Guest Column: Tough WWE Schedule

Tough WWE Schedule

With so many wrestlers abusing substances, getting injured, and dying young, one place to point the finger at is the tough road schedule that they endure.

 Full Schedule

A lot of fans are unaware how many days their favorite WWE superstars work a week. Some assume that they only work one night a week based on the fact that they only see them once a week on television.

I gotta say this about WRESTLING

A drunken clown once told me “WRESTLING…. In Canada, it’s a Tradition… in Mexico, it’s a Religion…. in Japan, it’s a Sport… in America…. It’s a Joke.”

Now he told me he read that on a message board so if I’m ripping somebody off, I humbly apologize, but this is the most genius statement I’ve ever read! Its level of truth is unlimited..

A friend of mine  purchased a travel package to go to New York for five days to watch WrestleMania XX and take in all the festivities. Now THAT’S a mark! No, I take that back, THAT’S a WWE-mark! I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I’m glad you enjoy the WWE that much. Vince McMahon’s accountant says you’re not alone. But what I do take offense to is when you call yourself a “Wrestling Fan”……. Uhhhhh, stop the music, no, you are NOT a wrestling fan, you are a WWE fan! A “Wrestling Fan” or “Wrestling Mark” has seen all forms of the sport; Lucha Libre, Puroreso, Independant, and from its purest form back in the early 1900s, until the 1970s, BEFORE it was transformed into “Sports Entertainment”.

In case anyone has an issue with me saying in my AS I SEE IT columns that WWE is moving toward a “Fuzzy Bunny versus Sammy Squirrel” type product; and tell me I’m overdoing it about what I say, and want Ian Rotten’s IWA Mid-South Wrestling circa 2005 to be what we see on RAW…WWE.com gave us this only hours after I put up last week’s column:

Manager’s Corner: “Classy” Freddie Blassie

Manager’s Corner: “Classy” Freddie Blassie
Originally published on September 16, 2003

He was a man who kept giving. He was a man despised by many fans in the United States and overseas for his “Classy” Freddie Blassie character. Yet, when the curtain went down, Freddie Blassie, real name, Fred Blassman, was one of the most charitable men to ever step into a wrestling arena.

Freddie Blassie began his wrestling career at the ripe age of 17. Blassie, the son of blue collar working class parents, worked two jobs at this point in his life, serving as a butcher, while feeding his wrestling obsession during the evening.

During World War II, Blassie made the ultimate sacrifice, and gave of himself. Putting his life on the line, as part of what Tom Brokaw has called “The Greatest Generation” during that conflict.

The Short Bus: Second Chance

The Short Bus: Second Chance

What happens to someone when that individual commits a work violation? A couple of results, they are warned about the issue or the individual involved is dismissed from their duties. If the individual is warned about the issue, they have the opportunity to resolve the problem. Other the hand, if their dismissed, the employer may be losing a valued employee. Also, remember the employer choice is determined by the degree of issues that brought on the violation.

The Top 20 Heels of All-Time

The Top 20 Heels of All-Time

In my humble opinion, heels are the hardest workers of all in wrestling. Any shmuck can go out as a babyface and get cheered, but in order to get the crowd to REALLY hate you, and have them wishing that the babyface shmuck would tear your head off, you have to understand the ins-and-outs of wrestling and the psychology from start to end. I’m just a fan, but I recognise that it’s not as easy as it looks. The reaction a heel gets is often refered to as “heat” and in many cases, you either have it — or you don’t have it. These are some of the wrestlers and factions that exemplify that definition.

If John Cena is the hero then who is the villain?

Sunset Flip presents……

Batman & The Joker, Harry Potter & Voldemort, Superman & Lex Luther. What do these individuals have in common? Batman, Harry, and Superman are heroes and the Joker, Voldemort, and Lex are villains. However, there is something else about these six personalities and that’s there all intertwined with one other. Batman wouldn’t be a great hero without the Joker and the same with Harry and Superman arch villains. I bring up this discussion because of wrestling’s own “Superman,” John Cena.

African-American Wrestlers in the WWE

Will there ever be a top African-American wrestler in WWE? You may ask, why just WWE. Reason being, I’ve been watching WWE/WWF programming since I was young. My sweat, tears, and passion is more with WWE/WWF wrestlers, programming, etc. However, with everything I mentioned, there is also sorrow. The sorrow and sadness comes from the terrible and sometimes disrespectful representation of African-American wrestlers over the years. With that being said, I won’t say there hasn’t been some strong African-American personalities. I began watching WWF programming when I was six and that when I was introduced to one of those strong personalities, “The Nation Of Domination”.
