Here are some of the highlights of Tyler’s exclusive interview, provided by The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson From New Jersey:

===========================================================================================================

Tyler Black joined The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network for his first trip into the squared circle of “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio,” coming off of the heels of ROH’s returns to Philadelphia & New Jersey this past weekend. There are many wrestling fans that indeed are thinking about going to the forthcoming Ring Of Honor shows this weekend (in the Detroit & Toronto areas), and Tyler was asked to handicap the vibe & feelings going on in ROH currently. “Lately I would say in the last couple of months, almost since Bryan (Danielson) & Nigel (McGuniess) left the company, we really hit a stride in overall production. I don’t know if it was the addition of Jim Cornette or what, but it kind of lit a spark under everyone’s ass, and we’ve been working really hard. I think our last two TV tapings have been the best we have done so far for HDNet.”

After leaving TNA a few months ago, Jim Cornette made his way back to Ring Of Honor as Executive Producer of ROH On HDNet, and many journalists, critics, & fans alike are saying that this move can only help the company in the long run. Tyler was asked about his impact on ROH since coming in once again. “Jimmy has only been with for a short time, and people were asking who was going help us out whether it be Ric Flair or Bret Hart, but I think we got a coup with Jim Cornette leaving TNA & coming to help us. He’s a smart guy, and he’s been in the business for decades and just being around having him in the locker room has me immensely. I think the most important thing it has helped the energy of everything. People were kinda down, and he came in gave us a great vibe.”

Many fans see Tyler Black as the talent that can lead Ring Of Honor going forward as the next ROH World Champion leading into the new calendar year ahead. Mosh asked him about the pressure associated with this & whether he welcomes the pressure going forward, as he could leading the company in the next year. “I’ve gotten lucky that I have had a lot of high-pressure experience over the last few years, so I’ve gotten to the point where I’m comfortable & almost thrive under pressure. Having the World Title & carrying that weight on my shoulders is something I look forward to hopefully in the near future in 2010 & beyond.”

As is the trend every year, Ring Of Honor will be showcasing its talent in the city that WrestleMania is held in…with fans from across the globe converging on the locale of Phoenix, AZ area. With rumors swirling that World Wrestling Entertainment are looking very hard at ROH talent, including Tyler Black, how does he feel about going there and if he feels he is ready for that kind of a jump? “I know I could into the WWE & compete with those guys. And that’s a testament to Ring Of Honor, because we’ve had the experience on TV…we’ve done the Pay-Per-Views. So whatever disadvantages I’m presumed to have going into that situation, I think are not true. I could in there & stand toe-to-toe with anybody in that company & blow them out of the water.” And his thoughts on WrestleMania weekend: “I’m really excited for WrestleMania weekend as I always am, and I hope the fans are too. It’s a crazy weekend…There’s events Friday, Saturday, Sunday. the Hall Of Fame, WrestleMania, the Dragon Gate USA show, and we’re running two shows on Friday & Saturday. There’s so much going on as a fan, and it’s going to be a blast. And hopefully the eyes of the wrestling world, whether they be the WWE people, checking us out or trying to put the kibosh on us. It’s nice because obviously they are worried to some effect. We’re on the radar.”

Blade asked Tyler about the fans of Ring Of Honor, who are extremely passionate & loyal about the product and who do not want their favorite talents to leave. Names like CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Colt Canada & most recently Nigel McGuinness & “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson have gone on to the WWE or TNA, and a large majority of the rabid ROH fans think their careers will suffer for that. Tyler sincerely believes that the cream does rise to the top when it comes to those who have moved on from ROH, but it’s mainly up to the guys to make their mark. “The successes are few & far in between. A lot of that might have to do with the politics of pro wrestling. Everyone who has come out of Ring Of Honor is capable, and if given the opportunity, they can succeed. Colt Cabana is an incredible talent, and as far as I’m concerned, he was mismanaged. And you have guys like Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal) & CM Punk who were given the opportunity to excel, and they took advantage of the opportunity. I hope they don’t do that to Bryan Danielson. He paid his dues more than anybody in the wrestling business, and hopefully he can showcase his talents for the rest of the world & that audience, and they will appreciate him.”

