Career Highlights

In the Beginning:

  • 1984: Mark Calloway signed a four year contract to start his wrestling career with and would be given ring name Texas Red.
  • Mark Calloway’s first match (masked Texas Red) was against Bruiser Brody, who legend has it, roughed him up as a warm welcome.
  • Mark Calloway would later work under another mask as “The Punisher” and “Master of Pain”, managed by Skandor Akbar.

United States Wrestling Association:

  • April 1, 1989: Master of Pain (Mark Calloway) defeated Jerry “The King” Lawler for the USWA unified heavyweight title!
  • October 5, 1989: The Punisher was awarded the USWA Texas heavyweight title by forfeit from Eric Embry.
  • Interesting Fact: Brian Lee was the best man at Mark’s wedding to Sara.

World Championship Wrestling:

  • Late 1989: Mark Calloway arrived in World Championship Wrestling as “Mean” Mark Callous
  • Mark Calloway wrestled as “Mean” Mark Callous, a member of the Scyscrapers replacing Sid Vicious teaming with Dan Spivey.
  • February 6, 1990 – Clash of the Champions 10: The Skyscrapers (Spivey and Callous) defeated The Road Warriors by disqualification.
  • February 25, 1990 – WrestleWar: The Road Warriors (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) defeated The Skyscrapers (Mean Mark and The Masked Skyscraper) in a street fight.
  • April 20, 1999 – NWA WCW: Mean Mark defeated Eddie Gilbert.
  • May 19, 1990 – Capital Combat: Mark Callous defeated Johnny Ace.
  • June 13, 1990 – Clash of the Champions 11: “Mean” Mark Callous defeated Brian Pillman.
  • July 7, 1990 – The Great American Bash: Lex Luger defeated “Mean” Mark Callous to retain the United States title.

World Wrestling Federation – The Undertaker:

  • Mark Calloway signed with the WWF and was given the “Undertaker” gimmick, and was managed by Brother Love.
  • Mark Calloway initially worked house shows to test out the gimmick under the name “Kane the Undertaker”.
  • The Undertaker made his WWF debut at the Survivor Series 1990 along side Ted DiBiase for a Survivor Series match.
  • November 22, 1990 – Survivor Series: The Million Dollar Team (Greg Valentine, Ted DiBiase, The Honky Tonk Man and The Undertaker) defeated The Dream Team (Bret Hart, Dusty Rhodes, Jim Neidhart and Koko B. Ware) in a tag team elimination match.
  • The “Kane the Undertaker” name was used at least once on TV after his Survivor Series debut, beyond the house shows.
  • December 9, 1990 – Wrestling Challenge: Kane The Undertaker defeated Rick Sampson.
  • December 15, 1990 – Superstars: Kane the Undertaker defeated Mario Mancini.
  • December 29, 1990 – Superstars: Kane the Undertaker defeated Terry Davis.
  • January 6, 1991 – Wrestling Challenge: Kane The Undertaker defeated Randy Hunter.

  • August 30, 1993 – SummerSlam: The Undertaker defeated Giant Gonzalez w/ Harvey Wippleman to regain possession of the urn.
  • ~~~Harvey Wippleman tried to pick a fight with Paul Bearer but got knocked out cold with one punch!
  • ~~~Paul Bearer once again took possession of the urn which helped the The Undertaker recover and win the match!

  • November 24, 1993 – Survivor Series: The All-Americans (Lex Luger, Rick Steiner, Scott Steiner and The Undertaker) defeated The Foreign Fanatics (Crush, Jacques, Ludvig Borga and Yokozuna) in a tag team elimination match.
  • ~~~The Undertaker showed a brand new side to his character, revealing that he was a true American patriot.
  • November 28, 1993 – Wrestling Challenge: The Undertaker defeated Gus Kantarakis.
  • November 30, 1993 – Wrestling Challenge: The Undertaker defeated Crush.
  • December 13, 1993 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated JS Storm.
  • January 9, 1994 – Wrestling Challenge: The Undertaker defeated Derek Domino.
  • January 10, 1994 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Ray Hudson.
  • January 15, 1994 – Superstars: The Undertaker defeated Duane Gill.
  • January 22, 1994 – Royal Rumble: Yokozuna defeated The Undertaker in a Casket match with help from a group of heel wrestlers to retain the world heavyweight title.
  • ~~~The Undertaker was in control when an army of heels attacked him and helped subdue the Undertaker inside the Casket!
  • ~~~Yokozuna and company then began pushing the casket down the isle when the lights began to flicker and crackle.
  • ~~~The image of the Undertaker’s rotting corpse showed up on the screen and he delivered an erie promo warning of his return!
  • May 9, 1994 – House Show: The Undertaker defeated Jinsei Shinzaki.

