Colt Cabana versus Adam Pearce

Seven Levels of Hate

For the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship

Stage One: May 13, 2012 – NWA Hollywood – Glendale, CA

Colt Cabana beat Adam Pearce Sunday night at the NWA Hollywood TV tapings in Glendale, CA in a first blood match in the first of their best of seven matches series for the NWA heavyweight title.  Match No. 2 takes place on 6/8 in Bridgewater, MA for New England Championship Wrestling in a Boston street fight.  Match No. 3 will be 7/7 in Hopkins, MN for Steel Domain Wrestling (where both wrestlers worked early in their careers) in an I quit match.

Stage Two: June 8, 2012 – New England Championship Wrestling – Bridgewater, MA

The NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship was on the line as Colt Cabana (Champion) faced “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce (Challenger) in a Boston Street Fight. It was clear early on that the ring would not be able to contain this war as the action spilled to the outside and all over the Knights of Columbus. No chair, table, or wall was safe as these two warriors battled to every corner of the building. In the end, a bloodied Pearce fell victim to Cabana’s Billy Goat’s Curse submission hold, and despite not submitting, passed out from the pain and the blood loss, giving Cabana another victory and a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Stage Three: July 7, 2012 – Steel Domain Wrestling – Hopkins, MN

Stage Four: July 21, 2012 – Metro Pro Wrestling – Kansas City, KS

Stage Five (if necessary): August 18, Boston, MA

Stages Six and Seven, if they become necessary, will be announced as scheduled.

Ticket information, stipulation details, and more will be released as it becomes available.

06/26/2012 – NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling Report from Warner Robins on 6/24

From Larry Goodman:

NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling taped two hours of television at Johnny G’s in Warner Robins, GA on Sunday, June 24.

It was a good show. Technically speaking, RPW has the best wrestling in the state of Georgia, and I enjoy the product on that level. If anything, RPW has too much wrestling and a shortage of compelling soap opera elements. The stories make sense but they don’t generate much gut level reaction.

There were 80 in attendance, which was more or less the same as crowds for recent TV tapings. Their TV show gets impressive ratings in nearby Macon, but doesn’t seem to help with drawing fans to the live events. I suspect that running at 3pm on Sunday is a big part of the problem. The fans were into the characters and stories throughout the show, but you wouldn’t know it from the volume level. It’s such an acoustically dead room that it never gets very loud, and that doesn’t do their TV show any favors.

Pre-show, Ben Masters sad that due to a computer crash, there would be no entrance music. This was particularly bad news for visiting NWA North American Heavyweight Champion Shaun Tempers, who has one of the more entertaining entrances around.

(1)Drew Adler defeated Bobby Moore (with Charlie Cash) to retain the NWA RPW TV Title in 9:07. Adonis (with a bandage covering his broken orbital bones) joined Bill Behrens on commentary. Adler overcame Moore’s underhanded tactics until Cash interfered. Moore’s alligator mouth was working while he was on the offensive. Moore hung Adler in the tree of woe but ended up sliding his crotch into the post when Adler moved. Adler got near falls with a falcon arrow and a tornado DDT. Adler then withstood every legal move Moore could throw at him. Moore went to the loaded elbow pad, but before he could use it, Adler hit the Drew Drop (Air Raid Crash) for the pin. Good opener. The near falls down the stretch worked. Adler continues to improve in the ring, and the time in the gym is paying off. If you think he’s over pushed as TV champion, think again.

Afterward, Mike Posey clocked Adler with the title and said the belt was coming his way.

(2) In a first round Rampage Tournament Cup match, Hot Like Lava (Cru Jones & Shaun Banks) defeated BFFs (“Marvelous” Michael Stevens & “Adorable” Anthony Andrews) in 7:45. Lava (multiple time tag champs) had to earn their way into the tournament, while the upstart rivals, the Washington Bullets, were granted a spot. Lava is in a weird position. No matter what they do, they get cheered by a majority of the RPW fans. In any case, they were clearly positioned at the babyface in this match. BFF’s tried to deny their gayness. The crowd wasn’t buying it. Lots of at comedy at BFFs expense and it worked. Cru got a pop for kicking Andrew’s headband into the first row. Cru went after Marv and the protein jar and got clipped by Andrews. BFFs worked over Cru’s knee for the majority of the match. The fans chanted for Cru’s excruciating crawling tag. The finish saw Lava hit a tandem Nirvana Strangle Drop on Stevens and his was pinned by Banks.