In closing, Tyler was asked a very important question: What is in store for Tyler Black & pro wrestling in 2010? “All I can hope for in 2010 is that it’s not going to be like the last decade in the wrestling business. Everything has kind of stagnated for the last decade, and hopefully whether it’s myself or someone else, we could bring change into the business & infuse some new energy. As for myself, I’m with Ring of Honor through 2010. If I’m the poster boy & the guy that’s going to carry the weight for that world, hopefully it’s the World Title, because I would love to have that opportunity & really be the face of the company for the future.”

More is contained in this exclusive interview with one of Ring Of Honor’s fiercest warriors, including his comments on his matches this weekend in Detroit against Claudio Castagnoli (happening for the first time ever in Ring Of Honor) & in the Toronto area against Roderick Strong (in a rematch from “Survival Of The Fittest 2009″). And for more ROH goodness, one-half of the hottest tag team circulating the independent scene, Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks, also joined The Mayhem to preview his team’s match against Kevin Steen & El Generico in “The Motor City” this Friday, what him & his brother (Matt) have planned for ROH’s fans in Mississauga, The Young Bucks’ chances at the ROH World Tag Team Titles & the team’s comparisons over the years to The Hardy Boyz, along with Nick’s thoughts on the recent WWE return of the man who helped train The Young Bucks, Marty Jannetty.

Sunset Flip Presents: My Experience with HD Net

NOTE: Believe it or not, this article does NOT contain any spoilers.

I always claim that I have never met a person, face to face, that has the channel HDNet. As far as I knew, the channel exists in ten cities across the US. That’s right, I said cities not states. I actually met someone for the first time a couple of days ago that has the channel and maybe, just maybe there’s a chance he will see me on the channel in a couple of weeks for Ring of Honor’s TV shows. This is Jim Boy Star, host and producer of the Sunset Flip Wrestling Show, and this is my experience of Ring of Honor on HD Net.

I was pretty excited about the fact I was going to an HD Net taping. I have been a fan of pro wrestling for a long time and this would be added on my big list of pro wrestling “things to do”. This was also my friend Tony’s first Ring of Honor Show and quite possibly my first wrestling show on a Thursday night, which just felt strange to me.

Upon entering the arena, our seats were very close to the door. We actually entered at the end of the dark match and the first thing I noticed was the audience. I saw LOTS of kids there. I found this weird because Tony had asked me “what kind of audience will be at this event?” and my response was “probably people around our age” (mid 20’s). To say I was taken aback by the audience was probably an understatement, including one instance that happened later, which I will talk about later in this article.

The show starts off like a typical Ring of Honor show. The countdown, the clapping, etc. However, all of sudden a bunch of the Ring of Honor wrestlers surround the ring and stand outside of the ring on the apron.

As the show begins Jim Cornette comes out announces the Pick Six Contenders Series. I was lost on the concept and felt like this was a convoluted TNA type match. In the middle of Cornette announcing who was in the Pick Six Contenders series, my friend leans over to me and says “I wish that wrestling would get away from the authority figure concept like we’re seeing”. I couldn’t agree more. I responded back “Tony, this is the first I’ve ever seen this happen. It’s stupid but I assure you this is not what ROH is about”. To be honest, I half lied with that statement. I did not think back if it really happened but off the top of my head I don’t recall ever seeing an ROH show start off with a segment in recent memory. It should also be noted I don’t follow EVERY ROH show either.

After the opening segment was over, I could not help but think it was a very WWEish opening that went too long and to be honest, should not have even happened. Thankfully as the show went on, Tony got to really see what Ring of Honor is about and to our delight there were squash matches. I’ve always been a big advocate of bringing back squash matches to regular TV every once in awhile.

To be fair, I liked that money was being offered to people winning matches, I always liked that concept in wrestling. Even though we all know it’s “fake” money, the thought is in your head that the guys will work harder for that bonus.

