 3: Rise or Fall – Results & Updates

Here are results from last Saturday’s “EVOLVE 3: Rise Or Fall” event and some DVD info: EVOLVE returned with “EVOLVE 3: Rise Or Fall” on May 1st at the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, NJ. The DVD will go into production next week. The theme of this card was that several bouts would feature wrestlers with similar records. Some would rise and others would fall. Here are the quick results:

Since this event was focused on winners and losers, it was ruled that there would be no time limits. If the match ended with a double countout on the floor, the first competitor into the ring would be declared the victor. These rules only apply to this show with the “Rise Or Fall” theme.

NWA Anarchy Hardcore Hell Live Report

April 17 NWA Anarchy Hardcore Hell Live Report by Larry Goodman

——————————————————————————–

NWA Anarchy’s Hardcore Hell 2010, the fourteenth rendition of the longest running event in indie wrestling, most assuredly lived up to its name.

Attendance was 230. The NWA Arena in Cornelia hadn’t seen a crowd that size since July 2008. Neither had the talent roster, who busted ass up and down the card in response. It had to be morale boost on all fronts. The heat was generally amazing, until crowd fatigue set in for the last 45 minutes of this 3 and ½ hour show.

This was the action-packed-to-the-max version of Anarchy, with moments of spectacular athleticism, stretches of horrific violence, great stories and one of the best angles ever in this building. In short, it had had everything fans could possibly hope for from a big show night in Cornelia. Will fans come back in great numbers for Hostile Environment in July? Absofreakinglutely. The question is if the stories, and there were plenty of them put out there, are enticement enough to bring fans back to the shows in between, or were their appetites satisfied for a while by so much in one night?  (more…)
