Jay Ambler wrote: Long before Kendo Nagasaki became affiliated with WCW he cut his teeth like so many other great wrestlers in Eddie Graham’s Florida territory. Between 1983-84 Nagasaki engaged in a series of battles with the top competition. At around Nagasaki’s entrance into Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF), Billy Jack Haynes received a big push with the help of Dusty Rhodes. Haynes had just come out of the Pacific Northwest with steam and a reputation behind him. Nagasaki would capture the CWF Heavyweight Belt from Mike Rotundo, winning the belt in January 1984. A series of attacks and non-title matchess between Haynes and Nagasaki began. Nagasaki had a reputation as being a samurai and would often employ the use of a ‘kendo stick’ on his unlucky opponents. Haynes would defeat Nagasaki March 1984 to win the Florida belt. Additionally Nagasaki would often be paired as a tag team partner with The White Ninja (Great Muta)Following his departure from CWF Nagasaki left and briefly wrestled in the Von Erich’s World Class Championship Wrestling.
