King Kong Bundy 2

Christopher Pallies is better known by his ring name, King Kong Bundy.  He has had a productive career as a wrestler, stand-up comedian, and actorCertainly Bundy achieved his most mainstream success in the WWF in the 1980s and 1990s.  Bundy squashed S.D. Jones at the first Wrestlemania.  Bundy, along with his tag partner Big John Studd, then had legendary battles with Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan.  Bundy even headlined WrestleMania 2 against Hulk Hogan in a steel cage match for the WWF championship.  Years later, Bundy was the Undertaker’s victim at WrestleMania XI.  WWF play-by-play commentator Gorilla Monsoon dubbed Bundy as the “Walking Condominium”, one of the best nicknames in wrestling history!

World Class Championship Wrestling in Dallas:

  • Christopher Pallies began his career as a face in Fritz von Erich’s World Class Championship Wrestling as Big Daddy Bundy.
  • ~~~Famous WCCW promoter, Fritz Von Erich, turned him heel and gave him the name “King Kong” Bundy.
  • 1982: King Kong Bundy held the World Class Championship Wrestling American Heavyweight title in Texas.
  • March 15, 1982 – WCCW: Kevin and Kerry von Erich vs Gary Hart and King Kong Bundy in a Texas Death Cage match (No Contest).
  • June 4, 1982: King Kong Bundy wrestled in Fritz Von Erich’s retirement match, losing the American Heavyweight title.
  • June 4, 1982 – WCCW: Fritz Von Erich beat Bundy in a Falls Count Anywhere match to win the WCCW American title.
  • August 15, 1982 – World Class Championship Wrestling: Bundy vs Harley Race ended in a DOUBLE DQ.

Mid-South Wrestling:

  • Bill Watts (who ran Mid-South Wrestling) came up with the 5-count gimmick.
  • ~~~Bundy would insist the referee count FIVE instead of the traditional THREE, a gimmick he would use later in the WWF.

World Wrestling Federation – Managed by Jimmy Hart:

  • King Kong Bundy was working for New Japan Pro Wrestling when he visited Minnesota and met Hulk Hogan.
  • ~~~Hulk Hogan suggested that he call Vince McMahon – Soon Bundy was in the World Wrestling Federation!

  • September 10, 1985: Bobby Heenan announced that King Kong Bundy was the newest member of his Heenan Family on Piper’s Pit.

  • 1994: King Kong Bundy made a brief return as a member of the of the Million Dollar Corporation.

  • November 23, 1994 – Survivor Series: Million Dollar Team defeated Guts and Glory in a Survivor Series match.