At one point Austin Aries was in the ring and fan yelled out “Fuck you Aries”, in which another person next to his kid, said something to the effect that “come on man” referring that his kid was there. This goes back to my original problem. The atmosphere of the event did not feel like a real Ring of Honor show. This especially got me mad because as a parent, I feel you should know what kind of situation he was in for. Compared to the New York show, the Philly crowd on Thursday night was downright awful. Was it because it was a Thursday night show? I wish I knew.

The night ended with a great fatal fourway match. But not without one last gripe from me. Out of nowhere, towards the beginning I heard what sounded like a 1-2 year old baby crying. I don’t understand parents these days. Even when I hear babies crying in movie theatres, they will not remember it. Same thing applies here. It makes no sense to me.

Finally, I would like to note that after the event was over, since we had seats so close to the door, we were the first ones out. Upon exiting Ring of Honor actually gave us (and a few more) FREE tickets to their January 9th show at the Arena. Not sure if its an HD Net taping or a regular event but we both got a general admission ticket for that event.

Today’s valuable lesson: If someone says to you that Ring of Honor does give away free tickets. It is a lie because in some cases they do and I’m proof of it.

Nick then asked the question “Do you think Sting is over rated?” – in which Aaron debated Nick on the issue. Nick believes that Sting hadn’t had many noticeable feuds in his career. He brought up Hogan, Flair, Luger and Terry Funk. Aaron claimed that Sting carried the WCW and kept it afloat for all the past years. However Nick would claim it was the Horseman. The debate ended when Nick asked for the listeners to join the conversation at radio@onlineworldofwrestling.com.

Following that debate Nick and Aaron talk about the 20 minute match between A.J. and Kurt on TNA’s iMPACT prior to Bound for Glory.

News Segment (32:17)
The News segment kicks off with John Lennon’s Beautiful Boy bringing us in from break. Nick and Aaron talk briefly about “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” then Wolf Blitzer and conservatives. In the segment the current top news in the industry was talked about the latest news as of Tuesday Night October 20, 2009.

Bret “The Hitman” Hart Interview (58:40)
Nick introduced Bret Hart in this segment, and began by asking Bret where would he be without Professional Wrestling? Some of the highlights of the interview include Bret talking about Gorilla Monsoon and the impact he had on his career. Bret would also mention in the interview that HHH and Shawn are cancers to the industry when the three were talking about the entertainment side of the business. Bret then would compare himself to John Cena stating that he was always a company guy, much like Cena and all about the team effort. Nick would disagree with Bret on his statement about Cena, then Bret clarifies. Scott “NDX” (OWW Radio Producer) would join Nick in the interview asking Bret about the comparison of the territory days to the indies of today. The interview ran 25 minutes long and ended with Bret saying, “You’re listening to OWW Radio.”

Interview recap/Match of the Week/This Week In Wrestling History (1:24:54)
Bob Marley’s “We Jammin” brings us back from break Aaron returns with Nick to talk about ECW and Tony Atlas, the Bret Hart Interview and his feature “The Match of the Week.” In the feature, the TNA iMPACT 20 minute draw between Styles and Angle was awarded. Aaron sparked a debate on why TNA would have such a great match before a big PPV that may or may not have out shined the event or that events title match between Styles and Sting. Nick claimed that it was a great move by TNA as we can look forward to an A.J. vs. Kurt feud brewing before the next PPV.

Healthcare/Autism in America (1:33:59)
Also in this segment Nick merges his genres of Talk Radio again. Bringing up Autism and the Healthcare situation in America. Nick goes on a rant about Doctors sticking babies with shots when they aren’t even 1-3 hours old. He claimed that the US Government knows about it and yet refuses to do anything about it. He brought up facts stating that the shots contain huge doses of mercury which are a direct cause of Autism. Nick then states he only hopes that President Obama’s Healthcare bill passes. He then apologies for his rant and returns to Wrestling Talk.

This Week In Wrestling History (1:38:40)
This Week in Wrestling History is a review of past wrestling events that occurred this week. Nick ran down WCW events such as “Halloween Havoc.” Also birthdays for example Hawk of the Legion of Doom and D’Lo Brown. Aaron and Nick also include sound bytes and their takes on such events. October 17, 2009
Before I start I want to offer my condolences to the friends and family of Captain Lou Albano who passed away earlier this week. I never had the opportunity to meet Captain Lou during my career so I don’t have any personal stories or insight to offer, but never the less was saddened to hear of his passing. RIP Captain Lou…thank you for your contributions to the business I love.

