Career Highlights

In The Beginning

  • 1974: Started out wrestling under his real name “Bob Remus” in the American Wrestling Association.
  • April 1978: Bob Remus returned under a mask as “Super Destroyer Mark II” managed by Lord Alfred Hayes.
  • September 1979: Super Destroyer Mark II started teaming with Super Destroyer Mark III.
  • February 1980: Super Destoryer Mark II started feuding with his partner Super Destoryer Mark III.
  • ~~~Mark II aligned himself with Bobby Heenan against Mark III and Lord Alfred Hayes.

World Wrestling Federation

  • October 1980: Bob Remus signed with the WWF and became known as Sgt Slaughter.
  • ~~~Sgt Slaughter lasted roughly 9 months and had matches with Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Pat Patterson and Andre The Giant.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling

  • October 4, 1981: Sgt. Slaughter defeated Ricky Steamboat in a tournament final to win the NWA United States title.
  • June 7, 1982: Sgt. Slaughter was awarded the NWA U.S. Heavyweight titles because Wahoo McDaniel was unable to compete.
  • September 17, 1982: Sgt. Slaughter and Don Kernodle were awarded the NWA World Tag Team titles following an injury to Gene Anderson.
  • March 1983: Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood defeated Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle to win the NWA Tag Team titles.
  • July 24, 1983: Sgt. Slaughter defeated Angelo Mosca to win the NWA Canadian title.

World Wrestling Federation

  • May 1983: Sgt Slaughter returned to the WWF as a heel and received several title shots against Bob Backlund.
  • January 14, 1984: Sgt Slaughter won an 18-man battle royal.
  • Early 1984: Sgt Slaughter turned face, and feuded with The Iron Sheik including a series of “Boot Camp” and “Cage” matches.
  • January 24, 1984: Sgt Slaughter got into a confrontation with Iron Sheik and gave a pro-USA speech to the crowd.
  • February 11, 1984: Andre the Giant and Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson defeated Sgt. Slaughter and Mr. Fuji and Tiger Chung Lee.
  • February 18, 1984: Andre the Giant and Jimmy Snuka defeated Sgt. Slaughter and David Schultz by disqualification when Schultz turned on Sarge.
  • April 8, 1984: The Iron Sheik defeated Sgt. Slaughter when the match was stopped due to blood.
  • June 9, 1984: Sgt. Slaughter defeated the Iron Sheik in a “Boot Camp” match.
  • June 16, 1984: Sgt Slaughter defeated Iron Sheik in a “Boot Camp” match in Madison Square Garden.
  • June 21, 1984: Sgt Slaughter defeated Iron Sheik in a “Steel Cage” match.
  • Sgt Slaughter teamed with Private Terry Daniels and Junk Yard Dog against Iron Sheik and Nicolai Volkoff.
  • Late 1984: Sgt Slaughter had a falling out with Vince McMahon and left the WWF.

  • May 21, 1985 – Owen Promotions 60th Anniversary Show: Sgt. Slaughter defeated Kendo Nagasaki.

  • Sgt. Slaughter gained a huge amount of success and exposure as a Patriotic Military wrestler in the American Wrestling Association.
  • Sgt. Slaughter’s character was portrayed in the cartoon G.I. JOE.
  • September 28, 1985 – AWA SuperClash: Sgt Slaughter defeated Boris Zuhkov by disqualification to retain the AWA Americas title.
  • February 2, 1986 – MoscaMania: Sgt Slaughter defeated Manny Fernandez in Hamilton, Ontario.
  • April 20, 1986 – AWA WrestleRock: Sgt Slaughter defeated Kamala by Disqualification.
  • December 13, 1988 – Superclash III: Sgt. Slaughter defeated Col. DeBeers in a “boot camp” match.

  • July 30, 2007 – RAW: “The Legend Killer” Randy Orton defeated WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter with an RKO.