(3) Shaun Tempers defeated Cedric Alexander to retain the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship in 10:40. Crowd was chanting for Cedric early. Alexander wowed the crowd with explosive leapfrogs and a high drokick, as he kept the pressure on the champion’s arm. Alexander got carried away with the acrobatics, and Tempers was able to crotch him on the top turnbuckle to take over. Tempers busted out a a Gori Guerrero Especial. Alexander looked exceptionally crisp o his comeback. Tempers was in deep doo-do. Alexander hit a flip dive and rolled Tempers back into the ring for a near fall. Tempers hit his hangman’s neckbreaker out of nowhere for the pin. Crowd in stunned silence at first. RPW fans are noted for being tough on officials and they then got pissed at referee Dee Byers for being slow to count Alexanders’ final pin attempt. A very good match. Alexander has always been athletic and acrobatic, but his execution was erratic. Not anymore.

The crowd popped for Sal Rinauro coming out to do commentary with Behrens.

(4) Kyle Matthews defeated Jeremy Vain to retain the NWA RPW Heavyweight Championship in 14:15. Vain took tons of abuse from Matthews’ strikes and was literally getting his ass kicked, until he reversed a suplex. Vain zeroed in on Matthews’ low back. Vain was huffing and puffing and getting nowhere fast, but he kept cutting Matthews off as the frustration mounted. Vain rolled through on a Matthews’ flying bodypress and got a near fall using the tights. Vain stunned Matthews with the VKO. His top rope elbow connected but Matthews kicked out. A colossal collision left both men down. Jimmy Rave ran out and slid the title to Matthews, but the champion would have none of that. Vain gave Matthews a DDT, but while referee Dustin Robinson was preoccupied with Rave, KC McKnight jumped in and hit a dragon suplex on Vain. Matthews had no clue about the assist, and hit the Slurpee Kick to pin Vain. Another fine match. It looked like they were giving everything they had. Vain and Matthews play beautiful music together.

(5) Leon McMichaels defeated Mike Posey in 6 minutes. Merely a light work out for Posey. McMichaels had the crowd at the start, but his work is so subpar by RPW standards that he lost them. That junk won’t fly at RPW. Posey humiliated McMichaels and stretched his ass. McMichaels mangled the set up for Posey’s finisher. Adler came to ringside, and Posey got preoccupied with his presence, allowing McMichaels to cradle Posey for the pin.

Adler raised McMichaels’ hand. McMichaels was jumping for joy. Posey threw a fit, prompting a “you got beat”chant.

Murder One entered the ring. Murder said this was where he calls out his former partner, AJ Steele, and AJ beats him down, except it wasn’t 1985 and it wasn’t a Jim Crockett ring. Murder said AJ wasn’t coming because he was dealing with a trained killer.

They rolled the video of what Murder did to Steele two weeks ago…Steele called Murder out. Murder came out puffing on a cigar. Steele chased Murder into the back, but Murder ambushed Steele and extinguished his cigar in Steele’s eye. Officer (and injured RPW wrestler) Chris Jacobs intervened and called for back up.

Murder ran Steele down for using 5-0 to save him. That brought Jacobs to ringside. Murder asked is his music was too loud, or perhaps Jacobs was gonna run his name for stolen merch. The refs came out to hold Jacobs back, and that’s when Murder went into overdrive. Murder said Officer Dengle should stick to answering 911 calls at the Blue Oyster Bar, because this was grown man’s business. Murder said Jacobs had no jurisdiction in the Dark City. As the refs hauled Jacobs away, Murder bragged about punking out a cop. Murder was awesome here. It was the most emotionally impactful segment of the show.

(6) First Round Rampage Cup Tournament Match – Jimmy Rave Approved (Chip Day & Corey Hollis) defeated Washington Bullets (Jon & Trey Williams) in 10:30. Bullets did a three amigos sequence where they each did one suplex and did a combo for the third one. Hollis snapped Jon’s neck off the top rope and it was advantage Rave Approved. The match started falling apart after the hot tag. Hollis kicked out of a Bullets double team. Day pulled Jon out of the ring and kicked hs face off. Approved double teamed Trey, but Jon made the save. Jon hit the mother of all backcrackers on Hollis. Hollis bumped like he was shot out of a cannon. Hot Like Lava came to ringside. Bullets hit stereo dives on Lava. That gave Hollis time to recover, and he forearmed Trey into oblivion for the pin. An OK match, but they got off track trying to do too much stuff after the hot tag.

