1963: While wrestling as "The Masked Terror" in 1963, Jay York feuded with Joe Blanchard. November 30, 1963: Masked Terror (Jay York under a mask) was unmasked by the great Lou Thesz in Detroit.. Jay York was a notorious "wildman" and was known for playing a lot of cruel pranks on his fellow wrestlers backstage! NOTE: Jay York was a musician, and briefly quit wrestling in 1972 to become the percussionist for the rock band Delaney & Bonnie. He replaced their longtime percussionist Sam Clayton when Clayton and bassist Kenny Gradney left that band to join legendary rock band Little Feat (they're still in that band today).