Not a ton of other stuff to talk about today but I have a few things I want to plug that I think a lot of you would enjoy checking out.

ROH has released the 2 Night “Death before Dishonor VII” DVDs. “Death before Dishonor VII” were the two shows in Toronto, Ontario this past July that I work for Ring of Honor. These two events feature what will probably be the last 2 matches of my career. The July 24th event featured fellow Canadian Kevin Steen and me squaring off against Chris Hero and Davey Richards, and the July 25th event featured a singles bout between Chris Hero and myself. I just watched both matches back for the first time, and can tell you I was very happy with my performance in both matches.

When I wrote about these matches right after doing them I commented that I wasn’t what I once was, but looking back that was only half true. After watching them back I feel the work rate and quality was still there, I just had to work a lot harder to get there. In the past I would have been able to do those matches without effort and had a lot left in the tank when they were done. At 40 I had to give it everything I had to keep up with the younger guys and the tank was definitely on empty when it was over. In some ways though, this actually added to the match, especially the single with Hero. I think the sweat and fatigue added some realism to my selling and the credibility of the match, it helped tell a perfect story. I’m very proud of these matches, I hope you check them out.

If seeing my last two matches isn’t hook enough, there is also the usual GREAT ROH Action on the events, as well as an appearance by Bret Hart on the 24th event and Ric Flair on the 25th. Both DVDs are available at: www.ROHwrestling.ccom and are priced ridiculously low at $20 each.

The other thing I’d like to plug is “Shimmer”. “Shimmer” is a Women’s only Pro Wrestling organization that features some of the most talented women pro wrestlers on the planet. WWE has their Divas, and TNA has their Knock outs, but my God Shimmer has some women who CAN WRESTLE! To be honest I haven’t seen a ton of Shimmer, but the more I see of it the more I like it.

I first picked up a couple “Shimmer” DVD’s for my SWA Library, but never had the time to sit down and watch any of them. I seldom have time to just sit down and watch DVDs so they just sat on my shelf for students to check out. Earlier this year I was contacted by the Shimmer promoter and told that one of my SWA students, Tenille, was booked on their next set of DVD tapings. I was thrilled “Shimmer” was giving Tenille a shot and I was looking forward to watching her match once the DVD was released.

Well the DVD has been released and Tenille lent me her copy, so I could check out her match. The DVD is “Shimmer Vol. #23” and so far I’ve checked out about half of it and boy was I impressed. I haven’t even gotten to the Main Events yet, and I’ve seen some of the best pro-wrestling I’ve seen in a long time. Yes I purposely didn’t say “Best Women’s Wrestling” I’ve seen, because a couple of these matches are so good they stand up to any matches out there men’s or women’s.

Now I’m not saying every match is a mat classic, but even the worst Shimmer matches I’ve seen are still decent and you have to respect these girls for how hard they work. Tenille wrestled Amber O’Neil on the show and to be honest only had a decent match and she is capable of much better. She is going back for the next set of tapings (November 8th) and will likely be more comfortable her second time out and better show case her talents.

The best match I’ve seen on the DVD, so far, featured Sara Del Rey and Madison Eagles. I’ve met Sara a couple times doing ROH appearances so I’ve seen her work, but Madison Eagles I’d never even heard of before. This match blew me away. This match featured some of the best mat wrestling I’ve seen this side of Bryan Danielson. These girls were AWESOME, these girls can WRESLE. I CAN NOT praise this match or recommend this DVD enough. The DVD is priced absurdly low at $14.95 and this match alone is worth that. Guys in this business could watch these two girls work to improve their mat skills, hell if I was coming back, I’d watch this match again, for s–t to steal.

There are a ton of great women workers on this DVD including Daze Haze, who I’m also a big fan of, Amazing Kong (TNA’s Awesome Kong) and I can’t wait to check out the Main Event featuring Shimmer Champion Mischif defending her title against Serena Deeb. I haven’t had the opportunity to see either of these girls yet but if they are Main Eventing a show already this good, they must be great.