World Wrestling Federation – Feuding with the Million Dollar Corporation:

  • Summer 1994: Short video packages were shown on TV of regular people describing their Undertaker ‘sightings’.
  • ~~~Eventually Ted DiBiase appeared on television and claimed to have gained control of the Undertaker and is bringing him back!
  • ~~~Paul Bearer also showed up and claimed he had contacted the REAL Undertaker and wanted to face DiBiase’s EVIL Undertaker.
  • August 29, 1994 – SummerSlam: The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer defeated The Undertaker w/ Ted DiBiase.
  • ~~~Ted DiBiase brought down his Evil Undertaker – played by one of Undertaker’s “real life” friends – Brian Lee.
  • ~~~The lights began to flicker (simulating thunder and lighting) and The REAL Undertaker finally made his entrance.
  • ~~~The REAL Undertaker tombstoned The Evil Undertaker and pinned him, then rolled him into a casket!
  • September 12, 1994 – RAW: The Undertaker (The real one) defeated Kwang.
  • The Undertaker set his sights on extracting revenge on Yokozuna and began tormenting him with a casket on TV.
  • September 17, 1994 – Superstars: The Undertaker defeated Tony DeVito.
  • September 28, 1994 – Wrestling Challenge: The Undertaker defeated Jerry Lawler in a casket match.
  • October 21, 1994 – Jacques Rougeau Retirement Show: The Undertaker defeated Yokozuna in a Casket Match.
  • October 23, 1994 – Wrestling Challenge: The Undertaker defeated Mike Bell.
  • November 19, 1994 – Superstars: The Undertaker defeated Jim Neidhart by count-out.
  • November 23, 1994 – Survivor Series: The Undertaker defeated Yokozuna in a Casket Match.
  • December 26, 1994 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated The Brooklyn Brawler.
  • January 22, 1995 – Royal Rumble: The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer defeated Irwin R. Schyster w/ Ted DiBiase.
  • ~~~After the match, King Kong Bundy went eye to eye with the Undertaker while IRS attacked Paul Bearer and stole the urn!
  • ~~~King Kong Bundy repeatedly splashed The Undertaker’s lifeless body.
  • January 23, 1995 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated King Kong Bundy in a dark match.

  • ~~~The Undertaker regained control of the urn but it was once again stolen, this time by Kama.
  • April 3, 1995 – RAW: The Undertaker defeated Jean-Pierre LaFitte in a dark match.
  • April 7, 1995 – SMW: The Undertaker and Tracy Smothers defeated The Gangstas (New Jack and Mustafa Saed) and D-Lo Brown in a “Loser Salutes the Flag” match.
  • April 8, 1995 – SMW: Bob Armstrong, The Undertaker and Tracy Smothers defeated D-Lo Brown & The Gangstas (Mustapha Saed and New Jack) in a I Quit match.

  • ~~~The Undertaker allowed himself to be handcuffed and the Undertaker sybol exploded and caught on fire.
  • March 15, 1999 – RAW: The Ministry showed up at The McMahon Mansion waiting for Stephanie and set a Sybol on fire on the lawn!
  • ~~~Vince McMahon went to the ring and begged Kane to help him, but Kane removed his mask to reveal the Undertaker beneath!!
  • March 22, 1999 – RAW: The Undertaker and Acolytes vs The Corporation (Test and Bossman and Shamrock) ended in a no contest.
  • March 28, 1999 – WrestleMania 15: The Undertaker defeated The Big Bossman in a Hell in a Cell match.
  • March 29, 1999 – RAW: The Ministry abducted Stephanie McMahon and held her hostage until Ken Shamrock found her.
  • April 5, 1999 – RAW: The Ministry ambushed and abducted Ken Shamrock to punish him for ruining their plan last week.
  • ~~~The Ministry threatened to sacrifice Stephanie, but Vince kept her by his side all night with an army of security.
  • ~~~The Ministry brought out Ken’s sister Ryan Shamrock to the stage and strapped her to the symbol and sacrificed her!
  • ~~~Backstage, Vince McMahon screamed violently into the camera for Undertaker to stay away from Stephanie!!!
  • April 12, 1999 – RAW: The Big Show beat Christian (Undertaker forced Christian into this match to “proove” himself).
  • ~~~Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart w/ Debra beat The Acolytes by disqualification when the Ministry interfered and took Debra hostage.
  • ~~~The Undertaker threatened to sacrifice Debra, but Ken Shamrock ran down with a baseball bat and cleaned house.
  • ~~~The Undertaker told Ken Shamrock that Ryan Shamrock was in the basement, so he ran down to rescue her.
  • ~~~It was only a trap though, as The Ministry ambushed and attacked Ken Shamrock and Mankind in the basement.
  • ~~~The Ministry tried to sacrifice Ken Shamrock but The Brood disobeyed the Undertaker and the Ministry began to fight.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock called out Undertaker, but The Ministry attacked him, and Triple H and Bossman made the save…
  • ~~~Suddenly though, Triple H and Bossman attacked Ken Shamrock by orders of Shane McMahon.
  • April 19, 1999 – RAW: The Acolytes (Bradshaw and Farooq) beat The Brood (Edge and Gangrel w/ Christian) by disqualification.
  • ~~~After the match, The Undertaker punished the Acolytes for “failing” to take out the Brood.
  • ~~~The Big Show beat Viscera by disqualification (Undertaker and Viscera double-teamed Big Show until Mankind made the save!)
  • ~~~Mideon showed up at WWF headquarters and Vince McMahon sprinted to the parking lot to attack him.
  • April 25, 1999 – Backlash: The Undertaker defeated Ken Shamrock with help from Bradshaw.
  • ~~~As the show ended, The Undertaker abducted Stephanie McMahon and drove off in the limousine!!!
  • April 26, 1999 – RAW: The Undertaker had an “Unholy Wedding” to Stephanie McMahon, who was strapped to the Symbol.
  • ~~~Stephanie McMahon screamed in terror as Paul Bearer hosted the ceremony with the Ministry standing by.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock and The Big Show tried to stop the ceremony but they were both taken out by the Ministry.
  • ~~~Finally Stone Cold Steve Austin showed up as the unlikely hero and rescued Stephanie McMahon from the situation.
  • ~~~Stephanie McMahon embraced Steve Austin until Vince McMahon showed his appreciation to his mortal enemy for helping.