A creepy video of former Rave Approved member Patrick Bentley video played on the big screen. Bentley’s psychiatrist needs to up his dose of Invega immediately. The video concluded with blood dripping onto a Rave Approved shirt. Hollis and Day were a understandably disturbed by this. Fans chanted “Patrick’s coming!”

(7) Shaun Tempers defeated KC McKnight to retain the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship in 12:40. Vain replaced Rinauro on color commentary. McKnight was manhandling the champion. In desperation, Tempers fired McKnight’s shoulder into the ringpost. Tempers worked over McKnight’s shoulder for a long time. Tempers blocked McKnight’s first attempt at the dragon suplex, but McKnight hit it the second time around. Tempers rolled out of the ring. Vain ran down from the announcer’ boot and squirted the Temptation spray into McKnight’s eyes, and Tempers covered for the pin. This did not endear referee Byers to the RPW fans, but it did make two good matches for Tempers against two quality opponents. McKnight has been one hell of an addition to the RPW roster. He’s a hardnosed, hardworker and he’s flat out good in the ring, which is an unbeatable combination for a babyface in Warner Robins.

(8) 2nd Round Rampage Cup Tournament Match – Jimmy Rave & Kyle Matthews defeated J Rod & Frankie Valentine in 17:37. Strong storytelling and a competive match where everyone looked good. Rave avoided all contact with J Rod. Matthews was not happy about his partner’s chicken **** tactics. Matthews took punishment but was able to make a tag. Rave hit the shining wizard on J Rod, and the shadow STO on Valentine. Rave and Matthews took turns putting Valentine in the camel clutch. Valentine finally worked his way free, hit a blockbuster, and the tags were made. Rave and J Rod finally squared off. J Rod and Valentine hit a double team version of Frankie’s finisher on Rave, but Matthews made the save. Rave speared J Rod for a two count, while Matthews hit a tope on Valentine. Rave and Matthews teamed up for a superplex/top rope splash on J Rod for another near fall. Valentine moonsaulted onto Rave for a two count. But Rave speared J Rod into the corner, and Matthews followed with the superkick for the three count.

Postmatch, Moore attacked Valentine. JRod didn’t help his partner, and fans were all over him for it. Matthews saved, but an unidentified individual that could have passed for Moore’s lanky brother attacked Matthews. Moore and the new member of Cash Vault left Valentine and Matthews laying.

The unidentified new member of Cash Vault hails from the Carolinas. As the Baron used to say,.that is all you need to know…Marko Polo and Nina Monet from PCW/EMPIRE were in the house…Chris Jacobs is out of action due to an injury suffered in the line of duty…Davey Richards and Kyle O’Reilly return on July 22…Rob Adonis will be undergoing surgery to repair two broken bones under his eye. Adonis sad that if all goes well, he could be back in action within a month…Sal Rinauro has secured a position with TNA working in the merchandise area under former NWA Main Event TV announcer Jason James…Kyle Matthews debuts from NWA Smoky Mountain on June 30 in Kingsport…Chip Day & Corey Hollis are the tag team champions for Carolina indie Pro Wrestling Xperience. PWX runs in Charlotte on July 6 with Day Hollis defending in a four corner match that includes Briscoe Brothers and Cedric Alexander & Caleb Konley.

NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling results for 6/24/2012.

by Daniel Lee Lumm

.

NWA RPW Television Championship Match

Drew Adler (C)  defeated “Hit for Hire” Bobby Moore (w/ Charlie Cash) via pinfall

Referee: Dustin Robinson

Rob Adonis goes to commentary. A heavy offensive, complete with cheap tactics and help from Cash, kept Moore on top of things for a while. A missed baseball slide put Moore at Adler’s mercy for a while. Moore is ultimately put down by the Drew Drop when he tried to utilize a loaded elbow pad. After the match, Mike Posey attacks Adler and makes it clear that he wants the Television Title.