If you miss the days of Trish Stratus, Jazz, Molly Holly, etc. do yourself a favour and check out “Shimmer”, either on DVD or live. The next Shimmer taping is coming up November 8th in Berwyn, IL which is just out side of Chicago, so if you are in the area PLEASE show your support and attend this event. Details on Shimmer, the live taping, or DVDs can all be found at: www.ShimmerWrestling.ccom

TONS OF NEWS COMING OUT OF FALLOUT 2009

New Champions crowned amid controversy this weekend in Crystal River.

Brad Attitude got a little help from Florida wrestling legend Cowboy Ron Bass and was finally able to overcome the outside interference of Heartbreak Enterprises en route to winning the FIP Florida Heritage Title from Rhett Titus. After the match HBE attacked both Bass and Attitude who were able to clear the ring themselves, but not before the big Cowboy challenged Sean Davis to a Texas Bullrope Match on November 21st as part of the 2009 Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup weekend of events. Davis begrudgingly accepted.

We have new FIP tag team champions after the British Lions’ steel cage victory over Erick Stevens and Roderick Strong, but the aftermath of this match leaves us with far more questions than answers at this point. Clearly the team of Stevens/Strong is no more after Erick’s shocking turn on his partner just as it seemed they were about to grab victory and retain the tag titles, but there is clear disharmony on the side of the new champions as Tommy Taylor and Chris Gray are definitely not on the same page…due to the antics of Sean Davis and some “words of wisdom” from the now departed Nigel McGuinness during and before this match respectively.

We hope to have updates including interviews with everyone involved in this situation in the coming days.

FIP the first to name its 4 entrants in this year’s Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup

The 2009 Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup will take place over the course of 2 evenings on Friday November 20th, 2009 and Saturday November 21st, 2009 at the Brooksville, Florida and Crystal River, Florida National Guard Armories respectively.

In a new twist for this year’s event, the 16 participants for the tournament will come from 4 of the hottest independent companies in the US, with each company entering 4 wrestlers to represent their company. This year’s field will represent Florida’s own Full Impact Pro Wrestling, Philadelphia’s Combat Zone Wrestling, Chicago’s AAW and Ohio’s Hybrid Pro Wrestling.

The first four entrants into the 2009 JPC have been named, and come to the field from Full Impact Pro based on results of matches at their Fallout 2009 event, held in Crystal River this past Saturday night. Representing FIP will be:

2. FIP Florida Heritage Champion Brad Attitude

Here are some of the highlights of Austin’s exclusive interview, provided by The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson From New Jersey:

==================================================================================================================

“A-Double” joined “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio” for his first appearance since the spring of last year, and was welcomed to The Mayhem airwaves by The Big Mosh, Blade, & “The Chairman Of The Board” Todd Vincent. With “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson leaving for World Wrestling Entertainment (along with Nigel McGuinness) after this weekend’s “Final Countdown Tour” in Boston & New York City is complete, Mosh started things off by asking Aries about competing against Danielson last Saturday in Chicago…possibly for the last time ever. “I’m sure there was lots of misty eyes in the crowd, and people are boohooing & saying their farewells. But all in all, it was just another day at the office for A Double. Got in the ring with someone who people call the best wrestler in the world, had one hell of a match. Probably one of my toughest title defenses to date, for either reign, and walked out of there ROH World Champion. And to have Bret Hart there, it was just one hell of a night there.”

With the aforementioned Danielson & McGuiness leaving for the WWE, Austin was asked if there is much more pressure on him as the ROH Champion & “the top dog” of Ring Of Honor now. “I think the company relied on me for a long time. You talk about pressure all the way back to my debut at Generation Next, when basically we were put in position where we had a lot of the company’s future riding on our backs, and we were thrust in the spot to either swim or sink…and we swam. I like to think every time I was put in a high pressure position, I’ve always delivered.”

