  3. Jim Ross’ Contract Expiring

Jim Ross’ contract is set to expire with WWE on April 30, 2010. It’ll be interesting to see which company he shows up on this Monday; WWE or TNA.

On October 20, 2009, JR suffered a bell’s palsy attack and has been away from the Smackdown commentating booth ever since.

Jim Ross has stated that WWE and him haven’t been able to come to a final deal with his contract yet. One thing is official though, if WWE does manage to re-sign Ross, then he will no longer be a commentator. Instead, he’ll be working backstage at WWE events. But deep down inside, a part of JR probably knows that commentating is what he does best. While a backstage role in WWE isn’t so bad, it doesn’t come any where near the publicity of commentating. Especially for someone who’s on the level of JR. He’s often been called the voice of WWE. Not only that, he’s also sometimes regarded as the best commentator in the entire business.

If he does decide that he doesn’t want to work a backstage role for WWE, then TNA would be an excellent way to go. Not only by going to TNA will Jim Ross be commentating again, but he will also be allowed to pursue his other interests and business ventures outside of professional wrestling. It’s a well known fact that TNA allows their wrestlers to pursue other things they’re interested in outside of the company. This was something that WWE was highly against. A few wrestlers who took advantage of this are Jeff Hardy, Bobby Lashley, and now RVD. JR could also benefit from this since he owns his own restaurant and would probably like to spend more time on it.

All eyes will be on Jim Ross this Monday, as the wrestling world watches which company he decides to go with.