  • ~~~Randy Orton bailed out, and retreated to the stage, where he was “struck by lightning” that came down from the ceiling.
  • June 30, 2005 – SmackDown: JBL beat Christian and Undertaker and Booker T and Chris Benoit and Muhammad Hassan in a 6-WAY.
  • ~~~General Manager Theodore Long showed up and revealed that JBL had actually won #1 Contendership to Batista’s World title!
  • ~~~During the match, The Undertaker got specifically involved with Muhammad Hassan – perhaps setting up a future match.

  • July 7, 2005 – SmackDown: The Undertaker defeated Khosrow Daivari (Muhammad Hassan had convinced Daivari to be a sacrifice).
  • ~~~After the match, five unidentified masked terrorists hit the ring and attacked The Undertaker with piano wire around the neck!
  • ~~~The five masked terrorists then lifted the unconscious Daivari above their heads and carried him out as if he were a martre.
  • ~~~controversy immediately broke out, because the day of this airing, there had been terrorist bombings in London, England.
  • ~~~The tape sent out to the United Kingdom had this particular segment edited out, but it played everywhere else…
  • July 14, 2005 – SmackDown: UPN made the decision to ban Muhammad Hassan from appearing due to last week’s storyline.
  • ~~~Instead, Hassans “attorny” read a prepared statement from Hassan, but he was chokeslammed and tombstoned by Undertaker!
  • July 24, 2005 – Great American Bash: The Undertaker defeated Muhammad Hassan w/ Masked Terrorists.
  • ~~~The Undertaker powerbombed Muhammad Hassan through a hole in the stage all the way down to the concrete floor.
  • ~~~The last we see of Hassan was him laying in a pool of blood – thus “killing off” the Hassan character.
  • July 28, 2005 – SmackDown: John Layfield defeated The Undertaker in a #1 Contenders match with help from Randy Orton!

Mike Aldren wrote (On February 22, 2010): The Undertaker got the shock of his life last night when he was engulfed in a fireball due to a pyro malfunction during his ring entrance. The TV cameras didn’t show entirely what happened but he ran down the aisle while frantically trying to remove his black leather robe. He suffered first and second degree burns on his chest and neck, and off camera as the match progressed referee’s handed him bottles of water to douse his burns. You can watch fan cell phone footage of the incident on YouTube although WWE has been working hard all day to remove them claiming copyright infringement. Backstage after the PPV, according to sources, Taker cut a promo on production crew, as he was understandably upset over the incident. He isn’t expected to miss any time.

  • July 19, 2015 – Battleground: Brock Lesnar defeated WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins by disqualification due to interference by the Undertaker. Rollins retains the title.
  • August 23, 2015 – SummerSlam: The Undertaker defeated Brock Lesnar due to a timekeeper’s error ringing the bell at the wrong time.
  • ~~~It appeared the Undertaker tapped out to Lesnar, only the referee didn’t see this and reversed the final bell.
  • ~~~The Undertaker then forced Lesnar to tap out to a submission hold.
  • August 24, 2015 – RAW: Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman came out to discuss the controversy ending of last night’s match and challenge the Undertaker to come out. Instead Bo Dallas came out and said that Lesnar just have to Bolieve and as the result got destroyed.