Rampage Cup Round 1

Hot Like Lava (Shaun Banks & Cru Jones) defeated BFF (Michael Stevens & Anthony Andrews) via pinfall

Referee: Stan Robinson

Anytime these two teams step in the ring, the fans stay entertained. Marv goes to use the jar that BFF brought out with them but is stopped by the ref, allowing Hot Like Lava to capitalize and pick up the win.

NWA North American Heavyweight Championship Match

“The Temptation” Shaun Tempers (C) defeated Cedric Alexander via pinfall

Referee: Dee Byers

Cedric has the support of the crowd and Tempers is met with little feedback, all of which was negative for his RPW debut. Tempers picks the win up with a sitting neckbreaker. The crowd doesn’t react much to Tempers as he celebrates and leaves.

Sal Rinauro joins Bill Behrens on commentary.

NWA RPW Heavyweight Championship Match

Kyle Matthews (C) defeated “Untouchable” Jeremy Vain via pinfall\

Referee: Dustin Robinson

This felt like a lengthy match. Rave runs out and encourages Matthews to hit Vain with the belt. While the ref is tending to Rave, Vain takes advantage but is cut short by KC McKnight, who lays him out for Matthews to land the slurppy kick pick up the victory.

Leon McMichaels defeated Mike Posey via pinfall

Referee: Dee Byers

Leon takes a beating through most of the match, but a distraction from Adler gives him enough time to capitalize and pick up the win. Maybe it was just me, but Posey and Leon didn’t seem to really be on the A-Game for this match. Regardless, the crowd loved Drew’s appearance and Leon finally stopping his losing streak.

Murder 1 came out to cut a promo. He talks about what happened behind the curtain at the last show (shown exclusively on the broadcast of RPW). Murder comments on how Officer Chris Jacobs came to the aid of AJ Steele when he put his lit cigar in AJ’s eye and how Steele is nothing more than a fake who befriends the police. Jacobs comes out to confront Murder and is initially held back by officials, but Murder invites him into the ring with a promise that he will get laid out and Jacobs eventually steps back and leaves.

Sal Rinauro jumps back onto commentary.

Rampage Cup Round 1

Jimmy Rave Approved (Chip Day & Corey Hollis) defeated Washington Bullets (Jon & Trey Williams)

Referee: Stan Robinson

The match was pretty strait forward. Hot Like Lava, in their first heel move in weeks, come out to distract the Bullets long enough for Approved to pick up the win. Another video from the strange anonymous person apparently in some form of psychosis making It clear that he was coming for Jimmy Rave Approved. The fans instantly assume that Patrick Bentley is the one in the video.

(I had important personal matters to tend to, and I had start stepping out at this point. I caught pieces of the next match and had to leave during the last match. The results from here came from the help of Ben Masters and Tanika Thompson)

In the second NWA North American Heavyweight Title defense of the night, Shaun Tempers defeated KC McKnight with the help of Jeremy Vain, who was on commentary.

In the 2nd Round of the Rampage Cup, Jimmy Rave and Kyle Matthews defeated J-Rod & Frankie Valentine to advance to the finals. After the match, Cash Vault ran out and attacked Valentine. J-Rod constantly made it appear that he was going to help, but instead just left Valentine to endure the punishment. This attack marked the debut of a “highly  scored prospect…” as Cash described him.

APW TAG CHAMPS:   VAIN & TALENT

NWA NORTH GEORGIA CHAMP:   JAMES BLVD

NWA SOUTHERN STATES CHAMP:    STRYKNYN

APW 6-22-12

NWA Southern States Champion Stryknyne def. Scott Mayson by pinfall in 3:03

-Post match, Stryknyne called out Henry and told him that the road that he and Henry were on to Freedom Fight 2012 was a familiar one, and that Henry had no idea what he was getting himself into this time. Henry did not come out, so Stryknyne exited the ring holding his title high.

J.T. Talent and Jeremy Vain(Untouchable Talent and the APW Tag Team Champions) came out to the ring to host the Talent Show. They told the audience that on this night, the first ever Untouchable Talent Tag Team Invitational was to take place. To determine who would face them for their Tag Team Titles at Freedom Fight 2012. As they were finishing up, Revolution and Ballenger(Members of Heavy Metal) came to the ring and told Talent and Vain that them not being scheduled in the Invitational tournament was on outrage. So Vain and Talent told them that to save them from the possibility of being embarrassed in the future, that they were going to give Revolution and Ballenger their shot right now.

