Default what was the best year in wrestling history?

you read the question. there have been alota years in wrestling, but what was the best year of all time?

im going with 2004, evolution, ROH and TNA were beginning to take off, paul heyman had smackdown shooting off, tag team and cruiserweight wrestling were alive and well for the last time in history were being treated well under paulE, eddie was alive and making us all laugh, benoit won the royal rumble, cena and orton were starting to come out on there own. Triple h was........killing raw..........but bishoff and paul E were bringing two of wrestlings brightest minds into one place.

whats your favorite year

For me it was 2006. Why? Still got to be able to see some fun USA Pro shows while discovering ROH. I also got the see the best wrestling show I've ever seen live, ROH's Glory By Honor V n.2. All other shows since have been compared to that.

Plus I got to see the Kings of Wrestling and Homicide win ROH gold.

Good times.

2002. Sure TV wise, the WWF/WWE wasn't so great, but the PPVs, OH THE PPVS!!! Plus it was the return of Chris Benoit AND Eddie Guerrero!!!!!!

Then you add the debuts of Cena, Orton, Batista, Mysterio, Noble and Lesnar, the return of the NWO (at the beginning, it was good, after WM 18............meh), The Rock vs Hogan, Michaels vs HHH, Benoit vs RVD, Guerrero vs RVD, Angle vs Mysterio, Taker vs Lesnar, Angle vs Edge, Benoit vs Angle and Edge vs Guerrero, and there are MANY more great matches that I could mention.

And this was the year that RVD, Booker T, Lance Storm, Edge and Christian were REALLY noticed as wrestlers. And if you don't believe me, check out the title history for 2002 and tell me that all of these guys didn't win at least ONE title that year. Plus all of them were apart of at least ONE feud.

RVD: Titles - IC title (3 times) Feuds - Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Triple H

Booker T: Titles - Hardcore title (2 times), World Tag Team titles (with Goldust, 1 time) Feuds - Un-Americans, Chris Jericho

Lance Storm: Titles - World Tag Team titles (with Christian, 1 time) Feuds - Booker T and Goldust

Edge: Titles - World Tag Team titles (with Hogan, 1 time), WWE Tag Team titles (with Mysterio) Feuds - William Regal, Kurt Angle, Un-Americans, Eddie Guerrero, Eddie and Chavo Guerrero, Angle and Benoit

Christian: Titles - World Tag Team titles (with Lance Storm and Chris Jericho, 2 times), Hardcore title (1 time) Feuds - DDP, Edge and Hogan, Booker T and Goldust

Plus the debut of the Elimination Chamber and the World Heavyweight title and the retirement of the European and Hardcore titles. And how could you mention WWF/WWE 2002 without bringing up the Smackdown Six (Eddie,Chavo,Angle,Benoit,Edge,Mysterio) Heyman's greatest gift to the WWE, besides his great management work.

This is really all in what your tastes are. While I did thoroughly enjoy wrestling in the mid to late 1990's, I will have to go a little further back and go with 1987. Bare with me now.

1987, I was 9 years old. I had been watching for 3 years at that point and where I lived at in Michigan, the young Comcast Cable had all kinds of wrestling on. I had access to WWF, NWA, AWA, World Class, UWF, CWA, and dang it I can't remember the name of the organization out of Quebec. I want to say IWA. It was nothing on a Saturday to catch WWF, UWF, and later that night NWA. All week long Monday to Friday at 4PM on ESPN was either AWA or World Class. 1987 also gave us Wrestlemania III. Arguably one of the top 3 WM's of all time. Giving us the legendary Hogan vs. Andre and Savage vs. Steamboat matches.

The other great thing about this time was how important titles were. I can remember when Steamboat captured the IC title. My friends were calling my house. It was all any of the boys at school could talk about. You just don't see or hear that anymore. Then add in having just about the entire LJN WWF line of figures plus ring and cage, and all of the REMCO AWA figures with ring and cage and it was a great time to be a kid and a wrestling fan.

The best year of wrestling is probably something from the 1980s when WWF, NWA, Memphis, World Class, Mid South and AWA were all hot. I'm sure there had to be one year when all those promotions were gangbusters. There was just so much wrestling in those days.

It's funny somebody mentioned 2006. That was the year I started becoming less of a wrestling fanatic. I was so tired of Cena in WWE. JBL retired, the Spirit Squad's push fizzled, Angle left WWF, RVD's long awaited push fizzled, the potentially awesome ECW rebirth was not handled to my liking. Outside of WWE, my last live ROH show was that year. I also stopped buying ROH and Indie tapes. That's also about the time I realized TNA was never going anywhere.

Don't hate on Triple H in 2004. The HHH-lead Evolution made Raw a much better show than the woeful Smackdown that year.

My personal favorite year would have to be 1997. I loved WWF that year, finally got around to seeing ECW and while I hated WCW, it was at least fun to root against them. That passion is long dead.