With the upcoming “Glory By Honor VIII: The Final Countdown” show this Saturday night in NYC & the stacked card that Ring Of Honor is putting on (with Austin’s ROH Title match possibly being an afterthought, showing how big that night will be), how important is this event not only for ROH, but for all of professional wrestling? “Normally I’ll be insulted that a championship involving myself is kind of an afterthought on the card, but considering the events of the evening considering what we have with Bryan & Nigel, it’s totally fitting that they are taking center stage & get to lock it up one more time before they move onto their future endeavors. Obviously it’s going to be a lot of emotion, the place is going to be rockin’, and it’s going to be a big night for the company. But I don’t consider it bigger than any other night. We’ve sold out New York more than once, and it’s always a big deal, and ROH always delivers.”

Austin was asked about whether Nigel & Bryan will be able to succeed in World Wrestling Entertainment with all their talent & ability, and become lost in the WWE shuffle (ala Colt Cabana as Scotty Goldman). “These guys have proven themselves time & time again. And if they’re given the opportunity, they will succeed, and for all those marks who worry about what’s going to happen to their poor Bryan Danielson & Nigel McGuiness, they just need to relax. Stop taking it so damn seriously. There’s nothing more I hate than a wrestling snob. Quite frankly this is a business, and it’s about making money, and right now, the WWE is the place to make money. Obviously we love the art form & passion about what we do, but these guys wanna make some money. They put their time on this level, and I have no doubts that if given the opportunity, they’ll be successful, because that’s what they’ve done their whole career.”

With the successes of Aries in Ring Of Honor, alums of ROH such as CM Punk & “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe are at the top of the WWE (as the World Heavyweight Champion) & TNA (as the X-Division Champion) respectively. Austin was asked how it feels to be at the top with those guys who he worked & fought with in their early days. “From a professional standpoint, it’s always nice to see guys who have respect & passion for the business succeed, because it’s those guys when they are on top, they keep wrestling alive, and I hope it continues. Those guys put a lot of hard work in, and it’s nice to see that rewarded.”

With Ring Of Honor being seen throughout the United States on Monday nights now (on HDNet), and being the “lead-in” for many wrestling fans to Monday Night RAW (on the USA Network), many are saying that the WWE will see them as competition & try to ruin them. As seen recently, they have picked up two talents from the company (in “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson & Nigel McGuiness). Austin was asked to help soothe the fans’ worries about any rumors regarding a WWE raid” of ROH. “I think they are upset is because that percentage of the fan base look at Ring Of Honor as their own personal, pet wrestling promotion that’s just supposed to cater to their fancy, and that’s not the reality. I think the reality situation is if you’re WWE & you’re looking for talent, you’re gonna want the best guys out there, and you’re gonna look at Ring Of Honor, because that’s where the best talent is. Who knows, maybe I’ll be the next guy to go. You think Ring Of Honor would crumble? I don’t think so. Ring Of Honor has always been about the company. If you look at the history, there has been a lot of guys who have come & gone. A lot of top tier guys like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe…I could go on & on. But Ring Of Honor continues to roll. The only guy we can’t afford to lose is Cary Silkin. If the WWE signs him, we could have some problems.”

More is contained in this exclusive interview with the current, reigning, & defending Ring Of Honor World Champion Austin Aries, including his candid thoughts/comments on having Bret “Hitman” Hart being a strong part of the ROH fold this weekend, his potential forthcoming title defenses against such names as Tyler Black, ROH’s relationship with HDNet (and how he strongly believes both companies & entities help each other), & what he wants to strive for with his wrestling school.
Here are some of the highlights of the Bret’s exclusive interview, provided by The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson From New Jersey:

==================================================================================================================

“The Excellence Of Execution” joined The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network for his second-ever MNM appearance, this time to discuss his work with Ring Of Honor as part of their “Final Countdown Tour.” Bret was very candid with The Mayhem Crew about how happy he has been in this latest chapter, in working with ROH, since the summer. “Everything’s been really good. I’ve had a lot of fun so far with being part of this Ring Of Honor stuff for the last few months. I had a great time in Chicago, and I’m looking forward to going back to The Manhattan Center in New York. I have a lot of memories there, and I’m hoping a lot of my old fans come down just to say hi. For me, I always had my best fans in New York. If I could have one match in one place, it would be Madison Square Garden.”