APW Tag Team Championship

Revolution and Ballenger(Heavy Metal) def. Untouchable Talent(c) by pinfall in 11:00

-The match ended in a sour way, Revolution and Talent were in a lockup, when Revolution racked the eyes of Talent. This caused him not to be able to see at all, when his partner Vain went to check on him, Talent had no idea who he was. Thinking it was Revolution, he hits his finisher on Vain, with Vain out cold, Revolution throws Talent out of the ring, and pins Vain(Vain was the legal man) and allows Revolution and Ballenger to become the new APW Tag Team Champions!

Jacoby Boykins comes to the ring, stating why he costed Dustin Knight his #1 Contenders’ match last week. He said that because Knight eliminated him from the GameChanger Rumble, that it ate him up. And everytime he thought about the main event of Freedom Fight, that he would think about Dustin Knight costing him his shot. Brandon Parker comes to the ring and tells Jacoby that neither of them got what they wanted at GameChanger, but both of them had a shot tonight at the Tag Titles, if Jacoby wanted it. He agreed.

Eli Evans def. Kameron Kade by pinfall in 5:47

NWA North Georgia Chamion James Blvd came to the ring, once again being accompanied by his “servant” Skirra Corvus. Corvus was sporting the same look as last week, only this time he had on a black blazer and white collared shirt underneath. Blvd. told Corvus that with the way the economy was, that Corvus should be thrilled to have a job. Blvd. began to state that if no one liked the way he done things, that there wasn’t anything they could do about it, because he was indeed the King. The music of “The King” of Royston Seth Delay hits, he comes to the ring, and challenges Blvd. to a match. Much like last week, Blvd. started hot, but Delay began to get the upper hand. Blvd. exits the ring and grabs the mic, demanding once again that Corvus wrestle his match for him, and that if he didn’t, Blvd. would fire him. A little more reluctant than last week, Corvus enters the ring and the other match begins.

Seth Delay def. Skirra Corvus by pinfall in 9:25

-Post match, Blvd was livid, he began screaming at Corvus saying how he should fire him for costing him his match, and that this match may cause him to have to defend his North Ga Championship against Seth Delay in the future.

Untouchable Talent Tag Team Invitational

The Enterprise(Jacoby Boykins and Brandon Parker) def. Dany South and Wade Adams by pinfall in 4:05

The Enterprise def. Just 2 Dudes(Jamie Cruz and Chris Spectra) by pinfall in 5:15

Shadow Jackson and Dustin Knight def. The Enterprise by pinfall in 8:38

Heavy Metal(Shane Hexxon and Cali Cannon) def. Shadow Jackson by pinfall in 9:15

Freedom Fight July 27th

NWA Main Event Results for 6/21/12

“Sometimes when you least expect it”

Fairly low crowd considering they have Ricky Morton, but that leads me into the whole topic of “is any one person a draw”, which I will rant about someday.

Pie-Guy Gordon is here doing our ring announcing tonight.

There will be no NWA Main Event wrestling 6/28 but 7/5 is the Star-Spangled Showdown, featuring Seven vs. Shaun Tempers.

We were joined for most of the match by Caitlin, which was a great time. She has lots of insider stories.

Awfully Hayes and Victor Van Glorious are out first. Oh! Oh! Oh! (It’s Magic).

Victor’s on the mic to welcome us to NWA Main Event, where we have some of the nastiest, trashiest people he has ever met. (Cliff “Yeah, and you manage them!)

Kerry is wearing the galoshes we had to wear in Elementary School.

Match #1 – Kerry Awful vs. Larry Cooter.

What do we want? Cooter! When do we want it? Now. (You’re on your own coming up with a g-rated prop for that, my friend.)

Despite the name, Kerry is not Awful. Cooter goes on the attack early. Cooter got some innovative offense in, and Kerry is a selling machine. Kerry gets a jawbreaker in while Cooter is distracted to turn things around. Cluster fudge where Cooter tries to punch Victor, Kerry bumps into Cooter, hitting Victor and knocking him off the apron.

Kerry gets the pin on Cooter using Hayes hands for support.

After the match Awfully Hayes fires Victor Van Glorious. Victor says that’s fine, he still has one more client.

Match #2 – Shane Steel w/ Victor Van Glorious vs. Psycho Medic.

Steel still needs more collars to pop.

