WRESTLING COLUMNS

My Top Ten Greatest Matches in Wrestling!
July 1, 2004 by Terry M.

Number 10

Mick Foley (Mankind) vs. The Undertaker in a Hell in the cell match. This is probably the most memorable Hell in a cell because Mick Foley was through off the Cell through the Table! Also Mick Foley got Choke-slammed through the roof and a chair cam crashing down sending a tooth up his nose>

Number 9

Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at Wrestle Mania 13 in a Submission match. A great match with this moment ^. Bret Hart one the match, Austin didn't tap out though; he passed out.

Number 8

Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) defeated Shawn Michaels in a ladder match. This was the SECOND ever Ladder match and the first in WWE. Sawn Michaels jumped off the top but Razor Ramon managed to beat Shawn Michaels to become the WWE Undisputed Intercontinental Champion.

Number 7

Chris Benoit beat Kurt Angle in a Ultimate Submission match at Backlash 2001, this was a great Technical match with lots of great submissions.

Number 6

Shawn Michaels bet the Undertaker in the first Hell in a Cell match, with help from Undertakers "brother" Kane that made his debut. This match was also for the European title, but not many people noticed that.

Number 5

Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle at Wrestle Mania XIX for the WWE Title. The highlight of this match was when Brock went for the shooting Star Press and landed on his head as seen above. That was supposed to be the finish, but Brock just hit another F-5 to win the WWE Title.

Number 4

Not really a great match, but a great moment. Brock Lesnar Super-Plexed the Big Show off the top rope and the ring collapsed!

Number 3

Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon at King Of The Ring 2001. The highlights of this match were when Kurt Angle belly to bellied Shane through the call but it didn't break and when he Angle Slammed him off a board.

Number 2

Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior for the WWE and I.C. title. This match was just perfect, and a great finish too. After this Hulk Hogan put on another great Performance 12 years later against The Rock at Wrestle Mania 18.

AND finally the Number 1 spot goes too.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat for the WWE I.C. title at Wrestle Mania III. This was just a great match and went on for a pretty long time. This is a match no one will probably ever forget. And neither will I.

While I agree with most of your matches, I feel there is one match left off, that should be included. That match being, Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels- 60 Minute Iron Man Match from Wrestlemania. That match, was great, one of the all time bests, and it's left out" While Brock Lesnar superplexing The Big Show is left in. I find that... revolting to say the least.

This article first off should be titled IMO. It started out good with 10-8, but then matches that were no where close to 10-8 were beating them with the exception of hogan/warrior, macho/steamboat. Brock Lesnar superplexing the big show""""" Why, what impact did that have on the sport. Wheres Flair/steamboat, hbk/hart wm12, flair/macho wm8, flair/whindam, hart/piper, hart/perfect, flair/sting, most importantly where is Hogan/Andre the biggest event of all time doesnt make your list. I dont mean to attack you or insult you but this list is missing alot IMO.

OK, So i was reading your top ten matchs and i was thinking to myself " What the hell is going on!" You missed out some of the most entertaining matchs of all time. Now i do agree with a couple of your picks but not all of them. So i'll show you my top ten greatest wrestleing matchs of all time.(not in order).

1.Six Man Hell in the Cell for WWE Championship. Kurt Angle (Champion) Vs The Rock Vs Triple H Vs Rikishi Vs Undertaker Vs Kane. To me this match was just OFF THE HOOK!

2.Kurt Angle Vs The Rock for the WWE Championship at No Way Out. This match showed a hell of a lot of talent and again it was just sooooooooooo entertaining.

3.Triple H Vs "Stone Cold" Steve Austin at No Way Out, best two out of three pin falls. The first fall was a straight up wrestling match, second was a street fight and the third being a cage match. The cage match was probably the best part of this match but the street fight was also great. And for all of you guys who have seen this match than you know what i'm talking about.

4.Chris Benoit beat Kurt Angle in a submission matcn at Backlash. Just like you said it was a great technical match.

5.Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle at Wrestle Mania 19. To me the best part of this match was when Angle kick-out of the F-5! Something that no one had done until that night.

6.Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon at King Of The Ring 2001. Again just a great wrestling match with two great wrestlers.

7.Cactus Jack Vs Triple H in a Hell in the Cell. This match was going to be Foley's last match but instead they brought him in at WM 16 in the main event.

8.The Rock Vs "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for the WWE Cahmpionsip at WM17. So what if this match had a screw job ending! It was still a great match.

9.Kurt Angle Vs Chris Benoit in a Cage matchj on Raw. I think this match made Chris Benoit. Ven though it would take him like 4 years after this match to win the World title, i think that this match really showed what he could do.

10.Mankind Vs Taker Hell in the Cell. This probably isn't one of the greatesr WRESTLING match's of all time. But there sure as hell were ALOT of risks taken in this match which made it very entertaining. Come to think of it Foley was the only guy to actually take the risks in this match lol.