Bret was part of the Ring Of Honor show last weekend in “The Windy City,” and many who attended the event have gone public about the tremendous fan interaction with Bret & the fans in attendance. Mosh asked “The Hitman” how has been working with Ring Of Honor so far to this point. “I have a lot of respect for the company & the wrestlers that work the shows. The wrestlers work really hard on the shows I’ve watched, and I just have respect for anyone who can just leave it on the field. For me it’s been a lot of fun, I’m kinda riding the coattails of the guys that are really doing all the work on these shows. I’m quite honored to be aligned with them & to help a little more attention to them.”

As part of “The Summer Of Mayhem 2009″ this July, Ring Of Honor’s Owner, Cary Silkin, appeared on the program, and said that he would love to have the opportunity & chance to sit down with Bret to see if a possible longer-term deal could happen for him to stay around as more of a permanent fixture than just the few appearances he is in the midst of right now. Hart was asked for his response & Cary’s Mayhem comments, and if any type of negotiations have started. “We’ve kinda talked about it a little bit, but we really never had that ‘heart-to-heart’ the way he talked about. I’m not sure what I could do for them. I sometimes feel I’m somewhat limited in what I can do and the different roles I could play in wrestling is quite limited. At the same time, I do have a lot of high regard for Ring Of Honor, and in a way they remind of my dad’s old Stampede Wrestling company. I’m confident that with or without me, or whatever role I could play with them, that they’re a company that’s gonna keep getting bigger & bigger, and that’s a credit to there fan base & the wrestlers that work for them every night.”

“The Chairman Of The Board” asked Bret what about Ring Of Honor made him want to work with them & what standout wrestlers has he seen so far in ROH. “I think what I liked about it was that they had AJ Styles for example, someone I have a lot of respect for. One of the first times I saw him was in Ring Of Honor. There’s a lot of guys like that. Teddy Hart, CM Punk…There’s a lot of guys that really stepped up a notch in the business & taken the business in a good direction right now with hard work. And that’s what I like about them the most.” And ROH guys that have caught his eye: “I’ll be honest with you, I’m not so familiar with many of the names. I know them all by face in the back. And I’ve talked to them like regular guys, but I’m not sure what their gimmick names are. I may not be much help to you on that.”

In addition to Bret Hart, Ring Of Honor has also recently used Ric Flair to help promote, and the history between “The Best There Is, The Best There Was, And The Best There Ever Will Be” & “The Nature Boy” is well known & well-documented. & Hart is well known. Both do not get along, and it pretty much started in a few books written by the two over the past several years. A clip was played from “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s appearance on The Mayhem this past August (as part of “The Summer Of Mayhem 2009″) about the two (saying the both should try to make peace with one another as much as possible, let it go, & move on), and Bret was asked to comment on the what Piper said & his feud with Flair. “Well I relate to what Roddy is saying. It’s not his place to get involved between the little ‘war of words’ between me & Ric Flair. But the truth is the ‘war of words’ between me & Ric Flair, I said my peace in my book. I was honest about my working relationship with Ric Flair, and it’s funny for guys like Hulk Hogan & Ric Flair to write stuff in their books and say what they want, and I don’t even know if I agree with their honesty in their books. But my book was very honest, and I just told the truth.” He continued, “To be honest, I don’t have a big issue with Ric Flair. I hope Ric Flair is well, and I have a lot of respect for Ric Flair at different levels. He was a great wrestler, one of the best-conditioned wrestlers, and these are things I said in my book. I just didn’t tear him down with no credit at all. I think he is a great wrestler, and he contributed a lot to the business over the years. Other than, there are no war of words. I respect what he has done, but I don’t know if I could agree with him. He’s the one who tries to belittle what I have accomplished in wrestling saying I never drew money & stuff like that. I stand for everything I’ve done in the business. I wrestled in front of audiences every night all around the United States, while in WCW Ric Flair wrestled in front of chairs every night…All in all I can say a lot of things about Ric Flair as a wrestler. It’s just unfortunate that he’s got a drinking problem, and it tends to shoot his mouth off sometimes, and that’s just more of a sad, pathetic state of affairs than anything else.”