Someone lost the ring bell because they didn’t use a bell all night, hardly. Steel gets the early advantage, and Psycho bails to regroup. Victor attempts to hydrate Psycho and gets soda on a lot of the bleacher crowd. Psycho Medic is giving the $1.99 beat down tonight.

Steel tries to do a flip off the corner, and they collide awkwardly. Psycho holds Steel in a fireman’s carry Forever until Omar Al Kazan and his band of Merry Men hit the ring. They beat down Psycho until Shaun Fatal makes the save. Omar challenges Fatal and Medic to a fight with his new Tag Team, Devastation, Inc. with The Master (Baiter) Scott Lee. Reminds me of Kato Kung Lee.

Psycho Medic threatens to start his own non-profit 501© to compete with them.

Match #3 – Josh Crow vs. Kaden Sade.

Josh Crow is someone I have seen on USWO videos, but never seen in action. Sade has been on a roll lately; even when he’s lost he hasn’t had to get carried out of the ring nearly as often as in the past. Sade’s Justin Liger-inspired kneepads really bother Cliff.

Cliff goes after Crow for his faux-hawk, and it is douche bag worthy.

These two tore the house down! Josh is a little bigger and more solid, but can match Sade move for move. Sade takes a 180 degree summersault flip to the outside on Crow, and Crow caught him and kept him safe. Sweet spinning backbreaker from Josh Crow. Damn, if he stayed here any length of time he would be up near the top, talent wise. We finally figured out, Josh Crow is doing the Miz, hence we nicknamed him the Mz, as in Mz Crow. Sade with a summersault DDT off the middle rope. Sade follows that with a reverse Frankensteiner. Completely misses with his 540 but gets the pin anyways.

Match #4 – Erik Hayes w/Kerry Awful vs. Matt Madison

Hayes has some spiffy new boots.

Matt seemed to take a step or two back from his heel turn tonight, going out of his way to shake hands in the crowd.

Hayes did a lot of his classic heel bits, but it really seemed like Madison was going slower then usual, like he was just going through the motions.

Hayes absolutely shocked the hell out of me with a Handspring into a German. I’m impressed. I’ve ridden him hard in the past, and he delivered tonight. Ref bump kills the ref, and lets Kerry come in for a combination Surfboad/kick to the face. Hayes picks up the win after the shenanigans. Shenanigans!

Omar was in the ring next, with his new Devastation Inc.

Match # 5- Devastation Inc (“The Master” Shaun Lee, and “The Machine” Ken Steel) vs. Shaun Fatal and Psycho Medic.

Fatal Medic? Fatal Psychos? Might get them the juggalo audience we lost when the Family left.

Cliff pointed out that every time Omar came out tonight, he had a new head scarf, and a matching tie. That’s pimpin!

Ken Steel reminds me a lot of Kevin Nash, and that’s not a good thing.

Scott Lee and Shaun Fatal combine for the first arm drags of the night. Caitlin agrees that the arm drag is the “go to” move of most Nashville wrestlers.

Scott Lee dosen’t show a whole lot, but dosen’t do anything bad either.

Ken Steel gets in, and botches climbing to the middle rope.

Steel and Lee are regulars with NICW, a promotion out of Virginia and North Carolina, as are apparently Dyron Flynn, Seven and Nick Iggy, as they are rated in the company’s top 10.

Pyscho Medic is giving them a good 1.99$ beatdown, when Ken Steel UNLOADS on Shaun Fatal with some “chops heard ‘round the world”. Seriously, in three hits, Fatal looks like he’s been caned. This inspires Psycho in the ring to break out a modified DDT for the win over Scott Lee. Steel responds by giving Brewster a middling clothesline. The rest of the refs come out to save their own.

Match #6 Chris Norte w/ Omar and Dyron Flynn vs. one half of the legendary Rock N Roll Express Ricky Morton.

This has to be a great thing for Norte, and I wonder how much hero worshipping the Elements did, they seem to live to be his successors.

The match itself tended to be one move, pose, one move, pose, rinse, repeat. But it is what it is for a match involving a genuine legend. Ricky’s kids are very active cheerleaders, and I really wanted to see Dyron give one a clothesline to the floor.

The “”Rock and Roll” chants get me sidetracked into a discussion with Cliff and Caitlin about TNN’s Rock And Bowl show. I still remember Cyrus pissed off he had to promote Rock N Bowl during ECW on TNN, but I digress.

