As 2011 ends and 2012 begins, it’s time for the 15th annual AS I SEE ITYear-End Review. As usual, I should note that my selections are based on whatI’ve actually seen this year, either live, online, on TV, or via tape/DVD;which primarily means North American wrestling.

A lot of fans are unaware how many days their favorite WWE superstars work a week. Some assume that they only work one night a week based on the fact that they only see them once a week on television.
If you missed the Tuesday October 4th edition of the Online World of Wrestling Radio with host Alan Wojcik with weekly contributors Spug. Here are the highlights:
The guys opened the show recapping week 2 of Ring of Honor TV plus the return to MTV2 of Lucha Libre USA. After a break Alan & Spug recapped TNA Impact Wrestling on Spike TV including new matches announced for the Bound for Glory PPV. Alan previewed this Thursday’s Knoxville based show and the rumors of Hulk Hogan retiring.
The 1st interview of the evening came courtesy of our friends at Crossfire Wrestling who will hold “A New Beginning” on November 5th in Nashville, TN. Former WWE/WCW superstar “Fit” Finlay joined the program to talk about his opponent Al Snow, growing up in a wrestling family, wrestling in Europe & Japan, joining WCW and did he regret signing with the promotion, moving to WWE and how he became the point person for the Diva’s division & more. I never want to hear CM Punk talk again. It will always begin with “I don’t believe [insert what just happened].” Also, if he drops the mic and says, “Pipe bomb”, I will figuratively die so hard that everyone will figuratively attend my funeral. How much could it possibly bother Triple H that his wife is Executive Vice President, Creative Development & Operations? This is overwrought. I know Punk does well on the microphone; it is proven, so why be a broken record? The new stipulation added to Night of Champions HAS TO BE the final nail in the coffin of this angle. If Punk wins, Triple H is fired, or rather, steps down as COO. Does this mean if he lost, he would still be under contract and would become a wrestler again full time? We have seen Triple H do it all over and over again. This would be awful. If Punk loses, will he be fired? Will we get more ridiculous stipulation matches? Man, this gives me a headache. Let’s get to the match at hand. It’s a NO DQ. This means Triple H will bleed a lot. Wait. Can’t they not bleed anymore? How imposing and scary could a NO DQ match be these days? The fact is Punk has been running on fumes, Nash is “released”, and Triple H is way past his prime. The wrestlers are willing to do the work, so WWE give them something to work with.

Jack E. Jones and OneInchBiceps are joined right off the bat with two guests on the show, a first for IYH! The Godwinns! Henry O. Godwinn & Phinias I. Godwinn, aka “Naked Mideon” Dennis Knight and Mark Cantabury, aka Southern Justice, aka Shanghai Pierce & Tex Slazenger, the list of names goes on and on. Jack feels the Southern Justice tag team could have been a bigger success and should have had a bigger run and both guests agree. Jack asks how often the guys talk to each other and they reply about once a week, and then suggest they may be moving in with each other and even marrying each other.
Well, so how was YOUR week? In the last week, I’ve felt an earthquake and went through a hurricane. Somehow as I write the last words of this on Monday morning, I’ve avoided flying monkeys and the Wicked Witch (then again, I AM watching RAW tonight…) to make the week complete. It seems strange that I’ve traveled to San Francisco five different times, including weeks after the 1989 earthquake…yet have never felt anything worse than fog in San Francisco. I’ve walked down their Market Street dozens of times…yet felt an earthquake for the first time while sitting in my office in Market Street in Philadelphia. Then there was Irene. I hope many of you reading this on the East Coast are safe, and have at worst suffered minimal damage or disruption. Other than scaring the shit out of me in anticipation…only very minimal effect in my part of South Jersey. There were floods in the usual areas around the Philadelphia region, but many areas seem to be getting back to normal…or at worst, have started cleaning up the effects. I was very lucky that the only thing happening to my neighborhood was a disruption in cable/internet/phone service for 12 hours.