At the latest WWE Pay-Per-View, Breaking Point, “The Montreal Screwjob” was redone once again (in the World Heavyweight Championship submission Match between CM Punk & The Undertaker), and many fans are getting more irritated at the fact that the WWE simply cannot let this go. Bret was asked for his candid thoughts about the events of last Sunday night & the chants of “You Screwed Bret” that not only echoed the confines of The Bell Centre, but The Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario the next night on RAW. “I have al ot of fans across Canada, so you’re get the same reaction in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, or anywhere else. But Montreal is especially sensitive to it. People second-guess me today & say ‘You should just done what you were told that day,’ and ‘he thought he was bigger than the business.’ I think people don’t understand sometimes what it was like for me & how much was at stake. I was on the verge of being a national hero up here at that time. Just winning the World Title made me a huge hero up here. To every Canadian, that was a huge thing, a big accomplishment, and when they tried to turn me into a heel and & say all those negative things about America, it did something for the Canadian fans, and gave them a platform & a voice.” Bret profoundly remembers telling Vince McMahon right before the ‘97 Survivor Series that he could not walk in that building in Montreal & lose. “The whole intention of everything they did that day was to tear me down as much as possible so I would mean nothing going into WCW.”

The History Of WWE.com’s Graham Cawthon asked Bret for his comments about the success of The Hart Dynasty (David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, & Natalya Neidhart) on SmackDown, as well as if he feels that the three are progressing in the right fashion. “I think they are all doing a great job. They’re getting better & better and more confident. Technically, they are as good as they’re gonna get, and they’re as good as anybody in the company when it comes to actually working. Their work stands on its own. I’m proud of all three of them.”

The big question that has been on the hearts & minds of wrestling fans across the globe is “Will Bret return to WWE TV?” “The Hitman” has done it all in the wrestling business, and with the recent news of his eldest daughter (Jade) expecting her first child (making Bret a grandfather for the first time), what else is left for him to do & accomplish? With the recent speculation that has made the rounds on the internet of Bret’s “imminent” WWE return, Mosh asked the man himself what’s next for him in the next phase of his career. “I’m just going to keep pulling one of my guiding rules in life, doing what makes me happy & taking good care of myself. I’ve done my hard work, and now, I’m just looking to fulfill whatever dreams I have left. I’ll like to write two or three more books about various topics, maybe even write some fictional books about wrestling.” Will Bret stay true to his Stampede Wrestling roots & potentially take the “Ambassador” role of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair in Ring Of Honor, or will he “head on home” to World Wrestling Entertainment & return as a regular character/personality on World Wrestling Entertainment television? All we can say is…Stay tuned…

More is contained in this exclusive Mayhem interview with the one & only “Excellence Of Execution,” including his uncensored thoughts/comments on if he has been approached by Hulk Hogan and/or Eric Bischoff to be a part of the forthcoming “Hulkamania” tour in Australia this November, the advice he has for both “The American Dragon Bryan Danielson & Nigel McGuinness as they get ready to depart Ring Of Honor for the WWE (and if he believes they have a good chance of success in World Wrestling Entertainment), the evolution of the Ladder Match over the years (and what he is looking forward to seeing most in this weekend’s ROH World Tag Team Title “Ladder War” between The American Wolves & Kevin Steen/El Generico), & so much more. Get ready for “the best there is, the best there was, & the best there ever will be,” as Bret “Hitman” Hart takes center stage for the MNM “Fall Tour ‘09!”

Bryan has been an exemplary talent and a wonderful member of the Ring of Honor locker room and family since the inception of the company. We couldn’t be happier for Bryan and all of his successes, many of which Ring of Honor has been proud to witness first hand.

We congratulate Bryan on the beginning of this next journey in his brilliant career, and wish him all the best as he progresses. Many Ring of Honor fans refer to Bryan as the “best in the world” and we look forward to looking on in earnest as he shows everyone watching the wrestling world’s biggest stage just why that is.

Bryan will appear as scheduled at all of the September Ring of Honor events. Please join us in Philadelphia, Dayton, Chicago, Boston, and New York as we say thank you and farewell to a truly one-of-a-kind talent.