Morton does Cliff’s least-favorite move, the hand-clap behind the head, which leads to a piece at the end.

Dyron grabs a leg, Norte hits two moves in a row, and Norte gets the pin after about a five count, while someone finally finds the bell.

Match #7 NWA Mid-American Southern Heavyweight Champion Seven w/Omar Al Kazan vs. Eric Hodge.

Hodge and Seven are just not complimentary, in my view. Hodge is a great catch wrestler, but his punches look like ass most of the time. Seven is a brawler with a pretty limited move set.

Seven comes out to almost no heat, and the apparently NWA-mandated (for secondary title holders) face paint. Even the presence of Omar dosen’t generate a lot of heat. Hodge dosen’t exactly get a lot of cheers, but Seven’s reaction is a mix of mild cheers for the monster and general indifference.

Hodge goes after Seven early, trying to pummel Seven into submission. Seven weathers this and then goes into his own offense. Hodge has a tendency to hit people with his wrists. Several times I catch myself going “What the hell was that, guys?” as they botch a move or miscommunicate.

Hodge spears the ref, then locks Seven into a submission hold, when he knows good and well the ref is knocked down, because he knocked him out. Referee Chris Hobbs comes in eventually, and Seven can’t answer the three arm-raisings. Eric Hodge is the new NWA Mid-American Southern Heavyweight Champion!!!!!

But, wait, not so fast. Referee Reedus is up, and he DQ’s Hodge for taking him out, thus Seven retains. That decision is met with moderate disapproval. Hodge walks over to the far side of the ring, and lays down, waiting for Seven to come over and beat on him.

A bad ending to a bad match.

Match #8 Dyron Flynn vs. Nick Iggy

Dyron says he’s gonna drag Nick Iggy all over this building tonight, and then do the same to Chris Michaels in Millersville Friday night, and Rob Conway on Sunday. Then he hides by the face ramp to Pearl Harbor Iggy as soon as he comes out from the stairs. Flynn punches the referee, Chris Hobbs, out of the way, and Iggy follows suit later. I’m not sure this was ever a match, as people are unable to bang two pieces of metal together.

(Cliff “I think they accidently raffled the bell off last week.) These two brawled in the front row, at ringside, in the bleachers, on tables at the far side of the arena, etc. No real big spots, but good intensity through out.

Charming Charles finally stops the brawl, and agrees to let both men settle their hatred of each other at the Star-Spangled Showdown in a 60-minute Iron Man match.

I thought I’d do something different today:

The Good

• Nick Iggy vs. Dyron Flynn. A good southern-styled brawl.

• Josh Crow vs. Kaden Sade. Great innovative match.

• Kerry Awful

The Bad

• Seven vs. Eric Hodge.

And The Ugly

• Ken Steel in the ring.

• Eric Hodge punching.

Moves We Can’t Stand

So, Cliff has some moves he absolutely can’t stand to see done, because they are illogical.

• The handclap behind the head.

• Raking the back.

• Raking the eyes across the ropes.

To that list, I want to add:

• The pump-handle slam.

• The Sleeper.

So, does anyone have moves to add to that? Any one want to step up and defend those moves?

EWF brings the action live with iPPV and ON-Demand products

Empire Wrestling Federation of San Bernardino, the longest running independent professional wrestling promotion in southern California is launching a new avenue for which EWF fans can view the high-impact shows they might not be able to attend, every month.  Starting with the XVI Anniversary Extravaganza hosted on May 4, EWF will be streaming multiple shows on iPPV for fans to view at their convenience, for a charge of $5.  With this venture, EWF hopes to continue the years of success and tradition as it is known for throughout the southern California region, but also nationally.   Currently the EWF roster carries 30 single wrestlers, six tag teams and six women wrestlers.  Their events are hosted every month in Covina, CA at the Knights of Columbus and in San Bernardino, CA.

“We are very enthusiastic about the venture we’re entering with iPPV and ON-Demand,” EWF owner and founder, Jesse Hernandez said.  “This is going to give all of the guys and gals in the back so much more exposure they could imagine and the fans that are no longer local, can still enjoy the EWF from wherever they are.”

EWF’s former wrestlers such as Melina Perez, Rico Constantino were signed with WWE for several years.  Talent such as TJ Perkins and Christopher Daniels, who’ve graced the canvas of Ring Of Honor and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling are also EWF veterans.
