On June 26th, Wrestling Weekly hosts Doc Young and Les Thatcher were
joined by former WWE Superstar, Doug Basham

Doc & Les were joined this week on Wrestling Weekly by featured guest – former WWE superstar and current TNA wrestler, Doug Basham. They discussed the following:

– Doug training under his uncle, Danny Davis, in Louisville for Ohio Valley Wrestling 

– Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and the roster they had who are now WWE Superstars like Batista, John Cena and Shelton Benjamin 

-  Basham noted that he would be better suited as a singles wrestler, and he would like to perform in that capicity                               

– Doug discussed feuding with his brother Danny Basham when Jim Cornette wrote/booked for Ohio Valley

– Doug Basham then spoke about his in-ring style, which he highlighted is technical but said he could learn more about the entertainment aspect                                                                                               
– Tommy Dreamer, Val Venis are mentioned by Les who were wrestling for OVW while Basham was there and Doug notes he got to work against them

– His thoughts on Christy Hemme

– Doug is asked about himself and his brother working as the secretaries of defence for JBL in WWE, which Basham replied by saying “I loved it…it was probably one of the highlights of my career in the WWE”. Doug Basham goes onto discuss JBL and his commentary which he says is entertaining.

– Working as one of the security officers for Paul Heyman in ECW

– Doug is asked if he would consider competing in mixed martial arts but he replies that he doesn’t think that his body could handle it because of the bumps and injuries from professional wrestling but Basham notes that he’s a MMA fan.

– His favourites to work against were Eddie Guerrero “everything was so easy, we had great chemistry”. Doug Basham continues by saying Chris Benoit too.

– Doug then talks about Chris again emotionally, referring to the tragic event by saying people have formed opinions without knowing him. He then somberly asks that the subject be changed. 

– Wrestling on “SmackDown!” with his “brother” The Damaja and he says that they clicked and he’s tagged with him most throughout his career & talks about Shanquia too.

– Working against Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty, which he says was entertaining and very fun

– Doug talks about being a wrestling fan, mainly watching USWA and occasionally “Saturday Nights Main Event” with his favourites including The Bushwhackers & continues by saying how he got into the business and about his athletic background

– His first job in wrestling was working for the Jarrett’s at USWA in 1993

– Doug is asked about working against wrestles who he watched as a fan and he mentions working with Superstar Bill Dundee, former NWA World Champion, ‘Wildfire’ Tommy Rich and ‘Nature Boy’ Buddy Landell. Basham also notes that as a WCW fan, he got to work against Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit

– Doug Basham then talks about his future in wrestling and highlights that he’s taking bookings at [email protected] and is living in Tampa
