Happy Halloween!  Kids coming to school today dressed up (unless some busybody stopped it there because of “safety”, religious fanatics, or “not wanting to exclude certain kids”), cute little kids knocking at your door (be sure you have candy and maybe something for kids who can’t eat candy…including peanuts), the last two weekends of Halloween themed bar crawls, pumpkin spice everything for weeks, people with Clinton and Trump masks for Halloween (and some people reacting accordingly).

Last night, WWE presented an historic PPV in Hell In A Cell, with Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks main-evening the PPV…in Hell In A Cell. Vince McMahon was reportedly against them doing so…but I have a feeling this morning is glad he allowed himself to be talked out of his objection.
The two women worked a main event worthy match, with the traditional WWE storytelling at the beginning, teasing a Banks injury before the match event started, and once Banks did the “heroic coming off the stretcher” bit, beat the crap out of each other.

No Diva match this…this was a women’s WRESTLING match throughout. The whole idea of Flair as the “genetically superior” athlete…but who had to cheat in a sense in jumping Sasha Banks leaves a further story to tell, if WWE is going there starting tonight.

I HAVE to ask this, though. WHY does WWE insist of having people job in their hometowns? It’s been a WWE practice for years…and I don’t understand it. Charlotte Flair getting the belt, and Sasha Banks chasing I understand. But why last night in Boston?
After today, we pretty much are in the holidays. Your friendly not-so-local retail mega-store has killed millions and million of trees to print advertisements to sell you and I all sorts of goodies. Holiday-themed TV ads have been running everywhere, and Hallmark Channel is yet again plugging their Christmas movies. Pretty soon, people will maul each other to get the newest iThing…a replacement for their Samsung Note 7… or even something for their kids.
In keeping with the actual spirit of the seasons… the season of light and the season of the Christchild, the wrestling community will reach out to those in need. Independent promotions hold a wide variety of events to benefit various food pantries, fundraisers for homeless or domestic violence shelters…and Toys for Tots drives.
Over the years, promotions in the Philadelphia area ranging from the family-friendly United Wrestling Coalition to the hardcore-themed Combat Zone Wrestling, to independents of various sizes and types throughout the United States and Canada hold them. If you’re a independent wrestling promotion, and you HAVEN’T thought of doing a charity-themed holiday show to give back to your community….time to start planning.
